Combine gen regression and gen kick perks, add a need to kick a gen that has a high progression accumulated and you get that scenario.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3624426#Comment_3624426
Likewise.
I figured already this forums are just dominated by survivor mains so there's less and less reason to debate about fair balancing of this game.
Wait until you find out what side I main ;)
Hint: I play almost exclusively Killer
-
Incentives do not work.
Make the unhooked Survivor intangible until another Survivor is downed or until they perform a conspicuous action.

Because I'm sure they won't do that. Watch the wave of survivor main complaints and they will reduce these events from 8 to 5 instead.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3624356#Comment_3624356
There's no such thing as 3 gen main. Regardless, I don't defend 3 gens from the start like some people do as a killer. As survivor I try to avoid 3 gen by repairing at least one gen in the middle of the map.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3624368#Comment_3624368
Yes. Let's continue dictating how Killers should be playing this game so Survivors could have their fun maximized. Way to talk about freedom and fair play afterwards.
It's clear you have zero interest in fun lol
I have zero interest in engaging with someone so unrepentantly biased.

Cool, promote a game progression. Just so you know, tunneling someone asap is also a game progression. In this upcoming meta, it will be even more important and more beneficial. Now ask yourself who will be suffering the most from it.
Until we actually decide to do something about that.

Not because it's current effect was bad, but because in new meta it will be even worse.
It's not a superb effect to begin with but yes, that's how meta shifts work. Things become worse.

Why you are so fixated by the idea that killer is holding a 3 gen from the start?
You do realize that this mechanic triggers from start and doesn't take consideration of all other scenarios that cause 3 gen. It just makes sure that 3 gen can't happen at all at the cost of killer's gen defense potential and does reward survivors for doing gens asap.
You should not be able to hold a 3-gen indefinitely.
You should need to advance the game. Simply continuing to kick 3 gens isn't progressing the game.
Eight events is a LOT. If you can't manage a single down in that time, that's on you.

Sure, lets punish killer more for using a perk and getting any benefit from it more and more.

Again, if I decide to get a benefit from Surge by putting pressure on weak link and getting it downed more often I end up punished for it. Very smart and productive change.

But perks like eruption are more heavily nerfed, because eruption triggers an event twice. Once for the kick, and once again for the explosion. So now eruption can be at most used 4 times per gen. Which is starting to get very limiting.
Little bit deserved for Eruption, but I agree, it needs a new effect entirely.

You do realize that the entire 3 gen situation was caused by either bad survivor play or bad gen spawn that devs didn't manage to fix? What does this solution do? Right - punish killers. Think a bit next time before you post.
As it should.
Stop holding 3-gens from the start of the match. That's the ONLY way you're damaging a single gen EIGHT separate times bud.
You do realize that it's not a sign of skill to run 4 gen regression perks and sit in a 3-gen.
-
If you are managing to kick a single gen 8 times, that's on you.
Stop holding 3-gens from the start lol

Ok. Thought you like short answers.
I played during the time where there was no penalty. You could dc and there would be no time out.
I had survivors quitting for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes just because of the killer I played, the map, that they got found first, no deliverance, dh didn't work out offerings not fine and so on.
It was honestly ridiculous. I quit playing the game after a couple of days because i barely got any games where all five played the game out.
This is not how the game should be. If someone doesn't want to play, they should maybe rethink before going into a lobby before ruining the game for the other 4. Maybe it's not their day to play dbd. The others should have to suffer for that. A bot doesnt make it better.
This is a problem with the selfish mindset many players in this game have. "I dont like to play anymore, therefore I quit. I dont care about the others".
Maybe don't start playing then?
Everyone knows how the game is. Therefore they should know what they can encounter. Going into a match, seeing that it's a killer you dont like and quitting is not ok.
"But you can't force people to play something they dont like!"
Of course you can't. But maybe these players that quit by the first sight of a killer they don't like, a map they don't like, a perk they don't like or an item they do t like should seriously reconsider before pushing that start button.
Quitting every match until you find that soloq - group or that no - slowdown - Hillybilly is insane. A lot of players think that way. You know it, I know it.
I stand by my point. I like to play matches out.
This was my Ted talk.
And so what do you propose?
The game cannot go on like this indefinitely. People DC, people AFK, people suicide every game.
Players are massively burnt-out due to either extremely unfun Killers, maps or perks. When a good percentage of the playerbase despises 45% of the roster, there's a HUGE issue.

