LOL they are 100% not gonna killswitch a perk just because the other side finds it inconvenient and too strong before an event. They didn't do it for MFT before Anniversary 2023, BBQ, or Haunted by Daylight. They won't here either.

Look it was just an idea. Because people enjoy the Christmas event.

  • @Jacknalls_Paw said:

Killswitching has nothing do to in this case because it works as intended but it should be brought back to what it was before instead.

I know the perk is as intended but I reckon killswitch is the quicker option than trying to revert the change with how close we are to the event. Until they can just do that afterwards or whatever they plan to do.

Then Thrill should be reverted back to 50%

    Understand my point now?

I'm sorry what are you on about? What point? And why are you on smoke? I was just responding to the post. If they revert it, cool I guess, and what?

    My ideas

    Counterforce
Cleanse and Bless totems 20% faster
Every time a totem is cleansed by any survivor, you gain 1 token. Each token increases your cleansing and blessing speed by 20%
When you finish cleansing a totem, the aura of the totem farthest from you is revealed to you until you are 16 meters from it

    Small Game
    Keep the notification
When you cleanse a dull totem, reveal the killer's aura to all survivors for 8 seconds. If it's a hex totem, the aura is revealed for 12 seconds

And some other perks as well

    Better Than New
Increases their Action speeds for Blessing, Cleansing, Healing, and Unlocking by 30/40/50 %.

    Calm Spirit
    Remove the pointless penalty

    Inner Strength
Add blessing as well, but can only activate once per totem

Are we aware you need to even get the first hex? I don't like these ideas anyway, other than the additions of blessing to most & the calm spirit mention. But the issue is also the fact that with Thrill as it is it's stupidly hard to get rid of even one totem so this doesn't work. Everyone seems to be forgetting this that's saying use anti hex perks, what anti hex!? Counterforce is the only one other than a boon blessing over the top which can just be snuffed out. Counterforce doesn't start working until after you get rid of a number of totems. It's hardly a counter to the hex problem.

  • Just chucking this side not here too, thank you to everyone here who's been respectful in their responses. I don't need everyone to hate this game mode too, it is nice to know there's like-minded individuals here though for sure. I do appreciate that we can all have our own opinions & actually have something to elaborate on more than just the usual unhelpful lines. I maybe could have formulated my post better if I wasn't seething at the time. But regardless I do mean it though I think the game mode sucks. It's survivor sided for the most part & much like how the Haunted event was killer sided this time around it feels like once again we're flipping stuff from one extreme to the other, it can never just be balanced can it.? I hate the lack of variety in killers too, I hate the effect it has on queue times in regular 1v4 also yes. I realised I played 6 games, 3 of each side not 5 games total but any good moments were drastically overshadowed by the constant annoyance of the game mode. It's more casual than 1v4 by design because it serves no other purpose than to be played for a limited time, that however doesn't stop killers from still using "tunneling strats" or survivors absolutely try harding. While I hear the opinions that maybe I should play more & get a better reflection on the game mode, I am in a state of just wanting to play as few games as possible to do as few challenges as possible to get the rewards from the event & then take a break till the next chapter comes out. The game mode while it's around makes playing DbD at all seem unbearable. Which is not the intended affect I'd like to assume.

Anyway I've rambled again, I said it at first but I will say it again, thanks everyone for being so respectful. I've read all the takes & genuinely think the points being said of everything/anything are entirely valid. If anyone's playing DbD I wish you luck in the fog, otherwise have a great day regardless.

  • ...I won't argue... :|

I understand that everyone and their mother is complaining right now "he slugged, he camped, he tunneled" however majority of the time when a survivor complains about tunneling its either just false and there wasn't any tunneling happening or its survivor induced. Now im not saying that there isn't any hardcore tunneling because of course their is but its not happening as often as everyone claims.
If you think your being tunneled every game then record your games and post them for others to view. I would think that at worst your are being "tunneled" maybe 1 or 2 games in every 10.
I think the term Tunnel has lost all meaning because its used for every little situation.
For example if i hook you, go off and hook someone else then i find you again. thats not tunneling. Thats your team not trying to take aggro for you.
Or how about i come back to hook because i can't find anyone with the aim of chasing the survivor who rescued. But they have gone stealth so my only option is to chase the recently hooked. Thats survivor induced tunneling
Or my favourite one the one just unhooked uses their Base kit BT to body block from going for the unhooker meaning the killer is forced to hit the recently hooked. Thats not tunneling thats just VERY poor gameplay by survivors because at that point your basicly saying "don't chase them go for me mr killer but im gonna call this toxic tunneling in end game".

