Just saying, even if a key carrier dies a team mate often knows they have a key and will pick it up after them. At least until the new Franklin's existed, there was no way to remove a key from a game. Even now, it takes what, 90 seconds to make the item get eaten up? Even if you try to guard it you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot anyway by giving them 90 seconds of free time, basically like longer global version of DS.

Also, most people with a key won't open the hatch unless they have team mates with them. I have almost never seen a situation where there's multiple people sitting on hatch, while the killer is close enough to go for a grab/kick the hatch closed. The only time was when I myself had a key and hook bombed somebody where I just happened to find a key in the basement last minute and the killer just happened to hook one of my team mates near the hatch (I had no idea it was even there.)

I just personally wouldn't mind hatch grabs being back. It would only really make a difference 1v1 and if it's that close for the killer to grab, it was either mere seconds off from being a kill anyway or it's somebody that's taking the hatch right in front of the killer because of a dumb reason (teabagging on the hatch or whatever.) Not saying your position is invalid, but I just want to bring up that it's pretty rare for a situation like that to happen unless it's very very close.

I've had a LOT of matches where the hatch escape was extremely close. It usually happens when I'm slugged for the 4k and I already know where the hatch is when I go down. I have multiple clips of Bubbas hoofing it to me, only to BARELY miss grabbing me off the ground in time LOL

Other matches I've been in a chase while injured and I'm lucky enough to make it to the hatch as the killer smacks me.

MANY of my hatch escapes have been close enough that the killer would have had an easy time grabbing me.

I think the newer end game mechanic is enough, there isn't really any reason to add the hatch grab back in. If the killer, who has complete freedom to run around, does not find the hatch in time to shut it, that's that. I didn't play DBD before they changed how the hatch worked, but it sounds like the last one alive had a lot better chances of escaping than they currently do now, considering you used to not be able to close the hatch as the killer.

Keys are a different subject but even then, I don't think players bringing an iridescent item deserve to be able to be grabbed out of their escape, but dat just my onion.

Bleeding out is 4 minutes and you can finish the gens on your own like 6 minutes. Not sure where you keep getting 15 minutes.

That's if the killer lets you... I've had games where the farming killer was EXTREMELY obnoxious with the way they were farming. It's completely in the killer's power to drag out a farming match, depending on how your teammates react to it. You can be the only one tight about it and doing gens, and the killer will decide to torture you for not playing along. If you don't like farming, that's probably more preferable- but even then, that depends on what your teammates are doing. Sometimes they just run around spamming crouch and enjoying the farming instead of actually getting objectives done so that you can exit the match quicker.

REGARDLESS, I 100% support a DC penalty. It sucks when you have to endure a game that you aren't enjoying, but that's how it goes sometimes. People who DC make the game worse for everyone else, more often than not.

You don't need to use hatch in front of the killer though. Also, shutting the hatch completes every gen, which isn't very good.

I've had plenty of matches where I've been the last one in the trial alive, in a chase, and seconds from going down when I run across the hatch. I would have been DISTURBED if I got grabbed by the killer at that point LOL

Same goes for when I've found keys- I've had plenty of matches where I've had no choice but to jump in the hatch right in front of the killers face, or I go down.

FWIW, I very rarely equip keys.

And as far exit gates being powered if the hatch is closed, either there is 1 person left with 3 gens done (which just means you have the usual scenario of "close hatch, go back and forth between exit gates") or there are 2 other people left who only had one gen left to complete anyway (and were most likely working it as you were chasing the person with the key). Or you have 3 other people left in the trial and all gens were already done at that point, for the hatch to have become visible. Closing the hatch is not a bad option there, really.

  • If he brought a key then he gets to use it on the hatch if he finds it. You have other counters, such as:

    1. Killing him before the hatch spawns

    2. Shutting the hatch before anyone else can jump in.

Hatch grabs would make keys a bit of a waste... as iridescent items.

I can understand why you don't like multiple people escaping through the hatch but just make sure you shut it before other people jump in. Whenever I've used a key with another person, the killer has decided to whack us instead of just keeping his cool and closing the hatch.

i win because this surv suck if i found nice surv with this rng I would have lost

The problem with that is, there is only a small amount of skill involved with playing a new/different killer, because their powers is different from others, but by all definition, their fundamental structure is exactly the same. You chase, you hit a survivor twice, pick them up and hook them (there are a couple of exceptions).

