Ok let's pretend like people aren't just giving up as soon as they get hooked the first time. And it happens far too often. And a 3v1 isn't a completely unwinnable situation, I've won plenty of games in the past even if there were 5 gens remaining.
I see no point of not playing the game, at this point why even play it?I think the ops point was the game was unwinnable. At least from their perspective. I have no problem going 3v1 when my team is actually playing.
-
@FMG15 said:
The point of the game is to play it why would I just skip every game that isn't going in my favor? Maybe take Cote's advice and play a game of CIV if just playing out the game is too bothersome for you.
In your favor and 99% unwinnable are different things, your point of view is delusional. I think you should apply at BHVR and help with future game design/balance, you'd fit right in.

Devs how have you not consider how broken this portal room window is with the mile long loop even Anti window spam nor bloodlust can't activate cause you lose chase.
Like what are you supposed to do if your an m1 killer? This honestly should be removed
OMG just play Nurse silly, or maybe if you don't know how to play the tile just leave and chase someone else.
-
They're both extremely strong against ######### teams, which is 90 percent of matches. I would go for Bubba just in case the devs ever grow a brain and remove Myers broken addons.

"I'm a duo or 4 squad survivor player mostly".
this is the main reason you don't understand the reality, that the game is broken in favor of Premade. you have two possibilities to understand; either you start playing killer very often, until you get to a situation where you start to find really capable people (me, for example, with some killers, out of a total of 10 lobbies, I find 5-6 team comps with map offerings, 2 or 3 organized premades, and if I'm lucky 1 or 2 SoloQ lobbies). Or more simply, if you don't want to play killer, you and your team start to become good, I'm not saying comp players or very strong players, just be at least a little organized and with a meta build, you'll see that you win most of the games. To lose you'll have to find a Top Tier killer or a Killer who is maybe not top but who is lucky enough to find a map totally in his favor.
The truth is if you struggle with swf you're just bad at the game, and that's ok. But when you try and say survivor has an advantage under most circumstances it's kind of a joke. I don't fully blame you, I blame the devs for making such a horrible imbalanced game were you're matched with solo/duo q survivors that don't really play and the wins come so easy. It's hard to admit that if survivors actually play smart and don't go down instantly you can't win. But if that's the case the reality is that you need to get better and stop pretending that you're not playing the power role (easy mode) if you're actually decent at the game and trying.

Yeah 5 minutes, just going to get worse unless they can get a popular IP for the next chapter.

There's literally now people on these very forums claiming that Killers such as Ghostface, Trapper, Wraith, and Myers need nerfs after they JUST got much needed buffs this past year, why? Because they have mildly annoying gameplay elements and people for some reason cannot handle learning their counterplay.
These are M1 Killers. Just loop them.
This was literally not a problem even two years ago, nobody complained about these things even six months ago, but now we all do? Why? Just because we successfully got Skurchent nerfed to the point it's gonna be next year before she gets any help at all? Do we really, seriously now, search your soul, want Killers especially M1 Killers to be SO basic, bland, boring, and toothless that they can do next to nothing just because f mechanics BHVR messed up coding? How is that fair to their players? How is that fair to anyone? How does that even challenge us to continue to get better? So what changed? It's obvious - Skurchent was successfully protest-DCed against so much even after needed gameplay changes that she is now nerfed to D tier, just like Freddy before her, and we're starting to see knockon effects on other Killers too. Chucky, who was pretty much OK before his nerf and just needed minor tweaks. Houndmaster is being called at for nerfs after just getting buffs she really needed. Dracula has repeatedly been subjected to nerfs, some of which he didn't need and which make his gameplay feel clunky to his players. I'm seeing Wraith hatred on the upswing again too, not because he can facecamp and proxy easily but because he's apparently "too quick" coming out of cloak. Most recently I am seeing repeated calls for Ghostface's reveal and leanstalking, both of which have always been buggy for the player and the Survivors against him, to be nerfed JUST AFTER he got the most minor of QoL buffs that he absolutely needed, and that everyone agrees mostly still isn't enough to make him viable.
We cannot, CANNOT keep asking BHVR to just nerf every Killer we find even mildly annoying to go against. Come on now, have some faith in your abilities.
What on earth happened to us as Survivor players, the same ones who lived through 3Gen meta? Survivors used to believe in learning tiles and counterplay, using synergy, and TRYING. Where did that go? Are we all really so soft in 2024/2025 that we can't handle dealing with Killers multiple years old now just because they got the minorest of minor QoL buffs to help them keep up with the pace of the game? Are we as Survivor players really so addicted to NEEDING to pop gens in five seconds and loop for multiple gens just because Hens can do it?We're not all Hens. That's OK.
I just don't understand why we now have this need to cry for the blood of any Killer that even remotely has ANYTHING even slightly frustrating to deal with. Surely, there's more constructive ways. These Killers and their players DO NOT deserve to have their favorites nerfed into the ground just because we're all too weak-willed to simply learn the counterplay, counterplay that is often very easy to learn.
What happened to Survivors? Why do we all seem to need our hands held now? Where on earth is our dignity as players? Surely there's worse issues in the game to address than this, right?
"We cannot, CANNOT keep asking BHVR to just nerf every Killer we find even mildly annoying to go against. Come on now, have some faith in your abilities."
Abilities have nothing to do with it, or should I say little to do with it. Nurse (and any of the many killers that were stronger than SM at her peak) do not make at least one survivor DC/quit every single game. No one wanted to play a match with her regardless on if they could win or not. The "bad precedent" was her existence.
-
If they're going to keep in awful mechanics that players can exploit to waste other players time they should at least add a vote to forfeit.

