Yeah I've been avoiding playing DBD for a good while now hoping it would get a bit more balanced out. But with this new update and the way they acted on stream, I'm starting to doubt that will ever happen. I think at most now I'll just try to play custom matches with people I trust since at the very least we can try to balance it ourselves that way

Yeah, overall the very concept of the Candelabra item was terrible. Not only did it completely defeated the whole point of the modifier, which was to be dark, but it also made you a target.
But the first Lights Out, which had no such thing? Perfect… Well, it would be perfect if Freddy had been available, but even without him that event was really fun, I loved it!

Honestly, my friend, I think the first one was better because there was no Candelabra, which I think should be the whole point of the modifier: being dark.
As dark as possible.
I used to not use the candelabras, or when I did, it was to get aggro or drop them in places as waypoints for everyone. I hope they do the Lights Out event more often. The only events I've seen are 2V8 or Chaos Shuffle since the last Lights Out, and I can't be bothered to play either of those events.

Honestly, my friend, I really liked the first Lights Out. I think it was fun, even if my favorite killer wasn't available, and it was a return to the horror aspect DBD needs.
The second Lights Out was awful though.
I never played the first Lights Out, but the second one I did, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Hopefully, they bring the first version back so I can try that one out. Chaos Shuffle is just one I'm never touching, it doesn't even seem remotely enjoyable to me.

That seems like a super niche situation and not that bad since they also can be removed by the portals anyway
I would argue that they shouldn't be immediately removed from the portal, maybe slowed down, but not outright removed. Just as much as I think they should have some sort of indication if they're on the other side of a portal, so you can wait to avoid an instant hit.
But I'm not a Knight player and don't go against them often, so I don't fully know how strong they are. I just thought that an unfair situation needs to be mentioned, at least so others who go against him on the same map know what to look out for. -

Doesn't the portals remove the guards?
Yes, if it's already chasing you, but I'm talking about leaving a portal and directly into a guard that you have no indication is there. (You can't see its radius, and you can't hear it like the killer's terror radius.)
If it's a distance away, you can try to run from it, but the issue I'm pointing out is that guards can be set up right in front of the portals, so there's no counter except never taking them to begin with. (Or being on comms with other survivors, but I do solo queue.) -

I'll always go to bat for Illumination not being outright useless. Being able to see the whole gen spread for a single perk activation is not something you can get any other way, and it's not nothing in terms of usefulness.
I would agree that it lacks impact for being a Boon, though. I'd love to see it get a moderate update that more justifies its setup time.
Yeah, looking through the other Boon perks available on the wiki, Illumination isn't worth the perk slot. It reminds me of Invocation: Treacherous Crows, where it sounds alright in very certain situations, but compared to other perks, it's just not worth it.

??? last time i checked i cant make my pig get the same speed as blight
Last time I checked, that's a stealth killer being compared to a dash killer? Pig is all about catching people off-guard and getting as many traps placed on them as you can to force survivors to slow down and attempt to find a key for it or die. She's not rushing to the other side of the map like Blight does, obviously, two completely different types of map pressure.
-
I forget about most of the boons and invocations in this game tbh.
-
Yeah no. Killers can have plenty of map pressure, it's all just about how you play them. Some are certainly stronger/weaker than others, but with how strong some of the killer perks/abilities are, this shouldn't be an issue.

I liked the idea of the game mode, but ive found lights out events (both of them) to be some of the most annoying games ive ever played as survivor due to proxy camping ghost faces, leatherfaces always being able to get within spitting range before you know they are there, and the candles simply felt like they existed to tell the killers where you are, and got destroyed when used to help teammates find generators. (It was also during the dracula boom because he just released so if it wasnt ghostface or legion or leatherface it was 50% of the time dracula)
I thankfully didn't deal with those types of players as much during the event (Which is probably why I enjoyed it so much since thats how I experience the usual matches), but I agree that it sucked going against Dracula which I found was my main complaint in the event.

Yeah, I can see that. I never used the lights as intended. Usually placing them down as markers for areas or using them to take agro and dropping them when I could, never really bothered putting them directly on the generators as it just showed where you were to the killers. But using them the other ways helped and felt like it made the game more fun, especially in a solo run.

