And how exactly were you to implement it? Do you want the killer to teleport away or something? The issue with facecamping was it became extremely unlikely to get an unhook. The Dev's made it so you could unhook yourself even at second stage. Don't forget you have more than just the scenario where the killer stands in front of the hook. A killer can have legit reasons to be there.

I swear killers who camp/tunnel/slug think they'll burst into flames if they make good faith arguments.

For very obvious reasons that I shouldn't have to state. If the killer isn't camping, then they're not camping. If my argument is "being camped isn't fun" then in what universe is "what if the killer isn't camping?" a counter argument? You might as well asked what the killer's favorite flower is for how relevant it is to this discussion.

Secondly. People complain about these things because it's not fun. Entity forbid people want to have fun playing a video game.

Third. I'm not a game developer and I don't need to have a plan to rework the core gameplay of Dead By Daylight to have a discussion about how the way certain people play makes the game a worse experience.

Lastly. A Dev replied confirming that anti-face camp doesn't prevent camping and somehow killer mains still find a way to argue it does.

  • Bait used to be believable.

Im not going to reply anymore... I've tried to explain the obvious, but you still aren't getting it. I give up...truly.

You're not really explaining anything as much as you are just ignoring their arguments and pretending they don't understand how the feature works.

When being face camped the survivor's best choice is to wait 69 seconds, unhook right before the next stage, give the best possible chase, and repeat for the next hook to let their teammates rush generators.

The fundamental problem here is this. If the feature is named "anti-face camp" then why wasn't face camping prevented? The face camping still happened. It's not named "buy your teammates time while you get face camped."

It does not address or even attempt to fix the issue that face camping makes the game a less fun experience for the player getting camped. The entire reason people dislike camping.

How far away from hooks should killers be forced to go to make you happy? What if they hook someone, leave, turn around and see one or two survivors rush in for the save? Should there be some force field to keep killers from coming back to go after those survivors?

You just described an entirely different scenario as if it was a counter argument.

Will sound childish, but WHY did we want to prevent facecamping?

Because video games are supposed to be fun and spending the entire match on a hook isn't fun.

This thread will now be derailed with bad faith arguments from killer mains claiming that every survivor who gets camped/tunneled/slug is simply bad at DBD and doesn't deserve to have fun.

  • In my opinion the biggest hurdle to overcome when I started playing was how much jargon is in this game.

As an experienced player the concepts of generator speed vs charges vs regression are second hand where as first learning the game was convoluted and poorly explained.

  • People complain about tunneling because it makes the game a worse experience.

Killers are incentivized to tunnel because the difference between 4 survivors and 3 is massive in determining their kill rate. And seeing how tunneling is incredibly easy and consistent there's no downside to doing it.

"How is it easy." At the start of a match you'll have 1 survivor in chase and 3 on gens. Once you hook it becomes 1 on hook, 1 in chase, 1 on rescue, 1 on gens. If you tunnel out the first person it becomes 1 on hook, 1 in chase, 1 on rescue. Gen progression halts.

"How is it consistent." Survivors cannot communicate with each other. Meaning they have almost no chance to successfully save the tunnel target. And will likely sacrifice the time they have to knock out gens in getting themselves slugged to protect the target.

So let's look at this from the survivor perspective. It's not fun to get tunneled out. Never getting to reset means you'll go down rather quickly. You don't get to utilize your perks or items. You spend most of the match on hook not getting to participate.

As the non-tunnel target, your chances of escaping drop so low from the snowball that it's incredibly demotivating.

And to put the icing on the cake. If you do voice an opinion on tunneling, the response is generally condescending. "Akchsully tunneling is a sophisticated and nuanced strategy only for the most intelligent killers and if you got tunneled it's because you're a trash player who should uninstall."

  • I remember reading somewhere that Bhvr wouldn't penalize intentionally dying on hook because it's logistically impossible to differentiate from somebody lagging and missing the skill check.

I'm not sure if that's true but it's odd to see them go against thar philosophy in a much worse way.

  • Good mobility is the strongest power a killer can have.

Nurse, Blight, Wesker, Billy, Wraith are strong for how they zoom around the map.

As opposed to Dredge who can only TP to lockers.

The Ghoul's mobility is what makes him strong.

  • To prevent hostage situations where the killer sets up an unbreakable 3 gen and never kill survivors

  • They're doing it to make you mad.

Instead of getting mad just tab out and watch youtube.

  • Whenever people complain about a killer power that is genuinely obnoxious and unfun to deal with the response from killer mains who use that power is always some varient of "uhm if you can't loop the killer for 5 gens every game you deserve to lose."

Expecting every solo queue survivor to remember the exact location of every totem cleansed across a map is not reasonable. And because it's not reasonable that dealing with a near permanent 30% gen speed penalty makes for a slog of a game.