But once you know how to run the correct path around a loop, which pallets are safe/unsafe, the distance on when you should lunge etc, you are always going to be a red ranked killer no matter how good you are with their power, because that skill remains the same. If you good with one particular killer, you're going to be good with every killer.

Oh I completely agree with that- which is why I do not think for a second that a red rank killer will be put up against brown ranks even if he is playing Nurse on console for the first time ever. I'd be surprised if they even got as low as green ranks. I'm imagining it'll be something like rank reset, where red rank killers will have their new killers default to purple.

Since they're reworking match making a bit, I'm sure it will even end up a little more different, but it sounds like killer locked match making will be the first step before any other match making changes come through, so that's what my thoughts are for what rankings currently are.

  • "Why would I spend money on a premium pass"

    Because

    1. There are more skins than just one recolor

    2. You make your auric cells back

    3. IT COSTS LESS THAN BUYING A SINGLE SKIN

Complaining about a $10 pass is pretty entitled imo, it's a GREAT deal and one may simply choose not to buy it if they are not happy with any of the offerings. I love that I'm able to get recolors of cool skins that I otherwise might not choose to buy.

  • I doubt she'll get a nerf LMAO, people are overreacting to Billy getting a nerf.

If anything ever changed with her, it would probably be iri heads. And if they nerfed that, as much as I hate going up against iri hatchets, I'd like to see them keep that add on but make it completely impossible to override the limitation of carrying only 1 hatchet at a time.

  • 1. New ranking system coming, part of it involves separate rankings for each killer you play as SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO FACE RED RANKS ON A KILLER YOU AREN'T RED RANK LEVEL WITH. This is GOOD because higher ranked players won't be queued against a rank 1 Squadette group on their very first try of Deathslinger, because their Deathslinger will be ranked lower.

    2. You aren't able to switch killers ONCE YOU HAVE FOUND A MATCH because you have been QUEUED WITH AN APPROPRIATE SKILL/RANKING LEVEL, RELATED TO WHATEVER KILLER YOU QUEUED UP WITH.

If you are rank 1 (by current match making system standards) with Freddy/Spirit/etc, do well most matches with him (enough to consistently stay rank 1), etc., and then decide "hmm, I'm gonna try playing as Oni, a newer character that I just bought and have ZERO experience with", you queue up, and match making will search for a lower rank level of survivors for you to verse. You are locked in on Oni because if you get into a lobby of, say, green ranks, switching to your rank 1 Freddy is simply unfair for those lower rank survivors, because the only reason you were queued up to play against them was because you readied up with a lower skill rated killer for you.

Now, I imagine this is sort of a testing period for how they're changing ranks, skill levels, match making, etc. Ideally, there will be a visible indicator of what skill level each of your killers are, and you will be able to switch between killers that are of the same level.

Honestly, I'm not a HUGE fan of the change. I understand what they are going for and I do totally support at least trying this new system out, but I think there should at least be an option to opt out- you'd always play at your own rank regardless of your killer skill level, which means you couldn't try out Nurse without going up against your main's skill level, but you'd have the option to counter pick from Hag in a 4 flash light lobby to maybe Billy or whatever other character you'd rather play as, without being forced to lobby dodge if you REALLY didn't want to play against a lobby like that, you know?

(caps for emphasis, not yelling btw hehe)

  • Why are you complaining when you already won? It clearly didn't matter for you to have a game with one tile having double pallets. I ask because it looks like you're just looking for something random to complain about

But if you genuinely didn't know, like someone else in the thread mentioned, close by pallets only spawn like that when the rest of the map has less than the minimum amount of pallets that can possibly spawn. Which means that there are actually most likely fewer pallets than usual on the map. I tend to only see that/hear about that on Backwater Swamp.

