A couple of things.
- The survivors have control over Surge not the killer as survivors choose where the chase ultimately ends or at.least the general area. However Ruin is under the killer's control as it starts the regression on the generator you chased them off of aka the ones your trying to protect.
- Ruin is just flat out better with more overall up time even if cleansed half way through a match. Ruin's regression starts at the beginning of a chase and not the end making it have a SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER up time when compared to Surge.
The total regression in games where I have Surge vs Ruin even counting the upfront regression surge has the uptime ruin has since its at the beginning of the chase means it got well more then double if not triple the total regression even in games where it lasted only 5 out of the 10 mins the game had lasted.
Finally being honest: From the way you talk about Surge you clearly haven't played with it at all and/or not played with Ruin enough to get a proper contrast.
If they power through gens ruin does nothing, you need to be a high pressure killer to get use out of it. With surge you can cause gens you weren't able to pressure to be regressed.
Seriously, ruin is an ok perk that doesn't last nearly as long in most games as you give it credit.
I play all killers and ruin is best on killers that induce pressure, while surge is better on set up killers.
We're going to disagree here because honestly you can't have a conversation without trying to discredit the other side.

Then that would be just a worse ruin.
The whole argument about it being used to begin regression kinda falls flat once you realize ruin is objectively better at doing that then surge is.
I honestly want to know where this idea that its a "Time Saver" perk even came from given how many people say it despite it having no basis in reality. Aka which youtuber/streamer called it that?
It is a time saver in that I do not have to walk over to the gen to regress it, especially in situations that I would rather start another chase, than have to pop a gen.
Ruin does its job better in a perfect situation, but in the scenario of ruin being cleansed and there being only 2 gens left I would rather protect the gens with surge than have to walk up to each individually.
In plain terms, ruin does not last all game vs a semi competent team, so I would rather not rely on it vs something I can control.

You clearly don't play killer a lot if you think Purge is used as a time saver as HEX: Ruin is strictly better then it as a time saver(Trust me I have tried both on legion and plague ruin is better for both as a time saver even if cleansed halfway through a match).
It also doesn't help that ruin is also a better regression perk.
Surge's point is to spread out regression across multiple generators including ones being worked on and its cooldown is far too restrictive to allow that.
Telling someone that has over 3k hours and is rank 1 on both sides that they don't play killer much is just insulting. We weren't even discussing ruin, I mentioned time save as a comparison to pop, but please continue adding new comparisons and not addressing what I actually said.

Here's a better question:
If 2 people have gone down against lets just say an extended tier 3 Michael within range of surge and someone is still on the gen then I'd have to ask what's the bigger issue there?:
The 16-24 percent gen regression(Less then one pop or equal to it in an average case)
Or
The near guaranteed 3rd down.
Meyers is probably the worst example of this you could give. Ghostface is a probable for fast repeatability. Plague, and legion as well could do this. The point is that the cd is there so you can't just walk from gen area to gen area killing their progress. It's a time saver, which in regards to the ability vs pop comes out to still less in most cases, but if you can chase another person immediately while it's regressing it is better.
-

Just lower to a smaller CD. No cd would be bad too (GF and Meyers could abuse it, as well as nurse, since most of the time you're getting downs really quick). OR, if the CD is kept, make the regression be a little bit higher? 10% ? 15 maybe?
I'd be ok with it being like 12% with the same cd, either that or you could increase the radius by 8-12m and I think it would make it more powerful.

TBH it really doesn't need a cooldown given that regressing generators are immune to surge.
Aka Surged generators are immune to being surged again until a survivor begins to fix them again.
If there was no cd I think it'd be too strong. There are killers who can take advantage of it being no cd and could regress gens excessively if someone is actually sitting on a gen nearby.

Giving him an extra trap sounds good to me, been wanting this for along time. Also maybe centralize traps more instead of some being in the middle of nowhere

Oh don't get me wrong, i thoroughly believe its killers choice at this stage, you're just doing what you do and the blame never gets thrown your way for someone else being a d**k :D
Oh believe me I wasn't trying to defend myself, just wanted to let you know that even though I do knock you down, I do it to punish the person farming you <3
-
@SoylentPixie said:
It's fairly simple from my perspective. If you unhook me while the killer is chasing you, ESPECIALLY without BT, I am going to assume you are either hook farming me or trying to get the killer off your back by giving them an easy rehook (and gods bless you legends who leave the farmed player alone in favor of chasing the farmer).
Now. DBD gives you a choice on whether you play as a team or screw people over, and if you are in the latter category...well your playstyle is legitimate i guess.
However if you pull this s**t i will leave you high and dry for the rest of the match.
I'll usually knock down the unhooked (sorry) to deny the unhooker their emblem progress, then I'll chase the unhooker for farming you.
-
@RbLen said:
Agreed. But the devs don't want instances where a killer is denied of his power, hence why they gave Plague a corrupt fountain at the start. Then again lets be honest, when are you going to run into 4 survivors running No Mither, and you play Oni.
I ran into 3 while running splintered hull and renjiro's bloody glove. Let's just say it wasn't hard to find them.
-
So your solution is to make all but the pink key basically useless?
Nobody uses the green key for a reason, so making purple key just a longer use version is pointless.
Making moris require the person to be on death hook is equally as pointless unless you just want to avoid DS.

