  • Demo and its perks need a whole rework

How old are you? The original Slender came out in 2012 and was a mega hit. His big break in popularity predates fortnite by 5 years. He has so many other abilities as well, sickness, proxies, tentacles, visual distortion, audio distortion, and more. Also, michaels ability is to look at people, you really telling me thats more unique than the concept up top?

    Keyword was..

  • Favs: Otz, Monto, Puppers, Tru3, Sat, Ohm

Least: while I watch Ochido's compilations, I'm not a fan of his actual gameplay.

That build is so disgusting. Overkill much? Honestly, if you're playing demo aggressively, that build is just easy mode.

It turns a very fun killer into an oppressive fun sponge. I hate seeing how popular builds like that are in DBD, the laziness is off the charts.

What should Demo run then as that's the build I use for it.

  • Not even close, give me midwich over any of the corn maps as killer

  • The Creeper ain't coming to this game ever.

  • Not going to lie I love using m2 on overly altruistic survivors. Catching survivors healing or unhooking one another through the walls on maps like the game, Hawkins or midwich is so entertaining.

PH is certainly better than Pig and it isn't even close

  • Much rather have Alien over anything that can come from FNAF. I'd prefer Hellraiser or Candyman first.

Even if half the story is made up, the story has more depth than TCM(teens in my house? chainsaw go brrrr), Halloween(I like to stab. Thats it), and Scream(Your mom slept with my dad and now I want to kill you). Also I wouldn't use the Stephen King books as the bar for "horror lore" considering a lot of it is just shock horror IMO.

There's a lot of pent up aggression in this second part, you good dude? Anyways, like I posted in the OP, this is the community that had Silent Hill rule 34 only two hours after the chapter got announced. This is also the same community that has a naked fetish for Michael, Clown, and an ass fetish for Pyramid Head.

Overly generalizes legitimate horror icons and one of the greatest authors in history let alone horror but thinks FNAF has more depth or story.

    That's hilarious.

Too niche...nobody knows who these characters are. Sure shows out there that border on horror exist like Parasyte and the like but....nobody knows who the hell these people even are. They have less notoriety than B list horror villains in movies....More people have seen or know what sharknado is than know anything about horror animes....

That's where DBD comes in then? Introduce players to these different anime?

Trapper is basically Jason. Candyman was never so famous like Freddy or Myers, he is more like in the Hellraiser tier and i never saw any of this movies, because they have abysmal ratings (except for the first one).

They should consider Dracula or Jekyll & Hyde.

So you've never given any of the Candyman sequels a go because their ratings.. hope you've never watched any of the other horror icons sequels then as they're just as bad if not worse.

  • I've been using him non stop on ps4, I think in time he'll be ranked higher on the tier list. Think a lot of people try to use his ranged attack at the wrong spots which frustrates them to the point they just switch back to whom they had beforehand.

  • She's fun but damn is the game against you at times.. I've whiffed so many times on swings where I'm right on them or the poor framerate screws up your blinks badly.

candyman hardcore fans explain to me what the power would have been.

Shoots bees at the survivors? That's the doctor.

Wait, the bees actually intoxicate the survivors. That's the plague.

The bees swarm the survivors causing them to slow down. That's the clown.

Plus in all honesty we can agree more people have heard of silent hill rather than "Candy Man", especially around the globe as a whole.

What a ridiculous way to grasp at straws with what his power would be, lol.

One of the most hyped horror films of the year was Candyman. I gurantee if you walk up to most people they'd know who candyman is before pyramid head. Silent Hill hasn't had a hit game since arguably 3 dropped.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong as it's been awhile since I've played SH2 but wasn't Pyramid Head originally just a manifestation of James' guilt but then he became so popular they kinda shoehorned him into the rest of the series?

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

I mean if this had not been promoted as some iconic horror classic I wouldn't be as disappointed. I was expecting something of Alien/Jason/Pennywise stature. Silent Hill is not classic, iconic, or in any way a landmark in the horror genre.