Anyways, no thank you. RNG on how the map is set up helps prevent the game from getting stale and is one of the most pleasing aspects of DBD. On some play sessions I get the same maps/realm over and over again- I'd be disturbed if I had to play Wrecking Yard 3 times in a row with the exact same set up every single game LMFAO

  • I really, really don't get why everything single little thing has to get complained about (not coming for you in particular, OP!). As soon as this perk came out, everyone knew there would be synergy with FTP, but we all know it is situational and even stupidly good SWFs are unlikely to run any build that puts it into play over the typical tried and true build with DS/BT/Unbreakable/etc. It's like killer mains don't want survivors to have different playstyle possibilities. Just do gens, run in dead zones, get hit, die before gates are powered, eat hot chip, and lie.

In any case, the killer played it suboptimally here like others have already pointed out. 8 seconds isn't that much time of endurance AND the person who used FTP is a one hit down for 90 seconds. Even making yourself available to hit the person making the FTP play is an easy way to counter it, since you can't use FTP while injured. I could only see this ACTUALLY being complicated if it was coupled with everyone using the same skin and making it very confusing for the killer to keep track of which person he should prioritize hitting.

  • I always laugh when I see that totem. I even took a screenshot of it once because it just tickled me so much that there was a totem just blatantly chilling out in the middle of nowhere.

That map DOES have some decent hiding spots for totems, though- not super SUPER great, but the ones that get tucked away in the little junk crevices can be hard to find every now and then. Otherwise, that map is mainly just good for getting your Haunted Grounds cleansed

  • LOL I wish you had a screenshot of the gen auras. It's such a humbling moment when you realize you've 3-gen'd yourself HARD.

  • @LethalPugy said:

They should increase the amount of gems to be done or survivors dead.

Its 5 gens for everyone now.

Its 4 Gens for 3 people and a Dead Guy

Its 3 Gens for 2 Alive people and 2 Dead people.

And the rest don’t matter. If they made it

    Endgame collapse for everyone.

I feel like the amount of commitment and pressure would mean less people would want to try and SWF 4 man hatch it.

Wait I'm kind of confused. If a four man SWF wants to do a key escape, all five gens have to be done. When I play 4 man SWF we pretty much only bring a key if we are having a problem that night with EVERYONE bringing a mori and tunneling off first hook with it.

Also, it's my opinion that as long as iridescent moris stay the same, keys unfortunately should stay the same. I have had the satisfaction of completely dipping with one other teammate after we carefully did enough gens (3, if just 2 people left) to make it out against a tunneling, first hook mori'ing killer. I feel bad using a key against a killer who has played fair the whole match (but if my random teammate in solo queue gestures to me to follow them and then they open the hatch, I'm NOT staying LMFAO I'm GOOOOOONE), but it feels VERY nice to deny someone being annoying with a mori those last two kills.

OTHERWISE, I'm not a huge fan of keys. But I don't think they are THAT big of a problem. Killer side has bs, survivor side has bs. That's just the nature of this game, the way I see it.

From my experiences. Xbox has a younger audience. PS4 is more competitive. If you play DbD on the switch i’m terrified of you.

LMFAOOOOO the Switch??? I play there and it's an awful experience gameplay wise, yeah 😔 when I play with some of my friends they get mad if someone puts on an Ormond offering (frame drops out the AS*!&@*#!!! Same goes for a Spirit match- I really hate going up against Spirit on switch because of how few frames you get)

I've been rank 1 for months (survivor side) and the games are pretty fair- even when I end up going agaisnt green ranks, everyone tends to play a really fair and fun game. Not EVERYONE, ofc, but it's wild how civil and well behaved the killers are when they can't even really be shamed in a post game chat for playing "dirty". I don't play killer much, but the survivors are usually decently well behaved, too. There's BM from both sides, but no flames get fanned in the post game chat. We just hold grudges and mori each other when we INEVITABLY see each other again in the killer role LMFAO

I'm pretty much planning on switching to PC in September, but I honestly will probably still end up playing on the switch pretty often after cross platform progression and cross play are fully implemented. The little Switch DBD community is just too cute to completely abandon, even if the sole reason for its abandonment is for vastly superior performance.

