Because I don't view teabagging, face camping, tunneling, flickering flashlights, etc... as toxic behavior. I find these actions to be silly not offensive or "toxic."

TOXIC means Bad Attitude and Behavior in an online gaming context. so just because you see it as silly doesn't mean it isnt toxic

Declining in your own subjective perception of how it should be? As far as I'm concerned, DBD is still growing and still remains one of the most popular games on earth, on twitch and on steam. Still always in the top 20 on both platforms

Look at what i originally said, i stated the fact that the community is declining not DBD itself

And again... of those DAILY users you have no idea if some of them only play once or twice a week or 7 days a week so you have NO IDEA how many people play DBD in a given month. No one is denying that 25 million people do not play the game every day or every week or every month - then again NO GAME can say that everyone who has bought their game plays on a regular basis. I bought Phasmophobia and played it 2 hours total. I have the Sims 4 and have played that maybe 5 times. Do you play every game you have bought all the time? People play or don't play for a plethora of reasons - including but not limited to "toxicity."

I have played this game since January 2017 - and I do not think the "community" is any more or less toxic than it has always been. This is a competitive game of two sides working against one another - that in and of itself creates frustration and heated debate.

Do I think teabagging is toxic? No not really - silly more than anything. But ya see - I don't let the actions of others bother me - especially strangers in an online game.

yet again you ignore the first thing i say in the original argument, just because you as a person doesn't see Tbagging as toxic doesn't mean it isnt toxic, Tbagging is basically taunting, which in itself is disrespectful or "toxic" and Tbagging is just one thing in the "plethora" of other things like face camping among other various things that are disrespectful, i play a game to have fun, not to get disrespected.

Although i agree with you're second statement of the nature of the game "creates frustration and heated debates" however thats within certain bounds, how come i can play some games and have a actually good time with a nice killer/survivors and other times i get face-camped.

I dont see how you can so focused on one thing while ignoring the original statement, i put those numbers in there just to put them there i wasn't trying to prove the fact that its dying im trying to say the community is forcing DBD down a rabbit hole that just spirals and spirals

  • NOT SAYING THAT DBD IS A NOT FUN GAME its actually quite fun, but the COMMUNITY makes it NOT FUN, i dont have fun playing against a sweaty nurse and i dont have fun when a survivor Tbags. Im saying that its BECOMING MORE AND MORE UNFUN because of the COMMUNITY

Not really, that graph shows the game had more players from Setpember to November in 2020 but overall this month has more players than average.

Also take on account console users.

yes but as i said the more people that buy it the more people will both play AND drop it, the game is the most popular it has ever been and its only going to keep going up until it becomes stale but when you look at the graph it says 10 million have bought it and only 500,000 of them are returning players

  • @Akito said:

So you are playing for years?

So then I tell ya from veteran to veteran, dbd back in the days was way more toxic than now. That's why we had a codex. But the devs took care about their things and today we are all laughing at the rulebooks.

I tell you what really changed and idk who (finally) spoke it out but dbd isn't toxic. Dbd isn't competetive. The dbd community is entilted af.

Don't have to add anything to that.

You guys should learn what toxicity really means. And even I'm for all it, for some spicy talk, I can't even remember when the last person went offensive against me with homophobic, racist or other personal attacks. That's what toxicity ist. Going personal, insulting someone personally at a very high level where it's usually not legal in most countries.

Toxic isn't "Omg I dont like how you play/things work/things are designed it's so toxic" No my friend. That's called being entilted.

so you're saying Tbagging isnt toxic, also when i said DBD is toxic i meant its community

  • You literally ignored my first half, i didn't make this post to start an argument about how many people play i made this post to talk about how much of those people are toxic, as i said im new to these forums but im not new to DBD, ive seen the toxicity get more and more common with each update. you also ignored the fact that i said both numbers will go up as more and more people buy the game. On November 16, 2017, more than 3 million copies were sold. As of May 2019, the game sold more than 5 million copies. In August 2020, the game reached more than 25 million players across all platforms, and i said 10 million on just ps4 (https://gamstat.com/games/Dead_by_Daylight/) we cant see how many people play DBD but still that still equals out around 1 to 2% of people playing daily and AGAIN as more people buy it, more people will both play it and more people will stop playing it. Im saying the main reason why people dont play it is because of its community lest take the peak of concurrent DBD player to date which is 77k lets say they play for 5 hours a day (just as you said it not true it just makes it easier) thats 385k players at its PEAK, now idk about you but 385k players is a far cry form the 10 million confirmed total player count.

