Trial by fire is the best way to learn I think. If you have it easy the first X number of games, what are you going to learn?
Calm seas do not make a good sailor.
-
I don’t pay attention because I’m a paranoid schizophrenic constantly swiveling my camera around as I repair when a killer isn’t chasing someone else.
Thats the one thing the survivor HUD has killed - the suspense factor.
-
I may be new on these forums, but I started playing around … autumn 2018? 2019? Months before the ruin nerf. I got so obsessed and frustrated with this game back then. Wasn’t good for me.
I took like a 2 year break. Found fun in plenty of other games.
Now I’m back playing as of December 2022 with a better perspective, less obsessed/frustrated/emotional and enjoy playing killer without being bothered anymore to the point of getting so angry.
When I get a few wins as killer I take a break, quit while I’m ahead, then play survivor or just do something else.
When I lose alls killer it still sucks but I’m not like planet Aldereen that’s been destroyed by the Death Star.
You just have to learn how to not let this game or anything in life get to you.

Worst take ever.
As an older Dredge/Bubba/Twins/Hag/Doctor/Gunslinger player, on console, who doesn’t use Eruption (Scourge PR sometimes), who doesn’t camp or tunnel, I still get my 2-4K’s.
Do I lose too? Yup! But my 0k matches I’ve gotten at least 6 hooks. Just sometimes can’t hook anyone the third time until the very end.

It's so random. There are dozens of perks that could really use a buff and they give a big one to a perk that is already pretty good.
Of ALL the perks to adjust, THIS ONE?? SMH

I’ll never understand this company.
How do you create things and then regret creating them so you destroy the things you created.
Get your shite together.
Do they have any foresight whatsoever?
Like goddam.

On a related sidenote: killers have next to no tools to screw with survivors perception, while they have a whole toolkit of spins, 360s, fake window vaults, dumb techs etc.
I would love for killers to have a true fake pickup, like hold shift while picking a survivor up to start the pickup animation and then auto drop the survivor before you hoist them up.
With killers like Demo or Hag you can sometimes ferret inexperienced survivors out by using your power instead of starting the pickup, but I would really love for killers to have some native options to play around and try to mindgame survivors instead of just being big, dumb brutes that can only tank control.
A fake palette kick/interruptable kick could be another fake arsenal that wouldn't be too strong, but help spice things up a bit.
How about this: killer picks up survivor, puts over shoulder, THEN…..
uses their free hand to keep the pallet in place as they walk away! 🤣
Like… killer has a free hand. Can’t even put it up over it’s eyes to prevent flashlight blinds, needs a perk.
Give killers some alternative keybind or controller button to do things with their free hand besides just attack.

I've come back after 6 months and can't say I'm impressed with the DH sprint burst lol.
I'm rusty so might adjust to baiting it better but what has got on my nerves is when someone does it close range I can't see the flash.
I look to the ground thinking I downed them and poof they are gone. Make a noise notification for god sake.
Also have got it mixed up with BT at times. Would it be hard to make it flash a different colour.
I have had this same issue.

Something outside the box. Something new, different and fun. That’s all I ever want.
-
Make it 5!

a knight killer could have been so different and fun. Maybe instead of having guards, the knight power was switching between guard abilities himself. He could have become a slow killer but with more power, a quick killer with less of something, and then the third power.
Or designed a knight killer that does something altogether different! I don’t know what bit def not this.
I don’t play Pig because she’s horrible and the traps are terrible. I’m def not playing knight because he’s a slow clumsy clunking …. thing.
Not trying to be mean to BEhaviour, but… :/