The bias is astounding.
Your statement was "killer should not get a free kill in endgame because they lost the game" my response is "survivor should not get 4 second chances to escape because they also lost the game" You have to beat survivors 3 times in order to kill 4 of them. You have to beat them at the base game. Beat them to the hatch, and then beat them at the gate. Why do they get so many chance yet killers get 0?
You are conflating free kill with a chance to kill.
You shouldn't get a free Kill, but sometimes you do. You shouldn't get a free escape, but sometimes you do.
If you take away Hatch, the Survivor does not have a chance to escape.
Killers still have a good chance to get a Kill in the EGC.

But there should be counterplay. Also, who was talking about free kills? There should be a chance of securing a kill, no one mentioned free kills here.
You physically cannot get a kill if the Survivors coordinate and have 2 healthy Survivors do the unhook. They walk out with a free basekit BT
Not having Endurance is a free kill lmao that's literally exactly what you're asking for, at least own it.
There is already counter-play, you can almost always get a trade and often that snowballs. You simply don't enjoy putting thought or effort into counter-play.
-
Skull Merchant because...yuck.
Nurse because she makes me violently motion sick.
Pretty much every Survivor besides Steve, Nancy and Rebecca.
-
Not really an issue.
They don't deserve a free escape, that much is true. They need to perform a difficult action and hope you don't play it correctly.
You do not deserve a free kill for simply existing during the end game.

Dude, that’s some harsh abuse you and others have suffered/ are suffering, playing this game.
I certainly have experienced it, but (and thankfully) not to the unfortunately, consistently high levels too many (probably majority of) DBD players have, in enduring the onslaught of toxicity from other players.
It’s beyond upsetting just thinking people are being told to end their lives for playing a game. I know it’s happening everyday; and that we’re all not experiencing it personally, as frequently as others, brings the reality of how disturbing it really is, so much more into focus.
I’d like to believe that people, overall, are good natured, and that it’s the world that has twisted individuals, inside, to being tortured beyond the bearability of one’s psyche’s threshold, and really upsetting the balance between good and evil of their conscious… I really don’t know, tho, if it’s actually all just birthed into their DNA.
The game consistently brings out the worst in the best people.

A lot would change.
I played during the "No DC penalty" period.
I had almost no games as killer because everyone just quit. There's a nice video of cmwinter showcasing this.
Right now, most of my games are played out to the end. I rarely have DC. I sometimes have people giving up, but no DC.
Giving this option to this playerbase ends in chaos.
Sorry. Agree to disagree.
Did you actually play during the period of the game that had no penalty for leaving or did you play while it was disabled. There's a MASSIVE difference.
Way back when, I saw DC's just as much as I see hook suicides or DC's now, the reason they were more numerous for you is because disabling the DC penalty is a new shiny toy, it would fade in novelty. There's no reason to have a system to punish people who DC when we have bots. All that does is encourage people to suicide on hook instead.
-
DBD is still the only game where it's affected my personal life through harassment and/or threats.
DBD is still the only game where I would get several messages weekly telling me how and why I should off myself.
DBD is still the only game where I've been consistently targeted and DDoS'd for months when trying to play.
It is by far the most toxic community I've been a part of.

1) There’s so much visibility on this map, that SWFs will use voice comms to warn each other where the killer is.
2) Head On SWFs really like this map, because there are lockers in narrow places, so the killer can’t realistically follow a survivor and avoid being too close to a locker.
3) Boil Over SWFs really like this map, because if someone gets knocked down in the saloon’s 2nd floor side room, then it’s an absolute nightmare for a killer to get them on a hook.
TD;LR Surprise! The map is miserable for killers because of SWFs using voice comms for extra game advantages.
That means nothing when the loops are all bad.
Head On isn't a viable perk.
Boil Over, whilst extremely aggravating, isn't a viable perk.
Surprise! You should never lose on this map as Killer. There's a reason they give it to Killers like Wraith in comp. It's extremely Killer-sided.
-
I think it should swap with Overcharge.
Overcharge's skill check will still continue and give you a chance to hit it whilst running. I think that should be a base effect and that Overcharge should instantly fail if you let go.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
The failed skill check % should increase every time a survivor leaves an unfinished generator, to discourage them from excessively pre-leaving generators to hide.

Shouldn't reporting help right there? You can use the same filter they're using now to censor to automatically filter which reports should be looked at and in which the reporter shouldn't be a baby
It's BHVR.
Most people don't know how to report things and the process is so long that even I don't bother.
Plus, they've got to sift through all the reports of tunneling and t-bagging to find any legitimate issues.
Also, ######### that attitude. People shouldn't have to be called slurs and then get called a baby for being upset.
-
As a Killer, a 4K at 2+ gens is a win, anything else is a loss.
As Survivor, two people getting out is a win in this day and age.
-
There shouldn't be DC penalties.
Ideally, we'd have Killer bots, but that's actually pretty difficult to program.
It only screws over toxic people, which is a certified W. People who DC at every inconvenience? Well, they never really get to play a game. People who enjoy making others miserable? They also get ######### because people will just DC. Also helps with burnout and allows players to feel in control. The average player doesn't DC unless they are at their wits end.
Definitely better than trying to force players to play a miserable game that they have no interest in playing.
Also, shoutout to that one guy who said that DC penalties should eventually result in a hardware perma-ban.