But the map looks cool and the killer looks like fun.

It's a landmark/icon in the horror game genre which is an extension of horror as a whole and the first 3 games are classics.

  • I'm excited to play him but same time I'm also wishing it had been anyone else..

  • Pinhead or Candyman with Kirsty and Helen as the survivors.

    New prestige or devotion awards

  • @coppersly said:

I only ever saw bits and pieces of his movies when I was young. Not something that fascinated me very much so I was never interested in Pinhead. Looked like another kind of Saw with too much focus on gore and not story.

The story is pretty unique amongst horror films, it plays out more like a twisted love story than something similar to saw. The Cenobites themselves are only in it for maybe... ten minutes? But their world and lore is fascinating.

  • Missing his shred is the worst as it feels like eternity waiting for the animation to finish, lol

  • If anything I'd just want a cooldown on his shred and toning down his sound effects. He's louder than Godzilla at this point

  • Trying to think of a meaningful Simon in the Alien, F13th, and IT series. Only Simon I know is Simon Bamford who played Butterball, one of the cenobite quartet from hellraiser.

Mathieu could just be playing cheeky though lol

  • I'd be ecstatic, candyman is one of my all time favorite horror films and Tony Todd is amazing. Inb4 he's not iconic, which he most definitely is. He may not be on the same level as the big big names but he's definitely well known, both from a 90's horror standpoint but especially in the urban community.

  • Count Barlow or Jack Torrance, although I doubt it'd look like Jack Nicholson

I will admit that I have never seen the movie! But, I'm just going off of how well-known he appears to be, and it doesn't seem to be very much. Looking at the movie's Wikipedia page, the "Legacy" section is not even a paragraph worth of material. And I personally have never even heard of him until just recently (due to the speculation about the new killer), while I am aware of many, many other horror characters in media. I'm not doubting that people thought his movie was fine, or it had good writing/screenplay/story, I'm just saying that he's not really ICONIC or even really well-known like many other characters from horror media.

The reason I believe that Pyramid Head (or just Silent Hill in general) would be a better fit is that Silent Hill IS iconic in horror media. Horror games are a part of the horror media, and Silent Hill, along with Resident Evil, are two of the most iconic, if not THE most iconic horror game franchises to date. Many, many horror games over the years have been inspired by Silent Hill, so I think it's safe to say that it's pretty well-known and iconic in the gaming world. Just because it's not as well-known as horror movie characters and is video game horror doesn't mean that it's not "iconic" in it's own way, i.e. in the gaming world!

I'd also like to say this: If a company decides to no longer continue a video game franchise, what's wrong with that? Maybe they ran out of ideas for further Silent Hill games. I think that many gamers take it as a personal insult when a company no longer wants to continue a series.... like they're owed games from the companies they like, when that is not the case at all! And I don't understand calling it "abuse" of their series, when they own it and can do whatever they want with it. It's not like the franchise has it's own personal rights or anything.... 😋

You should definitely check it out. Don't go off a legacy section on wikipedia of all things to judge how popular a character is. The character was really popular especially with the black community, a lot of African Americans remember how terrifying that movie was in the 90's.

One of the most anticipated movies of the year before everything was shut down was the new Candyman movie too.

Regarding silent hill, fans and gamers alike were super excited for silent hills a few years back only for konami to shut it down due to their issues with kojima. Everytime konami teases something new about the series it just turns out to be more pachinko machines along with the rest of their franchises. If they ran out of ideas then I'm sure another studio would have plenty of good ideas to keep the series going.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure this out as well. Pyramidhead spent years known basically only to RE and SH fans. It was a huge market at the time, and limited to consoles for quite a while. The movies helped push it up a little bit, but you're still way more likely to get a "what the hell is that supposed to be" than a "oh, cool, pyramid head" if you showed a picture to someone off the street.

He's certainly distinctive, but not exactly a household name.

