To remove the predatory nature of the Rift, they would need to do a few things.

    ~Remove the free path

~Allow the rewards from the pass to be purchasable in the store after the season ends for iri shards or Allow the battle pass to remain in effect until the player completes it.

~Allow the battlepasses to be purchasable in the store after their season has ended for those who missed them.

These three things are what triggers a specific psychological anxiety disorder which the Rift is specifically designed to create. The devs designed it this way to drive sales by taking advantage of this anxiety.

Removing them removes this deliberate psychological trigger and brings the product closer into consumer friendly territory.

This will allow us to have more control over when to purchase these items instead of feeling pressure to do so before they are no longer available.

    @SpaceCoconut

you make some valid suggestions. I also saw the video you made in which you discussed this.

the only point you made that I disagree with is that the cosmetics themselves should be purchasable with shards.

This almost eliminates the point of the battle pass entirely. Since you could just wait until your favorite cosmetic comes up in the shop and buy it after. We should however be able to buy the battle passes with a shards.

I believe the cosmetics to not only be fashionable, but also a testament to a players dedication. Almost like a legacy by showing they put the work in to earn it.

However your only point I disagree with is that we should be able to buy the cosmetics afterwards in the store with shards. You a should be able to purchase the passes as a whole, but not individual cosmetics. This would ruin the whole point of the battle pass as you could just wait until they pop up in the shop instead of earning them. I believe the cosmetics in the rift to not only look cool, but also serve as a sort gonna achievement to show off to other players how dedicated you are. Almost like legacy in a way.

It's still going to be free to play. I don't understand why people are crying about this so much.

If you don't like it don't get it, the same way you don't play killers or survivors you don't like.

@DenimChicken I’m not crying about it. I’m actually open to it. I just chose not to voice my own opinion as I felt it hinders the actual discussion. And that is “what would it take for the naysayers to accept a battlepass in dbd?”

Are you telling me that the Dev team are that incompetent that they didn't even check what build the PTB was before giving it to players?

Surely you would check what build you are uploading. It's not like they close their eyes and point to a random build and say, "Yep, let's upload this one."

    No. It was intentional.

@CronaWins I meaaaaaan I don’t wanna be that guy, but it’s Behavior and they’ve done several questionable things.

It's crowd control, marketting in the guise of a "leak."

    And you fell for it.

@CallMeSpidey I highly doubt they intentionally meant to leak it. It would get more traction as a formal announcement rather than a leak.

    Stop crying.

I don't mind the leaks. I'm still really excited. It's this current gaming generation that complains so much man.

If nothing leaked then all of you complaining would be crying about something else... how we need more content, or how you can't stand the wait... or something.

It leaked. It's great. It's going to be awesome. Stop.

@Dwight_Confusion I guess we shouldn’t hold the people who make our game to a higher standard huh? And the whole generation argument is just silly.

  • @SmokePotion said:

    well, it's not data miners.

It's devs sending out dev builds to the community on accident. I love data miners and what they do for game communities. However, these leaks are insane. BHVR's official stance is to not talk about them, but when you go to play DBD, the first 2 news articles you see below it on steam, are news about the ghostface leaks.

I honestly hope someone lost their job. because I've been fired from jobs where I didn't compramise IP.

@SmokePotion I agree I am not at all blaming the data miners. I wish behavior would simply lock down their stuff better. I find it ridiculous that they could make this many mistakes and still come out and say “no one was fired.”

Devs confirmed it's a chapter which means map + Killer + Survivor. Keep your hopes up.

@T0xicTyler the devs also referred to the Evil Dead dlc as a “chapter” before it’s release

  • Thank all of you for the replies! I’ll change it tonight <3

No I don't find broken bullshit fun at all.

The only time I use mories is when I have a daily.

I might have used 5 to 6 insta heals and I have something like 1k hours alone in survivors.

I don't understand why people find broken stupid stuff fun. I also don't understand why people feel like they need to cheat in games.

