  • Because being forced to sit on the ground for 4 minutes and do nothing is perfectly balanced and survivor is very easily and killer is too hard and needs to be buffed ;;_;;

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Nah, not really. A speed up when nobody is able to rescue anymore or an instant bleed-out (similar to the instant Sacrifice) when nobody can pick them up anymore would be suitable. But an escape, not at all.

Some Survivors even crawl away so that the Killer cannot find them. Either just to annoy them or to have a better chance to be healed up.

in that case survivors should just instantly die the first time they're put into dying. if a survivor can crawl so far away that a killer's can't find them, it's 1000% because the killer was greedy instead of securing a hook. killers shouldn't be slugging down all 4 survivors at 4 gens remaining anyways, yet you people will defend that but cry any time survivors rush gens

    @ZCerebrate said:

To be honest it should be the opposite where a mechanic should be in play where that dying bleeding out survivor on the ground just instantly bleeds out to deny bloodpoints if they don't have a key in hand or any way to stand back up (stuck between 0~95% recovery for X amount of time) and the hatch is closed on them with all exit gates closed.

I've personally crawled into the hatches more than once after being slugged and lost in that scenario you listed above (but that's entirely on the killer at that point for greeding) but it's admittedly a waste of time once all "hope" is lost (Even for Lore implications beyond the gameplay) and your Unbreakable is already expended or not equipped. Either the Killer is just watching you bleedout for a few minutes out of spite, honestly can't find you do to dying iron will bugs, or the survivor has hidden very well somewhere on a large map... it's a waste of time if there is no sliver of chance of an actual escape.

Counting it as an "escape" would be a bit of a leap in logic

if you manage to sit on the ground for 4 minutes and the killer never picks you up and hooks you, you shouldn't be rewarding the killer AND punishing the survivor. Basic logic here. Any killer with more than 20 hours can find a survivor they've downed, if a survivor manages to crawl away it it entirely the fault of the killer.

I guarantee I've bene playing killer and survivor longer than any of the shitposters on this thread, especially you. But you get reddit killer mains with ~200 hours coming in constantly to these forums putting out stupid opinions just because they've been inconvenienced one time. on the other hand, I have over 2000 hours in this game, and my opinions come from my own experience gameplay on both sides. I take overall game mechanics, culture, and player feedback into consideration, you do nothing but watch streamers getting bullied by SWF squads and think you know the game.

    Or a better solution: Cross-play isn't optional. It's mandatory.

More players in the player pool = better overall average wait time.

Crossplay should never have been introduced before a functional mmr system. I can't even play survivor because console survivors are so bad and console killers can only camp. playing killer at rank 1 feels like going against rank 15s, even though they're all rank 1.

  • @mintchapstick said:

Crossplay has done huge harm to the game, console player just cannot compete with pc players I've started playing killers without perks or using really bad perks just because of how easy rank 1 has been recently, because of console players

  • @tippy2k2 said:

I'd guess it's on by default because BHVR wants people playing cross platform. Their goal is to get people to play cross platform so why would they default it to off?

If other people start realizing this, they can put pressure on the devs, or at the very least this will encourage people to avoid using crossplay and remind them that it's optional

  • can't blame the devs for console hardware being trash

I fully admit to camping, and tunneling when I do it. But most of the time this is still on survivors or just that there is nothing for me to do beyond that.

Tunneling is usually done if capturing any other survivors is not possible or likely to happen. Lets say I am playing against 2 Blendettes and 2 neas. In this scenario the neas are gods of looping, clicking flash light and in general never runs far from the strongest looping points. The blendettes on the other hand, are used to just immersing themselves and hiding.

In this made up and not at all happens all the time scenario, if I find a nea after a few experiences with them, I would ignore them and go for the claudettes if I find them. And hardcore focus them. If I manage to kill them soon it doesnt matter if the neas can loop me for minutes at a time if there is only one of them left to do gens. Chasing the neas is a huge detriment to my chance of winning. Is this tunneling? Absolutely but its the only game plan I have.