I wish survivor mains would just get over it already and if you really want to complain that every game your being camped, slugged or tunneled then I say proove it else no one is going to believe you. If your on steam there is now a way to record your games so no excuse not to get evidence if you play steam.

Thing is, if you read it all I explained the situation it was entirely targeted in this case & all done because he "felt like it" anyway though, I agree with you on the state of what Tunneling actually is, I hear it from time to time from my swf teammates they'll get hooked, unhooked but then no sign for a while then get chased again & call it tunneling but nothing happened in the meantime so he just got unlucky & got found again. That be the game sometimes I suppose. I also understand the killer completely when you intentionally put yourself in the path with BT or OTR, that's not tunneling at that point as you asked for it.

I say all this though with the understanding that that's not what I said happened in the post at all, & as someone who does know what I mean when I say tunneling I stand by what I said, it is a massive problem.

I want a source on this and why they can't, because frankly that's BS. How do I know?

Am a Ghostface Main, have been for several years now. And every single time they adjust HUX or Unknown, the Reveal and Stalk mechanics break somewhat. Every time, since these two Killers were added. Because they use some of his mechanics.

To make all three more consistent, the mechanic needs to change, or at least they can fix it by making Reveal less punishing, take longer, etc. They absolutely CAN fix it. They just don't seem to want to now.

Yeah I've found it's always been a little annoying but absolutely ever since certain releases the Unknown being a big one in this for sure it just breaks or seems to get worse. So it is fixable & I would like it to be. I played Ghostie after I posted this & couldn't believe the marks I was pulling off myself actually. It's a gripe only to Ghostfaces's mechanic not the players or any of his stats as it were. Maybe/hopefully we'll see it addressed properly at some point.

Seriously, why so many people started to use this perk and why BHVR haven't changed it?

I made a post about this the other day too, Knock just came back out the blue. One session I had 3 games against it, not all back to back, different variations but always the same reason to use it, just slug on the floor till the games basically written off. It didn't matter either that for a couple of the games we had a 3 man swf on coms because trying to direct from the floor proved a bit too difficult killer would find us before we could get the pick up. It was unbearable. This tied in with the finisher Mori & we're looking at the worst game state I've seen in this game possibly ever in this almost 9 years. Slugging or Tunneling, both need addressing because players just aren't having fun playing or not playing as the case may be a game they paid for.

Went on a bit of a rant there, but I do agree though Knock needs addressing with how bad slugging has been & seemingly is being rather prevalently at the moment. It's come out of nowhere to show why it's a strong perk & unfortunately in a very toxic way XD

They tend to do that with events sadly. At least it's a separate queue and not forced in the main game now.

Well that's true. Lobby times will still be awful either way & it's still just such a shame the event would be there but not enticing to play

Oh I misunderstood then. I don't see why that's an issue. But maybe BHVR could not remove it from lobbies without removing it from everything. It could all be the same code.

Yeah I know, that's what I'm assuming unfortunately too. I'd hope it could be altered though. It just kinda sucks thinking you'd prestige only to see it in the Endgame. At least with your friends it's cool to see each others prestiges but absolutely it's good that it then disappears when you actually lobby up.

  • @GonnaBlameTheMovies said:

No because I do not want to have the p300 squad see I am playing my p1 Feng-Min and dodge me. That isn't fair. :(

I don't know if you're joking but if we put this into 3 parts, reverse order you've got Endgame (prestige shows up here as usual), Lobby (survivors lobby up with a killer, can't see prestige anymore which is good), Invite Lobby, the bit before that where you can Invite your friends in (that's the part I want to still be able to see the prestige in, it's harmless & still allows friends to see each other prestige). The pre-lobby lobby as it were makes no sense to have removed it, removing prestige from the Lobby before loading into a game was completely fine as it does do as intended.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3787376#Comment_3787376

Showing the Prestiges in a SWF lobby before loading into the full lobby, absolutely no problem let's do that. But in the full lobby, I'm glad it's gone. Anything to discourage lobby shopping in either role.

    Exactly. 100%

It feels like such a silly thing to get rid of. But in a lobby totally makes sense because lobby dodging did indeed happen & for any number of reasons. Prestige too low, NAH or Prestige too high, HELL NO

I agree with that change completely, to get rid of it when you're just inviting the SWF together though, what's wrong with that? Y'know.

  • In just bringing that part back, or the removal of it with this change?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/423668/unfun-for-survivors

"Tunneling from every killer every game" - I don't believe that for a second. I believe there is tunneling sometimes, but not literally every single game. I'm not going to believe this unless someone shows me their continuous stream of games (unedited) where literally every single game for 10 games in a row someone is tunneled out (actual tunneling, not "killer didn't hook every survivor evenly = tunneling")

"The player base already in the game is leaving & quitting due to these & other issues" - what data do you have to prove this? The other available data we have for player count is Steamcharts, which currently shows a healthy and stable player count.

