Speaking for myself, my survivor ability initially declined after the dead hard nerf however I feel like I’ve quickly adapted. My timing and looping has gotten tighter and more precise, and I play a bit safer as well. I’ve also discovered the value in other exhaustion perks, like I def slept on overcome, which has also altered the way I play survivor, and improves my pathing. I don’t know if this is the same for other survivor players though.
-
Eh, I’ve always found the toxicity of this community overstated, I’ve only ever experienced truly horrible stuff maybe twice( things like misogyny, racism, homophobia). This kind of behaviour sounds rampant in other gaming communities, my friend plays Valorant and it often sounds like a nightmare. I will say DBD might have the whiniest community though.
-
I don’t know, I always played with kindred, which for the most part allowed me to figure out what was going on. So for me the hud changes just allow me to take kindred out of my build and not suffer. The hud changes feel more like playing with a 5th perk as opposed to stripping away the “mystery”.
-
I have 1750 hours I believe. This is by far my most played game, I don’t even really play any other video games aside from the occasional game on the switch, so my next closest game would be like Animal Crossing at 150 hours. When I was a lil kid I played the ######### out of Goldeneye and WWF: No Mercy but there was no way to track hours back then.
-
one of my favourite things in life is waiting for matches in a video game lobby for hours on end. So yeah I agree, let’s balance the game around 4 man SWFs with thousands of hours
-
i think it’s worth considering that there may be significant variability amongst that top 5% MMR. Like if you look at the top 5% income in the United States vs top 0.1% there is a tremendous difference. So top 5% doesn’t exclusively mean everyone is a 4 man Seal Team SWFs. And against really good killers it becomes more about teamwork and less you can do as an individual survivor, and killers like Sadako, Dredge, even Freddy can really breakdown the teamwork or macro strategy of the game.
-
In regards to Nurse, remember games with DCs are not included. So a lot of games where Nurse is destroying a team and on a path to 4K are discarded because someone DC’d, and a game where Nurse is underperforming are more likely to be counted because no one quit.
-
I feel like Shelter Woods would be better if it was the size and layout of Wreckers Yard, and you could change the tree to be like a unique shack.
-
Dead Hard is still my favourite exhaustion perk, I’m getting a lot of value out of it pretty much every game.
-
Personally I actually like the new dead hard. I’ve pretty much gotten it to work at least twice every game. My escape rate might be down a little bit and I hate omega blink Nurse matches, but I’m still having lots of fun games.
-
I think he’s cool, his anti loop is strong but not nearly as oppressive or annoying as Artist. Nightfall feels different and exciting, and the teleport mechanic is great. Plus any killer with good mobility is less likely to camp or tunnel.
-
I think it’s because the opposing sides are so fundamentally different that you can find a whole bunch of things to blame and be frustrated with. This game isn’t like a fps where you can be like “oh I guess that person has better aim and reflexes than me.” Instead you can blame loops, maps, perks, killers, tactics, game design etc while totally negating your own mistakes and bad plays.
-
Just rename this place to forum.whineaboutdeadhard.com
-
His old reveal mechanic was ridiculous to me. His power should be about sneaking up on survivors unnoticed and using objects to prevent the reveal, not “oh your camera was 2mm too high so eat a turd”.
-
I’m still figuring it out as survivor, but yeah, my matches have been bloodbaths
-
Grade based matchmaking sucked when it came to fairness and balance. The only good thing about it was that it produced an emphasis on pipping. So killers would need to get more hooks and play more “fair” in order to pip or preserve their rank 1, and they were also able to effectively do this because of the variability of their opponents skill. Conversely as a survivor you could die but still feel ok about it if you pipped.
Thats not to say there wasn’t hard tunneling or camping under the old grade system, you just typically saw it less at “high ranks”
-
When it comes to the game I’m more casual because I do believe that any true balance is illusory, so I don’t really get too stressed about the results of a match.
However, I am competitive with myself in the sense that I want to continually improve at the game and on an individual level I want to be really good. So yeah, if I die but I get in some really good loops and plays I’m happy.
-
In the last year the only games I’ve played are DBD, Animal Crossing and Mario’s 3D world + Bowser’s Fury. So yeah, DBD and first party Nintendo games are all I really play. I’m not much of a gamer though, more of a film bro
-
Ya it is very annoying, luckily a lot of killers are bad too and will chase that person working on that gen and will kill their chance of getting a three gen.
-
I think it’s they just play an absurd amount. I’ve checked profiles and some people play like 60hrs a week. Which is absolutely insane to me.
-
Moonman 157 is a character from my favourite novel: Underworld by Don Delillo
-
Hmmm with Merciless Storm and buffed Dead Man's Switch, use a Midwich offering with the increased static blast add ons and you can get pretty nasty with Doc.
-
A perfectly executed EGC save/4 man escape as a solo survivor is my absolute favourite thing in this game.
-
If he’s good in chase - This will be a fun match.
If he sucks in chase - I’m not getting more than 10,000 blood points this match.
-
I played with Sluzzy for the fourth time recently, a Nemesis tried to tunnel him out(it’s a Nemesis what do you expect) the killer failed then DC’d.
-
i don’t know why but Sunday DBD is the absolute worst.

