Run distortion
Object of Obsession is way stronger against this. You will make M1 killers life hell on most maps.
Just drop your item in main and watch killer suffer.
-
It would be an issue only if Nurse still had basic attack on blink.
Noone can convince me it's too strong on M1 killers (except few specific maps). Counterplay is very easy to do, survivors just don't like to lose their items...

I personally don't even notice when team mates have Distortion. I played with a (I'm assuming) trio the other day that all had Distortion and Iron Will and I wouldn't have picked it. I was obviously first chase because of Lethal, but that happens sometimes even when my team mates don't have Distortion. So it wasn't out of the ordinary. I've used Distortion maybe once in the past 6 months, I just prefer other perks over it. But I'm constantly being told that I should be upset when team mates use it because they're "rats" or force the killer to tunnel me or so on. I've played for years and honestly can't pinpoint a single time a team mate specifically annoyed me with their Distortion use. I get annoyed plenty by team mates, trust me, but there's no correlation between their uselessness and Distortion use that I've noticed. I personally think it's a necessary perk option for the survivor arsenal.

Distortion is an amazing for SWF to scout killer's perks, but for soloQ I believe it's hindrance for everyone.
Of course it depends on specific killer and his perks. I couldn't care less about Distortion as Legion, or Skully.
But when I play Oni with Lethal and BBQ, multiple Distortion players are going to annoy me a lot and if one survivor doesn't have it, they are most likely going to die first unless I decide to tunnel Distortion player from hook.
Of course main issue is not perk, but more of a type of players that use it. Avoid killer at all cost and if killer find them, they last about 10-20 seconds in chase... There is reason why Ultimate Weapon was so hated.

Since its mostly Doctors, I believe he's referring to farming bots. Those are definitely bannable.
I've personally only seen 1 in at least 12 months though, so OP has some terrible luck.
How can the game be played if the killer won't kill?
Doesn't sound like afk bots...
I quite often farm, where I usually do it, because I need some specific challenges, or just want more BP with 5 cakes.
If survivors, don't want to play along, if they just go an point at hook, I kill them. No big deal

That's too bad, because I'd happily stealth to unhook or take a chase for any teammate who needed me.
Perks literally do not equate to what kind of teammate you are. Except self-care. Obviously. But they affect how killer plays.
I had quite often lobbies where there are up 2, or 3 survivors with Distortion. When I have aura reading, unless they show themselves to me, which they rarely do. Those survivors left are going to take all chases.
You can say what you want, but if you are able to take a chase, I don't believe you would use such a build, because it simply loses a purpose.
-
Kinda funny farming is considered an issue...
From what I remember it is not really reportable anyway. As long killer won't get out of their way to punish players who won't cooperate, but even for that killer basically needs to team up with other survivors to break rules.

The old rank-based matchmaking did a pretty good job, at least compared to what we have now. At least it took some skill to reach red ranks before rank reset.
Yeah, I think the system was good enough. It simply separated players based on their current playtime…

When you measure skill with escapes, the matchmaking will never be good even if you prefer score matching over speed. The entire foundation of this MMR is flawed.
Doesn't matter, even if you create it by chase time and average gen progression or something. I wouldn't want precise match making, if it means increased queue times.

Problem with soloQ is selfish teammates and hiders. I use kindred, aftercare, we'll make it and windows in soloQ to help out teammates, but it also shows me the ugly side quite often. Teammates that hide and won't do gens.
Many times i die to save my teammates but quite often im left to my first hook to die or people won't even bother trying in end game.
Matchmaking seems little broken too im not gonna lie. I have 3700 hours in this game but im matched with survivors less than 400 hours. Killer on the other hand is someone with 9000 hours and those 400 hour survivors wont last more than 20 seconds. This should not happen.
Current match making is simply focused more on speed than precise match making, which I personally prefer.
I really don't want to wait 5 minutes in queue just to have everyone with 3k+ hours...

