If the totems didn't make any noise, you'd never find them. Default killer fov is way too small.

Maybe it's just me, but I never really have an issue spotting totems, and you have a fair idea of where totems spawn anyways.

I disagree with it, for starters to make it even remotely balanced, it would need to spawn in randomly just like hexes, and it would need an increased time to snuff, not an instant snuff. They would also have to give survivors their own unique totems because there aren’t enough totems to support boons, and hexes at once, especially if one Boon perk could only go on one individual totem.

A one time bless would take away all the value to survivors, and it would barely be used as the risk outweighs the reward by a long shot.

Forcing killers to have to seek out and snuff a boon, would also add another objective on the killers plate. Time is already so incredibly valuable to killers, and having to devote time to snuffing multiple totems at an increased time to snuff just gives the survivors free time to rush gens. They would be better off leaving the boons up rather than wasting time seeking and snuffing a boon.

I never said the survivors start the trial with a boon already active.

Also, you said survivors wouldn't waste time blessing a totem when they could do generators, but then in the next sentence you said the killer won't look for the boons as survivors will gen rush. Do doesn't that mean if the survivors spend time blessing a boon, they can use the time the killer is searching for the boon to do gens?

Think about it. 12-14 seconds for one survivor, while the other 3 do gens, is not a lot. Now imagine the killer having to find that boon, and snuff it out. There's one killer. One. That means while the killer is searching for the boon, there's no other killer to go after survivors. So that's where you have to make the choice. Will I go for the boon or the survivors? Will I go for the boon or for the generators?

If killer can destroy boons forever, then boons will need buffs.

First: CoH will be 100% heal speed again.

Second: Boons will not be loud anymore, they will be quiet like hex totems.

    Third: Range should be larger.

And i am okey with this change. And killer should destroy totem itself. So with this way, killer will have chance to use Pentimento

I pretty much said all of this, but yeah, I agree

And to the topic: its a pvp game, other team is your enemy dont expect anything from them and they shouldnt expect anything from you

Yeah, did that thanks. Basically, just play killer like a killer, and forget your conscience, as you can't rely on others to have a conscience. Gotcha

"WHAT IS THE RATIONALE BEHIND THE WIGGLE BUFF?"

    That's what you asked.

The answer is it was changed because it helps people with accessibility concerns. Whether or not you like that answer is irrelevant. That's the answer.

Yeah, the question they asked was "What was the rationale behind the wiggle BUFF". Not "What was the rationale behind changing the wiggle mechanic". If you can't even read what you're typing yourself, I'm not surprised you couldn't understand the title correctly.

Side note: Super cool that they're being considerate about players with physical impairments. (And the bonus of not destroying players' controllers/keyboards).

  • The only thing there's no counter to is the way you spelled "Truly". (No hard feelings, just a funny thought I had while going through the thread)

Like survive while other survivors escape, which means you have to escape last.

I often stay at the gate to give the killer a hit or two so they get points for that, I don't clicky-clicky or teabag tho, I've played killer enough to know how annoying it is.

Sometimes I'll give a pity sacrifice but last times I played I've been conflicted about that cause I don't want a killer who struggled against me (not a really good survivor) to increase their MMR and face stronger opponents

Yeah, this is why I never expect either side to give pity in relation to escaping/sacrificing as the MMR system is just so broken.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Right okay so here's how the devs have explained it before.

Bloodpoints you earn from matches are put into the "Regular" Pool. This is capped at 1mil.

Bloodpoints you earn from log-in bonuses, Grade Reset, The Archives, or Daily Rituals are put into the "Bonus" Pool. This is capped much closer to 999mil.

The Bonus Pool is always consumed first- say you have 3,000 Bonus points and 4,000 Regular points, those 3,000 Bonus points will always be spent first.

Ahhh, thank you, this makes it so much clearer now. Does this mean that even if you have over 1,000,000 BP in your Bonus Pool that you can still earn BP in your regular pool if you haven't hit its 1,000,000 BP limit?

Survivors are humans as well, as killers are also toxic.

This is definitely true, but as someone who frequents both sides of the trial, I can say I have faced toxic survivors way way more than toxic killers. Just from personal experience though.

  • @CashelP14 said:

There's no need to for people to sit at the exit doors to deliberately be toxic. If you weren't toxic to them, then they shouldn't be toxic. However I can't say that everyone waiting at a door is doing it to be toxic.

Survivors also are played by humans, who may want to progress in the game by doing challenges or getting more bloodpoints. Unfortunately for you sometimes this requires them to wait at the door longer to get hit out. Could be WGLF stacks or protection hit challenge or something else.