i can't speak for everyone. but i do remember the lobby dodging issue. that would have been easy to fix. league of legends has a punishment system for lobby dodgers. 🤷🏻♂️
at this point we don't even need the lobby. just throw us into a match. why should i spend an additional 2 minutes waiting on people to ready up? that's a side effect of the old killer host system, but now we have a dedicated host and people that disconnect are (supposedly) punished for leaving. why should we sit through an additional loading screen and menu option? when you ready up it should lock your loadouts and your character. no more stream snipers and no more last second item swaps
This.
Not to derail, but Why do Survivors get last minute swap and killer doesn’t?
As far as win rates, no one likes being tunneled and camped. Why do killers do it? Because the game is unbalanced. Because weak killers. Bad maps. Bad RNG. Bad loops , double window vaults, etc
Killer should be the power role. Does that mean killer should always win & stomp? Absolutely not. But agsinst competent survivors or 4 man SWF Killer especially the weaker ones don’t stand a chance many times.
Since the core mechanics of the game won’t change, something else has to.

I am a red rank killer (for whatever that’s worth these days) on console and I never tunnel (except for those times when I accidentally run into the unhooked survivor when I was trying to chase someone else)
I have been playing Dredge last few days. (Having fun and success with Starstruck + Agitation + Distressing and a 4th flex perk usually Nowhere to Hide or tried and true Lightborn if I see flashlights in the lobby). I have been getting some consistent 4K’s.
I still lose some games, sure. But this is the first time I’ve ever gotten into the red ranks. Couple years ago I had trouble getting past green ranks.
I also main Bubba, Plague, sometimes Hag (her playstyle is kinda bleh) and a little Onryo here and there.
So if I can get into red ranks (without tunneling / camping etc) anyone can.

Why. Isn’t. It. A. Castle!?!?
Let the decimated nonsense be what we see beyond the castle walls.
But give us a castle already! What a wasted opportunity for something similar to RPD but all castley and stuff! With armored knights on display, a throne room, all of it!
What a blown opportunity.

Every single killer in this game should be a challenge for survivors to escape from. They are supposed to be POWERFUL KILLERS.
This game went to sh!t when they added SWF. That’s one reason.

ya huntress very hard to play without tunneling or slowdowns or anything like that, granted they all had lithe but like, I don't see why dead hard matters so much lmao.
@Seanzu youre a console huntress? Please teach me the ways! I’m on console and I avoid killers you need to aim with using controller. I’m an ex-PC player. How do you aim well with controller????

IG is better than Agitation, is not a meme perk, is versatile, is underrated, and is almost necessary in today’s DBD:
- No more being bothered by wiggling or by Boil Over. Say goodbye to bumping into things! With agitation you may gain speed but you are still prone to the wiggle effect and more so Boil Over. Not with IG.
- Can get to almost any hook even ones further away when you down a survivor in the corner of the map
- almost necessary when running a Scourge build - guaranteed scourge hook every time
- Great when going against Sabo squads or just the random trying to sabotage a hook. Just turn and find another hook, plenty of time !
- 1 body blocker won’t be problem. Run this with agitation and mad grit and you’ll never have that issue. But that’s overkill in my opinion because I don’t run into that many body blockers to warrant 3 perks dedicated to that.
I run IG on every killer, always, along with Lightborn most of the time unless everyone in the lobby has tool & med kits.
-
I’ve been playing him non stop for the first time these past three days! I also came here to make a post asking about builds.
What perks and addons do y’all like to run?
Addons: I always use the skull. After that it’s flexible: maybe lavalier, field recorder, the 1 second less exiting locker, broken doll..
Perks: I run Iron Grasp (I like it better than Agitation) on all my killers mainly for 3 reasons: to get to a scourge hook, and to get to another hook if a survivor sabo’s one, and just to make life easier carrying survivors.
Aura reading build: BBQ is hit or miss I feel. The Scourge hook is good. I haven’t run Nurses Calling yet. I tried I’m All Ears but didn’t seem to get much value from that.
Anti healing build: Sloppy Butcher & Scourge hook with the heal/repair penalty both seem ok since the idea is to proc Nightfall as much as possible. I still run Iron Grasp with this, and not sure about the 4th perk. Maybe overcharge.
Gen slowdown: I don’t run these types of builds. I can get 2-4K without them. If I’m going to lose against good survivors this isn’t going to change that.
Gen info build: Tinkerer and Discordance, not sure what else besides those 2, maybe Deadman’s Switch and Overcharge.
Like any killer not named Nurse the problem I have with Dredge is against a good team. I was in The Game last night which any other killer I felt I probably would have won. But they were popping gens and running away from gens whenever I started chase, and lockers were just not helpful. That’s part of the problem with it (him? Her?)
Any advice against good survivors would be appreciated!

