Visual TR does 0 for people without disabilities. Sure the 1st implementation was too "forgiving" giving huge advantage against onryo. That's no longer the case. This is true accessibility feature.

Survivor HUD was never meant to be accessibility feature. It's purely gap-closing feature to allow soloQ to be less miserable compared to SWF. There's nothing more to it. Any competent SWF get exactly 0 benefit from HUD, because same and more information is already shared between them as is.

And FoV techs are mindgames. Especially when Oni runs at you with your ability and you just hide behind the barrel. If Oni sees you or expects you to do this, then you as a survivor just die. If you use shadowborn, you will see said survivor hiding behind the barrel - completely negating any option (AKA mindgame in this case) survivor could have done. Exactly the same thing would have been the case if stretched res returned to the game for survivors - it would be again possible to track killers above walls - negating anything they could do to get the hit.

But it's not QoL. It's removal of mindgames. That's the problem. If FoV could be adjusted without actually showing more information to killer, then I would call it accessibility too... That's NOT the case.

Interesting. I see many tryhard blights taking the perk - knowing the players to not suffer from headaches... I wonder why if it's so bad...

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3447154#Comment_3447154

FoV techs work against competitive players. If you can't pull it off, then that's your problem. The case I was talking about before with Oni (and same thing applies to blights) is prime example that happens way more often in high level play then in average-to-beginner level.

Also it's not niche. Against competent blight/oni and to lesser degree nurse/spirit hiding mid-chase (for a very very short time) is one of very few options you have. FOV is paramount there.

And your example with deaf people ignores the fact, that they get LESS benefit than healthy people - visual TR gives exactly 0 extra information. That's the biggest difference. Even if visual TR is nice, you will not get extra distance on killer or escape a hit because of it (well the 1st implementation was broken - but it was rightfully criticized and fixed).

And again. You calling the perk F-tier doesn't make it so. The perk is very good on high mobility killers. You can call it F-tier on said clown where it only helps against 360's or window techs or any other animation-lock-fov-techs there are. That's not much. But on mobility killers, it's quite often difference between hit and miss.

Heartbeat visualizer is 100% a HUGE advantage for survivors, that's not even debatable.

One does not ALWAYS cause the other.

You said, "There's a reason Killers feel the need to tunnel and camp." You did not say, "I need to tunnel after I'm down to 1 gen in 3 minutes."

Also, you shouldn't lose 3 gens in a minute. That's a you issue. Have you tried running some gen regression perks? I quite like PR, it's 25% of total gen progress, which can be crippling to Survivors.

I don't have Pain Res, haven't unlocked the Artist. And all the other regression perks are absolutely useless, Jolt is the only usable one but that only works with M1 killers.

  • @Pulsar said:

I feel like there's slightly more nuance than that.

I see plenty of Killers immediately tunnel off of first hook with zero gens done. Of course, some will excuse that by saying that the Survivors could be gen rushing.

One does not cause the other, I'm afraid. Not everything is the Survivors fault.

In most of your games, losing a couple of gens early on is completely fine. The Killer is the weakest at the beginning of the trial

One does cause the other though, if gens are flying by I HAVE to get someone out of the game as quickly as possible or I just lose. 2 gens within the first minute is still a huge issue. I get the mentality of "Only the last gen matters" but even still, I feel like I almost have to run Corrupt Intervention at this point.

Weskers in desperate needs of nerfs.

A licensed killer like him shouldn't be that strong.

Make him 110ms or remove 1 charge from his ability.

    That's everything,thank you.

Wesker is literally the most balanced Killer in the game. None of his addons are OP, none are useless, his ability has plenty of counterplay while also allowing the Wesker to use it in creative ways, he has minor built in slow that can easily be removed with no upside for him. He's what BHVR should aspire to bring every killer to. He's not OP like Blight, Nurse, Spirit. He doesn't have addons that are overpowered like Myers, Blight, Spirit. He's literally perfect, he's also fun to play against and play as.

I am making this thread to inform that Wraith as of the recent update to the Burn mechanic.

Wraith is currently over preforming weather it be to his add-ons, his base speed, or generally having no way to counter him as of the update. Since the update I've played against Wraith multiple games in a row, some days I'll get lucky but nearly all of my games are Wraith and there seems to be nothing you can really do against him. I believe that taking away the burn mechanic puts survivors in a spot where they can't perform well against him. No amount of distance keeps him from catching up too quickly while cloaked. Survivors need a way to counter him and as of right now there is no way of doing that.