Oh yeah, I definitely understand this, and there is the challenge of letting other survivors escape before you while still alive in the trial, but it's when you have a team sitting together at the gate refusing to move until you force them out that's annoying. And it's not even "let's give the killer a free hit and then we'll escape". It's literally "haha, gonna sit here until the killer hauls ass and hits each and every one of us once/twice and then we escape". Just unnecessary to be honest.

(Note: This post only applies to Survivors who fall into this mindset. Obviously, not every Survivor thinks this way.)

Sometimes it does feel like there's this massive double-standard in the DBD community.

    Killer gets a 4K:

Survivors: OMG! Tryhard! Sweaty Killer! Crutch Perks! Sweatlord give hatch! Be happy w/ 3K!

    Survivors get a 4E:

Survivors: Baby killer! Noob! Uninstall! *Crouch-spams in the exit gates* Git gud!

I have never EVER had a Survivor give me a pity kill. But I'm put on blast every match I don't give a pity escape.

And I freaking HATE BP events. I try to farm? Survivors slam gens and twerk out the exit gates, and insult me as above. If I try to win? Survivors insult me for being a sweat, tryhard, and/or ruining the event.

There seems to be this thought in part of the Survivor community (Not all Survivors), that Killers are expected to make THEM happy. That Killers are supposed to make Survivors have fun before trying to win, because Killers can remove people from the game, and that's MEAN! 😥

Any Killers, Perks, or Tactics that they hate; Killers are disallowed from using. And if a Killer does use them; this is a valid excuse to insult, belittle, and threaten said Killers. Because said Killers were 'Toxic first' by using Killer/perk/tactic that Survivors decide are toxic.

NoED? Toxic; you deserve the death threats. Camping? BM; learn to play. Slugging? Toxic; going to be told to off yourself. Etc. etc.

And part of the insane beauty of this mindset is that what is camping/slugging/tunneling varies from Survivor to Survivor. I once got called a 'proxy facecamper'. Even though 'facecamping' means standing at the hook, and 'proxy camping' means moving away but coming back, or not moving too far away. Yes; I was Hang. But my traps were in chokepoints/pallet points. Not at the hook itself. The rescued Survivors DID NOT have to hold crouch to avoid a trap. And I did this EVERY TIME. Anyone with half a brain woulda void, or crouch through, chokepoints. Not them, and thus it was my fault.

But Killers are fully expected to not only obey these fake rules, but know what each and every Survivor considers camping, slugging, and tunneling, per Survivor, per game. Or get insulted, threatened, and told to off oneself.

It just sucks the fun out of the game to be blasted for trying too hard. Then be blasted for losing. Then be blasted because THIS Survivor hates Doctor. Then be blasted because this NEXT Survivor hates Trapper. Then THIS one fully expected the Hatch for being Last Survivor, and it's my fault I did not give baby his bottle/hatch like he wanted.

It's gods damned mentally exhausting to see a legit 'gg' once every 15 matches, instead of 'ggez'. If Survivors want to know why their queue times are going up so high, it's because playing Killer right now is like being a Plumber; even your best day is going to catch allot of crap.

And yes, before anyone says so; it does happen in reverse. There ARE toxic Killers who will pick apart perk choices, and scream about being pallet stunned, and say things like 'You held W real well, scrub!'

Both sides need to step TF back and treat each other like human gods damned beings. The world sucks hard enough without beating all fun out of a freaking VIDEO GAME.

Mmm well said, especially including that killers can be toxic aswell. Personally, I've never really experienced a killer being toxic when I play survivor, bar when I face Bubba. It's like 7/10 Bubbas I face love to 360 when they down you, or rev their Chainsaw until it overheats, etc. Something I've come to notice as I play more Survivor is that most of the time, my Unbroken Emblem quality doesn't even effect my rank progression. Whether I get a Sliver, or an Iridescent, I still get 1 pip, provided I played well in other aspects. So giving killers mercy kills isn't even all that bad after all.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/305498/killers-are-humans-too

    Very well put.

I have said it a few times, and I will say it again: Killers are the more altruistic factions of the two. The altruism between the factions is the only real and pure altruism, because you get no in-game reward for it, but quite on the contrary, even reduce your actual reward for the round.

If a killer totally dominates and crushes the survivors, it is quite often, sometimes even expected, that the killer shows some pity and gives the last one the hatch, at least if thes did't play like total douches all game.

The altruism that flows from the survivors towards the killer is much, much rarer, though, and in my 400h+ I only encountered 4 seperate instances of Survivor-Killer-Altruism.

    1) First one was Oni on Haddonfield. I had a few bad matches, and then playing Haddonfield literally broke me for the night. So after three or four gens flying bye with survivors just occasionally flitting over the street, I just gave up and stood there on the street. After a minute or so survivors noticed and cautiously approached me. I even turned to look at them, but didnt't give chase, why bother? But then one after another they all gived me their items and lay them in front of me. After that I chased them a bit around, and we even had a little turn-around dance in front of the exit gate. We then waved each other good bye and I felt much better.

