  • NO! You're saying that I'll have to play differently, meaning I can't just run in a circle vaulting and dropping pallets, and actually have use my brain to learn how to go against the new killer?!?! That's it, I'm tired of this game favoring killers all the time. Meanwhile, all survivors have are Head On, Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Boon: Totem of Healing, and MAYBE Borrowed Time (shoutouts to everyone who actually uses Borrowed Time and is a team player). I'm going to Fortnite, I've had enough of this bullshit! [this person would then get yelled at by their mother for swearing and will tell them to apologize]

Man, I am a great actor. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I did a great job there acting out the role of a whining baby. Oh wait, the script says my role is a survivor, not a baby. Well, who cares. There's practically no difference between the two sometimes; especially when they throw a hissy fit.

I want to clarify, I'm not insulting ALL survivors. Just the ones going, "ArTiSt Is bRoKeN, mE AnGY, FiX noW!"

And to the survivors who fit that description, she's not busted or whatever, she's just new. Yes, she's strong, but not overpowered. learn the difference. If you can learn anything at all.

The moral of the story is:

You shoulda just played better lol

  • That would be hilarious! You'll be playing survivor, walking around, doing gens, then suddenly you'll hear a "Hee-Hoo" in the distance.

The perk says: "For each Hex Totem active at the same time, Hex: Pentimento gains an additional effect."

Does this mean if I have Ruin, Devour Hope, and Haunted Grounds, that this perk will automatically start the game with 4 tokens since I have 4 hex totems? Or is the text only referring to relit hex totems?

I feel like the former would be too powerful of an effect, but at the same time that potentially vague description is making me wonder.

I feel like it would not grant tokens for having other Hex perks active, since the whole "rekindling" process is so unique. But, I would think that, if you run other Hex perks and they get destroyed, you can use them to sort-of bait out Pentimento, since it only says "destroyed totems." It ain't being specific on whether they can be a previous Hex or not.

  • The crows have a limited distance of which they can do damage, about 7.5 meters. You can actually see this range when you're placing them. It's depicted by a bright purple outline. This outline is not only the distance it can travel and injure, but actually the hitbox of the entire time the crows can injure when launched.

As for her add-ons, the way I see them is, "they're incredible, when used in the proper scenarios." There are add-ons that work for, what I like to call, a Close-Quarters-Trapper playstyle, allowing the crows to still still for longer and notify you of survivors near said crows, allowing for the closing off of loops and getaways for later. I can see a combo of Severed Tongue and Iridescent Feather (or maybe Garden of Rot) for a possible Close-Quarters-Launching build. Severed Hands lets you only need to hit one survivor with a swarm and they get all their buddies that are next to them. Pair that up with one of the FIVE add-ons that inflict a status effect, and you have a chance at spreading Exhausted, Oblivious, Hindered (1.5 seconds), Hemorrhage and Mangled (which I know are made null because of Boon: Circle of Healing, but still), or Blindness like wildfire.

So many possibly powerful combos, but all of said combos work in their own situations and playstyles. Which is perfect and what I feel add-ons SHOULD BE. A few that fall into a playstyle, but every playstyle being more or less unique from one another.

And this is also why I'm glad the devs said in their q&a they are working on ways to punish camping (not parroting hooks) and tunneling. And changing moris again because they don't like how unfair and toxic killers have been playing with this.

Wait they did?! When?! How the hell did I miss this?!

  • I have not played any of it yet. Not Artist, not Jonah, not the map. But, I'm loving what I'm seeing (not regarding Jonah though). The surreal, ontological vibes from both the killer and the new map. I feel like this setting is something we've been needing in the game.

  • Thx, this code actually had me a tad bit stumped.

    "I wonder what will happen"

Joking aside, I typically try to avoid the whole "survivor-sided this, killer-sided that" since it's almost nothing but big babies whining that they were the first to die or they didn't get a 4k. However, you make some pretty valid points. Though I don't ever come across DDOS attacks or hackers (one of the few BIG benefits of consoles, those things are as rare as unicorns) and I typically don't come across people using Dead Hard. I do however know very well from experience that: the SBMM is ass, Circle of Healing makes any pressure from injuring worth next to nothing, and all of the killers I enjoy playing are complete garbage (exceptions being Oni and [sometimes] Deathslinger).

Now to anyone reading this, I am not advocating that killers should ALWAYS get 4k's. No, that's boring and frustrating, and BHVR knows this (one of the few good things they're trying to do). The target average number of kills killers are intended to get, as said by BHVR (somewhere, I don't remember where), is 2 kills per game. 4k's being essentially reserved for players who REALLY know their killer(s). Or, at least, in theory. And I think that targeted average is good.

However, as seen from discussions made by other killer mains, I am part of the minority of killers. Every killer discussion on here seems to almost always be one of two things: "survivors have it easy" or "tunneling and camping is the only way to win as killer". And this is upsetting. However, as a killer main myself, I see where they're coming from.