  • honestly i believe the most balance killer would be either deathslinger, hag, legion, ghost-face or blight I honestly can have games where its both interesting and insanely fun (albeit rare). For absolute balance i would say blight, because you can get kills without absolutely dominating the game

MMR had a test about a week ago and is going to take over ranks soon.

It’s not impossible you just have to accept you’re not going to win every match

yeah thats true but im not talking about winning im talking about people being toxic, iri head is toxic, Tbagging is toxic, etc. its getting harder and harder to stay committed to DBD when people just dont care about fun they care about wins

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241477/dbd-is-declining

There has always been a "war" of survivor and killer mains on the forums. Since you are new to the forums I am not sure how you could surmise that the community has "slowly declined into a sad and sorry state." Toxicity is a vague term to say the least; and very open to interpretation. Do people on these forums argue endlessly, use hyperbole, throw out vitriol, and ramble on and on about the same issues - yes they do - welcome to the internet. I have been gaming since 1996 and have been involved in MANY forums as a poster and moderator and if you think these forums are more "toxic" than most forums - you are sadly mistaken.

FYI according to steam charts DBD has seen two of it's highest peak player months within the last year. Peak players and average players are an indicator of a games health, but you have to remember that 55k players is at ONE time not the total number of people playing the game THAT day. People do not...generally...play DBD all day so you have to take that number and figure out how many PLAYERS are actually playing per day. Let's assume that everyone plays for 4 hours a day (not true (some more and some less) but makes this WAY easier) - that would be on average 214k players for the past 30 days...per day. DBD currently has 20% more concurrent and peak players than it did a year ago and nearly double what they had two years ago - and nearly triple what they had 3 years ago.

when i said DBD is declining i mean i see more campers tbaggers, flashlight clickers than i did when i first started playing, it seems as though every game nowadays has at least one of those toxic traits, and in return the people who are the victim become toxic themselves

FYI yes i did mention the analytics but even if you were to count 214k players as you previously stated there's still the fact that over 10 million people in just one console have played DBD and they didn't like then they left, lets assume that both those numbers were on steam, 214k players i just 2.14% of how many people bought it so that means that 97.86% people that bought it stop playing afterwards for some reason and yes how much people that play it is going up but the number of people that buy it is also going up basically saying that the as more people play it more people are also dropping it.

I think in-game voice chat will make the whole game swf. Something like a comm wheel on hook is more balanced. What I mean is while your on the hook, there are like 4 commands that say for example: "killer camping" 'Do generators" "Im fine on hook" "Hurry save me" obviously with a cooldown, and you can pick any of them for your teammates to see.

yeah if they dont implement in game vc i would want this to happen

  • @[Deleted User] said:

In the entirety of my playtime, I have never felt left out of anything, only because I was solo. You are exaggerating with your 90% there.

Try using kindred, it's like the best perk for solo queue.

you must be lucky, even killers say how much being in comms help the survivors, yes although kindred is really good for solo q right now but i shouldn't have to run kindred to get an enjoyable solo q experience, the 90% isnt an exaggeration i just played like 8 solo q matches and in all of them i died first hook because my teammates didn't even attempt to save me, solo q is like playing a 1v3v1 its just not enjoyable, i shouldn't have to play killer to get a fun experience when im playing by myself

That might be the problem you’re facing. DBD’s ranking system means literally nothing. You’re better off thinking of this as a casual game and putting rank to the side

This game is impossible to play it casually either you get a iri head huntress, tombstone myers, or a sweaty nurse/spirit when you play survivor if you dont sweat then either the killer is gonna be toxic or the other survivors are gonna be toxic also dont they go by skill level now instead of ranks? genuine question, i thought they switched it

I think the same thing happens in overwatch as it happens here

I played ranked in overwatch at a decent level and if I tried to play any of the non met heroes I would get constant messages telling me to switch and even people throwing the game because I took their hero.