    2) My second one was very impactful for me and on Gas Heaven. The survivors totally dominated and crushed me, and even though I purposefully didn't go for the unhooked survivors, t-bagging and clickety clicking was my only reward. Until the exit gates opened and a Claudette, who I spared earlier, apporached me. She would then walk over to a hook and wave at me, giving me my very first mercy hook. I was so touched and we are now steam friends.

    3) The third was on one of the Forest maps. After getting crushed and run circled around by the survivors, and bad mannered by a few, I just gave up. A Nancy noticed, and took a long look at me, before she zoomed off. When the exit gates opened the Nancy returned, with her SWF Jeff in tow, and both of them game me a mercy sacrifice. They wouldn't move to the exit gate, even after two hooks I motioned over there.

    4) The last one was on Grim Pantry. I had a bad day and nothing was going my way, even though it wasn't the survivors fault. Just when the last gen popped I finally downed a Feng, actually my very first down that trial. And while she lay there in front of me, I thought "Ah well, everyone played really good this match, but now we will have this ugly camping for that one kill and they will probably still all escape. F-that" and so I picked her up and hauled her over to the exit gate, where I dropped her down and opened the gate myself.

The other survivors kinda panicked and run away in all directions... all save on Jeff, who had a certain divine quality, with his long hair and serene face. He approached me without fear and looked me in the eye. He then healed the Feng and walked over to a hook, giving me a mercy hook. Some of the other survivors unhooked him, but he wouldn't budge and stubornly give me a mercy sacrifice. What a man!

So the altruism towards killers exists, but its very rare and I am sure that a lot of survivor players wouldn't even think about it in their wildest dreams, its just that alien a concept to most. But every single one of this instanced burned itself into my mind and left a lasting impression, helping in mending the rift between survivors and me, the killer. I am much more inclinded to give a mercy hatch now, and even let two survivors escape, when I totally dominated the round. A bit less vitriol would do us all good.

This is even better put, and much more understandable than my own OP. Good for you, and thanks for your comment😊

They are humans who want to play as killers though 😯

In all seriousness i don't understand why people like to make other people feel bad. I wish more people where of the mindset of "blame the game, not the player." Shaming other people into acting how you want them to is a horrible thing to do.

I don't expect people to give free kills, or even free hits, and I may have worded my OP a little bit badly, but it's certain things like waiting at the exit gates until the killer runs the whole way across the map to force you out that are just really unnecessary. If I was the blame the game, then it would defy the fact that teabagging is actually an essential crouch mechanic in the game. It's your choice as Survivor to teabag, the game doesn't force, or even require you to do so.

  • @KolbyKolbyKolby said:

I'll heal in the exit gate all I want, that's free points. If you don't like it, hit me out, not that hard.

Ok, on re-read, I shouldn't have said heal because that's valid for BP, but the other points still stand.

  • So it's between the sound of me hitting the survivor, versus the pallet stunning me reaching the server first? So I assume the same kind of interaction applies to stunning Bubba with a pallet while he's sweeping, versus Bubba doing the sweeping pallet break animation? Or is that just down to straight timing and mechanics?

I play Leatherface when I'm in a bad mood and I will definitely camp 🙄🤦 Imo, this killer is weak against looping and strong if camping. This is not balanced at all.

This is definitely something I agree with, and think is unbalanced. No, not every killer needs to be equal at loops and proxy camping, as lots of killers like Hag, Trapper, etc. are made for territorial-type gameplay. Are you guaranteed to be miserable after going up against a Trapper/Hag who proxy camps? No, because the game was designed so that their powers could be countered if smart, and in the same way, their add-ons were designed to counter the counters to their powers (Rusty Shackles/Bloody Coil) Is there a counter to Bubba's power? No. If a Bubba camps your teammate on hook, are you going to go save them? No. Is that player going to have an enjoyable time/not be forced to lose a pip? No. I don't see how this isn't considered over-powered....

  • I get everyone's points, about his identity, about old Leatherface being a bit weak, etc., but I've been in (and can put survivors in if wanted) situations where you're just unhooked and a Leatherface comes straight back and downs you AND your teammate easily, especially if you having camping Leatherfaces. I try play a fair game by properly leaving hooked survivors to be saved and even healed if they're good enough, but a 4K is almost every game, and I'm not the best player when it comes to killer. I just wanted to see what other people thought of his place in the current meta as I felt he's a bit too over powered right now. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that even me playing a fair game can get a 4K, but usually when I go up against Leatherfaces, they tend to proxy camp A LOT, despite his power already being very strong, making any game against Leatherface quite miserable....🤷🏻‍♂️