The counterplay in question was winning a 5050, not very fun for the survivor
If you want to have long chase in DBD, you have to win some 50/50. That's part of DBD imo.
If you get map where you can get long chase everytime without guessing, that's kinda broken, no?
You can get that on The Game for example, just drop every pallet and there is reason why is that map so hated… -

Something that was never intended, Hug Tech was never intended, even Mandy stated that.
No techs should exist, no hug tech, no crouch touch, etc. All of them are exploits, "techs" shouldn't exist.
CJ tech and FOV tech are also not intended features.
360 is not intended either. Same for moonwalk.
You are just trying to make the game very boring… -

Both yes and no. Crouching to avoid a hit only works because the hitbox isn't programmed correctly/'to match expectations'. Snake from Brawl is a perfect example of similar bizarre hitboxes that are both intended, and yet also absurd and should be considered unacceptable (although Snake is an example in the opposite direction). So it is bad design, and they are exploiting bad design with 'crouch tech', but they aren't exploiting the bad code in a manner like bugtech was.
Both are exploiting, just different part of the game basically. It's still an exploit by definition, no?
-
@Souplet said:

Not when those "techs" give little to no counterplay (as blight one)
Fov, cj, window and so on are easily predictable
Blight hug was ridiculously broken, making him arguably better than nurse
And for the record, im like 95% a killer player
Seems like crouch exploit is in same category then.

Idk, i find the "tech" word being so overused in dbd, whereas its absent of most multiplayer game i know
Still, its an exploit
All of those are exploits...
So if we call all of them exploits, the term exploit will be overused instead.
Techs are basically exploits, but they are simply not so game breaking compare to getting invisible etc.
Techs are additional layer of what you can learn in DBD and I believe most of them should stay.
-
@Souplet said:
Its already a S tier killer
Why would you buff him again. The nerf was justified and welcome. Don't call this a "tech", this was just an exploit giving 0 counterplay to survivors.
Yeah, crouch exploit also sounds way better than crouch tech.
CJ exploit, FOV exploit.
Why even use tech for anything?

"…that's a huge mistake and shouldn't happen unless instadown"
This kind of brings us full circle since Dragon's Grip is being buffed.
"If I hook you, you don't get the option → way better."
I disagree, mainly since the Skull Merchants I have seen dont do it, but maybe it is better, it could just be based on the playstyle or situation. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
They do it, because it's more annoying for survivors, it's definetly not better. Hooked survivor inside your 3-gen is very difficult to recover from, if she won't pick up, that's kinda easy ticket to recover.

"That's when Survivors screwed it."
Or maybe it's the Generator spread? As I mentioned, Haddonfield specifically has the worst Generator spread, and is what people have been using.
The narrow map boarders shoehorns players towards the main building, you are not given too much room to move around. The outside has 1, maybe 2, pallets that are fairly weak and can be easily forced, creating easy deadzones. The upstairs Generator is easy to defend due to it's hard to reach location combined with the only windows being weak and providing stagger. The only downstairs Generators are within breathing distance.
To put it bluntly, the option of "just running away" is not always there with that map, the way it is design easily can be abused to choke Survivors into the corner or a deadzone. And it's not like this is a massive strategical play from the Skull Merchant either, the map design is just really bad and can easily be used to create these situations.
Dead Dawg also has an awful Gen-lock but it's not as bad considering how open the map is compared to Haddonfield. And this is just with current maps, the future could hold map design that is far worse for Gen-locks and far more problematic.
"Survivors can crawl away from your 3-Gen."
Yes, they can, but they still have to waste time recovering and crawling which contribute to bleeding out. And even if the Survivors crawl out, they lose efficiency by having to get a teammate to leave the Generators to pick them up, which still Generators pressure for the Skull Merchant.
Or maybe it's the Generator spread?
I am not talking about 3-gen, but survivor let the killer to down them inside 3-gen, that's huge mistake and shouldn't happen unless instadown.

"For slugging you need to run around the map and commit to chases, that's the opposite of 3-Gen playstyle."
So the concept of downing a Survivor, that is within a 3-Gen, and leaving them on the ground just doesnt exist? You can both Slug AND Camp a 3-Gen at the same time, both are mutually exclusive since hooking wastes time and you generate pressure by forcing Survivors off Generators so they can pick the Survivor up.
Have you ever actually taken the time to watch what Chess Merchants do now? Most go for Bleedouts while stalling, they never leave the 3-Gen and slug Survivors they down to generate pressure, most teams either give up or bleed out.
So the concept of downing a Survivor, that is within a 3-Gen, and leaving them on the ground just doesnt exist
That's when survivor screwed it. How can Skull merchant down you inside 3-gen unless survivor runs there? If survivors are this bad, it doesn't matter anyway.
Survivor can crawl away from your 3-gen, that's why you hook deep inside 3-gen instead and proxy camp. Slugging is less optimal play in that situation.
If you lose against that, it seems kinda funny to me… Current Chess merchant is just a shadow of what Chess merchant used to be and I really can't care less about some balancing gatekeeping for this. -