  • @Bookern said:

Why did you add Spirit and especially Blight to 2v8 before other earlier Killers? Why not add Doctor or Freddy (This one for you Freddy main) or Oni or Myers or Pig or Demogorgon literally way more fairer options then these two annoyances.

Cant wait till Devs reveal the buffs they get is Basekit Cherry Blossoms for Spirit and 3 more Rushes for Blight

Finally only 3 new killers is to little you can add 2 more at least we got 30+ killers the lack of Variety is gonna make 2v8 boring still

Killers that add terrain to the maps probably won't get added as the maps are already cluttered. So Freddy's clocks or Pig's jigsaw boxes make the maps messier.

  • To be fair there are probably a lot of people in bad weather thanks to the hurricane that may be queueing up for matches only to get instantly DCed. You don't have to be in the hurricane's direct path to see violent winds and power outages.

Who hurt you? If you wanted to play a randomising game mode, why are you trying to remove the randomness? If you're scared of not having control over everything in the game, maybe you shouldn't play a game mode like this.

Map offerings are usually an issue when they can be used to break certain builds. This matters less when the builds are random.

did I say watch every game? Maybe only the ones where there were valid reports. Example: only looking into reports from people who have made valid reports not just reporting out of anger. I play to have fun not to win. It’s just not fun for the game to slug or tunnel at 5 gens. Period. Slugging has become a huge issue since the PTB notes. That’s all I’m saying. Does it bother me? A little? What do I do? Watch TikTok’s and crawl away. I love when the killers can’t find me bc they wanted to slug. But still, there should be an option to just give up when you are playing with trolls without a dc penalty. 🤓

First issue is there's no means to know what is a valid or invalid report until you've watched every recording of every game ever reported.

The second issue is its a terrible idea to dismiss somebody's report just because they've made a false report in the past.

Youve set up a lose-lose situation here to solve a problem that doesn't exist

It most certainly can save you. Y'all complain about DS "not doing anything" in matches where you've lost anyway, because you got a bad team or whatnot. In matches with good survivors, DS turns a 3k into a 1k easily, because it takes away all of the killers momentum. You'll stun the killer, teammates do the remaining gens, and they body block you for the 4-man out. If not, oh well. You died so that the other 3 could live.

Well to start my statement was "probably wont" not "cannot." but moving on.
This is under the assumption that you are getting tunneled when 4 gens are done but are lucky enough to get picked up before the 5th gen pops. Which is a pretty specific scenario.
Usually you're getting tunneled out much earlier than that, and your solo queue teammates are going to lack the communication and coordination to effectively do anything about the tunneling. In which case you're not getting out or buying much time for your team as they likely wasted time trying to save you.
We can go through a list of every hyper specific set of circumstances where DS will absolutely get you out, or we can accept the fact that if you're a solo queue survivor getting tunneled then DS isn't that helpful.

  • It's an over-rated perk. It does nothing if the killer isn't tunneling. If they are tunneling it probably won't save you.

    The dishonesty of it all.

Killers tunnel because it's the path of least resistance to a win. Not because it's necessary. Not because slowdown is nerfed. Not because of anything else. Simply because it's easy.

I'll always find it funny how mad this makes people despite it being objectively true.

If you want the easiest win as the killer you find the survivor who isn'tthe best at looping and immediately tunnel them out. You do the same for a second survivor. If they haven't done 4-5 gens yet you've won. Either a 3K or a 4k guaranteed. Uncoordinated solo queue players cannot deal with the tunneling. And tunneling the weakest links requires the least skill expression.

And there's nothing wrong with that. If all you care about as killer is getting as many wins as possible in the easiest way then by all means do so. Yet so many people get mad if you don't give them a crown and call them the best killer players in DBD history.

Comparing teabagging in a video game (since the early days of Halo) to slurs is quite a leap in rationale that I didn't think I'd see on the forums. 💀

I don't understand why people get offended at teabagging and I say that as someone who doesn't even teabag unless I'm actively bm'd to in the first place.

Even as killer, when I see a survivor teabag me... Guess what? They're losing distance to teabag me. If they're at the exit gates teabagging, I go around and kick pallets or just go stand around to be on my phone - it's literally 2 minutes of my time out of the entire duration the match was.

    Put down the Necronomicon

  • In every single multi-player video game with a customizable character the players will choose to build that character around enhancing their strengths and covering their weaknesses.

If its purely for anti face camp why is the range 16m and not smaller? 8m is enough distance to guarantee an unhook, whats the extra 8m doing on there?

Me thinks the range should be reduced to 8-10m.