Funnier yet. We faced off yesterday on swamp. Rather that was the first time or not(no clue). Can't remember all the lead up. But I got a hook near the little 2 story shack building. A gen up top popped as I was hooking. I spent mybe 20 seconds looking for the person who popped it near the hook. Found them and hit them. In that time. I see scratches coming from another direction. And was looking. I mostly ended up camping them without intent. Gamer ended up being a 2 hook andy. Sadly.
I couldn’t believe the chance of that happening, it was too funny. It was ordained by the DBD gods, anyway GGs once again!

Do you have a clip or any other evidence
It was from December, I checked his Twitch and he doesn't have VODS going back that far, I did post about it right after it happened, because I was surprised by the coincidence of it, so it was not a case of mistaken identity.

I played against sluzzy. They gave up first hook. For no reason
I played against you when you were streaming. You were speed limiter Bubba, and you whined about the gens going too fast while you camped me and kept hitting me on hook.
-
Isn’t Kindred a generic perk, I would say it’s by far the best.
-
I think it’s because when you lose as killer it’s like you’ve lost to four people, but when you lose as survivor it’s like only losing to one opponent, so the psychology is different. Also as a survivor you lose 10x more(if solo) so losing becomes an expectation.
-
I’ve played with him 3 times. We escaped twice and he DC’d once( Hag - Mint Rag, Rusty Shackles, old emblem matchmaking, so I didn’t blame him)
-
can someone tell me how the hell can two opposing sides both play 100% perfectly?
-
I don't know how this forum can be full of post after post stating how "camping are tunneling are viable strategies", and "killers don't have to play by the survivor's rulebook", but then when things like this come around it's all "...BUT HE HAD TO CAMP AND TUNNEL, THIS DOESN"T COUNT!!!!". Seems OTZ point is quite apparent and well founded, the game isn't necessarily survivor sided, it's just that the meta is stale and not good. We need balancing changes but we also need to make certain things less powerful, and this includes some of the tools killers have.
-
No, the old rank based matchmaking was the dumbest thing ever. I had at most 200 hours when I first hit red ranks, I was so bad at the game, and yet under rank based matchmaking, that 200hr me would have been playing with current 1000+hr me who is way better at the game. We need to refine the current system and definitely not listen to a streamer whose only true talent is to whine incessantly for 3 1/2 hours.

Welp. Feel free to stop by and say hello. Coty_Baker/TTV. I play killer/do a lot of variety of killers.
I played against you yesterday. You camped me and repeatedly hit me me on hook, while moaning about gens going too fast against your meme build. Even though I don’t think I did one gen and I was just a solo slob trying my best not to go down.
as for bigger streamers, I’ve played against Hexy and Edgarallenbro and lost to both of them. Played with Coconuts and we got a 4 man escape.
-
My solo games since mmr generally are pretty good, but the last two days have been a lot of terrible, absolutely abysmal teammates. Makes me think BHVR played around with the matchmaking in the last couple of days or something.
-
I feel like on these forums there are more threads with killers asking for a dead hard nerf than all survivor complaints combined.
-
I pretty much only play solo, you do get some really bad matches but overall I really enjoy it. My escape rate is probably only around 40% but it would be higher if I played less altruistic and sloppy, and if rage babies would stop killing themselves on hook. I think that solo overlaps with killer in the way the opposing side can make matches feel unwinnable with perks, addons and and map offerings. Unless you get lucky with amazing teammates it can be brutal against certain killers if they stack everything in their favor, even mid tier killers. I think a lot of killer mains seem to forget about this.