That is not toxicity. The game allows loadout combinations like this to happen. Its not abusing tools, its using tools. Does that make it less of a problem? No. However, its a seperate problem, mostly unrelated to toxicity.
Toxicity is end game chat harassment, writing stuff on peoples steam profiles and, because it goes waaaay beyond simple in game taunting, the notorious humping that some killer players enjoy to do (for whatever reason).
The game allows killers to "hump" and survivors to "teabag." Must not be toxic, lets not use the excuse that just because the game allows it makes it not toxic. I think most the toxicity comes from bad game design, balancing, and matchmaking.

Swf is no different from solo q too, swf scan have frustrating experiences just like solo q, people need to understand that solo q and swf is playing the same role and that is survivor. Survivor as we agree is just hell to play.
No.

@thrkeybs said:
This isn't a topic about balance. I'm not interested in which side you think is stronger, or what needs a nerf. The topic at hand is fun, enjoyment: jouissance.
Survivor is no longer a fun role.
Strictly speaking about how the role "feels", there is no joy in playing survivor anymore.
Being slugged on the ground for 4 minutes is not fun.
Watching a killer proxy camp you, only to immediately chase you and tunnel you out is not fun.
What was fun about this game was the reward of learning loops, pallets, timings. If you played enough, you were rewarded with learning how to get better. If you spent time researching how to play the different tiles, it then became a game of chess between you and the killer: who could better mind game a loop, who could better read the other player.
This is no longer the case, as most tiles have been turned into unsafe loops, where your best play is to force a 50/50.
Most killers are no longer even interested in looping, and understandably so. Why chase a survivor in a strong tile when you can tunnel their teammate out? Lower risk, higher reward.
I know this has been talked about ad nauseam on the forums, but the finisher Mori has really incentivized another really unfun aspect: you already lost the game, as it's just you and someone else, but now you're forced to crawl around on the floor so that the killer can watch their Mori.
Again, I'm not interested in the strength of any of the things I've mentioned — I don't care. I care about having fun, enjoying the game I've paid money for and spent a lot of time investing into. There has to be a way that BHVR can make the game more enjoyable for both sides, and that's what I'm interested in.
Solo survivor is not fun, and it hasn't been for a long time. Devs don't care, obviously most their revenue comes from swf and killer mains.

Oh man the Twins release, epic. I was still playing on ps4 and the game was a mess, unplayable. I upgraded to ps5, I don't know how performance is on ps4 now, or switch lol. I expect last gen is still awful performance wise. Not like this game requires precise timing or anything.

I would sincerely hope they actually listen to the Chucky players who are frustrated about the recent changes to them and not ignore this issue for several months
Off topic but in regards to BHVR response on twitter which I don't feel like responding to directly solo q MMR system has been garbage for years, rank based was better. The constant killing on hook and dc's are a direct response to bad matchmaking. Not saying it's the only reason but I believe its the most prevalent. I just want to be matched with players that play like I do, if I run the killer and do objectives and someone on my team decides to give up instantly first hook or do almost nothing the entire match I expect some reward in terms of matchmaking, you took that away. You the developer has made casual solo q so awful that I no longer judge survivors for giving up, they have no reason to stay in a match they feel is unwinnable. You have truly ruined this game for so many players and I find your response laughable. You don't listen to players, you look at overall stats and how much money you make.