He went from being C tier to being B or low A tier tbh. He's definitely strong in SoloQ but SWF will still be able to beat him. Granted I don't like playing Hit and Run Wraith I always chase, and I have actually been doing very well on him, often times winning before they get 4 or even sometimes 3 gens done. Though against SWF I still lose with 3-4 hooks even easier than on most killers. He's definitely doing well but I don't think he really needs a nerf, he's still nowhere near as strong as Blight, Spirit, Plague, or Nurse. Though he might be #5 on that list. There are also little tricks you can do to waste the Wraith's time and greatly extend chases, I encountered one guy who made it so I just can't chase him at all, spam windows when the Wraith is cloaked, this forces the Wraith to either wait it out of Uncloak, at which point you just run off through the window negating the movespeed bonus from Uncloak and extending chase. Pallets are just as effective as ever, Just don't predrop them, wait for him to uncloak, if he uncloaks at the pallet instantly drop it, again forcing him to waste the movespeed and extending chase. The way to counter Wraith is to make him waste as much time as possible in chase, he's prone to being Gen rushed as while he can put pressure on quickly, if you make it so he can't close chases quickly he will struggle a lot more than other killers.

Burn imo was just a bad mechanic that gave 0 counterplay to the killer, it's good that it's gone.

It's 15s not 20. And still - I say that's good. Finally we are more in chase meta instead of gen-kick meta. You know something is terribly wrong when it's worth it for killer to make a pause mid-chase and kick that gen, only to continue the chase after - as if #1 priority for killer was kicking gens instead of chasing.

This version also fixed one common problem in game - if you had just 2 survivors and there wasn't a gen at 50+%, then there was no point in trying to do the gens any more (AKA best thing to do was hiding), because any progress on gens could be easily deleted (no need to even have 3gen) - creating very long very boring games.

This is no longer the case now, because if 1 survivor is somehow against the odds able to keep killer in chase, you can fix even 2 full gens - eliminating most boring games.

Yeah but now gens fly by at the speed of light because all the gen regression perks are absolutely awful. Like I mentioned in the first post the only viable one is Jolt and that only works because it works passively off M1s and M1 killers don't have many good perk choices. We're back at that point where 3-4 gens get done in 4-5 minutes because Killers can't do anything to slow them down. You can't pressure because it's simply not worth shoving people off gens and losing a hook.

  • @Göch said:

Gen kick speed was already buffed in 6.1.0 and on top got a 2.5% intant regression after kicking

Yeah and it's still not worth doing almost ever. To put in perspective how bad it is, if you kick a gen and let it regress for 1 entire minute it would take a single survivor a whopping 20 seconds to repair back to where it was when kicked. And the chances of having a gen left regressing for a whole minute is basically 1/100 since all you have to do is tap it for a split second to stop the regression, and then if the killer decides to kick again you've already basically won chase, or at the very least created so much distance in that 1.8 seconds that it will take the killer about 12 seconds to catch back up to you or around 15 if it's a 4.4 killer.

  • @mikewelk said:

Although that would be nice, you have to remember Skull Merchant is still in the game and that would not help with the three gen situations at all.

Ah, sadly you're right. As long as she exists gen kick perks and speed and everything can't be buffed because her design is flawed. Didn't even consider that...

  • @Xernoton said:

Can we please get some word from the devs? Is something like this in the works, do you even consider it and if not, why? I appreciate the visual TR as much as the next person but really it gets tedious looking through a Pringles can while playing killer.

Apart from that, there are players that can't play killer without using Shadowborn because of motion sickness and while this doesn't affect me personally I get disoriented quickly when not using it. Also, accessibility options should not be locked behind perks.

I have found that Shadowborn is basically required in all honesty. Killer FoV just needs to be increased by like 7 tbh

  • @HugTechLover said:

It’s almost like you described a sac ward…

Those don't work if they stack map offerings so it doesn't work on SWF who always burn 2+ anyway. And I want a reverse offering that REDUCES the chance of you being sent to the chosen map.

  • @H2H said:

Since survivors have basekit anti-tunnel and will soon have basekit anti-camp and basekit anti-slug, it seems only fair for killers to get a basekit counter to survivors engaging in unfun boring no counterplay gen rush gameplay.

Maybe the first time a gen reaches 50% it will automatically block for a while or instantly regress a large amount! Maybe survivors will have to take a chase to gain repair tokens they can spend to repair some percentage of a generator!

Best change in my eyes, is that Generators start off with a 30% repair speed penalty, reduced by 10% every minute until 3 minutes where it's no longer present. Because man does it feel awful being in your first chase for like a minute, and seeing 2 gens pop somehow. I had a gen pop on me one time because I could even use my TVs as Sadako, like #########? How is that okay?

I'm not entirely sure. You can hit a survivor besides the one you speared and it's a completely normal attack. So does that mean the attack itself is basic and the spear applies a "debuff" that causes M1s to inflict DW for a brief moment? Or is it an actual Sub-Basic attack like Nurse's or Pig's?