I missed out on the 4th anniversary hat for claud and Ds.. how do you thin i feel?
I thought they said they would not make exclusives again.
I honestly forgot about the 4th anniversary skins. They really need to stop making exclusive things unless they plan on reversing the give everyone event cosmetics decision.
-
I have to admit that seeing the event cosmetics being given to everyone was really annoying. If that hadn't happened I would be less annoyed about legacy skins, but legacy was such a short time period. I got the game within a week of first hearing about it in late 2016 and was crushed when I learned that I missed out on even trying for legacy by a mere week or two. I honestly don't care at this point, I want to earn those skins, but I can't. I'll never cheat them because I like feeling like I earned things myself, but not being able to have them because of timing and then everyone gets event skins that they didn't participate in leaves me very dissatisfied.

Two hooks for a single Survivor doesn't fix the issue of why Ebony and Ivory mori's are so powerful.
Add a prerequisite of hooking each Survivor once before the Ebony or Ivory mori activates, done.
It's not that simple. If you add that prerequisite then the Mori is now in survivor's hands. SWF? Just have one person hide all match and the Mori can't be used.
-
In the ebony it's meant to say all survivors, not a survivor
-
I'll throw my hat in the ring.
Ivory Momento Mori - After 2 hook actions you may kill a survivor by your own hand. Survivors cannot be killed if they have not been hooked at least once in the trial.
Ebony Momento Mori - After 4 hook actions you may kill a survivor by your own hand. Survivors cannot be killed if they have not been hooked at least once in the trial.
This would keep the overall power of each respective Mori while also drastically reducing the ability to take one person out of the game immediately.
-
There are four different feelings for me as a red ranked killer. Success, had a kill or two in a tough game or a complete wipe in an evenly matched game (I still count it as a complete wipe if they find hatch). Disappointment, Made poor decisions or wiped a completely incompetent team/ team that gave up. Frustration, DS abuse (playing as trapper makes this funny for locker abusers) and overuse of very strong building tiles. Determination, watching that overly cocky survivor tbag on the other side of a pallet or window and downing them shortly after.
It doesn't need to be a 4k, most of the time I'm having fun unless I'm personally not doing well. DS and building abuse is rare for me as I'm getting better about building pathing and DS is easy to avoid/eat early if I need to.
-
I've been playing for over 3 and a half years on pc and can remember only a handful of times I encountered someone hacking and most of the handful was in the earlier days of the game. I will say though dc's against me as killer have been probably 3 times more prevalent since crossplay started.

I was responding to what I thought was you talking about a default nurse, not an unable to blink nurse. Be more civil in your responses and it might reflect better on you.

If she could do that then why would wraith even need a buff. He's OP
I play without add-ons 99% of the time. She is perfectly capable of it, you just need to be pretty good with her. Comparing her to wraith or really any killer is nonsensical though as most killers cannot just teleport through objects to land hits, they need to deal with the loops to varying degrees.

Nurse is still the best killer in the game....
I think I still agree with that. She was always the highest skill floor and ceiling as well. Her skill floor just also became higher with the nerfs as she now has more nuances to her power.

I'd love to see something australian aboriginal or pacific islander. There is a lot to draw from there I feel.

Ranks mean nothing for ksill yes. It does however set a baseline that they are at the least expected to have basic game skills, know some of the perks and activity. If you're consistently red rank safe to say you at least play each month. Safe to say I will take a boosted red or purple survivor over a rank 20 who literally can't pass skill checks.
I have to disagree as a majority of reds and purples can't take criticism or suggestions. If I face a low rank player who is learning then they can appreciate advice and maybe become a better player for it.
-
Ranks literally mean nothing and I've gotten more people who flat out potato in red ranks after the revert than anything. I enjoyed what felt pretty even for me during mmr when I was playing killer, but now? I stopped playing last night after 5/6 games being easy 4k's against "red ranks"

I found that for my main killer (Michael) the system worked perfectly. I am Rank 12-13 at any given time and my match ups were good overall. HOWEVER, the moment I played any other Killer, who were only Rank 1-5 all I got were matches against Rank 1-5 players that are Gods. It is really silly. I don't know what hard switch there is but clearly it was routing me to the OPPOSITE of where I needed to be. I've heard form the God-Like people they get the same thing. So the system they were testing only works for people in the middle, not at either end of the spectrum.
But I'm rank 1 on killer and it was fine, then today they turned it off and I got red ranks who looked like rank 18's against a doctor
-
My games were very much like yours, 8/10 games felt fair. Guess we're magical unicorns
-
I honestly have no idea how so many people had problems. Most of my matches were pretty good (excluding a couple here or there). Idk, back to people complaining about matchmaking anyway since no one is ever happy.