The thing is even in party games there is a sense of balance. You don't load into maroi party and one player has a huge advantage and the other three just have to eat the loss because hey its a party game and is casual. I don't get the idea people have that just because its a casual game that mean is ok its a complete unbalanced mess and we people ask for balance I notice no one ask for esport level of balance but everyone wants to act like that's what was said.
The asymmetrical Mario Party games are horribly imbalanced and some games you know it’s an instant loss based on your role within that particular game. These forums are generally a den of awful ideas when it comes to the health and balance of this game, and it’s mostly just baseless whining and logical fallacies. However can be good at identifying unfair mechanics perks etc, like how whack DS was.
-
I wouldn't ever feel humiliated, this game is warped. I've gone against absolutely awful killers who go on to get 4ks thanks to NOED or even worse teammates. And then go against killers where I'm like "damn this killer is pretty damn good" but they don't get any kills thanks to hyper efficient survivors and bad map/map RNG . Just embrace the chaos I guess.

Since then we switched over to skill based matchmaking and boon totems were introduced which increases the probability that survivors are looking for totems, reducing the value of Devour Hope and Ruin.
Pretty sure thats going to have an effect on the overall kill rates, when new numbers are released.
Maybe, but were hatch escapes included in the data? If so, I think the hatch change will have a much more significant impact on kill rates.
-
I've yet to personally experience a game where they felt OP, they are good, especially on small maps but they still feel somewhat at odds with the true meta for survivors. I thought everyone agreed that the strongest way for survivors to play is to aggressively stick to gens, and that means even when you are injured (particularly when you get down to 1 or 2 gens). But now it seems like everyone is convinced that seeking out totems, blessing them and maybe even re-blessing them, and then running to one side of the map to heal up constantly is the strongest ######### ever introduced in this game. I'm sure they can be extremely powerful in the hands of an amazing swf, but that's the case with a lot of stuff in this game.
-
Clown - Weak killer, but so boring. I hate his power design so much.
Twins - encourage scummy play style, Lil Vic is really funny though.
I did hate Hag, but my last 5 Hag matches have been really fun/tense, so maybe I misjudged poor Hag.
Trapper is a bit boring as well but not bad every now and then, everyone else is cool.
-
I went against a Nemesis streamer tonight, he called me laggy, although I play with an ethernet and maintain a good ping, and I’ve never had anyone else complain about me being laggy before. He also got a totally whack hit on me, I also wonder if there is some weird desync issue going on with him.

A missed skillcheck rarely causes a snowball. There is too much more important information the killer has to parse (GENERALLY)
An unsafe unhook from a survivor clearly tanking his teamate? Sure, that'll snowball, but at that point it's more likely the survivor in question is doing it on purpose.
I didn't mean to imply it was common, but I have seen it before, and it's always when there is one gen left. I also don't think it needs to be something as dramatic as a safe unhook, if one survivor is hooked and a nearby survivor foolishly leaves some scratch marks this can easily lead to a 4k for the killer.
-
I thought it was interesting video, although I would like to seem him do the same test as a solo survivor... it would be an interesting look at the chasm between solo and swf, and if that affects his opinion on items, or at least how items get nerfed. I liked that he brought up the snowball of survivor mistakes, there is this circle jerk opinion on these forums that "killers can't make one mistake but survivors can make lots of mistakes and it doesn't mean anything". I've never thought this to be true and I've seen how even one missed skillcheck can tank a whole team. I just think a lot of killers aren't perceptive to these mistakes and their cascading effect.
-
i still go in for the save, because altruism is fun and who cares about mmr. People keep making the argument that you need high mmr so you get better teammates, but that also means you’re going to only get selfish teammates who care about their own survival/mmr and won’t come and save you.
-
Personally I think BHVR would have to be way more strategic in their killer buffs if they want them to compete at the highest level. You would have to make each killer be like Nurse or Blight where they are powerful but very difficult to master. You couldn’t just make Leatherface as simple to play as he is right now while being way more powerful or you would make the game incredibly killer sided at all other levels of gameplay. But you also run into the problem that if every killer is only very strong after you have mastered them, than the lower skilled killers are going to miserable time and like 9/10 killers would be unhappy with the game.
-
As a survivor I find I don’t really get much out of meme builds, like it can switch up the gameplay, which can be refreshing every now and then, but after a game or two I usually go back to something that compliments my play style. I like trying to make plays, have good chases and try to get two survivors out, my most common and favourite build is WoO, Kindred, Open Handed and an exhaustion perk, and I’ll trade out one of those perks for something else I like every couple of games or so. So ya, I don’t really like full meme or full meta.
