Why should we stop abusing keys when killers refuse to stop abusing tunneling, camping, and NOED. If one side gets to abuse stuff the other side should too

Stop with the buts and ifs. It solves nothing. One problem at a time.

  • I believe it should have a cooldown after unhooking a survivor. That way it can't be used aggressively. It doesn't have to be absurdly long but just long enough that you cant have 2 people running around with BT active. Plus many weaker perks already have a cooldown so I don't see why bhvr won't touch it other than all the people who would throw a fit about it.

  • Really cool! Imagine if he went "SCREEEEE!!" whenever rushing.

    Where did you hear this?

I disagree massively. They are not looking to achieve actual balance long term. They seem like they’re trying to keep the balance they have now.

Last year they fixed all of the broken windows. Now if you saw the other thread about groaning storehouse you can see they brought the window back. A lot of the maps have stronger windows. Then you have meat plant and its thousand god pallets.

The fact that they reverted the map balance so hard shows it was an intentional decision to greatly increase the safety of maps for survivors.

Now they want to nerf freddy who isnt even that strong, ave clown an update that barely increased his strength, want to take away huntress exhaustion hatchets. Nerfed pyramids chase massively even though again he couldnt compete against a good swf

Whatever happened last year they obviously decided it was too much. This is the level of balance they’re trying to keep. They do not want actual balance.

I’ve been facing a lot of swf with toolboxes and bnps recently. I went against one yesterday who was streaming. They spoke a different language so i couldnt understand what was being said but I was playing Twins and it was interesting to watch back because someone here nailed it the other day. There was 4 people chilling and laughing and joking all hitting gens, meanwhile im having to work my butt off just to try and stay afloat. The game really is designed to be casual and chill for the majority of players and sadly that means swf. Killer has to suffer so the rest can have a good time. Thats how the game ks balanced. Except its stupid because I only won by camping, tunneling and slugging (I was twins) and played off their altruism. So in the end I dont think anybody had a good time. The game is not balanced around 4 survivors all doing the objective. Its designed with plenty of spare time so that survivors can chill, raid chests, chase the killer around for 2 mins with a flashlight, go moonwalking etc when all 4 are together in a swf and have the combined focus of wanting to do the objective the game breaks.

If you can't keep up with them then stop playing. Also good advice for this game is to not give a ######### because this game sucks.

  • Remove breakable walls and address the ridiculous amount of pallets on meat plant pls bhvr.

  • Killer tier list based on their stinky feet.

  • Because long term the game is hoping to achieve actual balance. So, having too many S tier killers would mean that the power paradigm would shift from survivor to killer. While, yes killers should be oppressive and stronger, they shouldn't be so overwhelming to the point where you cannot do much against them.

  • I think if done correctly Springtrap would be horrifying. Imagine if he has a charge ability where he runs at you and all you hear is thudding while seeing that thing charge at you. It may sound scarier in my head, but the way I imagine it leaves him with lots of a potential.

This western world society is pure madness.

Ppl are now fine testing things for companies without being paid.

Do you know htat beta tester was a job some years ago ?

And now you beta test things for the developers while it's you who have paid the game lol...

When the game is free, you can't say much and accept, but you have bought Dbd...

BHVR apologists are all over the community. People still consider it to be a "wittle innowcent indie compwany uwu" when it's obvious BHVR is taking a more corporate approach to DBD now. Can't wait until an actual competitor comes along so they have to actually try.

Unfortunately, to get a Fume Knight skin, BHVR would not only have to get licensing rights from Bandai Namco, bu they would also have to convince Konami to let Pyramid Head to have said skin. Which is very unlikely.

And to get a Bloodborne Chapter, they'd have to deal with Sony. So, probably not happening.

Also, none of the games are horror. So, the likelihood of a Souls' chapter ever getting in is basically zero.

I'm confident that if we get a FNAF chapter we can maybe squeeze out a boobborne chapter.

  • @NomiNomad said:

100% Honest, I would prefer Father Gascoigne. I feel like he'd fit for a chapter better. Bloodborne does have more horror themes than DS2 did.

    Or... You know.

Imagine how ######### cool an Arorias of The Abyss chapter would be. Dusk could be a Survivor and everything.

I will extort konami into giving us a fume knight skin for pp head!

also yes gascan would be a great addition for a werewolf killer.

Deathslinger has counters. While yes you would never be able to dodge a quickscope shot in any real scenario being shot isn't a death sentence itself. There's still the whole chain breaking mechanic. Not to mention Deathslinger can't shoot through solid objects unless there is a hole.

You can say Deathslinger doesn't have many counters, but saying that he has no counters is just a lie.

Yes, but the chain breaking mechanic isn't reliable since the survivor really has no say in if they get hit or not, so he can pull you around pallets and some cheeky lunges. Although I do agree saying that there are "No counters!!111" was pretty poorly worded on my part.

  • This is more of general survivor advice but do these things:

    *Fake vaults

    *Use connected tiles

*Don't be too immersed, stealth is good to use but only at critical times.