Of course, I can't decide what is fun or not fun for you but for me, I have fun when I overcome a difficult situation. Dark soul games, Nioh, old rogue games were and are really fun for me.

You have killed 4 survivors because you used iri head + infantry belt with an ebony mori, woow congrats man you achieved the impossible.

I will never be able to understand this.

@Delfador it’s subjective as I’m sure you’re aware. many people agree with me, but are too afraid to come out and say that the game might be a bit better broken instead.

  • Lol not what this post is about but okay

  • I do agree that the rank system should be addressed. Before the old system made more sense, it was super easy to rank up, but it was a casual game, so who cares. But now in order to rank up. You reaaaally have to be trying. You could make the argument to just ignore rank all together too which is valid, since it doesn’t do anything but help with matchmaking.

  • I agree, the nerf was extremely unneeded, I wish they would have kept her as she was. It was a great way to be time efficient and also keep pressure. Now her power can be a bit tedious and must be charged as you engage or else you’re wasting time.

  • Just buy Devil May Cry 5 and take a break from dbd for a bit. that’s what I did :p

Yeah, but I think he's still a dangerous guy and I like him. With the right perks and addons he's a powerful killer. I would just like those 2 QOL improvements. But I don't see them paying attention to him right now. Or ever XD

Honestly, we’ve been waiting on a Freddy rework for what feels like centuries.

  • @Condorloco_26 said:

The buff I'd ask for him is reducing his penalty when bumping into objects.

And also reducing the cooldown when succesfully downing people with the chainsaw. It's way too long.

I always found it funny that leatherface has the worse version of the chainsaw, but has a harsher penalty.

  • I personally think 115 percent movement speed while charging would be a little OP. There would be almost no escaping, currently while charging he moves at 87.5% movement, I do think he should be slowed, but not that much. I feel like if he went down to 100% it would be good, he could keep up with survivors, but also have a bit of counterplay since he’d have to cut loops a little wider etc.

  • I’m not saying they should add this, but maybe they should make it like after you prestige a third time, You could again and get a legacy piece instead, but I do think legacy should be an exclusive thing. If they ever did add a way to get it again it should be for a very short event like 1 week or less

  • I feel like you have to play him sort of like legion, I noticed most of my Freddy games are very long if I’m not tunneling or anything. I noticed I usually get perfect 32k games with him, I usually use either both decrease skill check chances addons, or a range addon in there somewhere. I usually get at least 3 kills, but I really have to try tbh, I will constantly be bouncing from survivor to survivor until everyone is taken down eventually.

  • I’m hoping the devs at least consider this idea, given the current state of the game.
  • i don't see any problem with as long as killer don't get green add on from it
cuz some killer like billy and LF their best add ons are green

Why not? They should have a chance to get any addon because most killers require them, except maybe Nurse or Billy.
  • I mean I'd love if they would stop making killers so add-on reliant, but in the current state of the game this is a pretty good suggestion.

That’s why I think this would be good, either they rework majority of killers so they don’t rely on addons (which would take a long time since it barely just happened for pig and she still is lol) or just implement a mechanic such as this, or even anything else to allow killers to gain addons some way other than bloodpoints.
  • Coriander said:

Don't Killers get more BP for games?

Usually yes, since survivors have like no way to get points in the survival category during the game (which I think is silly btw)
But I proposed this idea since majority of killers are addon reliant to be effective in their role. most of the addons I find myself using for killers are at least green rarity, if not higher and when you use them every game and are not always getting more BP than survivors it adds up over time.
  • I think I should clarify what I meant, if you find an addon in the middle of a trial, you don’t equip it. It would end up being shown in the endgame screen, like how survivors have it shown at the end of the game.
or if you want to be really spicy, maybe have the chance to equip it or not mid trial.
but i was initially thinking of it showing in the endgame screen.
  • The issue is that certain addons doesn't fit certain builds. So you could end up with addons who are hurting you build.
Or in general addons who are pretty bad and better to go without any perks in the first place (speedlimiter for example).
I don't see that beeing a viable thing. I think it's better when the killer can keep his addons if he 4Ked, same with a survivor who escaped and keep the items
I understand that, but better to have a chance at good addons rather than what we have rn which is nothing.
  • AntiJelly said:

I think to be in line with the ways that survivors keep their stuff:
If you single pip, gain one random add-on of Very Rare rarity or lower.
If you double pip, gain two random add-ons of Very Rare rarity or lower.