A more common thing that happens is if people unhook unsafely, and then hide or dissappear. Now I can waste time looking for someone I cant find or I can chase the guy bleeding, crying and leaving scratch marks. It happens every day. IF you unhook someone unsafely you have to take responsibility and take a hit or as they say "take aggro".

As for camping. I dont really like camping. But I do do it for a few reasons.

    1. Is the simplest. 5 gens are done and I have one on the hook and dont have noed. Im not gonna spend time risking everything for most likely nothing.
    2. I got pissed off at someone for something done during the game. Its not really a good reason at all but it doesnt happen that often anymore. Getting over most peoples acts during the game.
    3. Just general annoying things. Like if someone snuck in a key and I didnt notice(usually bring a mori to counter) or if its OOO. But those are just personal rules that also include tunneling. If you bring a key or you have OOO to me that just means you want a hard game or attention. You may disagree but I cant stand that perk or items

-Your argument is flawed from the start because "to be fully immersed" means you're doing nothing productive, and if you "stay near the strong loop point at all times", you're not going to be near/ doing gen. it's always possible to catch a survivor, the only issue is if it would waste too much time doing so.

-if someone instantly unhooks another survivor, slug that survivor and chase the farmer.

Nobody said you can't camp to secure a killer when 5 gens are done, if you decide to camp someone because you don't like them- that's fine but admit that you camped/ don't be mad if they call you out for it, and OoO is designed to get you tunneled so there's no harm in giving them what they want

    >Doing everything you can to make the game unfair and unfun for the other side is toxic.

Did I say these strategies are to "make the game unfair and unfun for the other side" or they are "beneficial" aka "winning the game"? If I'm facecamping a survivor just to make him RQ, then it is indeed toxic, but if I'm doing that, knowing (for example) other survivors will come for rescue and give me free hits and downs, that is not toxic no matter how much unfair does it feel for the other side. Same for mori, strong addons and killers.

    >You're right, we shouldn't compare T-bagging and camping, because Tunneling/ camping are objectively worse.

You can't say one or the other are worse or better, because they are completely different things.

    >T-bagging/ flashlight clicking only harms the survivor doing it by wasting their time

And also showing disrespect and bad manners. That's one of toxic things to do, because they are doing that to make killer frustrated and angry and not to win in any way.

    >your "strategy" is just abusing poor/ overly simplistic game design for an advantage.

I'm sorry that playing good is "abusing poor/overly simplistic game design". Also, my job is to kill and if tunneling/camping will result in more kills or will preserve me a kill in a lost game, I will camp and tunnel because that is the smartest thing to do. The same thing is applied to survivors, who (f/e) are going to rush gens (which is also considered "toxic" among some killers with same mindset as people like you) no matter how "toxic" or how "unfun" it would be for the killer who is camping in that situation, because that is the smartest thing for the to do.

-It doesn't matter what you say, what you're doing does give you an unfair advantage

-completely different things, because on actually affects gameplay and the other is just a little annoying

-Screwing over a player in a way that they can't possible escape, regardless of their own skill, is bad manners. Deal with it.

-You don't have to camp or tunnel to "play good", that's just a crutch you use when you're bad to gain an unearned advantage.

You're right, we shouldn't compare T-bagging and camping, because Tunneling/ camping are objectively worse. T-bagging/ flashlight clicking only harms the survivor doing it by wasting their time, your "strategy" is just abusing poor/ overly simplistic game design for an advantage.

Ffs why would a killer just walk off and let a survivor save a team mate free of charge? Also, a killer can still walk to a nearby gen, kick it and then return to the hook to ward of survivors, which ain't camping.

leaving the hook (to kick a gen) = not camping

staying near the hook and not dedicating yourself to other survivors to make sure no one can safely save = camping

"But if the killer is camping just punish them by doing gens lol" Most of the time, nobody else knows if a survivor is being camped. That's why SWF with VC is so strong, the entire team becomes dynamic and quickly adapts to new situations. Normal survivors gameplay (aka. solo queue) is the worst experience in the game because there is absolutely nothing that punishes cheap tactics, and there is no way for survivors to communicate.