Also, what solutions do you propose here? Camping and tunneling are valid tactics (validated by the devs MANY times) that are sometimes required for killers to secure any kills in a game. Yes, some killers camp and tunnel when they don't need to, but nerfing/punishing these strategies only makes the game more difficult and miserable for killer players when they legitimately need to use them to have a chance at winning a match. If you really do play killer side like you claim you do, I would think that you would understand this.

If I could record 10 games for you & send you a link without faff on here I would. It doesn't need to be tunneled, in fact I refer to the person usually being tunneled to be a swf teammate more often than not.it still stands though. You can choose not to believe it but unless you're playing it with us or seeing it you just won't be able to acknowledge that it's happening genuinely.

You ask what data, the steam stats say enough but honestly look at the forums other discussions, check twitter. Ask any old players from discord groups etc. they're all leaving, plenty of YouTubers have the same worries. Don't ask me for the data when the conversation is right in front of you. The game is in a bad way right now & the tunneling isn't helping or going to help grow the player base.

Also if you had actually read it properly I gave my idea for a solution that doesn't buff survivors or hinder killers too much as I couldn't think of another healthy way to do it other than an in game BP penalty. I will say if you also read it you are now telling me sometimes killers have to tunnel & camp. To secure the kill sure, I'm not mad at that I've said. It's right from the start & much like the tunneling gameplay you wish for as proof I would love to give you proof of my killer games going pretty well usually even without tunneling. I'm not the best at either side I'm aware but not every game has to resort to what you call a "valid tactic" that is incredibly unfun for them right off the bat so you can play the rest of the match care free. You can play without it & if you play well enough surely can see you don't NEED to like so many want to claim. The whole discussion here is about how it's an unfun way of doing things, not securing kills in the end game. Right out the gate, tunneling non stop several games in a row or in a session & that just sucking for the survivors who are the only reasons killers have something to do in the game. You try to say you don't agree because you don't have proof & disbelieve how things play out when I play killer. So you won't accept a take on the problem in the game but also clearly aren't reading or understanding what's being said or being aware of the same discussions being had everywhere in the community. It's a grey area for sure but either way it's not fun. That's my opinion & you're fine to disagree but it doesn't make it any less of a problem for others too.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/423668/unfun-for-survivors

I'm going to try and boil down the post to a couple of points.

I say it a lot but getting tunneled back to back to back is infuriating & isn't a case of get better at the game, "suck less" & isn't a case of "find your own fun in dbd then" you paid to play a game & spend most of your time not playing & in the lobby.

This can definitely be frustrating. It's easy to go on a bad run as a survivor where you can play multiple games and it feel outright impossible.

In a sense, that's the game. Survivor is hard, but it feels great to escape. That's the appeal to me. It can be incredibly frustrating, but actually pulling off a successful escape is an unmatched feeling.

That's where the biggest issue lies, the new players will be joining dbd at the worst state of it.

It's not really the worst. People frequently say 'tunneling is worse than its ever been!' but I don't think that's true, its a pretty common complaint.

I thought maybe it'd be an idea to make an in game penalty to BP for immediately downing & hooking a survivor you just did.

BP wouldn't work, it's not really that much of a motivator for many players.

There's lots of possible solutions. I think the one that gets talk about the most recently is the unhooked survivor having an incorporeal state for awhile that disappears if they do a conspicuous action. This would help the survivor by preventing tunneling, but also not allow the survivors to just body block the killer.

Something like that might work, but the concept of it seems a little silly to me.

1 - absolutely the game can be & should be fun live or die, it's been that way for 8 years I totally agree but with the state of things at the moment a bad run can be days not just one session y’know. It's tough, especially for newer players too.

2 - tunneling has always been around yes, the fact it's a common complaint doesn't mean it still isn't at its worst now. I genuinely think it is, we can of course agree to disagree but I do believe for some reason tunneling has been particularly bad these last few years.

3 - as for the corporeality idea, my issue with that is I genuinely do see it from both sides and the survivors would have too strong of a tool I feel with that. My BP idea was thought to be a nice solution as if it made a serious impact on the BP earned essentially killers would either have to change it up for it to be worth playing or suffer being unable to level up or keep using the best add-ons etc. if you get me. I'd like to think the descent killers who don't care about BP are also better than tunneling right from the start or just throughout more so. Again I know there's a stage in a match it may be necessary but that's why a solution I believe needs to be less powerful for one side & more just a massive reason to not do it. All this said doesn't change the fact it is a very hard thing to think of a solution for, but it's getting bad for the game in a big way & needs addressing better than just silly "get good" comments or "just run otr" you can be amazing at the game it still won't change the outcome even if not just for you, your teammates.