What do you main? Not that it matters really I’m just curious

I main mostly survivor but I've been playing quite a bit of killer recently more so than survivor but i fail to see how that is more toxic to DBD, when its literally looked down upon if you play Nurse, Spirit etc. so in that aspect overwatch and DBD is the same. it seems as if no matter what i do im always going to get that toxicity even if i do switch to a different killer and unlike Overwatch you are force to play ranked matches, you cant really play it like a casual game else people would send you hate mail

  • @Phasmamain said:

Every online multiplayer game is toxic and DBD honestly isn’t that toxic compared to the other games I’ve played (Overwatch, Smite, CS GO)

Most of the toxicity in this game is more entitlement than anything.

By the way welcome to forums!

yeah i know but never before have i seen toxicity to people who dont even want to be in that situation, like you could play a killer exactly how you should (according to the survivors) or you could play survivor exactly how you should and you will still get that toxicity, like face camping/Tbagging etc. i feel like Overwatch and Smite if you play well enough you wont get told to ######### if you play slightly different than how they want you to. its honestly so irritating to play some survivor matches and i die on 1st hook because of face-camping, the state of the games community right now doesn't even make it fun, you will occasionally get some really fun matches with randoms and i just wonder why people cant just play like that all the time, i dont like going against a sweaty spirit but i think spirit could actually be one of the most fun killers to play against, people on DBD only care about winning and not having fun, and thats the most annoying part.

Off note- thanks although it seems like these forums are just for people complaining, i still have seen and talked with really nice people on these forums (that is until i say what i main)

When I'm on someone getting off hook, even if I am pretty sure they don't have Decisive or Borrowed Time, I will let them go in favor of uninjured, unhooked survivor. And in the endgame I will purposely leave hooked survivors because I will feel like a dick for camping them. Am I being too nice? Am I handicapping myself?

yes you are, to some extent. If you're playing for fun no matter what, you are going to handicap yourself, however there are somethings i dont understand about the camping with killers, its not fun for the survivor or the killer, when i play killer i try and play in a way where everyone has fun, not for me just winning, idk whenever i got a 4k by camping it just seemed hollow to me, I didn't really give myself a chance to have fun as a killer because i wanted to win so badly. Playing against toxic survivors is just as annoying as playing against a toxic killer and for that reason i try not to be a toxic survivor or killer, i play games for fun, i dont play them merely to win

Help me out, what did I do to bring on the DC tech?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZtrUp7dnBg

yeah honestly the only thing i can really see or would complain about as a survivor is the tunneling but they honestly brought it on themselves, they were just standing there not really doing anything and how someone was afk at the beginning but, i think the bigger question is why complain, as someone previously said its significantly harder to do 3 gens when there is 1 person out, and if there are two its honestly a guaranteed 3k , and you said you didn't depip, i dont understand why killers complain about dc, whenever i play killer, if i get a dc i think its funny. idk i guess i just dont get it

  • yes but i feel that most of the problems that come with solo q is uncoordination and i think that running kindred wouldn't solve the problem entirely because most SWF's would see you as asset instead of a survivor, meaning that they don't care whether you win or lose. yes survivors on comms are harder to play against, but thats only because they can coordinate way better than solo q survivors

  • @Mineguy said:

Yeah of course it's tunneling but...is it a point to complain? When you don't have ds but then you decide to confront the killer about tunneling isn't the own vault? When you hate tunneling then you should run ds for that case. Of course it's something else when you don't even have ds in the first chase.

thats like me complaining about getting trapped and the killer would say "just run better lol" or the equivalent of you getting hit then the killer saying "just run dead hard" both of them are honestly a run around

  • that would basically be like giving the solo q player a 5th perk, however they do need to bridge the gap, i suggest adding in game voice chat that would get rid of the problem without giving them an unfair advantage

  • Honestly the game is just a ######### map its bad for killers with the pallets and its bad for survivors with no windows/ not really able to loop if the killer breaks the pallet and it literally has the most annoying gen spawns however the game is more killer sided than survivor, merely because if you play doctor you can see the entire map with one shock blast while running the right perks, again not saying its killer sided just saying its a ######### map.

