every balancing decision made this year has been two steps back one step forward

for the record Behavior. I really hate all of the updates this year.

sure, when survivors learn to win without looping then you can tell killers to win without tunneling
what am I supposed to do when I'm being chased by the killer if not loop?

Behavior straight up hates solo q players. How else can you explain the fact that they have not touched the solo q experience since patch 6.5.0 (December 2022) which added the activity HUB for survivors. And no I'm not counting patch 8.5.0 because that really only added totem blessing and self healing to the HUB (negligible addition for solo q).

solo q gives swf level of information the problem is the teammates when you read the hud
Tell me you've never played solo q without actually telling me

I've been able to play Dredge after what felt like forever. Previously he felt really painful to play, especially on maps with bad or too few locker placements. Having pallet based perks on him just doesn't feel good and is somewhat counter productive to how good he is at snowballing, especially with Friends to the End.
I know a lot of people hate the pallet changes, and I do agree that in quite a few places its too much. Some areas do feel like dead zones, especially for inexperienced survivors. However, my counter would be more killer variety, at least from me. Dredge is an all time favorite, and I am glad to not feel terrible when playing him.
Well I seriously wish the rest of the community felt this way OP because I haven't seen any of these weaker killers in the past 2 weeks.

A trapper running Pain Res and DMS would not successfully tunnel out a survivor before a gen even completes. A lot of the lower tier killers would not be able to do this unless the survivors were just bad.
The specfic issue you have is a result of BHVR not putting a tigher balance on the power discrepancy between killers. We can see this with the fumble of the pallet density updates. Post update was a pain for killers like Trapper, because they have not ability to deal with pallets like a Blight. Now pallets are a joke for blight, but Trapper is fine.
We can't just keep balancing the game around the highest level of power when the solution should be nerfing the highest level of powers on both side, because it is quite possible for survivors to get gens done in 3 minutes. DBD should be a slower paced game than it currently is.idk, you can't just say: well this isn't the case for the killers that are absolute buns and call it a counter argument. Those killers need buffs period. And if they got those buffs to get them up to like C tier at least, then they too would crap all over any solo q squad in the scenario I outlined in my original response.

If they're gonna play alone wouldn't they just play killer (which is the solo gamemode). I agree with the sentiment but soloQ being bad isn't necessarily the reason they don't play it, I think the reason killer mains don't play soloQ as often is in the name.
Oh no you are definitely right, but I anecdotally believe that far far far more solo q players will occasionally run killer vs the inverse (killer mains occasionally running solo q)

Because these ideas are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. The killer's role is to kill survivors. Making it so that the killer gets punished by losing access to perks by doing their job is a poor way to balance the game.
The opposite would be disabling sprint burst after the survivor team gets a gen done. It would make the perk less annoying to deal with as killer, but it would be a terrible solution to it.
There's a big problem with the DBD community wanting to micro manage how killers play the game. Adding all these barriers to try to force killers to play 1 specfic way will only hurt the game in the long term, because people will not stay to play as a bot.
Fair, but try and see things from my perspective. You run a solo q match and run into a Blight (or honestly any killer) running pain res and DMS and they tunnel at 5 gens the second the match starts. This is literally un-winnable for solo q (unless the team is all 5k+ hour survivors); the match could be replayed 1000 times and I honestly don't think the solo survivors would win once.
-
Oh yea I agree 1000%. Time to take a long break from solo q.
I don't call out killer mains like this often, but one thing you'll never see from a majority of that side of the community is them running solo q. Why? Because they know how terrible it is. -
I can't even fathom the down votes on OP. This just seems so brain dead logical imo
-
I mean, I doubt behavior cares about posts like this sadly. But agreed, I play solo q almost exclusively and it's the worse it has been in years imo. I'm just going to take a break until the holiday season in December; hopefully things are better for solo q by then… but I seriously doubt it.