Some DLC perks are objectively better builds though and give you more of a competitive advantage also I never said paying for characters was wrong just the perks plus theyres no overlap with the perks on those characters and the ones I had mentioned so I dont see your point on why it matters you had to pay for them.
I'm not sure if you're confusing objective with subjective or not, but nothing is objectively better in this game unless you do a direct comparison of something like spirit's mobility is better than trapper's.
-
@Hi_Hello_Gooday said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1529494#Comment_1529494
The main difference is you have to pay or wait two years for those advantages
You also have to pay for each of the killers you mentioned. Look we're going to disagree on the perks, because I don't play bbq on gf, I honestly just hate MYC on anyone because I don't just run back to hook, and I don't play Surveillance on ph because I like I'm All Ears much better (yes another paid perk).
I get your opinion, but you have to remember that your opinion on some perks doesn't make it pay to win, it just makes your personal builds pay to win.
-
You keep saying that certain perks give you advantages, they all do, hence the name 'perks'.
You also keep saying this is unethical, which it isn't. You make a choice to buy it or not. Getting the 'day one advantage' isn't easy since you need to get that advantage through lots of work plus the money you paid.
Do I think the shrine should open more perks than 4 at a time? Sure. Let's say 6 or even 8. Something more to look forward to and less waiting overall.
Do I think everything should be available day 1 for shards? No. I think they should go back to having a couple perks from the dlc available after a couple weeks though.
One last thing though.
Ruin, Nurse's Calling, Stridor, Pop Goes The Weasel, Infectious Fright, Corrupt Intervention, Whispers, M&A, Sloppy Butcher, and Discordance are all perks in base game or available on characters you can obtain with shards. In conjunction most of these perks are better than the ones you listed.
-
I guess I'm red ranked so maybe that's what you mean
-
I use a gateau every match if I have them on the killer I'm playing. If I don't have one I use bps, doesn't matter to me, gonna play my best either way, but also going to be as fair as possible.
-
I've jumped a couple times at pallet stuns, also had times where I don't react with anything but "why did you stun me? I didn't even know anyone was here"
Spookiest moment though was as survivor watching a meyers walk past the gen in shack that I was behind, just to go into the basement and find someone else. It was otherworldly how silent it was except for his footsteps.

They are fine indeed. Now maybe bad killers can stop relying on a easy mode perk to find every one cause their to lazy to actually do it themselves.
As a colorblind person I'm already trying harder to find people. Blood is non-existent except indoors, scratch marks are abysmal at best, don't murder my auras

With Hag, I think Flashlights should reveal her Traps but not destroy them.
With Wraith, I think he should be able to be burned, but they should replace the status effect function of his two 'Blind Warrior' add-ons with the new function of: 'slightly increased burn resistance' and 'slightly increased burn recovery + slightly increased burn resistance'.
Believe it or not, but they actually used to do that before they reworked his add-ons a while back. They were 30% and 40% increased resistance to light burn.

See I would agree with you on the vault speed if killers wouldnt stop hitting me after I take 8 steps.
Where are you vaulting that you get caught that quickly afterwards? Vault speed builds can be extremely useful in loops and saved me at windows many, many times over
-
I will say that sole survivor's numbers are just a bit too high, in a vacuum they might be ok, but let's say you're running a vault build shall we. You could put it with resilience and spine chill and suddenly you're vaulting 30% faster when injured, which is absurd. Take that same build and turn it loose on gens and that's 24% faster even when not being looked at and not only that but you can't have your aura read. My suggestion would either be to do away with the loss of aura reading and make it more like 4/6/8%, or have the aura reading loss and make it more like a 3/4/5%.
Overwhelming presence honestly should not just flat out replace distressing with the 40% increase, 15-20% is probably fine. Also the item degradation I feel is unnecessary since you're already making them use it faster, the forever builds would love this perk with only the slowdown when in terror radius tbh
-
I'm still playing after I started in December 2016, just currently taking a break since atm I am enjoying rainbow 6 seige.

From a survivor's perspective, I hate them because they reward survivors for playing badly and it teaches survivors bad manners. Borrowed Time is a good example of people not knowing how to actually make good saves. They just run in and unhook because that's what borrowed time taught them. And so when they meet a killer that counters this perk, like Freddy, well, they end up just farming their teammates a vast majority of the time.
Hell, to use Decisive Strike when being tunneled, you have to literally and intentionally lose the chase instead of running away like you should.
I just had someone I was surviving with that was farming off hook vs a legion. When I asked why they were saving immediately and getting people downed they gave me the excuse that they didn't have bt yet and I'm not running meta perks so I shouldn't complain. I just sat there thinking, "but why?". Needless to say I was very confused and frustrated.
-
Nea has been my main survivor for 3.5 years, that won't change, especially since they keep coming out with some really nice cosmetics for her.
Killer I've never really had a main since I play them all, but nurse and plague are my favs and have been for a while.