I dont think you understand, it's not about stalling to hold the game hostage, it's about stalling in a way that can afford you the time to bleed the Survivors out, which this playstyle already affords enough time to do.
The match wont last for an hour, obviously, but at the same time, it will last more than long enough for the Survivor's bleed-out timer to fully deplete, which is the intent behind this playstyle, to stall long enough for the Survivors to bleed out.
So from 3-gen to slugging? Pick which is an issue with oppression. Answer is neither...
They don't work together unless survivors let her. For slugging you need to run around the map and commit to chases, that's opposite of 3-gen playstyle.
-

Two gens either only starts regressing, or survivor gets skill check. Neither of those would trigger 3-gen feature.

which is a shame because there’s too many aura reading builds that destroy distortion and make it useless a few minutes into the match. It’s a skill issue.
Say what?
Unless I literally bring 4 information perks, survivors won't run out of Distortion stacks.
You are never going to see Distortion player with Nowhere to hide, unless you play Stealth killer to deny their tokens.
-
Kinda funny main issue of soloQ is not really a killer, but rather your teammates.
Issue is soloQ basically makes it impossible to get from ELO hell. All games are such a gamble and more you die, worse teammates you get. That's not something to fix with matchmaking really, but rather MMR system.
-
CoB is just bad information perk, it doesn't even deserve to be called regression/slowdown perk.
Oppression has just ridiculous cool down. Make it 40 and I am going to try it with Surveillance.
-
I think they tested at some point reducing hitbox and players were not happy.
Issue is hatchet is very slow, so it would be very easy to dodge long range shots.
I really wouldn't force her to lock animation and close range hits only, that sounds boring to me.

Which is exactly my problem with Franklins/Weave.
Not that it's overpowered, that they are obnoxious, badly designed perks which grow in strength based on how little communication and game experience survivors have and should likely be changed for that reason alone. Anything which disproportionately preys on less skilled or solo queue survivors is not a good design since killer doesn't really need any extra help against those people.
Franklins kind of needs to stay the way it is because it's consuming the design space for a perk which forces survivors to drop their items, but in my opinion it's a lot like Knock Out in that it's an unhealthy, mean-spirited perk at its core and they should try to avoid making other perks which synergize with it.
That being said, even against a SWF with good communication, bringing this combo causes slowdown in the form of forcing them to run to the edges of the map to dispose of their items and it still does the job of denying medkits and flashlights or just making them extremely inconvenient and risky to use.
Sure, but I don't believe that's a reason for nerf. Because it's going to be simply useless, if you nerf it in any way.
-
@Pulsar said:

And….do what exactly? If you crouch it, he gets an M1, which to be fair is better than him landing the insta; but it's still a hit.
That gets him to hit animation, which is always better than letting him injure you with skeletons. So you get more distance.
It's completely useless if I have standing pallet/window nearby. If he tried to go for insta tech, I am able to vault/drop pallet before he can hit me, because there is quite a big delay where he can't attack. -

It isn't low. Learn how to use the spell, especially with the insta tech still in tact.
Insta tech doesn't work when I know animation. All his animation for casting are unique, so I can tell what spell he is about to use and on insta-tech range, I can easily see it.

He did agree with me, though.
The build gives value against medkits.
We're not actually disagreeing.
The thing is he's being disingenuous in his reply.
He said: "If a Killer sacrificing half of their perks for aura reading that can be almost completely negated"
So I pointed out that he was kind of downplaying the fact Franklins is a pretty decent perk and the build is very strong in general against medkits. And then instead of acknowledging that or giving a counter argument, he tried to play it off like he didn't just say that the build is useless.
No, if survivors actually counter the Weave attunement, then Franklin's is useless. It doesn't do anything, if survivors drop their items themselves.

-
Are you sure MMR changes at all, when you are not playing?
This is not rank system...
-
@Xernoton said:
That would dramatically increase queue times. Think about it like this: There are 4 survivors in a lobby, each of them with the option to ban 1 killer. That is up to 4 different killers banned each match, which is a lot. Especially considering that many would ban the more popular killers.
If we were to change it so that only 1 killer per lobby could be banned, we'd either need to find 4 survivors that all banned the same killer, which again would take quite a bit or we'd need to put them in a lobby, let them vote and then start looking for a suitable killer. This would likely make matchmaking worse overall and also take a lot of time because the survivors would need to somehow come to a compromise, which killer should be banned.
As much as I understand not wanting to play against SM, this is not the solution. She needs a rework. A complete rework this time.
A complete rework this time.
Can I get back pallet breaking? That was a reason why I have started to play her in first place... and her skins of course, but that won't be changed hopefully.
