I agree, as a survivor main I personally don't care about the color of the survivor and I'm Native American. Whenever I play with Claudettes they usually use iron will or urban and always use the blendette strat. Half of the time Claudettes don't contribute at all, such as not doing gens and hiding. They get hit one time then run away using self-care. I've tried using self-care and I would very much rather have one of my teammates heal me than take a whole decade in a corner doing nothing except be selfish. What I care about most when it comes to the survivors is the perks, not what skin color they are. It's just a game

the thing is, some of us Do care! such as op, and others in this thread. the game isn't all about the mechanics for everyone, the lore and characters are important to a large part of the fan base as well. so even if it doesn't matter to you, that doesn't mean it doesn't matter to others! and if they did add more characters of color it wouldn't matter to you and the others who only play for the gameplay aspect, right? so that's why op brought it up- we love what the devs have done so far in terms of characters, and would like to see more.

  • worrying about forcing diversity is valid tbh! but so far, bhvr have been very good with their characters of color, and put a lot of care and thought into the lore of every character they create. so i feel like asking them to introduce more and different characters of color (and properly confirm existing characters as being of color, such as jake being officially korean, or ace being latino) isn't something to really be worried about.

i'd also personally love for them to explicitly confirm claudette as autistic, since that's obvious what they were hinting at with her 'being different'. it's OK to say the word! and just more neuro diverse characters in general.

being rroma myself, i'd like to see a rroma character in the game. we don't get a lot of representation at all, and when we do, it's usually pretty bad and a racist characiture... but bhvr haven't done things like that, so i'd trust them more than others to include my people in their game.

plus, spreading out and basing more characters on different cultures allows for more mythology to be explored and more customs and folklore! they've done an amazing job with spirit and oni, and the plague, so it would be awesome to see what else they can do.

  • a friend has been trying to rank up back into purples and every single killer theyve been against so far has dcd, and each time, the match looks like this.

    image0.jpg

i dont blame the killer for dcing, this kind of matching is going to suck no matter what :(

  • i can second this, im a fairly good surv and repeatedly get ranked against low rank killers and its so horrible to only be doing good because the killer doesn't know how to play well yet. and the swf ranking working on a cumulative score isn't fair, tbh, because a team of rank 5 survs will run circles around a rank 20, which is what happened to me just now.

    IMG_20200707_150226.jpg

(i only got that kill due to that player messing up and ph's final judgement, otherwise i wouldn't have got any at all. i got two hooks and they were all the same dude.)

when me and my surv team play, we consistently get matched against 20 - 15 killers. it's not fun for us, it's not fun for them. it really needs sorting out before cross play is a thing, because cross play and the differences of play and ability between console and pc are going to make it MUCH worse.

  • glad to know it's not just us! hopefully it's just a bunch of new players coming back for the new characters and events and is evened out soon.

  • hmm, I did see in the recent Q&A that they said a bug was in the match making, so maybe it's that? and it's affecting ps4 more heavily? since it only seems to be ps4 that i see talking about it a lot.

since it's functioning okay for everyone else i hope the team will be able to fix it for us and not have any other issues

  • clown cause he genuinely is just gross to play against, and ig ace since does anyone even use his perks?

This is also causing survivor lobbies to get LONG. I played a solid 10+ games of SWF yesterday. Lobbies were 3-5 minute waits. When they had to go, I played killer. Lobbies are instant. They are losing older killers due to nerfs, long lasting bugs, and things they find unfair not being addressed, but new killers aren't coming in because when you are new, it can be really rough. Its already a solo experience, and so if you don't have fun on your own, you switch to playing with friends or not playing at all, and that is starting to create an imbalance.

yeah, the queues in swf parties are ridiculous, and with the current server issues it's become a bit of a pain to wait 15 minutes for a match, only for the killer to realise you're swf since you just joined together, and d/c. or halfway through a match, they figure it out and d/c, meaning the long queue you were just in kind of was pointless. the way that people abuse swf and also how the match making works for it really discourages people from cooperative play, or even just playing at all and it's very sad.

I like this one, combined with a point modifier for killers.

I think another thing that should be considered, since Gen speed is hard to touch, is reverse leader; if they are SWF, they get a lot of extra information. Make it so other, non-gen actions are slightly skewed towards killer. Since one person finding the Hex totem means the entire SWF finds it, make it so Hex totems get a slight Thrill of the Hunt slow effect against SWFs. Make it so the exit gates take a little longer to open, since people can know when they are nearly opened and which ones to go to. Make it so hook progression is slightly faster, since they can tell their friends when the killer is nearby and if someone is coming to save them. Chests probably don't need to be touched.

I think that this would be a good way to approach it. when I'm in swf, omly one of us generally needs to bring spine chill when we're staying grouped up and can give everyone else an early warning, meaning everyone else can bring other things to speed up gen progression or help with distracting the killer. against more unexperienced killers, it's kind of no contest and we escape 80% of the time. a lot of the time we feel bad for going against new killers, or when a person is playing a killer they've never played before, but still got ranked w us because they're usually better at it. (I know about the one matchmaking bug that puts you against people too high, and killers that realise they're playing against babies can be REALLY mean, hence why I'm glad they took away ranks on the lobby, to prevent bullying newerr players and also lobby dodging. this is a different issue though)

I only just started playing killer, and as rank 15 i keep getting matched against swfs of one rank 20-17 but the rest are 10-8 and run circled around me the entire game, constantly flashlight me, and tbag at the gate and point and man lemme tell you. when you're just starting out? that is really discouraging and just makes a person not have fun and not want to play. i have friends who refuse to play killer because of this kind of thing. which isn't ideal, when you play a game you want to play all modes and enjoy most of it, you know?

so yeah I think matchmaking in this way would help a lot with these kinds of parties.

  • and just had two 9 and an 8, with a 17. for real, if you're in swf, you should be matched against someone closer to your highest rank player.

and i'm saying this as a surv main lmfao i literally only just started playing killer and this is beyond funny.

  • i second the making the text bigger for sure, or at least an option to increase it via customisation options.

i have bad eyesight even with my glasses and have trouble focusing on large parts of text due to disability, so it would really help with parsing perk descriptions and power descriptions if the text was bigger and bolder.

just scaling up the size of the hud itself would be very helpful imo, it's very hard to read names or see status symbols that are on screen

  • the matchmaking is a severe issue here honestly... my friend just started playing killer and is a rank 18. they just got matched against a rank 11 prestige survivor. last night, we were playing swf and got put against a rank 8 killer, and we're rank 16 surv. how is that fair??

  • i'd love to hear the survivors saying things on the startup screen/lobby screen ect, it always throws me off whenever i suddenly hear ash but nobody else speaks

  • definitely could see how some survs would abuse that to hell or just use it to ######### with the killer, or even other survs.

more hand gestures however would be very useful, esp if you're on first hook- a Don't Get Me gesture would be nice to communicate to some people it's not worth the risk, and the spamming the try to escape button doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone

also a way to flip off the killer while on hook would be nice :p

i second thumbs up/down so that we don't have to turn the camera so much to nod/shake head, or just communicate that we don't want healing, or if going a certain way is risky, or we have a different plan.

even for killers i think that would be good, or just any gestures for killer would be nice. sometimes i want to give a surv the hatch but they don't quite understand me flailing my main weapon in the air means 'go this way'