The Spear itself is the special attack, since Survivors can break away from it and still be hit with the Deep Wounds effect. The Spear itself gives the debuff, his attacks don't change at all.

  • @Technature said:

Her roaring as she charges I feel would give too little of a warning. I think it would be better to reduce the time between the roar and her charge instead.

One of her addons makes Ambush feel really good to use, and it makes it nearly instant to cast and without it it's rough sometimes. Especially since you kinda have to run Fearmonger or they'll just Sprint Burst away if on a gen.

Counterpoint: I like Save the Best for Last stacks.

Also Counterpoint: Just un-crouch and M1 normally, her anti-loop is awful to begin with.

I mean... yeah the stacks point is actually fair. Can be a good thing sometimes.

M1 normally really makes me wince in pain as Pig on some maps.

I am survivor main that plays way more killer now, because on survivor you are basically required to go 4man, or to have 20-30% escape rate. While on killer it's way above 60% (or 3 out of 5 counting actual kills). So it's that easy. I will continue to play killer so long as this is true - because survivor is only viable at 4-man.

What do you consider a win on Killer though? In my eyes a win on Killer is 3+ kills.

  • Idk in my experience Survivor is way easier than Killer. All you have to do is memorize the same few OP loops that exist on every map, or on maps like Midwich just hold W and throw a pallet down every once in a while. I win way more on Survivor than on Killer. I'm terrible at chase as Survivor but that doesn't matter, all I have to do is sit on a gen for 90 seconds then move on to the next one while the killer wastes 5 minutes trying to catch 1 person abusing OP loops.

"Healing is too OP, nerf it now BHVR"

*they nerf it and nobody wastes time healing*

"Why are gens going faster now?!?!"

That has literally nothing to do with 2 gens popping within the first minute of the game but okay.

But most killer games are chill (at least to me), while as survivor you will loose good chunk of your games even if you play picture-perfect (provided you don't have good 3 teammates at ready). Now considering you also loose some when it is your fault, survivor is just too hard and I prefer chill killer experience...

Most of the streamers who play DBD would not call the killer experience chill. Those who do play Nurse or Blight with very strong addons and yea those two killers do have chill games.

But you won't be seeing Doctor, Pig or Trapper ever get picked over Nurse or Blight in a Tournament. And that really is the problem in that It's a completely different game when you are playing one of the two killers that has a complete kit and when you play anything else.

Depending on how far down the list you are playing it can be completely miserable.

I actually have had the reverse effect. I play mostly killer, split about 80-20 but I did get to iri 4 as Survivor and this is also my first month of playing the game. Winning as Survivor seems to happen a lot for me. Maybe it's because I just hug gens all game and never really do much else. Of course I'll heal someone if I can or unhook when the killer is chasing someone else, but for the most part I just do gens and totems because even though I play a ton of killer so I should know how to loop through being looped constantly I just suck ass at chase as Survivor. But I end up escaping a lot because you have 1-2 good players who can manage to get the killer onto them and you sort of just auto win as long as you do gens. This is also my experience as killer, and I've learned when there's a good Survivor to just ignore them and go for other people because if there's someone who's super good at chase you will just lose if you go for them.

Killer games on the other hand are constantly a struggle. Sometimes I'll get a game where I can actually just chill and have fun, but often I'm bitching and moaning about how it's been 1 minute and I just barely got my first hook and now 2 gens are done, or getting extremely annoyed at players just running in the same circles over and over and over again. Going to shack over and over, using the vault windows in Haddonfield and Garden of Joy over and over. Funnily one of the few maps I actually seem to win quite a bit as killer and where I do have the most fun is Ormond, even though people say that map is survivor sided. Then on a map like Silent Hill where people say is killer sided I struggle to even get a kill even if I'm sweating and going super try hard and it's always a struggle for me.

  • @calem said:

The eruption nerf is going to be the nail in the coffin for M1 killers in terms of gen regression perks. There is nothing left. Not gonna feel good to see 3 survivors on different gens with the new aura reading and know you cannot do anything to stop them.

And somehow BHVR is still making balance changes that is furthering the gap between low and top tier killers.

I am entirely ready for a Deadlock/Pain Resonance/DMS/Agitation meta where m1 killers just face camp every game.

Playing characters like Sadako and Trapper is super painful. For 2 reasons, 1: it's way too easy to counter their powers if you're even somewhat observant. 2: with how strong movespeed perks like Lithe and Sprint Burst are, chasing people just takes forever, and you're often forced into a hit and run tactic or forced to hard tunnel 1-2 people and just ignore the others because it's so hard to catch people.

  • @Hawk81584 said:

reality is.....its the killers job to take you off the gens. not the survivors job not to do gens

I do get that, but when I find someone in the first 20 seconds of the game, hook them within the first minute and 2 gens are already done there's not really a chance for me to go and shove people off gens.