Even playing a weak killer against a min-maxed SWF group isn't as bad as playing solo queue survivor most of the time, because no matter what happens to you as killer you can always get at least 1 kill if you're semi-decent and there are no game breaking bugs

  • @Toxicity23 said:

The term 'Toxic' is so damn flexible, it makes Feminists who yell out someone looking at them '######### them' that makes the judicial system have to double-check what they meant by '#########', look like a crude joke.

'Toxic' in dead by daylight could be used for literally anything if the Survivor (or Killer) deems it 'not right' or 'unfair'.

It can be toxic to camp or proxy, with survivors failing to realize that killers proxy or camp because they are aware that survivors are nearby and are trying to secure a kill or get MORE hooks.

It can be toxic to click your flashlight. (Suffice to say, this has become fact.)

It can be toxic to do LITERALLY ANYTHING that either side doesn't like.

It's also hilarious that the Survivors think most things a killer does, even their literal job, is 'toxic' and is 'unfun'. Failing to realize that you are having fun by tormenting the-

Oh my god. I just had a realization as to why there's so much toxicity. I'm putting this into a discussion feed, but either way.

'Toxic' in this game might be so flexible, it makes rubber look like a joke.

So trying to get someone to admit something 'toxic' isn't because they have egos and deny it. It might be the toxic thing isn't actually considered toxic by most people. But you think that there is a massive amount of things someone can do (or something bad enough) that you have to ask (or command) everyone to stop being so egotistical and admit their toxicity... Yet you don't seem to understand too many things are considered toxic for unexplained or unfair reasons.

TL;DR: This post is a joke. 'Toxic' has too many meanings and you can't just 'admit it' when you've done nothing wrong to some people.

I was wrong, Ego isn't killing this community, ignorance is.

Intentionally choosing to do something "Unfair or not right" when you don't have to IS the definition of being toxic, but people like you don't seem to have the empathy or game knowledge to understand what you're doing on a bigger picture.

You CAN win the game as killer without without camping or tunneling, you CAN win the game without going into a coordinated SWF group with the same 4 perks, but IF you don't HAVE to, it's toxic. Doing everything in your power to make the game unfun for the other side is- say it with me- T O X I C !

There are two human sides to this game, and if you choose to be play the same unbalanced way every game, not only is it boring as hell but it's unfun for the other side. I play this game to have fun, and cheesing the same bs tactic every game is not fun. People like you on the other hand play as trash as you want, but when you someone on the other side is a bit mean to you, you make a big deal out of it (P.S clicking your flashing is no where near as toxic as killing someone with 5/4 gens left :P)

TL;DR: The entire point of this post wasn't to say "all tunneling bad!!1", it was to get people to stop being stubborn and admit when they've done something toxic, but I severely overestimated the IQ and capacity for empathy of the average human being. Many people who act toxic, whether it be in game or in real life, don't even understand what they're doing.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

Not everything in this game is cut that clear I am afraid.

I also don't think any of the things you have listed are toxic. The killer who camped for the sake of camping can and is allowed to do that. Call them out if you want, I know I do. Still doesn't make them toxic in a game where you are virtually allowed to do it. This is why I would rather turn it into feedback because I do think it's too much of a luxury in some cases.

being allowed to do something doesn't make it right. I /could/ slug a survivor on the ground for 3min 55s when they're the last one alive, but that would be toxic. This was the point of this thread, to make people admit when they've been toxic instead of denying it when it is clear.

  • @Peanits said:

See, the problem there is that you lump everything in together. The reason why people are still talking about those things after all this time is because there is no single right answer. If I'm getting camped on the hook because my teammates are rushing towards the hook before the killer can leave, that's not the killer being toxic, that's the killer being smart. It's not his fault, it's my teammates.

Something isn't inherently toxic unless you're doing it with the intent to ruin the game for people.

There is a fine line between punishing greedy survivors and stopping a survivor on the hook from possibly being safely saved. Shelter woods/ red forest are horrible maps for this because of how open it is as you can see where most survivors are.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1431984#Comment_1431984

Well technically, that's not camping. If survivors are all around a hook, I'm not leaving as a Killer. If a killer can't find anyone yet stays close to the hook, then that's camping.

if a survivors runs straight for the hook, then yeah, but if you watch all sight lines and instantly abandon chase if you see someone going for the save while within TR, then you're camping which again, is fine if you have to.

