  • What exactly do you mean "Entity has control of their age"? I'm not understanding that.

Are you sure you're not on the PTB?

Yes. I don't even have PTB installed.

Thats the case, I have the library with a friend shared which happens to own all DLCs from DbD

Well, that must be it then. Same here: We're also sharing libraries. BHVR, you might want to fix this sooner rather than later, because we can unlock teachables this way!

  • @EntitySpawn said:

whatever the extra lunge one is, make that on hook. honestly getting to use a perk 5 times at max in a trial is stupid

That changes it into more of a "win more" or snowballing perk. If they gain a charge with a gen being completed, it encourages what I consider healthier gameplay that allows a Killer to catch up. They could make it grant more than one charge per gen completed, but I don't think they should make Hooks grant charges.

  • I just made a bug report, because I've had the same "issue", although I've had these new characters unlocked for days now.

By any chance do you play on Steam, and have you ever logged onto a friend's account from your computer? That's what we did and I'm assuming that confused DBD and improperly flagged my computer as having permission to use certain DLC, even though my friend bought them for his account (on my computer), not me. Maybe a similar bug occurred for you?

I love my encouraging backrubs though :O

Yes, their character models are getting reworked early 2021.

Where did you hear this news? Is it only for killers?

  • When we have to try this hard to look for an upside, maybe it's just a terrible perk.

And no, it wasn't meant for new players. If it was meant for new players it would be a base game perk, not DLC.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

Yeah, if you're decent in a chase there's really no reason to shake him off if shes on you.

And if you're playing with friends you can just keep him on to deny her power the entire match.

He should slow by default or drag left to right intermittently to make chases harder.

I love the "drag left to right" idea. If they could tune it so you lose control like a Killer does when carry a wiggling survivor, that would be cool.

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

They do. If the killer camps you they lose rank points and map pressure. Pretty simple. It 30 seconds pass and its obvious the killer isn't leaving just do gens. Camping is only rewarded by stupid survivors.

We need to stop saying this, because obviously:

    1. This doesn't stop killers from camping because we're still seeing tons of complaints
    2. Killers who camp obviously don't care about "rank points". If anything, they want to not rank up so they aren't Vs. better survivors.
    3. Ask the person being camped if they care about "Map pressure". Or if they're just hating the game and they want to suicide on hook? It's not fun at all to die over 2 minutes with literally nothing to do.
    4. "Stupid survivors" is not fair to say. I use Kindred and I still get facecamped, and survivors still crouch nearby waiting for a save they'll never get. We can't be elitist, that will only drive people away.

Solution? I'm sure someone can come up with better ones, but if Survivors switched hooks when Killers face camped (Pre Exit Gates powered) like they do in Pyramid Head's cages, that would be good.

  • The trick to having fun in this game is to go in with no expectations! Some games are downright terrible, and others are moderately enjoyable. If you're frustrated, it's okay to take a break and play a different game for a while: DBD will be waiting for you when you want to return, and trust me, any game is 100x more fun when you come back after a long break and get to see all the new content.

  • I very much disagree! The problem with what you suggested is that you're further encouraging people to play Blendette. What if I want to play Felix? He's super tall, white, and has blond hair. He's not good at hiding. And now you're telling me I'm going to be at even more of a disadvantage? I don't like hearing that.

As someone who also plays Killer now and then, nothing is more boring that stealthy survivors. Maybe it's intense for them as I draw near without seeing them, but on my side it's only boredom and frustration. It's very one-sided, unlike looping. Stealth is boring.

I'm saying, that basically, they will keep getting requests to add representation. So it's kind of a slippery slope, because they shouldn't be focusing on characters based off of sexuality and nationality. And technically, they haven't promised a lgbtq character, they suggested they would be open to it. The developers have said they were going to do lots and haven't done it yet.

That's not what a slippery slope is though, you're misusing the term. A slipperly slope would be something like "We're giving full control of our creative department to GLAAD to ensure we have adequate LGBT representation." because at that point, they can't stop. GLAAD has control now and BHVR is sliding down the slipperly slope, with no ability to stop.