I dunno, did they tell you what they wanted?

Srsly people you need to learn how to play as survivor or find friends and play together. It's only your problem that last survivor doesn't help you and leave you bleeding out. It's not killer's fault that YOUR teammate doesn't care about you and won't help you. It's killer's job to kill ALL survivors and if last one is trying to get hatch then he NEED to leave you on the ground. if you want blame someone then blame devs for creating hatch mechanic like this. Don't blame killer for doing his job.
People do blame the devs, however they do nothing and actually don't even acknowledge the problem. I would like to say that if you insta-down the first survivor in 5 seconds and they kill themself on hook and the rest of the survivors just stop trying and you still choose to slug for the 4k, lol. Wow, you're truly part of this community.

Or the Survivors just seriously misplayed.
I was able to slug 4 people at 4-5 gens with Trapper because some of them just kept rushing hooks before I even left the area and another would keep trying to blind me.It’s not always Killer OP or Matchmaking Bad (though I do think MMR could be improved), a lot of times, the fault is on Survivors for making the wrong choices, not because they weren’t skilled
I feel game sense and mechanical skill are correlated when talking about overall skill. Making bad choices would reflect overall skill.

Do you know which survivor is the happiest in the world? The one who had a fun game with chases and 12 hooks. No.
The happiest survivor in the world is the one who was able to survive his friend's 4-minute timer and was able to escape through a hatch or gate despite all the efforts of the killer to make 4 kills. Because such a survivor deserved his escape.
That was a joke. Now let's talk seriously.
You always miss what kind of opponent you are up against. You just need to know that he is used to always fighting and has great patience.
The killer literally fights with balance, survivors and his attitude towards himself. Naturally, he has already lost the habit of relaxing and being content with 3 kills. Such a killer was literally taught to be effective, that he strives for the best results.
The balance of the game is made so that the killer learns to wear down his opponent. To inflict a thousand cuts instead of one. This develops great patience. Suddenly, what you perceive as a waste of time looks like an exciting hunt in the eyes of the killer. The killer literally has his own idea of time. Consider it a kind of fishing simulator.
However, I would advise everyone to ask these 2 questions. It seems to me that you are looking at the effect, not the cause. When we find the answer to them. We will be able to make DBD better.
Why do only camping, tunneling and slug killers find the current DBD interesting?
Where did the 12 hooks and chase killers go? I only see them on the forum, but not in the game.
Engrish…The cause is horrible game design lol.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
You can’t be slugged for more than four minutes since that’s how long the bleed out timer is.
And no, Killers should not be punished for making the best choice in order to secure a 4k. You’re free to bring in an ant-slug perk to counter them.
Well if a killer can slug the entire team either the killer is broken or matchmaking is, sometimes both.
-
As a solo q survivor with similar hours I can not relate. It does suck when you're tunneled but it happens so infrequently with me I would never make a post about it. What I would complain about is the horrible matchmaking and horrible system in place that completely invalidates individual skill. If you're getting tunneled out constantly I would say practice more, if you're losing constantly even though you do very well in chases and work the objective I would say get a swf or play another game.
-
BHVR must just wants some killers strong and others weak, or they just don't know what they're doing. I think we all know what the reason is.
-
@AlexXHunter44 said:
I play about 50/50 each side.
What I will say, if you decide to camp and tunnel you're only hurting your own progress as a killer.
I don't care if people use the tactics because they are easily countered with basic strategy and are fair game to use, but I usually feel bad the killer will never really improve their game sense and probably get pushed around by better squads as their MMR rises.
Both strats do become more useful against better survivors but only if you actually understand maps, gen pressure and chases.
I mean I've seen plenty killers that are mechanically not very good do extremely well with camping/tunneling. Why do they need to improve? To beat that rare comp swf that is actually trying to gen rush and get out as fast as possible? Most swfs, especially really good swfs mess around a lot. You know what the comp killers do? They tunnel and camp.
-
I'll be the killer here, "So I get punished for killing survivors?" BHVR are never going to get rid of tunneling, too many killers rely on it to feel like they're good at the game.
-
There has always been a big disconnect between the devs and playerbase. I'm convinced that no one that makes gameplay/design decisions actually plays this game at even a basic level.
-
"Maybe the survivor can still make it to a locker instead. This is called PVP."
I don't know why this makes me laugh.