*Be nice to the killer and they may be nice to you. (don't try to be their friend but play respectfully)

These tips may or may not be useful

  • From a technical stand point, Slinger is the strongest in the game, considering he literally has no counter outside of his limited range. But that requires you to be a complete master with him to be true. Being able to judge shots, the distance of reeling and so on. Huntress is a little more simple with an arc to account for, and she doesn't have to reel in survivors to secure her hit. So for the average DBD killer, I'd say Huntress is stronger. But for a god tier Deathslinger main, you literally lost the second you loaded in.

  • If the chapter launches in a stable state then BHVR will have my love back completely. A bit of a shame we didn't get a map for this chapter because I LOVE its aesthetics!

  • @gendoss said:

Oh but I bet you're against survivors using DS and unbreakable, right?

What does that have to do with any of this?

  • He's still weak and boring so I'd say no.

  • Hex: Cooldowns

Whenever performing a basic attack gain a 2% haste for 3 seconds and block all nearby pallets/vaults for 3 seconds. 180 second cooldown.

  • No because she doesn't take any skill outside of basic killer skills. There's nothing spirit specific to learn with her. It's literally just audio tracking which is something all good killers know how to do.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

Much better idea, they will make it a hex totem with a 60/50/40 second cooldown that blocks windows when you hit Survivors with your basic attack within 16 meter range for 15 seconds.

Hey, where have I heard this one before?

  • Where does it say this?

If you are really a Pyramidhead main than BT should mean nothing to you.

Yes, but when I play other weaker killers i.e Pig, Legion, or Myers, I do feel the pain. Not being able to do ######### while people get free saves is painful to watch.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

GTFAway from the hook, problem solved.

So what about when people farm in front of your face? Am I just not suppose to punish the team for making bad plays? Yea, sure I can get a 1 for 1 most likely, but now there's a survivor with invulnerability. Plus if that survivor who traded is on their first hook I don't get as much pressure as I would with being able to slug the farmed person. BT rewards bad plays while sometimes helping to prevent face camping.

  • @TransverseCaster said:

So the Bubba wants to remove BT? The one killer known for face camping and multi-killing off of hook.

    Predictable.

The name is a meme. I'm a pphead main.

  • The thing about re-working killers is that you kind of ruin the game for people who already liked their power. I don't think legion needs a full re-work but more of just a few number tweaks and deep wound being buffed to be more scary.

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1821497#Comment_1821497

And my problem with that mentality is....

Why are you concerned with the survivor who was just unhooked? Why are you chasing this one survivor instead of going for the unhooker? Also, my issue is....why are you even around the survivor who was just unhooked? Were you camping the hook? Were you patrolling the hook? Didn't your BBQ show you where other survivors were? Why are you so concerned about this, one, survivor. Why not the rest?

If 1 is dead, then the game is practically yours. If 2 are dead you shouldn't be stressing, and if 3 are dead then just wait out the timer, camp their body until they're forced to use their theoretical Unbreakable.

I don't understand killer's infatuation with going for the unhooked survivor instead of the other 3 on the map. If the unhooked survivor is going for a gen, who cares? So are the other 3, or the other 2 that you aren't going after.

Punishing a bad unhook creates a ton of pressure. DS+UB makes it so you cannot punish the survivor for a whole minute. No matter what. All that the perk combo serves to do is guarantee an escape for bad survivors.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

I'm sorry, is your issue that the same survivor with Borrowed Time got two unhooks in a short period of time? And you want to take away his Borrowed Time?

I mean, if you are hooking Survivors SO FAST that you can't keep up with all this unhooking it sounds like you are doing pretty well for yourself.

Well yes that is true, but also if you have someone rush into the basement while carrying someone then that's free saves. They did nothing skillful or tactical to get those saves other than run a perk. The same thing for body blocking applies. You can't do anything except hit that survivor who most likely has DS as well. Sure they have to mend, but 12 seconds of downtime while everyone else is doing gens isn't very impactful on it's own. Too many perks in this game reward mindless plays and I think a lot of frustration/unhealthy gameplay comes from that.

  • @Nazia said:

Is there a dev or community manager who will acknowledge the bugs?

Leatherface's movement is massively slowed down when you first use his saw.

Legion's frenzy is bugged and he moves at 115% movement speed during frenzy.

    And Billy's saw randomly overheats.

I know this has been reported, I know this has been told to the devs but the usual white knights appear and try shut down anyone who brings up actual problems with the game.

"B-but BHVR is a small 2016 indie company!! They can't do anything wrong!!"

I do mostly, but I think this stuff is bad for the community. We lose a lot of Players who seek greener pastures, and that is a shame. While some of us are jaded or have thicker skins, many good sports and potentially good players just don't want to deal with this garbage at all. We lose them because of it. I don't like that. I've seen some good posts where people point out that it might be a good idea to get some distance and perspective before speaking. It is that old saying, "it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." I just have to wonder, and perhaps this is getting old syndrome, about how ethics and good sportsmanship is taught today, or if it is taught at all. Am I just some antique who wants to say dumb things like:

"Back when I was a boy I had to walk through snow storms, uphill to school and back BOTH ways!"