Ps. I play killer and survivor equally, so i'm not really bias

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2092119#Comment_2092119

and it's funny it's not even that bad. It looks worse than it is.

Basically, it occurs when the killer would hit you, and eat a stun at the same time, be it because of dedicated server lag or not.

Thing is the pallet stun part is bugged, so it looks on both screens like you just hit them through the pallet because you don't get stunned at all. Sometimes you just go "thunk" and hit the pallet and get pushed back instead of stunned, but again, you would be stunned.

It's annoying, slightly unfair and needs to be fixed absolutely- but it isn't making survivor "unplayable" like some people are complaining.

you say its just annoying however literally 75% of pallets are unsafe and you need to get the stun to even get a chance of not being hit but when there is no stun its basically a guaranteed hit and a single hit can change the entire course of the game, snowballing etc. i'm a killer main so i can see how broken it truly is, so you cant say i'm just a salty survivor main because it seems as though whenever you point out how truly unbalanced this game is in the killers favor, people will just write it off as a salty survivor who is just mad they lost a game, however in a truly balance game you would on average get 2k's per game not mainly 4k's

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2094547#Comment_2094547

Even in this case the Survivors can stop the three-gen from happening. They ignore the gens outside of the three-gen the Killer is hovering around and work in pairs to hit two of them at the same time. The Killer can't keep pressure on both gens at once because of how bad regression is, so without Ruin one of those two gens is going to finish and unless the Survivors mess up there is nothing the Killer can really do to stop it unless they are just that much more skilled than all of the Survivors.

Is this something that is likely to happen with four randoms? No, not really. But is it possible if those four randoms know what's-what? Yes. I've been one of those four randoms and was able to literally point out a three-gen to others and work together to break them and have had it happen to me as Killer when when I'm guarding that three-gen harder than a dragon does its horde. Though I also freely admit to not being all that skilled at this game, on either side.

A three-gen is always controlled by the Survivors, they just have to work together enough to keep the Killer from defending at least one of them long enough by going after at least two of them if not all three depending on a lot of factors, such as location of gens and who the Killer is and what add-ons and perks they have and so on. In all my hours of play and watching others play I have only ever seen a grand total of three sets of three-gens that were close enough together for any Killer to easily defend, and one of them was around a tree in the middle of even then you didn't have true line-of-sight on all three at once. Still, even then, if done right one of those deity level gens can still get finished if the Killer steps too far away to go for an "easy down" and misjudges things.

On the main topic. I think base gen regression is a joke. As a Killer I hardly ever bother with it unless I want the Brutality points because I'm not getting in M1s for what-ever reason. The fact that it takes two seconds to start a 0.25% per second regression is laughable. That it can be undone in only a fraction of a second is just insulting.

I like the idea that a Survivor has to spend at least a full uninterrupted second on the gen before it stops regressing. This means that they can't just "tap" the gen while in chase and if the Killer comes back around in that second they don't have the kick the gen again to get it doing down once more. But it's also half the time it takes to start regression so if the Killer takes the time to kick another gen the previous gen they kicked can be started back up with no problem and even gains 0.75% percent progression in those two seconds. That's not even accounting for travel time between the two gens for the Killer. I think it's the most balanced way they could do it without it being oppressive to Survivors.

I think your forgetting about the flat out instant regression you get when kicking a gen, which is around 10% so if a survivor were to just keep "tapping" the gen then you only need to kick it a few times to fully regress the gen, however i do agree that getting three gen'd i purely the survivors fault, however the killer can influence it, like how as a survivor, your not going to go for a gen that you cant necessarily finish without risking getting 4k'd

  • low-key Vommy Mommy could be kinda hot tho

  • honestly this sound like you only play killer and you don't want the survivors to ever win a game, you talk about how tapping a gen is OP however there are many perks such as ruin and POP, and honestly people tapping the gen is better for POP, it just sounds like a bad killer complaining about playing killer, i'm a killer main and i see how overwhelming the advantage is in the killers favor, just because you cant get a 4k each game doesn't mean its imbalanced
