Oh.. that's when I started playing, about mid February. The intro video at the time was the deathslinger intro. I'm assuming that's when the deathslinger came out.
Not sure what the game did back than cuz I was a noob and clueless about the game.
But at some point I realize I was bummed out when I found out I couldn't keep the add ons.
Didn't realize I missed the cut off time and that u CAN keep the add ons had I played earlier.
It's unfortunate too becuz I bought the game on a Halloween sale few years ago, just happen to finally try it February of this year.
I'm gonna be honest, I wouldn't recommend dbd before 2018 to anyone, the game became playable around early 2018, you didn't miss out on too much, gameplay wise, maybe you would've wanted the experience.

Well people seem to not understand my initial point. The point of the post was that no matter how strong the loadout the opposition brought into the match, you can always win by simply being better at the game than them, despite the fact that there could be a balance issue, it can be overcome with skill. I never said that complaints about gameplay being unenjoyable are irrelevant, the whole point of video games is having fun after all, the whole topic was supposed to be balance.

"Up until a few months ago, whenever you escaped with an item with addons, both the addons and the item were added to your inventory, then they changed it"
When was this? I been playing since the pandemic started, I never got to keep any add ons after I escaped. I only kept the item itself, but never the add on.
What do u mean few months ago?
I honestly wasn't sure when they made this change, ive been playing this game for way too long to remember, but after some digging I found out that survivors no longer keep the addons as well since escaping with an item that had addons attached to it since patch 3.6.0, which has been released around mid february 2020.

The difference is really only minor. (Grips are the first Add Ons Tofu talks about)
Well, looks like I found out what the accuracy addons do, also as tofu says, the blind hitbox is so big that im pretty sure if he was actually trying to blind a killer even the very innacurate purple flashlight would still always be blinding despite all the moving.

I would edit my last comment but effort. Now to address what you just said. You realize the forced ranked system literally kills the casual player base right? it doesn't just "barely mean anything" I suppose you're the type of person who sweats it every game and ends up ruining the casual experience for others then having the audacity to call them bad.
If I am sweating, then I am looking for a challenge, which is hard to find in pubs anyways. Also in red ranks there's no casual players, sure, they might not be good at the game, but if you play enough to be red ranks, can you be considered a casual?

I don't understand the whole losing add-ons because the other does. Sure it's consistent with killers but killers also have less add-ons to sort through. it would be fine if you could pick your add-ons but it's super rng based in the bloodwebs.
exactly my point.

This might sound weird but the accuracy add-ons legitimately do help me with blinds, particularly on purple ones. The bulbs can go but the accuracy ones should stay
Unless i'm mistaken, it might be all placebo, I kyf-tested the accuracy addons and I couldn't find a single differenence in how the flashlight acts with or without the accuracy addons in different situations, maybe I missed something, they seem to do 0 difference to me.

Probably to bring it in line with Killer Add Ons, despite Killers having less stuff in the Bloodweb (1/3 of the Survivor Bloodweb), gaining more BPs in general (even tho it got better on Survivor side) and having easier access to bonus-BPs (BBQ-Stacks are way easier to get than WGLF-Stacks, if you dont want to throw the game).
But also, you apparently are supposed to run out of Add Ons at some point. Which is kinda odd, since I never run out of Bag Add Ons on my Trapper, if I get like 3-5 in each Bloodweb, as an example. (Basically, as Killer you cannot run out of Add Ons, except when you are using the best stuff every game)
I mean, it would be ok, if the Devs keep it that way, but then at least they should remove all the Junk from the Survivors Bloodweb. E.g. you dont need anything for Flashlights other than Batteries or Low-Amp Filaments. The rest can easily be trashed, nobody will miss it, since that stuff is (almost) useless.
But eh, it is what it is. The change was not really thought-through, but whatever.
and lets not mention the mess that are the over all bloodpoint offerings and flashlight "accuracy" addons.

ermm have you played this game at all since his rework?
And man how unbalanced would this game be if you cant get downed at all by certain killers
I did, and to me, the chainsaw still seems useless in chases unless the survivor is deadzoned, or at short pallet loops, maybe I just haven't versed any good bubbas since his rework.