That sounds like a fair way for it to work. Good addition!
  • I got one for you
barbecue and chili was actually in the shrine of secrets
  • Another thing I wanted to add @Peanits since you brought up the cheese doctor build, these aren’t necessarily changes we’d want for cheese builds, while I admit it might seem that way for these, at the same time these would be really nice for that 4th perk slot if you wanted something that would affect the flow of the game and would help bring a bigger pool of perks in the viable pool. The recent spies and surveillance rework were great, why not keep up the awesome momentum?
  • Peanits said:

I do like the idea, I'll just get that out of the way. I think for the most part it would be a good change. But as always I'm going to try to poke holes in this just for the sake sparking some conversation.

What benefit would this provide most of the time? I know coulrophobia would be pretty noticeable, but the rest I don't think would really make a difference. Overwhelming presence would really only affect toolboxes and maybe a medkit since you probably aren't going to be playing with your flashlight while the killer isn't close, or blowing through a map or key. Unnerving presence would go off a little more, but I almost feel like the more sporadic they are the better the effect. If it's to constant, you'd end up getting used to the smaller skill checks.

What would prevent cheese builds? Take a terror radius doctor on the game, for example. His terror radius is already large enough to cover most of the map. If the effect lingers he could pretty easily keep you constantly under the effects of his perks while chasing someone around. Or if a hillbilly tossed on distressing and coulrophobia and you end up in the terror radius for a split second as they chainsaw across the map. Or probably worst of all, what if someone uses Iridescent Button and coulrophobia? That would essentially mean that any time you hit anyone, everyone would heal significantly slower for a while. By the time that wears off, you could easily hit someone again.

Again, I think it's a good idea. The one change I might want to see is that you have to be within the terror radius for a short amount of time for the effect to linger (3-5 seconds, maybe shorter depending on how close the killer is?). I can see it being pretty frustrating to be constantly under the effects of a perk just because someone chainsawed past you and you were in the terror radius for under a second. Otherwise I think it would be nice and would be a little more consistent with the survivor perks.

And because I know someone will say it, I think it'd be nice if the survivor perks had the same requirement for the lingering effect. You should get the effects immediately, but it should take a couple seconds to get the lingering effects.

I do think that makes sense, I feel some perks would be very annoying in certain instances, but at the same time they’re very situational and I doubt it would actually be a problem. Just to avoid this I feel as though 3 seconds would be a good time to have the lingering effect after. A lot of these perks are just thrown away from perk build and it’s sad because I’m sure all killers really like the effect, but a nice quality of life update like this would make them heaps better. Like I said coulrophobia might actually be a viable perk if this was added, almost everyone agrees on here. I feel as though none of us can truly be right until it is tested on actual games, if it was just added to the ptb for experimentation that’d be awesome. If the perks were a bit much, you could add the 3 second prerequisite, if they aren’t an issue at all, just leave them with the buff then at least SOME people would use them instead of how they are in their current state. Also thank you I appreciate the reply.
  • Devs plzzz! We won’t stop till we get a reply! @not_Queen @Peanits at least acknowledge the idea
  • I’m hoping someone on the team can give feedback for the idea!
  • Honestly this is one the the changes I really hope we see in the game. It’s simple, not asking too much, yet very effective.
  • Real talk if the survivors Bm me at the end game I’m denying them those points
  • Bumpy bumpy for the people haven’t seen it, I really hope some community managers at least consider this idea
  • I had a legion game yesterday that was like 30 mins lol I think he’s the best killer in terms of slowing the game down with his base kit
  • BBQ hasn’t been in the shrine for over a year lmao