These changes, I feel, are fairly tone deaf in the goal of the change.
The changes are
Monitor and Abuse:
While in a chase, your terror radius is now increased by 5/10/15% (was 6/7/8 meters).
Otherwise, your terror radius is now decreased by 15/20/25% (was 6/7/8 meters). While on paper this is a side grade, it really is a nerf to most of the killers that actually use monitor and abuse.
Killers like pig, SM, and hag could use this perk to get a 16-meter TR., It only goes down to 20, which, although it isn't that big of a deal, it's still a pointless change. Now it is only really good on 32-meter TR killers, cuz killers with a 40-meter TR are better if running an undetectable perk, because with the new monitor their terror radius is still 30 Meters, which is still rather big, so fair pointless to run.
This change only reduces the number of killers this perk is actually fun on
agreed OP, does anyone know why they changed it like this to begin with? Seems way more complicated/difficult to understand exactly what the terror radius will be like this.

The gen rushing and bullying is so bad, there's no reason to even play killer
If they are unwilling to dissuade survivors from garbage tactics then they should put the last nail in the coffin.
Do you see how idiotic and childish you sound? You survivor mains are so used to being spoon fed wins that when you can't 4 out in 2 minutes will running the killer around for an additional 5 you just complain the game is dead and unplayable. Why not actually get some skill and stop complaining when killers play the optimal way. Always double standards with survivor mains.
Toxic response. No need for that kind of language; say something constructive next time buddy

Wouldn't an apple to apple comparison be something like looking at the fastest 4k time (which is almost assuredly faster than the fastest escape time.
Or compare escape streaks to kill streaks (again massively favors killers)
Agreed, comparing a team of SWF playing dozens of matches to get a really fast 5 gen escape record is not comparable to the killer win streaks. Both are problems for sure, but the latter should be compared against survivor 4 man escape streaks (hint: they aren't even close)

It's funny how people try to frame buffs to M1 killers as if they aren't buffs to all killers at the same time. The only killer who can flat out ignore pallets is nurse - that's it. So everyone but nurse got a buff with these tile downgrades.
A lot of loops that blocked LOS were changed so that they no longer do that… so nurse got a pretty sizable buff from this

Echo chamber - In this situation: Survivor mains that join a killer based forum post to cry in near unison with a slight delay causing it to echo in. Thus causing an echo chamber.
In all seriousness that survivor mains don't understand without killers you would have no matches or very few with the little amount of killers left. I really don't understand why survivor mains are like this.
I was just commenting on how all of this feedback is likely irrelevant since Behavior will not review and critically think about it… was not meant as an insult so it's interesting how that's the conclusion you jumped to.
-
I play on switch and there are some killers that are just unplayable on controller. Take Trickster for example, it is damn near impossible to hit two knives in a row while chasing a survivor running in a straight line.
-

-
It's like counting cards at a casino. Except instead of screwing over the big man you're just slighting everyone you're playing against. Frowned upon but not agains the rules :/
-
dang that sucks because I literally have the opposite experience. I play in NA on switch and the past 9 days have been the most fun killer and survivor games since the last switch update cycle with no cross play.
-
I feel like Behavior implemented this so that they can start selling Mori animations that buyers can reliably use without the iri add-on. Definitely don't agree with this decision, but that's probably why it was done.

I think the real issue with the flick mechanic is the discrepancy it creates between pc and console gameplay. Put simply, console players CANNOT flick with a controller so having a flick mechanic automatically makes them worse with that killer. I was so disappointed when I purchased Oni a few years ago only to learn that I would never be as mechanically good as someone on PC.

Spoken like an pc/stream deck fanboy, Nintendo Switch 2 is by far an excellent console.
Stop with the hate on Switch 2, It has already out preformed the stream deck and outsold it.
Switch 2 deserves an optimised version of DBD on it period.
I play on og switch, but nice try
-
my guys they can't even keep the DBD on switch up to date with the rest of the community. Why would you expect them to prioritize the switch 2 which I'm guessing makes up like 0.05% of DBD players.
Switch 2 is a bad console that was really only designed to play Nintendo licensed games. Like nintendo doesn't even want you to fully own your copy of switch 2 games, you think they're gonna make it easy for non-nintendo competitors to develop games on their early 2000s era technology ah console.
DBD for switch 2 will prbly release after GTA 6 and Elder Scrolls 6 lol -
idk not every horror adjacent concept belongs in dbd imo