Konami is really the biggest nail in that coffin, though. I mean, BHVR are horror fans making a horror game, so they'd likely see even the niche guys as fun additions. So "iconic" could have a much looser meaning to them than its supposed to.

The "emotional" statement could mean anything, from a childhood favorite, to a franchise one of the team has worked on before (which might not be a bad angle to look at, but I'm not that motivated).

BHVR always leaves a lot of room for interpretation. The tweet from the OP certainly leans way into Candyman, but you can't really ever be sure if BHVR is being legit or just screwing with everyone.

I'd think, at this point, Candyman is almost a guarantee, the big question is if it's this chapter or the next.

What I'm saying, if Candyman isn't that well known than Pyramid head certainly isn't either.

Even if it isn't candyman I just can't see Pyramid Head being a huge emotional move from the devs perspective but they do like to have fun with their fans expectations.

If he doesn't happen this chapter I'm still holding out hope he'll show up eventually.

  • @FreakPrince said:

The devs will never put Candyman on the game because no one knows about him outside of the US. And also because he doesn’t wear a mask.

If no one knows him outside the US then I highly doubt the Demogorgon is known world wide either but yet it still made it in the game. When did wearing a mask determine who makes the cut? Freddy doesn't wear one.

I mean, that's just your personal preference.... there are plenty of people who find him to be scary! And they would of course alter him for DbD play, so he wouldn't be slow as molasses or anything (or maybe they could work around it in a cool way?). I mean, they added other licensed Killers to the game and made them fit just fine (Demogorgon is great!), so I'd love to see what they would do with Pyramid Head!

But, on the flipside, I personally find Candyman to not be scary whatsoever. His appearance is unintimidating, he uses BEES (I can already see oodles of memes), and he just looks pretty goofy overall. Nothing particularly special about him, and I think most of his "horror" comes from shock and gore. Pyramid Head is mysterious, intimidating and disturbing, and has enough depth of character to fit nicely in the DbD world. From his wiki page: "They are usually portrayed as, at the most basic, violent monsters. A deeper meaning given to them explains their existences as deliverers of punishment and executioners of sinful humans.". With lore like that, I think PH would make perfect sense as a Killer!

I have a question, have you even seen Candyman before? He's got one of the most tragic and interesting backstories in horror and he doesn't kill people with bees. The bees are more an aesthetic thing and if they got Tony Todd to make small voice lines like they did for Ash along with the voices in the background like they have for madness 3 doctor that would be dope.

You're hyping up Pyramid head as if he's got the legacy or backstory of Jason, Michael, Freddy, and co. though and I'm a huge fan of SH2.

I doubt it's Pyramid head as konami only cares about abusing the series for gambling machines at this point.

  • @Hippie said:

I personally hope it's Pyramid Head with a passion.... an ACTUAL scary Killer to have in the game! And I would say Silent Hill is pretty iconic in horror in the gaming world (which is pretty dang big), not to mention that there were two(?) films as well. Resident Evil is iconic as well, so it could even be a Killer from there!

Either way, I'd be pretty happy that they're adding something from a real horror, not "Candyman".... what? Man with a hook and bees? I can't see that fitting into the game whatsoever, and I will be thoroughly disappointed if they add him. They were already pushing it with Deathslinger, since he's basically just an old man with a harpoon gun.... at least with the other human killers, they're wearing masks! (not hating on Deathslinger of course, just pointing out that he is not very scary whatsoever, and actually kind of plain--not really a "horror" game Killer)

Pyramid Head scary? That's hilarious and he was never scary, even in SH2. Downplaying Candyman as just a hook hand and bees while praising Pyramid Head as if he isn't the slowest lumbering villain the game could get. He'd be slower than the nurse.

  • @Kirby said:

What's his ability gonna be? Bees XD

Certainly a lot more than you'd give him credit for

  • Just thinking about the times playing old freddy is scarier than anything Krueger could ever conjure.. jesus..

  • If they did get the license they probably wouldn't be able to use Jack Nicholson's likeness. NECA toys stays getting asked about Shining figs and they always reply the same.