Like I said, people will ask for things regardless of whether there's a precedent for it. And I repeat myself, this isn't asking, this is reminding BHVR of a promise, so this matter is besides the point anyway.

  • From a strategic standpoint, tunneling makes a lot of sense: 3 hooks you're out, if you spread hooks out across the whole team evenly you will lose. The sooner you can knock a player out of the game, the bigger of an advantage it is. And since Survivors are injured coming off the hook (and the one rescuing them is healthy) you're further incentivized to "tunnel".

The downside is that it's absolutely miserable from the Survivor's perspective. The hook is like the respawn timer in other games: You got caught, now suffer a timeout. The problem with DBD is that you are not guaranteed a chance to play the game after your timer runs out, in fact you may get stuck with another timer right away. You're not able to enjoy the game because you're constantly staring at your character on a hook, wondering why you bother with a fundamentally unfair game.

Solution? I don't know! The game is, as I said, fundamentally unfair. Just enjoy the highs and lows and hope next game will be better, and they'll tunnel someone else. The game right now, apart from Borrowed Timer and DS, is designed to encourage tunneling.

Does it even matter? What does sexuality have to do with repairing gens and looping? I play Jake because I picked him from day 1, I don't care what he likes sexually or what his political stance is.

Yes, it does matter. Maybe not to you, but imagine if every character you played or met was gay, their lore was all gay, and when you asked if someone could be straight for a change you got yelled at for asking too much/told who cares. If you were on the other side of the fence, you probably wouldn't be saying "Why does it matter?" is all I'm saying.

But to unequivocally answer your question, it matters because it was promised and because they're obviously focusing more on lore and character development nowadays.

  • @BumpEmOff99 said:

I think the problem is, if someone asks for lgbt characters, then it can lead to someone else who is disabled asking for a disabled character and then someone let's say spanish asking for a spanish character, and so on. As long as they just keep adding good back storys and good killers I'm not fussed, as a mum of 2, I'm not asking for them to add a mother into the game.

Are you saying it's a slippery slope? If they can stop at any time, it's not a slippery slope. They've made no promise to add disabled characters, and people will ask for whatever they want regardless of any set precedent. Also, keep in mind that this thread in particular isn't necessarily asking for LGBT representation as much as it is calling out BHVR for what seems to be an empty promise.

I don't really hear the terror any more than any other survivor. She just doesn't sound female.

I think you're exaggerating a little bit. Not all women have high-pitched or squeaky voices. And I think it's good that we have a new voice that is distinct from the others, so you can tell who is injured right away.

  • I would really like it if they added more emotes instead of Point/Come/Teabag! Give us voice lines and other gestures, give us something lol.

I feel like most of these types of questions can be answered by invoking "Because the Entity does/doesn't allow it."

It's the Entity's world after all.

    The entity is a party-pooper. :(

  • I recently introduced a friend to DBD (I've apologized many times) and he had some critcism too:

    1. The grind is insane. To get to the point where you can have "fun" with builds, you need to grind an obscene amount of BP to unlock teachables on characters you don't like, and then again hope they show up in the bloodweb of your preferred character. It's even worse for Killer, because Killer (unlike survivor) relies far more on their perks. To get to the point where you can actually have a decent build, you must spend a crazy amount of time and money. Reducing the cost of things or increasing BP gain would be nice. It's just so hard to get started in the face of the grind.
    2. It's super difficult at first and somewhat unintuitive. DBD is a niche game, there are people with thousands of hours who are unbeatable and people who just picked up the game and don't know anything about how to play and it's just a mess. The disparity between skill makes games unpredictable, and not in a fun or good way. Either they're insanely good, or useless. The tutorial could use an update, and mechanics could be made more intuitive (looping is weird, but necessary rn)
    3. The game is repetitive. It's just doing gens each game. It does get boring eventually.
    4. Perks that might be useful to new players (Visionary) are locked behind paywalls.