We definitely don't want perks stepping on each other's toes, but I do want to take a second to clarify that Eyes of Belmont and Dark Sense do not do the same thing. Eyes of Belmont reveals the Killer as soon as a generator is completed. Dark Sense, meanwhile, activates when a generator is completed and only reveals the Killer's aura the next time they approach you. While they would effectively activate at the same time if you're being chased, Dark Sense would typically be used as a warning that the Killer is approaching while Eyes of Belmont may reveal that they're busy chasing a Survivor on the other side of the map.

We do have quite a large Perk update coming soon, though! As Nazzzak mentioned, we'll be updating around 20 lesser Perks (mostly lesser used ones) at once. We'll share more on this when the time comes.

I appreciate the knowledge & of course the actual intended focus on doing a bit of a perk overhaul, I understand that Dark Sense has indeed got the radius on it & an activation. But again with so many perks doing the same thing as each other (I'm sure there's numerous examples people could think of) to know we'd end up with another essentially is the main problem in what I said here. Again as you say it's something people are aware of & it's cool to know these perks may get some attention soon. Very cool, thank you.

That's an entitled excuse. If you think any game is lost before the game even starts, you're part of the problem.

Also OP, trust me on this, tunneling isn't fun for the Killer either. It's just efficient.

I'm glad you see it from a similar point as me on the original main topic, I agree with what you said to this guy.

I also agree it's efficient for sure XD I think we may just have to disagree that it's not fun for the killer. I've no doubt there's plenty that are enjoying feeling like a god at the game for it. But we can't ALL agree on EVERYTHING, that's just the way this works.

  • Doing that now, I assumed that might be an idea to try already. Thank you though.

Sorry but what the hell is this?! Survivors already got a buff with the activity HUD and now it get's buffed?! Sorry but no one can tell me the devs are not survivor sided.

As a 2016 vet player this is the worst addition to an already pretty crazy patch. I solo-q a lot myself & having the info it provides is helpful in those situations, it's not busted let's say but it's A LOT of information I wouldn't have otherwise so survivors are tremendously "buffed" by this if they're decent enough to utilise said info.

It's enough information already is what I'm saying, this. This right here, it's too much. Killers could find themselves really struggling at any level with survivor players competent enough. Remember the key info, you know who is getting chased as well as what task other players are doing & now you'll know how far each task is to being done. All you need is some aura reading & you have all you could/should need. Remember why perks like kindred exist, having the ABILITY to show your teammates info is a handy thing to have, with additions like these you get a load for free & if you're really good, it's really valuable.

If possible this really should only apply to non swf play, solo-q survivor info to help players get through games with randoms. Otherwise it's getting a bit mad.

  • @Hrofn said:

Anyone got any info on this? Would definitely kill for punk rebellion nea.

    Exactly!

  • @fake said:

I did my search for the history of the origin of the term facecamping to begin with.

Long ago in DbD, the survivor could only do the unhooking from the front of the hooked survivor. Therefore, the killer could stand in front of the hooked survivor to prevent the unhooking decision from occurring due to body blocking.

And in the current version of DbD, the face-camping problem has already been solved because the survivor can now unhook from the side of the hooked survivor.

Now "face camping" has changed its meaning to a term for a killer who just won't leave the vicinity of a hooked survivor.

Now, I can't say this out loud because I'm sure there will always be a killer who will abuse the term by revealing a definite location, but there are certainly hook locations where OLD face camping is now possible. In other words, there is a hook generation where even the unhooking decision from the side disappears when the killer stands in front of the hook.

NEW face camps are not a problem (although certainly ridiculous in 5gen).

But this bug should be addressed.

If only Behaviour put as much time into some bug fixes as you did into your extensive research here XD

  • @Ayodam said:

Are you referencing when they stand directly in front of the hook & their box or whatever prevents you from saving from the sides now?

    Exactly that yep.

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/357126/killer-camping-buff

Well why are you walking straight towards the killer to give him a hug?

I wasn't XD My swf mate was to get the save. Clown walked forward & she just couldn't do a thing.

Also, to anyone saying it's always been in the game I'm laughing about it anyway but it hasn't always been an issue. I've been playing since the game came out back in 2016, wasn't always like this. Wasn't always as many campers either. We all know there's always campers though.