  • As a survivor, I count a win as 2 or more people on the team escaping, even if I wasn't one of the people escaping. A VICTORY is when all four of us escape after a close game with the killer 🙂

Other than that, I'm not TOO concerned with "winning". One of my most enjoyable games ever was running Sabo, Breakout, Dead hard, and MoM with a styptic agent medkit. It probably was a ridiculously annoying match for the doctor, but he did end up getting the 4k (on Haddonfield, no less). Being able to run fun builds successfully (by that I mean, not going down immediately, and hopefully getting the expected results (multiple people wiggling out with sabo/breakout, MoM activating, getting a double pallet stun with Any Means Necessary, etc.) at least once or twice is considered a good time to me, even if I don't personally end up escaping.

As killer, it honestly depends- I don't play the killer role too often. Obviously a 4k is ideal, a 3k is almost as nice, and a 2k is alright. 1k and 0k feels yucky BUT if that 1k happens to be the most annoying survivor on the team, I DO feel better LOL

  • No it doesn't, if you're having trouble with taunting survivors who won't leave, open the gate yourself.

A survivor's ability to delay opening the gate doesn't prevent you or any other killer from speeding it up. I've had games where a killer downs someone close enough to the gate that they open the gate themselves, hook the survivor, and Blood Warden goes into effect. I've gone against Pigs who get one last trap on a survivor before the last gen popped, they opened the gate, and easily secured a couple of kills at the end because they couldn't get the trap off in time after getting unhooked with the EGC already going on.

  • I personally have a fairly easy time getting 32k on Doctor. Well, depending on the team, that is. Malicious and Devious almost always get maxed out for me, and then Sacrifice is of course dependent on whether I 4k or not. Chaser is also pretty good, usually.

But I haven't played more than a couple of games with Legion so I can't really comment on him haha

  • Bro I feel like you were the nurse I went up against the other day with these three Neas on Midwich. Probably not but you have a twin who talks and thinks just like you out there who also plays Nurse :0

Anyways, there IS a gen upstairs on Hawkins and almost every single game I play on Hawkins, someone DOES go up there to pop that gen ASAP. It's a bad gen to go out of your way to patrol but it's not a bad idea to finish a chase up there. I might suck at running but if I'm already injured when I go up there, I struggle to stay alive for very long. The vaults and pallet up there can kind of suck.

Is Nurse your only character? She seems like a bad choice as a main unless you have hours and hours of time to dedicate to learning to her :/

Questions with obvious answers get... obvious answers...

Camp if you want dude, have fun doing it, just don't expect to get a good emblem there.

  • It's to discourage camping the hook.

  • I wish they'd consider adding a "pick one" sort of option- imagine if you could choose in settings whether you struggle traditionally, or have skill checks.

I would choose the traditional button mashing, not because I like it, but because there have been multiple times where I have prematurely stopped struggling just to give the other last survivor the hatch. Removing that ability will take out a little bit of the game for me that I will really miss. Nothing like suiciding on hook so that the last person can escape against the Iri hatchet mori-off-first-hook Huntress 😚

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/174746/slight-suggestion-to-nerf-exit-gates-please-hear-me-out

Yup it sounds great, the whole 99ing gate thing just destroys the point of EGC, and hence also destroys blood warden. I'm still not sure why it wasn't removed when even fog whisperers have suggested the same idea you had.

But I guess their fog whisperers are marketting tools rather than a platform for us to reach out to them.

It doesn't destroy the point of EGC- the point of the EGC is so that survivors can't stand around endlessly taunting the killer after winning the game. There is finite time they can remain in the trial as soon as one of the door opens.

It's fair for survivors to have a counter to Blood Warden. If you really want to make a Blood Warden play, open the gate before you hook the person you downed.

I don't like the idea of regression because then that makes it much more difficult for a single survivor or even 2 survivors to get the gate open, considering the killer can chase you off the gate. Chances are that a single survivor won't be making it back to the gate after being chased off the first time, but you DO occasionally lose the killer in a chase from the exit gate and you don't deserve to have your progress on the gate lost just because 99'ing the gate prevents Blood Warden from going into effect.