@coldflame said:
seen some back and forth about this over the years and i'm curious what everyone's take is on it
is it bad sportsmanship to intentionally deny the tombstone achivement when you will die either way? i don't think many people would argue that using lockers to avoid dying is bad if you will still be able to continue the game, but for example as the last survivor standing is it fair game to sit in a locker indefinitely for the sole purpose of stopping myers getting their achievement?
personally i can see both sides of this one, i think it's kind of a dick move if i'm being honest but also the survivor isn't really doing anything 'wrong'
It's fun to deny tombstone, there should be an achievement for denying it. Really it shouldn't be in the game at all.

Hooks (before they gave up):
Mikaela - none
Ash - 2nd
David - 1st and 4th
Kate - 3rd
Also my build if it matters:
Hex: Thrill of the Hunt
Hex: Ruin
Hex: Face the Darkness
Hex: Crowd Control (cleansed right before(after?) I got my 3rd hook)
Wow one match and now all survivors hate ghostface. I love the logic of DBD players.

In the Survivor rulebook™ it is bad if the killer slugs for the 4k, or doesn't "be nice" and let one go at the end, but for some reason when survivors stomp the killer, they never let the killer get a pity kill, they always HAVE to play as toxic as possible to get all 4 out. Why is that?
Just asking questions.
There is no survivor rulebook and every 100 losses I might get one killer that lets the last survivor go. The same is probably true for pity kills, however every time I'm in a match when the killer gets absolutely destroyed and someone decides to give them a "pity" kill they don't want it.

I say extremely survivor sided what I mean is I escape more than not, that's extreme compared to how unbalanced and unfair 1v4 solo q is.

This is as serious as it gets IN this game. I don't think there is a single thing you can do on this game other than hacking that completely ruins the experience the way that this does. Not only does it ruin the match it wastes a half an hour or more of your time.. BHVR should look closely at reports during this event and ANY killer who is AFK during this event is simply BANNED from playing in the event.
You have to wait 15 GD minutes to get into a lobby. Only to finally play and your teamamte is some pile of garbage who is purposely AFK. I don't buy that oh they forgot crap for one minute. If that was the case the ENTIRE match wouldn't go by without them moving an inch. This is 100% on purpose.
So now because of this I have to wait a half an hour to MAYBE get to play a single normal killer game? ZERO excuses they should be banned from the mode.
This combined with the long wait has basically ruined this mode for me. I quit yesterday because of an AFK teammate and now today.
and for the love of god INCREASE THE INCENTIVES!!! Is it really hard to comprehend that 250% is like NOTHING at all when you consider you can't use offerings?
250% incentive=basically normal incentive and a single BPS…WHOA!!! Better play with that incentive while it lasts!! Not.
Lol, killers are now solo q in 2v8 lmao!

Any other survivors feel the same? 1v4 just seems so tedious and frustrating compared to 2v8. In 2v8 there's constant excitement, and you get much cooler abilities. It also never feels like games are over in the first 2 minutes like in 1v4, you're able to make a comeback as survivor. I just wish the devs would make 2v8 permanent because it's like an upgraded version of the game.
It would be nice if they always had 2v8 up, tbh it's kinda easy but it offsets 1v4 for solo q anyway. It feels like killers are solo q in 2v8 and that is so funny to me.

Well, you kinda explained yourself why your killer games can feel free and survivor ones impossible to play. Hard to blame self when it's not your fault.
Oh I know the reason, I'm just saying it's hard to imagine anyone struggling with killer, or thinking the game isn't killer sided based on my personal experience as well as stats previously shared that show the game is killer sided at every MMR.
-
"Somehow, people still claim that the game is "killer-sided” which I find absolutely insane. Do we play the same game?"
I guess we don't, I have (compared to solo survivor) a lot easier time winning matches playing killer. When I play as killer half of my wins feel free, and when I play as survivor it feels like 90 percent of my losses feel absolutely impossible to avoid (quitters, memes, just not doing anything teammates.) So yeah I've been playing sinice 2019 with over 5k hours. I'm not saying I'm great but I'm saying I personally feel like I don't deserve how much I lose playing solo and how much I win playing killer.
-
Stats are old, all you have to do is play the game to see the devs aren't right about anything honestly lol.