I Feel like I should also mention proxy camping since a lot of people don't know what it is, which is just the killer using their power to go back to the hook. (Nurse blink back, using a power that moves faster to go back [Billy, Sprit, wraith, Freddy, Demo], surrounding the hook with bear/ hag traps/ etc..)

  • @The_Krapper said:

It is impossible for anything you do in game (outside of sandbagging) to be toxic, you're not cheating and if someone wants to get all in their feelings over pixels doing a butt dance or getting camped , then that's on the person that allowed themselves to get mad at a game in the first place, the only thing toxic in the game is post game chat

Nobody says it's more than just annoying/ bad manners, but people should just admit they were toxic instead of denying it/ calling the other side salty for pointing it out

  • @Sylorknag said:

Camping still part of the killer objective, we liked or not, despite being annoying as hell.

T bagging at the gates has nothing to do with survivors objective.

When they do it during the game, I understand they're trying to pull aggro, but at the gates? They're going out of their way to be toxic.

    Just my two cents.

Camping is toxic, killing survivors is your objective. if you're at 4 gens and you decide to camp, don't tell me "that's your objective"

some survivors T-bag at the gate when they escape a toxic killer, but otherwise yeah it's a dick move. Part of me thinks there should be something to make gates less safe, like "Run out asap or something bad happens to you". Maybe you have to face a hard skillcheck if the killer enters the gate while you've been sitting there for a while, but tunneling/ camping would have to be fixed first so that when you do escape it's not luck based

  • @TheHentity said:

in all honesty though its often a matter of perspective as well.

I have been called a camper and tunneler when I go out of my way not to do so sooo yeah.

A scenario: if you play killer, you hook someone, you go around, nobody is saving, right before they go to stage 2 you return to the hook, that is just a smart and punishing thing to do at that point.

You either let survivors do unhooks or gens, not both, if they choose to not unhook until the last moment so they can have as much gen progress as possible, thats fine, but that is their risk to carry.

But the killer will be called a camper or tunneler in the endgame chat for sure.

That's fair, but I'm talking more about clear cut cases, like if the killer chases someone away from the hook, and then spots another person crouching in the distance and switches targets, and then repeated until the survivors hook rots

  • Deathslinger has always been broken, the music they chose for him doesn't help either since it's almost silent compared to normal game sounds

  • People can't tell the difference between a coordinated SWF bully group (litterally like 1% of the playerbase) and a regular group of survivors. most of the people on this forum/ reddit likely don't even have 500 hours in the game, yet act like they're experts because they watch old Ochido videos

Billy is supposedly completely fine but they're gonna nerf him to add that extra bit of "counterplay". So when is DS, the perfectly balanced survivor perk that totally not everyone in red ranks use because it's a crutch second chance perk, gonna get it's own little taste of extra "counterplay"?

A community manager was the one who suggested this and I think it's fantastic. DS can mostly remain exactly how it is right now, but if the survivor gets healed, starts healing another player, touches a gen, enters a locker, or unhooks another survivor it automatically cancels DS. The healing portion should cancel it if they touch a survivor just like if they touch a gen, and the self healing portion should cancel it if their healing progress exceeds 30%. That second part is important because survivors would just 99 their bars so they can still keep DS up till the last second but still leaves them some room incase a teammate accidentally taps M1 on them and basically feeds them to the killer.

The way he put it was pretty much DS is fine if they don't want to get tunneled but by performing an action like mentioned above then they themselves are making the choice to put themselves back in the game and should lose their protection.

DS is trash. If the killer has more than 50 hours in the game, 90% of the matches I go into DS is an empty perk slot because I don't play SWF and the killer knows how to slug and has the IQ of a common house cat or greater the perk does literally nothing

Even when you do get to use it it's literally only 5 seconds, it's not going to turn the tide of a game

Also this: "Ruin the game for every new player or casual friend group that you come across." is straight up disgusting. Purposefully bullying lower ranks/new players is straight up disgusting and petty af.