As I understand, this expansion is based on the film universe and not the video game fnaf universe. So I'll leave that side of the debate be.
I know it's probably a little late in the development cycle to change - but I don't fully understand why the Animatronic basically gets the Huntress's axe to throw as an ability. It doesn't seem very.. fnaf. You could have made a combination of the Knight and Nemesis here where other Animatronics would be roaming (like Nemesis zombies) and then they can be commanded/summoned (like with the Knight), just as an example.
I am a bit disappointed by the Mori. Lore wise William Afton should be trying to stick the survivors into a springlock suit to kill them (and hide the bodies). I'm not quite sure he is using Endo equipped with buzzsaws as a mori.
The security door implementation is fun, if looking a little clunky just propped up by the entity. The transition through the set piece to another door does seem a little slow gameplay wise.
These are just my own thoughts and opinions.
I myself, as i'm sure much of the community, would love to see other animatrnic skins from the series/movie verse. There are a lot of possibilites here for Legendary skins for other killers also.. I hope there is going to be AT LEAST a Foxy skin for Blight - charging accross the map.
I didn’t super enjoy the axe to begin with since it seemed out of place as well, but I doubt they can change it at this point (and I’m not sure what they could change it into at this point to keep the same interactions of being able to grab or disable cams).
I agree with the mori and security doors. The mori just feels off, I was expecting a classic suit stuffing or even a springlock failure but instead we got some random saw-looking ass trap? It’s just not interesting looking and plenty of the other killers have significantly more gorey or brutal mori’s.
The security doors (once they fix the LOS issue with it), I can’t see any survivor using at all. It’s just not worthwhile. The cams are usually in awkward spots, it’s going to take longer than you probably expect to find Springtrap and during that time he could just step out of view, disable the camera, or even just walk up to you without you knowing. It just makes more sense to avoid him like any other killer and use some aura perks to figure out where he is.The teleporting aspect of the doors is nice, but it’s hard to know what door to use (meaning more time spent vulnerable figuring it out) with the risk of being instantly grabbed. I don’t think this needs to change, but it needs to be noted that many aren’t going to use it because it’s too risky.

The candelabras made it awesome. The bats in the darkness were also a really nice touch. I hope Lights Out 2.0 returns.
(From what I've seen on the forums, I'm in the severe minority with this opinion.)
RIGHT? I loved having the option to use the candelabras, but most of the time I would just skulk around in the dark and sneak around

I mean, fair, but the original in fnaf 3 was also a down pitched version of existing screams.
I know, but compared to the DBD one, the FNaF 3 feels more robotic? I'm not sure how to explain it. I guess it's better to say that I was expecting a screech instead of the roar we got?

Why robotic tho? This is literally a human trapped in a suit. William Afton isnt a robot, he is just a beef jerky human
Yeah, I know, but his original scream is more robotic than his current one. If we're going with that logic, why add mechanical sounds to his chase music? The answer is that it just sounds a bit better for the character.
-
I would love to see Scissorman in the game, but it's definitely very niche. Would definitely die for the Barrows Mansion to be added. I think the game needs more maps where it's just a giant building like the Raccoon Precinct.
-
Yeah, I found the mori a bit disappointing, was hoping for it to be suit stuffing or maybe a springlock failure? Maybe they'll make a part of a different cosmetic, but the current one just doesn't seem that good. I don't super enjoy the roars either, I don't think they're bad, but was hoping it would be slightly more robotic. There's just a bunch of small things I wish they would tweak.

It takes less than 10 seconds. More value than opening a chest, doing a dull totem, both things that solo ques will inevitably do when doing gens is more efficient.
It really doesn't though… Unless you have an idea of where he is, then you're going to be searching on cams for a bit at least, which he could use to either teleport to you or come up from behind to grab you. At that point it's just better to use an aura perk or do what you normally do with any other killer and just listen out for him.
I think it would be nice if it gave him a mini debuff, maybe something that helps others who are in chase, so that he has to decide whether he wants to use his axe on the camera about to spot him or on the player he's chasing. Anything that's at least slightly inconvenient and makes using the cams more worth the risk of being caught off guard and downed.