When the update goes out, Switch players will be able to choose if they wish to remain with crossplay off or on, the setting will be available then, every person has the right to opt out of crossplay no matter what platform they are on.
massive W for the DBD switch community
-
I have had the opposite experience, but I am curious to see what others think. My games on switch (survivor and killer) have been sooo much more balanced and fun since cross play was "disabled" (not really disabled, switch is just stuck on an older version of DBD)

It's so rough. I rarely see more than 2 gens finished in my matches in a typical night of solo q.
IMO there's just certain perks and killer strategies that completely uncompetitive against 90% of solo q lobbies. Most of the time the match is over before it even begins because of what killer you're against, what perks they're using, and/or what play style they're using. -
The buffs to survivor definitely seem excessive, but I think the repair speed bonus that survivors get if someone dies before 6 hooks is a good change imo. It's meant to balance the game when it becomes a 3v1. I imagine that the game will still be very winnable for you if you kill a survivor very early on.
I do however think they should not give the bonus if the survivors have a certain amount of gens done already. Seems silly that they could be on the last gen when the killer finally kills someone and then they get 20% bonus??
Finally, now that they'e addressing the 3v1 killer sided imbalance they do need to address the 4v1 survivor sided imbalance which they should have more options for now since they don't have to worry about excessive tunneling & slugging compounded with/exacerbated by any would be buffs to gen regression perks. -

"yes comrade killer your social credit it too low now you will be sentenced to 50 matches of comp swf"
would be hilarious imo
-
Just remove the hit scan. It's training wheel nonsense that puts this killer's skill expression in the dirt, like is really too much to ask Kaneki players to actually have to aim their attacks. Literally every other killer has to aim, sure Springtrap has some fairly generous auto aim with his axe but it can still miss if the player is off with their throw.
-
We need a social credit system in the game. If you behave like a toxic a** then your social credit will tank.
Then they can make it so that you only match with people that have a similar social credit. Good players get other good players while the toxic sheets enjoy matches with one another >:D
- obviously not practical, but would be nice in a perfect world -

I still play on the og switch but I'm gonna upgrade to the switch 2 soon once I get a job because I can't take this anymore for the SW1 the "30" frames per second drives me crazy
that way you get what, 35 frames with the SW2 lol

There's like what… 10 people playing on switch 2. I play on the og switch :(

What about a delayed April fools chapter where they remove everything added after April 1st 2025?

What about when the killer (billy) loads in ~2 seconds before you with lethal pursuer and you spawn in with 0.5s to dodge a chainsaw hit.

Clown is fixed, he's been unplayable for years. You don't like the killer having access to speed to actually put up against you getting a flawless win with all 4 survivors escaping. Sorry, let's nerf clown back down, and make you face nonstop nurses, blights and ghouls.
I would genuinely prefer 5 nurse matches over a single clown match. At least I know a good nurse is a juicer instead of someone abusing a blatantly over done buff.
-
The last two killers feel way too tailored for beginners.
Take Springtrap, for example — I love almost everything about him... except for his axe (aka the training wheels).
Let’s break it down:
- Why is he faster than survivors while aiming the axe? No other ranged killer gets that.
- Why is the hitbox so generous? Imagine if Huntress’ hatchets worked like that — it’d be busted.
- Why does he get Haste just for throwing the axe?
- Why does he get wallhacks after hitting someone?
- Why does he get a safe pickup when the axe is in the survivor?
HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN AXE IN THE FNAF GAMES. As far as I can tell, it’s from some random music video? This feels like a completely fabricated power designed to cater to newer players.
All of these mechanics seem intentionally baked in so that beginners can spend $20 and immediately start getting 4Ks. That’s frustrating, especially for players who actually want a challenge.
There’s something genuinely rewarding about mastering a difficult killer — Huntress, Nurse (yeah, maybe controversial), Wesker, etc. Try landing a power hit with one of them in your first few matches. It’s hard. It takes practice. And if you miss? You get nothing. No crutch.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t have accessible killers — but they shouldn’t be this hand-holdy. The game is at its best when skill and mastery are rewarded.