I love Head On as a survivor, wanted to buy it asap when I bought the game. At that time I didn't know you had to to stay in a locker for 3 seconds to get a stun lol It's the only downside for me. Oh, not the only one. The other one is servers. When you press space quicker than the killer but they grab you anyway and don't get stunned. FeelsBadMan

And as a killer I move backwards and forward, trying to outplay those in the locker but in 9 cases out of 10 they stun me anyway 😥But when I try to do the same, I jump out of a locker too fast because the killer moves away.

I currently mainly play on the switch version, and whewwww, the amount of times I've been grabbed AFTER inputting a rushed locket exit is disturbing 🤢 I stopped running Head On and put on Dead Hard so I could have the same problem with a different perk LMAO

  • I doubt PGTW will ever get changed, as a survivor main I do see it as a balanced perk. You have to win a chase, successfully hook, and then make it to the gen you want to hit before it gets finished to pop it. PGTW promotes good and fun gameplay, no matter how irritating it is to have your gen instantly regressed by 25%. And now there is a perk that directly counters it, so anyone who really has a problem with PGTW should just run Repressed Alliance (or whatever that new gen blocking perk is called)

  • Slugging for the 4k is very annoying LMAO

Like ok, I get it, and I've done the same in my own killer matches before (if the team is annoying or I REALLY don't want the useless blendette or urban evasion NEA to get hatch before I know where it is) but you bet I'm crawling my little slug body away to prevent the killer from getting any hook points if possible. If I waited this long for you to find the other person, I can wait another minute or so to finish fully bleeding out without rewarding you with extra points 😭

  • Ok. You had a single bad match. Isnt it great that you got a free 4k the next match?

Even as killer you're not going to have a fun and great game every single match, just like I won't either as survivor.

I highly doubt you often have matches with multiple people running Object, anyway. (Unless you do, then, truly my b for assuming)

    in OoO Comment by CheyeneKL
  • Not every killer in the game has to be top tier. Just like how every perk in the game doesn't have to be top tier. People run No Mither when they want to challenge themselves... Clown himself is a challenging killer to win with. Not a perfect comparison at all, but you get what I'm saying

If he got anything done to him, I don't think they should change the bottles, especially when you factor in add ons. I'd be interested in him getting something else in his kit (like how Demo doesn't just have Shred, he also has his portals, and Freddy has multiple powers, too).

Maybe he can have a clown car that works like Billy's chainsaw. He zooms across the map and any survivors he collides with are instantly downed, because they got ran over by a car. And then he gets to load them into the car and drive them all to hooks. Everyone fits because it's a clown car. The end.

(JK but that would lowkey be hilarious)

  • I feel like 99% gates is a fair counter to some killer perks (Blood Warden, NOED [so you have time to search for the totem and possibly save teammates before EGC leaves you too little time]). If a killer has a particular problem with survivors taunting and just not leaving, he himself can open the gates. Same goes for activating Blood Warden and cutting off time for saves with NOED.

That also would be an unnecessary nerf to solo queue players- I'll 99% gates for the randoms on my team and then try to go to the other gate and do the same. That way, they have a better chance of getting out if they have trouble getting to the same gate that's already open or close to being opened.

True but with DS and BT you need to forget about safe unhook because you dont care you are sure the guy you unhook is safe the only thing survivor need skill for is the looping part of the game otherwise survivor is brain dead in my opinion

Honestly, if the killer has shown that they're going to endlessly circle the hook, heavy proximity camp, and run back to the hook immediately after getting the unhook notification, I prefer to wait until I hear at least a tiny faint terror radius. Especially if the hook is in a bad spot where the injured survivor has no resources to prevent getting smacked, slugged, or hooked again- the endurance effect is very valuable and gives the survivor a chance to get to a better spot to not go down immediately.

I'm not even hating on tunneling here- it's a strategy, but it's also completely fair for survivors to have counters to that strategy that isn't just letting their teammate die with 4k bloodpoints.

If the killer has shown that he has more things to do than keep going back to the hook, then cool- I'll go for the safest of unhooks and we will run off into the sunset to go heal or something before jumping back into the game.