Bullying newer players isn't going to get these changes reverted. It didn't work when ruin got changed, it didn't work when other killers got changed and it didn't work when legendary skins (Lisa) were introduced either...

Really shows what kind of community this is if the first idea is to make the game unenjoyable for everyone involved.

That's the killer mentality unfortunately. killers get all the power in a match and that goes straight to some people's head. Any survivor that looks at them wrong gets tunneled to death

  • Imagine getting this upset over a minor tweak. "oh no I can't spam my power so much anymore, this is LittErAlLy a game breaking nerf"

  • I think we should even out the OP perks first.

-Pop (no cooldown, extremely abusable on high mobility killers)

-Adrenaline (you don't need the speed AND the heal, one or the other.

-DS (only when the survivor is not being tunneled/ when the gates are powered. Otherwise this perk needs a buff to have any value as an anti-tunneling perk)

-infectious fright (should not proc on insta-downs)

-Fire Up (literally most OP perk in the game bro :^) )

  • Killers are not getting nerfed, survivors have gotten nerfed nearly every update for about a year and a half now. git gud.

  • Freddy doesn't need a nerf, pop does.

  • The cooldown exists because getting loud noise notification spam is horrible, I don't know what rocks you've been looking under, but a lot of people agree with me. that's part of the reason why nobody uses that perk.

How can any sane person play killer and still endure hours of abuse like this? Experience like this only makes me realize how little survivors care about the community, the vast majority of them only seems to exist to torture the killer. Funny how quickly the tables turn within the Entity's realm.

I wish the devs would finally do something to make killers feel better, it's already bad enough that they're exposed to bullying due to the 1v4 setup. Now add the broken matchmaking and SWF groups to the mix and you've hit rockbottom. There's truly no break for killers.

If reading a few mean words in the end of game lobby is too much for you, I'm pretty sure you can have that window close by default. killers bully during the match and survivors bully in the end chat, that's literally the only power survivors have unless you have other friends to SWF up with or get very lucky with queuing, you're ######### ed

I gave you an example of regression that can be stopped by gen tapping in the third sentence. And yes, it did stop the gens regression.

All gen tapping sucks the survivor into the gen, no matter how efficiently they tap, AND it cancel's the survivor's running momentum, so they will need a second to get back to full running speed

    Video example:

    https://youtu.be/Yl3Q7a8MKi4?t=38

  • There are a lot more people taking this seriously than there should be, so here's the solution: Injure the survivor and THEN kick the gen, so if they do go back to touch it, they will be putting themselves at risk

  • @Chordyceps said:

Let's be real, Gen Tapping is one of the stupidest things in the game right now. The fact that Killer's need to spend about 2 seconds or so to cause a generator to regress (if not running ruin), but survivors only need to touch the thing for a fraction of a second to stop this regression is incredibly unbalanced. I had a match just today where I was chasing a survivor, and in the middle of this chase they tapped a gen so fast that it looked like they hadn't even stopped moving. If killers need to invest a few seconds of their time to cause gens to regress, survivors should have to spend a comparable amount of time to stop this regression. I think in order for a generator's progress to stop regressing, survivors should have to spend about two seconds or so repairing the generator.

despite what you may think, tapping a gen does actually significantly slow down a survivor for a second. if it's in the middle of a loop it's enough time to beat them to the pallet if they're close enough

Honestly why doesnt the cage work like an actual cage. If survivors are sent to the cage they remain there for 45 seconds that can be reduced by skillchecks.they cant be saved. This would make the power a game stall mechanic instead of give survivors a free unhook mechanic.

Also, maybe I'm just "lucky" but I've found a crown in almost every match I've done without even looking.

survivors have to run to gens, the killer can chase people anywhere on the map. if a survivor spends time looking they're wasting time, if a killer spends time looking they can still be doing their objective at the same time.

This is basic common sense, I do not understand why so many people on this forum do not understand. Stop watching "Bullied by SWF" comps, they rot your brain.

It rewards good gameplay (Killing survivor). Didn't know I had to explain that lol. If you as a survivor suck at looping, sucks to suck. Then go stealth or maybe try something new.