So you just wanna spend the entire game sitting 16m away from the hook until somebody comes to unhook for your free hit and think the entire game should be altered to cater to how you play?

  • I saw a twitter thread in which people suggested that if a survivor goes so long without being chased/touching a gen they automatically start getting AFK crows that wont go away unless they start touching a generator or get into a chase.

What aspect of an asymmetrical game makes it so different that you can't punish people for intentionally ruining games?

    1. You don't need your team to win. Self explanatory. A win for a survivor is not when all 4 people escape, it's when that individual escapes. Their death does not determine your outcome.
    2. You have to prove intention. In a game like League of Overwatch proving the difference between an unskilled player making bad decisions and a player intentionally throwing a game can be difficult. It's a job entirely on it's own. You probably think this sounds simply and easy in your head but actually take the time to think about the logistics of responding to a reported player and concluding they did in fact die on hook on purpose in a way you can prove it.
    3. It's not against the rules. Dying on hook is your means of forfeiting a match. You decide you no longer want to win or cannot win, and therefor choose to die. You can do that as you please.
  • The developers have stated that the immunity to flashlight but not flashbangs during a locker grab was an intentional choice. Bully squads had the ability to hold a game hostage by simply having two people enter 2 side by side lockers and whichever locker the killer grabbed from the other would hop out and blind.
And with 4 flashlights with batteries, Felix's Built to Last, Haddie's Residual Manifest, and Nea's Streetwise you could keep this chain going for so long it was impossible for the killer to do anything unless they had already been running lightborn.
This does not apply to flashbangs.

Sorry you got 4 outed by a bully squad on coms who used flashbangs to save their teammates from lockers. Better luck next game. Womp womp.

  • The fundamental issue with slugging is that it's a selfish action in which you choose to make the experience for the other team worse in order to achieve victory.

While slugged you cannot progress the game nor leave the game. Your only action is to sit and do nothing while waiting for somebody else to choose to act. It will always be a negative experience. Which is important to note because there can be fun and joy in losing, but not getting slugged.

So we have the debate of if and when it's okay to take selfish actions that make the game experience worse for others in order to win. Some people will try to sidestep this question with answers like "it's a valid strategy" or "I don't have to care about your fun." However this is never used consistently. For example a survivor could run Distortion, Left Behind, Urban Evasion, Iron Will, and a hatch key and spend the entire match hiding until their team opens the gates or dies. This isn't against the rules, and valid strategy/not caring does apply. Yet somehow the community doesn't use these arguments and instead argues acting like this is shameful and should be discouraged.

Actions like slugging will always be toxic no matter the justification the slugger uses. Though let's keep in mind that toxic is not the same as bad manners nor the same aa game ruining.

Well said. Anonymous mode doesn't cause people to play toxic. This would only lead to preemptive lobby dodging in the chance the killer could play toxic and since people have very different ideas of what can be seen as toxic, this could become a real issue.

In what universe is dodging a lobby a "real issue." People can choose not to play with you when the game isn't started and there's objectively nothing wrong with choosing that option.
I don't care if its a bias or a fallacy or whatever irrelevant buzzwords you wanna quote off wikipedia to tell me I'm wrong. Because I know my overall experience has improved by not playing with anon survivors. And the few moments those games are bad are mostly anonymous killers.

  • @Mooks said:

what exactly do you mean when you say they are toxic and/or rude? And are you sure you do not encounter non-anonymous players doing the very same?

Btw, if it’s against the game rules, you can report it - doesn’t matter if the player is anonymous or not. If it’s just an unfun playstyle then i really don’t think toxic players care that much about having their gamer tag revealed?

Please highlight the part of my post where I said only anonymous players are rude and non-anonymous players are not.
Anyways if it bothers you this much then it kinda indicates that you like to use anonymous mode to be rude and having it called out hurt your feelings.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

That's ridiculous. I'm on PlayStation, I keep anonymous mode on because I can't change my name. I don't play toxic, I just don't want to be harassed or have my name in someone's YouTube video or anything. Judging and dodging players, both killers and survivors, because they use anonymous mode is ridiculous. No one wants to be obligated to turn off anonymous mode just to not get dodged.

I get lots of anonymous killers who play just fine and lots of unfun killers whose names are visible.

You're acting like somebody dodging the lobby when they're see you're anon is some great inconvenience when it's just not.
We're both waiting 5-10 seconds for a replacement, what a tragedy.

  • There's nothing wrong with dodging lobbies.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

This is pure confirmation bias. You focus on those people who are Anon and toxic, but ignore that the majority who uses Anon mode is NOT toxic.

I have also seen plenty of people being toxic without being anonymous.

And yet the toxicity I see mostly comes from anonymous players and dodging lobbies with anonymous has resulted in my games overall being less awful.