I'm not trying to look at things through false, rosy-colored glasses of nostalgia. But I am concerned that ethics and good sportsmanship aren't really leaned into anymore. Manners cost nothing, and yet people don't seem to want to use them.

That's just the internet. There's no reason to use manners because you're probably not going to meet that person again. I'm not saying it's right, but this is the reason many people are so ######### online.

  • Who cares? Ignore the toxicity.

  • Why? Survivors now have an even stronger item than the killers do which is something that should not happen. Killers should have control over the match and keys are so strong because they remove that control. Also the nerf is probably the laziest and completely defeats the point of a mori. Moris are suppose to take survivors out of the game fast. A much better change would've been to make it where after 4 hooks the mori activates. That way it doesn't carry bad killers but also gives survivors a fighting chance while still being dangerous.

  • @Almo said:

This requirement will stay. There are things we don't want, like someone going into dying state due to a Bear Trap with Honing Stone triggering stuff like Surge. The alternative to the basic attack requirement is making exceptions. For example we could say Surge works for Demo Shred, but not Trapper BT/HS. Now every time we add a new Killer, we potentially have to through and update every perk with these exceptions. It's just not a maintainable design with the vast amount of perk/addon/power combinations available.

Since every Killer can basic attack, we can create the perk, and know exactly how it works with every Killer without having to check a ton of different interactions. If this means some perks don't work well given some Killers' powers, then that's just the way of it. Not every perk is exactly as useful on one Killer as it is on the others. Learning to choose your perks well to synergize with your chosen Killer is one of the important skills in DbD.

I have heard it said that this answer means we're "lazy"... that we're not willing to "do things that take work". Whole programming languages and paradigms have been based around preventing the same thing in code as we're trying to prevent in design with this strategy. You don't want a ball of yarn of a design where tugging on any little thing pulls a whole ton of others.

In a game as complex as DbD, there will necessarily be some of that. But minimizing it through smart design is still a worthwhile endeavor.

But why not make exceptions for perks like Surge? They're already not very good and have tons of requirements but making it so if you play the killer effectively you can't use a perk just seems more problematic than a few scenarios such as honing stone Trapper. NOED and Stbfl are some I understand the need for, since an instadown feral frenzy Legion would be dumb. But for the others it seems like an unnecessary hinderance. One of the biggest complaints people have with the game is the fact that most perks are useless due to too many requirements and too much situational reliance. This one feature being removed would be a huge buff across the sea of bad perks.

  • It's all damage control. The reason dbd does this is because there's nothing to compete with them, so they know as long as they make it seem like they care then maybe the playerbase will put up with it.

  • It's just a ploy for the fog whisperers to shill for the game. By giving them the codes fog whisperers numbers increase and in return they say "dbd is good :)))". That's the idea behind it at least.

Ahh, the classic "CAMPING AND TUNNELING, REEEEEEEEEEE".

Just admit to it, you can still easily get gen-rushed if you spread the damage. Numerous videos of streamers getting 2 hooks on 4 survivors have only lead them to their demise. 1 kill and "Brutal Killer" in the match lobby.

If you spread the damage and still lose then you played wrong. "Gen rushing" isn't a thing, it's just a failure on the killers end to apply pressure and while, yes effective teams can minimize that pressure with their efficiency, shouldn't they be rewarded for doing so? If you have all 4 survivors injured and legitimately can't snowball doesn't that mean they're playing better? Sure a few maps like Haddonfield and Midwich where chasing and pressuring is tough can be harsh, but outside of that then no. Learn to admit that you played wrong and then improve. This is just general life advice as well. Don't whine, see what you did wrong.

  • It's entirely possible that feng has played or at least knows who pyramid head is lol.

  • Whaaat?? BHVR released something buggy and incomplete??? No! They would never do that!!

  • Until we get better quality DLC, I think they should honestly lower it. Think about it. 20 bucks for the base game and I think almost over 100 to buy EVERY DLC. Then take into account the time to grind for the perks and the ingame shop with the rift. DBD's monetization is horrible for it's quality.

A killer can't engage in a long tense chase at red ranks because it will cost him the entire game. Hell, one timely dead hard from a strong looper will cost him the game

Yeah but when they're about to get a down they just leave. It's so damn weird.

  • I don't think I'm going to even buy the chapter since it's incomplete.

  • The only one I disagree on is PH. Whenever you hear his grunt when going into POTD just cut corners wide and don't be predictable. If they fake it then you can tell by listening for the dragging noise (which is bugged rn but this is assuming the game works like normal). Outside of that don't step into his trails unless you think you can loop him long enough it won't matter. Never choose dying over being tormented because I see a lot of survivors do that for some reason. Also don't unhook your teammates while in his terror radius. He doesn't know where the surv is until they're unhooked. His biggest strength is his ability to take people out of the game fast. Which ######### your whole team, so PLEASE DO NOT UNCAGE SOMEONE WHILE IN HIS TERROR RADIUS.