U only get an effect of 25% regression on one gen. Splitting up as survivors is ALWAYS the best decision. And you can work on a gen together, but It's not the smartest idea. Going against Pop means to NOT do the first gen u see, split up, finsish the bad gens first so you have the best distance between gens. Pop is not a free card to win. It just gives the killer as much room as the survivor allows him.

if a survivor is being hooked/ killed, the killer is already gaining an advantage. Imagine thinking survivors should be rewarded with faster repair speeds for finishing a gen, or the efficiency penalty shouldn't apply for multiple survivors on one get? Yeah you're on that level.

Also the devs have been nerfing stealth and loops for the past several updates, so it sucks that you clearly haven't even been playing lately to have the slightest clue of what's going on in the game. killers get more and more anti stealth perks with every new killer, and pallets are still broken as hell, and they still haven't done anything about deadzones, so it's hard to understand how someone could suggest "just use stealth" and not be very inexperienced in the game

Also nobody said pop was a free win, but it still needs some sort of limit to it. 60 seconds is such a long time, and that "perk" that's supposed to counter pop by locker down the gen is a complete joke. spreading out isn't a good counter either because that 25% regression turns into a 45% progress reduction if nobody is there to touch the gen after you're chased off it

I know people don’t like what the Devs decided but that’s just how it is.People Need to stop expecting things be handed out to them like Halloween candy.

people are complaining BECAUSE things are getting handed out like halloween candy to killers, but unreasonably difficult for survivors

you know that crowns reset, right?

when somebody collects one it appears somewhere else on the map

Killers have all match to walk all around the map to find a crown, survivors are stuck in one place doing gens

  • Honestly, if a 1 survivors who had a crown was guaranteed an escape if the killer also had a crown, it would make the event much more fair. A killer who gets to keep their crown no matter what happens shouldn't be slaughtering all 4 survivors for any reason

  • @tactic said:

It’s easier for killers because if it was easier for survivors, they would just grab the crown and kill themselves.

Yes, there are killers camping so they can get the crowns for themselves, but there are almost definitely survivors who are also looking for crowns instead of doing the objective.

Please stop this “us vs them” mindset. Why can’t people just enjoy a cosmetic event?

it's not a mindset, it's reality. Have you even been playing the event yet or are you just trying to preach that we should "just work together" and "stop the hate".

if survivors could suicide and keep their crown that would be a problem, but that's not the case at all so it's neither a problem NOR a point of discussion on this post.

Dev's rarely get anything right on the first try. And since this is an event, they won't probably won't change anything. (Unfortunately)

They have had other events to get feedback from. I can see they are taking a step in the right direction but it's still poorly designed. maybe it's just a lack of mechanics to work with.

I really don't understand where those weird "OMG PERK X IS OP BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE USING IT"-Threads are coming from.

PGTW is definetely balanced imo, because it rewards the killer with good gameplay and punishes survivors who played bad. It's simple as that.

There are some simple things to do as survivor and you will never have troubles with pop:

    • Don't brainlessly repair the first gens you see. Always try to atleast repair one or two gens in the middle part of the map.
    • If a gen is popped (Easy to see- It has red/orange sparks) and someone gets downed, don't start repairing it. Do a different gen and go back to it later.
    • Split the gen pressure. If you need to repair one last generator then repair two or maybe three gens instead of just one. He can just prevent one gen, not all of them.

It's easy and simple as that. Pop doesn't need a nerf, nor does Spine Chill need one. Perks like DS need a change, but who am I to judge and decide that, right?

running to a gen after a hook is not "good gameplay" it's the absolute most basic thing a killer can do. the perk doesn't incentive a different play style it literally gives a massive reward for doing what a killer would naturally be doing already. the fact that this reward can be infinitely tapped is a huge concern.

You know how multiple survivors working on a gen causes an efficiency penalty? Pop not having a cooldown would be like that penalty not existing. In an alternate universe, this forum is majorly biased against killers, and in that alternate universe people just like you are complaining about the efficiency penalty. "Why should survivors be punished for working together". It's not an exact comparison btw, I can already see the comments: It's a metaphor.