Because some people literally couldn't help themselves and absolutely had to spam slurs and other horrific #########.

So bomb rushing the hook doesn't work?
That's new to me. I dont play Bubba.
I have survivors unhooking right after I hooked. I just hooked and seconds later, a survivor rushes in and unhooks. Jokes on me, they have deliverance.
Camping and tunneling are not the "fix all" - solutions for killer. If your not playing a character that has the ability to down fast, both strategies can cost you the match.
I'm all for less camping and tunneling in dbd but that's not what the game seems to indicate right now.
If you can't tunnel or camp effectively, that's on you, it is not hard.

What maps are you guys talking about? Temple of Purgation and Rancid Abattoir fit in your examples, these two maps are just one big deadzones with shack, but it's literally two maps.
Eyrie is still pallet heaven, Mother's Dwelling is pretty balanced in terms of loops, Borgo now is one of the most balanced maps in the game imo, same as Cowshed. All new Macmillans are pretty good too. Garden of... you know yourself.
So what is this drama about?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3621404#Comment_3621404
Daaaaamn that's why it's one of the most popular offerings in my games through years, especially after Borgo's nerf. Survivors just want to have balanced map, right.
But, to be fair, survivors love it because of big size and excellent visibility across it, so you pretty much always know where killer is. But on a half of loops it's easy to get a hit on dropped pallet. It's heaven for ranged killers (if they have a really good chases, because it's impossible to control this map on 4,4) and killers with mobility. Otherwise it's a really hard map for killers, especially stealth ones.
It's because of the main building, not the actual loops.
I don't know that you were around for the original map adjustments. I'm not sure there's many left that were around then

I thought the excessive camping situations where the main target they wanted to tackle.
In my opinion, that worked.
Camping will never go away. The killer would have to be a Bot themselves. If a player decides to camp, they will camp.
Best that can be done is to give the player a reason to leave. Limiting where you can be is not the best course of action if you ask me. It always feels bad.
Last but not least, why is this a lose lose situation? A survivor gets unhooked. That's a win situation in my book. Sure it's just an exchange, but that's better to how it was not too long ago with hook grabs rewarding literal face camping.
What we have now is undoubtedly better, but hopefully not the final solution.
They do not get unhooked if the Killer has any sort of brain.

That's what we've been waiting for!

Deadzones don't really matter when the survivors can see the killer coming from a mile away. They have plenty of time to pre run. The visibility of the map helps the survivors more than the killer. Especially if its a stealth killer.
And a map being so big that you are encouraged to ignore huge parts of it is not balanced. This issue is going to become even worse once the 3 gen nerf drops.
There are quite a few maps that are worse than Ormond but i would not call it balanced.
Not even going to dignify that

The thing that you give killers to do has to be basekit and in opposition to tunneling.
For example, if you only want to play the math game and not come up with something interesting, you could do something like;
Fear: Every hook state on a living survivor gives a token which reduces survivor’s healing and repair speed by 10%. This effect cannot exceed 50% healing and repair speed reduction. When a survivor dies all tokens are lost.
If you had three hook states on three different survivors, that’s 30%. That’s more value than hooking the same survivor 3 times by 5%. Congratulations, no one is going to tunnel. There’s no reason to.
How do you counter it? Don’t get hooked.
You cannot make something to encourage Killers to not tunnel because unless it's blatantly OP, TUNNELING WILL ALWAYS BE STRONGER.
Your suggestion falls into the former category.

1) “Playing with friends” and “using voice comms for extra game advantages” are completely different things
2) People can be supportive of “playing with friends”, but still dislike the extra game advantages that voice comms can give.
3) It’s possible to dislike voice comms being used for game advantages, and not be “absolutely railed” against people playing with friends.
"You can play with friends but don't you dare talk to them"
You can't even regulate it, and people who hate it are ridiculous, so once again the better example would be MMR

I think the issue is whether or not you are willing to make a similar statement if the roles were reversed.
For example, if someone asks whether or not voice comms were more acceptable in the past compared to now, would you make a reply, reminding everyone that voice comms were never truly accepted by players?
No, because it's always been a vast minority of people who have absolutely railed against people playing with friends.
Almost every reasonable person understands that the game needs that to survive.
A better example would be about MMR, tbh.