And regardless if you think the only skillful part of survivor is looping, running away is a huge part of the game, anyway. Most players will come into contact with the killer over the course of the game and if they're not skilled at running/looping, they're going down, and that's that for them there

  • @batax90 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1457687#Comment_1457687

I can agree on the looping part killer need to learn how to counter that too. But survivor dont need to know when to do a save they have BT and DS that make them skip that learning phase

This game is so grindy that most people don't get those perks for a while. By the time they have both perks unlocked/teachable, they already know how to do something as simple as a safe unhook. Most new players go for Claudette levels of self-preservation perks first.

  • You think survivor is that easy? LMAOOOO

I get the feeling you haven't played survivor at red rank against a good top rank killer.

Besides the fact that you have be a good survivor yourself, you have to hope and pray that your teammates are also good survivors. Even with a 3 man SWF with players who are very competent and more than decent, a single random on the team can completely screw the team over into an easy 4k for the killer. Red rank is rife with people that have you saying "they really let anyone into red rank these days, huh?"

People claim silly things like “Otz is average” because they’re under the bizarre delusion that it’s possible to get so good in DBD they never lose.

Its simply not possible. Even the best of the best will have bad matches. It’s refreshing to see players like Otz, who is indeed a damn good player, share with the community that bad matches happen regardless of skill and experience. If anything it kind of reflects how much more balanced the game is now: all 5 players stands a fair chance.

Thank you for your comment, that makes a lot of sense. Also explains the attitude of some of the people in the forum when it comes to how DBD matches can go LMAO

Otz seems to me to be an incredibly good player; really smart, lots of hours in the game, good mentality and attitude, etc. But even then it wouldn't make sense to me that he could beat every single good team of survivors every single time he came across them. And that doesn't take away his skill... this game has so many random elements, anyway

  • "Spirit: anyone with headphones"

    LMAOOOOOOO

I actually googled something like this the other day. I was curious after someone called Otz mid at playing killer- I was surprised as I thought he was considered to be at or at least near the top for killer mains.

I come from the smash community where it is very easy to see who the best players of the game are. But I realized it can be very hard to know who the best at DBD is- not everyone who is exceptional at the game will be putting content out.

  • If you're getting hit by 4 DS, that sounds like a personal problem LOL

Good thing it was probably just that game and doesn't usually happen like that for you, eh?

I myself don't tend to equip DS unless it's rank reset (lower rank killers tend to tunnel more) or I'm playing with lower rank friends (since there is equal chance that I'll get either red rank (fine) or lower rank (more likely to get tunneled))

DS is fine. Just because you don't like how it CAN be used doesn't mean it needs to go away. It's a clutch perk for when a killer really just wants to ruin your game, and even then, it just delays the inevitable.

  • Like a lot of people, I love playing as Feng Min. She's my only P3 character with all the perks (minus Steve+Quentin perks) and I like how pretty her DLC outfits are, so that's why I main her LOL

I usually run BT/dead hard/inner strength/random other perk for fun

    Sometimes Resilience/Dead Hard/Iron Will/BT

  • If I feel like a "gg wp" will come off sarcastically, I might add a little ":)" or make it a "gg wp, king(s)! :)"

the smiley face can come off a little sarcastically still, but I think calling the killer/survivors king(s) helps show your good intentions.

It's not the most gender inclusive but as a female I definitely jokingly call my girl friends king on occasion and I've never been bothered when I've been assumed to be a guy through the internet, either. But I guess you could say kings and queens when you verse a squad as killer

  • Ok but like... how many 3k and 4k games did you have before you ran into the McSweat Brothers??? Are you mad that sometimes you run into teams that are better than you or decided to use their annoying items and offerings on you?

Cause when I run into a Huntress with iri head + iri mori, a Myers with aids add ons, a tunneler with a mori + sandbagging teammates, I'm annoyed but I actually realize that I'm not going to win them all or even have the best time and that there are games that will be better.

  • Do killer mains expect to win every single game?

Playing against a group of good survivors is demoralizing if you get waxed and disrespected, sure, but like... it's ok to accept that you're not a top tier player and some of the survivors on the team are probably better than you as the killer.

You obviously aren't getting SWF teams every single time you load up a lobby... take your L like a man and go. I'm tight when I get finessed by a lobby of good survivors when I play killer, but like... it's all good because I know that the next lobby I get, I'll probably wax them LMAO