Ready for this?
I was a survivor in The Game map against a bubba. 2 survivors DC’d early in the game. I don’t even know how many gens were done, maybe 1. 2 of us left.
Know what Bubba still did after the other only remaining survivor was found and hooked? Became basement Bubba and Hid in the corner where the chest usually is with insidious!
Like, my brother in Christ, there are only 2 of us left and like 3-4 gens to do! Why are you going so hard and sweaty like this? Loool
Anyway whenever I play killer, esp Bubs, I don’t camp or anything. I like going for mixed hooks. No hexes, no slowdowns maybe Overcharge but mostly things like BBQ , agitation, Lightborn etc.
I rarely rarely see anyone camping these days.
-
I’ve alluded to this before in a post I made about the hud, it’s still not to going help determine WHO should go for the save and who should stay on gens.
If someone is on hook, and all 3 other survs are on gens, then one gets chased, now it’s you and another person still on gen. That other person may never leave gen . They could be waiting for YOU to leave. Or they might not leave period. Hell, we’ve all died on hooks because a survivor refuses to leave gen and save us.
Or, that person leaves gen and you think okay they are going for save, but they just go hide or roaming the map looking to light a boon.
So the info is nice and in many cases helpful, but there still the grey area of who is going for the save - one of them or me?
We haven’t even talked about you being solo and end up with 3 survivors memeing who die before any gens are complete so there’s that too!
-
I am a gold rank 3 console killer and I play about 4-6 killer games at night. I win a bunch then take a break and play survivor (red rank 3) to “chill”.
Anyway I played Dredge the first time last night after practicing against bots. I “won” all 3-4 games with 3-4K’s. My perks were aura reading and Lightborn a couple times because I went up against a flashlight SWF. My Dredge is only P1 after spending almost 2 million BP’s to unlock / upgrade all killer perks.
I don’t know what SWF or solos I went up against or their MMR, but I’ve been playing this game the past 2 months after a very long break and I’m definitely not going up against low MMR’s, not with the way they loop or do 360 tech, etc.
Since I am on console I avoid killers that require aiming their powers because joystick aiming precision is a joke compared to PC. I mainly play Bubba, dredge (now), Hag, vomit mommy, annnd that’s it mostly. Have a P9 gunslinger but stopped playing him years ago after they needed him. I have to try Wesker.
So my only advice is it can all depend on killer, map, perks, survivors and your skill level. You on PC? You should do better with killers like huntress and cenobite who need to aim their powers.
See flashlights in your lobby? Equip Lightborn.
I avoid gen slow downs and hexes and still get 3-4K’s.
Do I get stomped? Yes. Just depends on killer, map, survivors I’m going against and outliers like: did I waste too much time chasing a survivor? Did I waste too much time just at the start of the trial in going the wrong direction to find survivors?
Survivor at a strong loop or running to a dead zone ? Know to give up chase.
i go into every trial with the mindset that i want to have fun and I might lose. I don’t worry TOO much about 3-4 gen strategy (unless I’m playing Hag).
-
It’s. Not. The. Same. As. SWF. At. All.
For many reasons, namely unable to communicate things like “I’ll go for the save, you stay on gens” or “killer is Myers” at the beginning or other things like that.
Wow, I can see gen progress. Doesn’t make ppl who can’t loop or do 360 tech (like me) into great survivors all of a sudden.
It doesn’t tell WHICH gen is progressing until you scramble around the map trying to find it.
So us solos survivors, at least ppl who unfortunately end up playing with me, still get 3-4k’d by killer.
If the killer is good this stuff doesn’t matter.