@BioX said:
so if you die by getting camped to death by a LF...they are just the better player? you just need to get good?
Dear lord this thread is unintelligent.
You can't really get downed by a bubba out of all the killers if you play well, he's mostly just an m1 killer with an instadown that can only be used if you severly mess up.

Nonetheless even such levels reveal how weak are many killers and builds are, unless you have a few thousands of hours more experience than your opponent(s) and you both are sweating
Yeah, actual competitive tourneys are the only place where killer and perks used actually matter, the point of the post was that you can win all public matches by simply being the better player, no matter the strength of what you are using.

Who the hell cares about pips? Your average casual player wants to enjoy the game and have a fair chance at escaping/sacrificing, so of course they’ll complain about stuff that feels unfun and unfair and lets someone who is not that good win much more easily. You don’t need to play on some comp squad to earn the right to complain about stuff that makes casual matches unbalanced.
You always have a fair chance at escaping/sacrificing though. If you just play killer well enough you will get sacrifices obviously, and if you are playing survivor with bad teammates you usually have a very good chance to find hatch.

I mean what would you prefer to use for perks? cause honestly my 4th perk slot is typically just whatever i want. I don't need certain perks to be decent i usually just run bp farming builds on killer. I don't see it as a waste of a perk space because there isn't any other perk i really need.
I usually use 3 detection and 1 chase perk, slowdown perks bore me to death.

I mean it's funny though when there's 4 flashlights and they trying to blind you but can't. The end game chat is usually them spewing insults because i used lightborn. I feel like you underestimate the perk a bit too much.
Maybe I underestimate the perk, that's true, but I simply don't see flashlights having a real use unless the killer is bad, so I don't see the point in using a perk slot to count such a pointless item.

Too long and too elitist for me to care to read. You don’t need to be a pro player to give your input on how the game should be balanced.
Sure, you can have an opinion without being a pro player, but I find most players are quick to blame the game for their own shortcomings, that's what i'm trying to adress with this post. As for the length of the post, maybe I had a lot to say, but I summed it up the best I could.

SWF teams are fun cause you can always expect them to be overly altruistic. There is the occasional group out to ruin your day with flashlights but lightborn tends to irritate them more than they irritate me.
Flashlights are useless if you have ears and you get blinded at pallets, and flashlight saves are easily countered. And no one should mind survivor bming because it doesnt affect gameplay at all, you can simply not care and it won't affect you at all, flashlights are quite posibbly the worst items a survivor can give.
-
I agree, most players think the game is survivor sided when they aren't versing complete potatoes for once and start blaming game balance because they can't play well enough to deal with any player that isn't completely bad.

One thing bloodlust makes obvious is when a map is either busted or the skill difference between the survivor and killer is too high. Bloodlust helps bring an eventual close to the chase which in my view is needed. I feel that Bloodlust is necessary it just needs to be reworked on how it operates and is obtained.
However yes I agree it would help identify issues with some killers although I feel that it's kind of blatant if you've played the game long enough.
Yeah, if the killer is getting bloodlust because the survivor is better than them, then it's a bad mechanic, we shouldn't reward players for playing poorly.
-
The only killers who get bloodlust in chase are bad anyways, it doesnt affect anyone who isnt a complete potato at the game.

I'm fine with game being unbalanced in one way or the other, since the game is assymetric.
I'm not fine when my opponent can get crushing advantage for nothing or use things I can't possibly defeat unless they let me win on purpose or when 90% of available characters/perks are utterly useless compared to the other 10% in high levels (red ranks, 1k+ hrs players games)
red ranks are not even close to being high level of play, tourneys and scrims between comp teams are high levels of play, not the average pub, also 1k+ hrs players are usually average at most.

@Eleghost said:
You see you're saying it's a public match game but the issue is it's not. It's forced ranked each game whether its survivor or killer. There is no "casual" mode. It is all ranked play.
having a colored circle with a number inside it barely means anything, it doesnt make the only gamemodes this game has competitive, nor does it make the matches hard whatsoever, the matches and players are still casual, even if theres a rank that mostly serves visual purposes.

Uhh, ngl I don't think getting beaten by a Ruin, Undying, Corrupt, Thrill spirit with an ebony shows that the other player was better. Just saying.
True, but you can stay alive for long enough to get a safe pip/+1 at least, even if you dont have a strong team.