Minor add-on here, this is why we need a Competitive Playlist and a Casual Playlist. Because, it feels like some people are approaching the 'killer vs survivor' debate are either people who play casually, just wanting to play and have fun, or people who play competitively, wanting to win. DbD has now division for these players, and so it seems they appear to repeatedly cross paths and butt heads. I feel this is obvious, but it seems I was wrong. Thank you for coming to my Dead Talk (Ted Talk).

  • Yeah, this is just relatable. Now, I play killer WAY more than survivor, mainly because I play by myself a lot and survivor is pretty boring when I'm alone, but even I barely complain. The only times I complain is when survivors heal super fast (which, with the introduction of boon totems, I feel like I'm a slight bit justified in this complaint nowadays) and gen rushing. And even then, these are things that I know that I complain about because...well, I'm bad. Now, there may be some unfairness for killers regarding these two, but I feel these complaints are mostly my fault.

Now the one thing that really grinds my gears as a killer main is when survivors think they're hot stuff and t-bag, flashlight spam, etc. This stuff sends me over the edge because I know the main reason they do it is because I'm bad and they know it. Everything else is fine, but these things. These actions that serve literally no other purpose than to annoy you. They just, well, normally I have a sort of moral code, since I play the game more to have fun than to actually win. No camping or tunneling. The people that do this annoying ######### make me want to throw that code out the window into a dumpster. They know I'm bad, and they still do this #########. They have nothing to prove, nothing to gain, there is nothing. That's why it ticks me off. IT SERVES NO PURPOSE. FIX A GEN, SAVE A SURVIVOR, OPEN A CHEST! THAT HAS A PURPOSE!

Phew...sorry about that. Got a little carried away.

  • You're in the right in my opinion. I main killer and, try my best, to not tunnel or camp. But, in my eyes, there is an exception to camping. Knowing that someone is there.

If you know someone is near the hook, and you're searching for them, then to me, it's technically not camping since your goal there isn't (necessarily) to ensure that the hooked survivor doesn't get saved. You're there because you're looking for someone that just so happens to be near the hook. A bit scummy, but you can hopefully understand what I mean.

As someone playing to have fun more than just winning, I generally frown upon camping and tunneling. The only times I can find it acceptable (even then barely) is if the kit of the killer you're playing is fitted somewhat for that. Example being Deathslinger...my main...hmmm. Maybe I've been playing him wrong all this time.

  • Going off one off the top of my head. Brutal Strength. It is a perk that I personally think is pretty good, but suffers from other perks that, though they don't do the same thing, they are better altogether. But, I think I've thought of a fun way to buff it. It's not perfect of course, but it could lead to something viable.

Give a token modifier. Whenever you break a pallet, breakable wall, or generator, you gain a token, to a maximum of 10. You start with one token. Depending on how many tokens you have, you deal with these very "differently"

2 Tokens: You break pallets, breakable walls, and generators 10/15/20% faster (this is unchanged from the original perk).

4 Tokens: You break pallets, breakable walls, and generators 15/20/25% faster.

6 Tokens: You break pallets, breakable walls, and generators 15/20/25% faster, and generators begin to regress somewhat faster.

8 Tokens: You break pallets, breakable walls, and generators 15/20/25% faster, and generators immediately begin to regress.

10 Tokens: You break pallets, breakable walls, and generators 25/30/35% faster, and generators immediately begin to regress. If you are a stunned by a pallet, you instantly break the pallet and you are stunned for a reduced duration. This action consumes 3 tokens.

Either that, or just give Brutal Strength the ability to break pallets that stun you, but you still suffer from the stun duration.

  • Very quick and simple idea.

If you lunge and spin in place, your lunge doesn't end until you stop spinning, where you will then launch forward with little control of your direction. If you miss, you are faced with an extended stun duration, as if you are dizzy from all the spinning.

I thought of this as more or less a silly counter to survivors who dodge the killer by basically running into them when they miss a swing. Even if it doesn't counter anything, it's still a silly perk that I like.

What about killers that just play the game?

Not everyone cares about other players.

They are simply too rare of a breed. I have no knowledge of creatures retaining such purity and innocence.

Knocking off the accent, those people tend to be playing the game for the first time. Eventually, they either quit due to not liking it, or become one of the three jokingly mentioned.

I wish I could be like those people, if they exist. Continuing to play the game casually meanwhile not caring about other players.

  • I want to clarify, this is, more or less, a joking post, based in some semblance of how I actually feel about other killer main as one myself.

Point it, don't tunnel or camp unless it's to punish survivors who are being toxic, either to you or possibly even their own teammates. And if you say, "it's the only way to actually win" or whatever. There's a 50/50 chance that all you're doing is making the problem worse.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Or would it be Dead Talk?

  • You know what, I agree. There's a few things I could disagree with. Doctor could be a tier higher, Deathslinger a tier lower, but with no real reason as to why other than "it feels like it." Overall, I have little to complain about. This just feels pretty accurate.

But I don't know how many other people who see this will be as sane as me, so...

  • If this leads to Legion and (please Lord let it happen) Deathslinger getting buffed, then it's okay to me. Besides, their goal is for killer players to reach a sort of average of 2 kills a match when effectively using their base power and add-ons. Only seeming to buff or nerf perks based on the amount of usage and how related they are with killers consistently getting kills higher than average. So if that's how they buff and nerf them, then that seems alright to me.

There is never an official time and it can be delayed at any time. However, the current trend seems to be 3 weeks after being revealed on the PTB. If this trend is followed still, then it should release 30th November 2021, which is in-line with the date on the announcement trailer (November 2021)

    Thank you

  • I've been wondering, and this seems to be the perfect place to ask, how long is it between stuff being released on the PTB to being released in the full game? I really wanna start messing with these perks. I'm already getting some possible ideas for perk combos.

Two bird themed pictures- the artist (C. Mora) is crow related. We also know this person is female due to gendered words in the French translation, so its a female character involved with crows. I'm also inclined to think that C. Mora is the Killer because they were active in the 1970s, all our Survivors are from the current time (~2015-Present). Lastly, the fourth picture is heavily suspected to be the face of a woman, so it's most likely C. Mora/our Killer.

I can definitely see the face for the last image. In fact, I've been seeing it. But because of how blurry the image is right now, I didn't necessarily want to make the call when it sorta just looks like a stickfigure head.

I honestly am incredibly curious as to what their ability and perks are. I mean, she's an artist described as making political and surreal art and is heavily implied to have a relationship with crows.

I just really wanna see the little birds be useful for more than two or three perks.

  • Not necessarily for everyone to see, but at least for yourself. I get into a lot of matches where I wonder, "why was I put against/with these people?"

Deathslinger did not deserve that nerf. And this is coming from someone who rarely ever played him pre patch.

As someone who has played him significantly before and after patch, he needed it. The quickscoping was way to powerful, giving survivors little to no chance of dodging the spear if they weren't already strafing a bunch. Besides, he's now faster when ADS and practically all of the add-ons that reduced movement speed when ADS have been reworked too either have less of a reduction, or not reduce movement speed at all. The one thing I have a tad issue is the increase in his terror radius, it kind of mess' with the playstyle of being a sneaky hunter. But, eh, I don't mind it too much. It feels a bit uncalled for, but it doesn't change his gameplay and effectiveness too much, so I more or less don't see any real issues with the changes.

    Annoyances, yes. Overall issues, no.

  • If this is supposed to be a hint as to the new killer and/or their abilities/perks, then it probably to look more in-depth about what the images are.

This one is pretty obvious as seen from the fact that half of the people replying to this have mentioned it. It's a crow.

I don't have much to add to that, other than that the background looks like a crow's eye. (Master of Crows?)

The Legion fan not liking the ideas of a buff for Legion.

  • Deathslinger

    Iridescent - Marksman's Eye

"Your keen marksman eye is at full effect. You more easily see what is down range of your sights." - (simple stuff first). You see further, anything interactable (lockers, chests, etc.) is highlighted, scratch marks are much brighter. (now the complicated stuff). Survivors who are injured, or were injured ~10 seconds ago, are instantly highlighted when centered in your field of view (the more they're centered, the brighter the highlight). If survivors who aren't injured remain close to the center of your field of view are faintly highlighted (meaning they're given a dark yet recognizable outline of their character model) after ~10 seconds. If the survivor is moving, the highlight applies after ~7.5 seconds.

"Your prey seem to somehow be aware of your skills." - Survivors receive a unique sound cue. (I'll call it the "marksman cue"). The "marksman cue" begins to play much faster than Deathslingers ordinary sound cue. The "marksman cue" applies if the survivor(s) are exactly, or close to being centered (the more they're centered, the louder and faster it plays).

  • Survivor Perk

    Distraction

"Your repeated experiencing of trials has lead to making certain discoveries as to killers tactics, as well as a noisy way to exploit them."

To put it shortly, it's similar to Leon's flashbang as to how it works, except for the fact that it's a noise maker. This, like the flashbang, is collected from lockers, but can be thrown a small distance. Once thrown, it has a timer of ~3 seconds until it goes off, triggering a notification for the killer. But, something to note is that the noise maker makes, well, noise. Something ranging from a grinding to a screeching noise. Meaning that if anyone, including the killer, is close enough (~20?), they can hear the noise. The means that, if a killer is close enough, (and also uses common sense) they can discern that the notification is nothing but a distraction.

Can't completely think of a lot of scenarios this would be good for, but it's be a fun one to mess with, since it would basically punish killers for being too curious, meanwhile also somewhat punishing survivors who are a tad bit cocky and mess it up.
