Cool for you just wait till you get 2 dumb teammates who are doing nothing and then you are gonna understand why some people give up when they see what cards they got out of the solo que
The people giving up at every little inconvenience are the stupid teammates that everyone is talking about.
-
I enjoy Scratched Mirror Myers, but if losing that is the cost of being forced to the same few maps almost every game, then that a price I’m willing to pay.
Players shouldn’t have that much control over which poorly balanced map we end on, and it needed change for the overall betterment of the game.
Myers is a poorly designed Killer, and needs a full rework anyway.
-
It’s better than it was. The few matches where the situation you described happens is lot lower than matches where people would give up just because they got hooked first.
It’s not perfect, but I’ll take it over what we had any day of the week. -

They need to be basekit for dead on hook people who have been stalked particular amount of time and the addons themselves should reduce the stalk threshold for the kill
Yeah, I like this approach. The only issue I see with it is some people tunnelling for an early Mori. I’ve seen Pyramids do that by only hooking the first person to get infected just so they can kill them after the second hook.

They are doing something and have stated it won't be cosmetics.
Good. Going to P100 requires such a mindless grind, that actually going for it shouldn’t be incentivised. It would only punish players who play multiple characters.
-
That’s going to cause queue problems for the less popular Killers. For overturned Killers , I think that’s a small price to pay, but it’s a bit unfair for players who want to play mid or lower tier Killers who people just don’t playing against like Clown, Knight, Legion and Skull Merchant. Playing Skull Merchant in her current state is punishment enough lol
That said, I do really like the idea on paper. -

Self-Care and Botany is my favorite combo.
It’s pretty good if you need to body block for a teammate getting tunnelled. Take a hit to give the teammate time, quickly heal, rinse and repeat.
-
Yeah, a lot of the more recent Survivor perks require you to waste so much time that any strong effect isn’t worth the time you weren’t on gens or taking chase.

The Botany 20% penalty was scrapped yes, but the inherant 33% medkit penalty is still there.
Oh, right. Gotcha.
-
You’re always going to get losers like this, but things have generally improved since the ability to unhook has been removed from base kit. I’d prefer it wasn’t left in via perks and offerings, but I’ll take what good BHVR actually manages to pull off.
-
Yeah. Whenever I use a build for a long time, then stop using it, I really start to feel it’s absence.
I had to play perkless in the week leading to the Masquerade, and had a blast, which kinda highlighted for me how much handholdy perks can do.

Botany counts for all healing, self and altruistic, with and without medkits.
Self Care and Botany are multiplicative, and in DBD, bonus are added up and applied before penalties are added up and applied.
The full calculation for Botany and Self Care is:
- 16 charges to heal, which is normally at 1 charge per second. 16c ÷ 1c/s = 16s.
- Botany applies +50%, which now becomes 1.5 c/s. 16c ÷ 1.5c/s = 10.67s.
- Self Care reduces Self Healing to 35%, which becomes 1.5 × 0.35 = 0.525c/s. 16c ÷ 0.525c/s = 30.48s.
A medkit is also affected by Botany, but has 33% less self heal efficiency and 33% less healing speed. So for medkits the calculations are:
- 16 charges to heal, medkits consume 1 medkit charge (mc) for every 0.6667 of charges healed on the survivor (sc) (ratio of 0.67:1). 16sc ÷ 0.6667 = 24mc.
- Charges healed on the survivor remains the same though. 16 survivor charges to heal, which is normally at 1 charge per second. 16c ÷ 1c/s = 16s.
- Botany applies +50%, which now becomes 1.5 c/s. 16c ÷ 1.5c/s = 10.67s.
- Medkits reduce Self Healing to 66.67%, which becomes 1.5 × 0.6667 = 1c/s. 16c ÷ 1c/s = 16s.
You can follow the same process for anything, e.g Strength in Shadows is at 70%, so SiS with BK = 16 ÷ (1.5 × 0.7) = 15.24s.
For healing, just do c ÷ c/s = s.
Any other thoughts on Botany UndeddJester?
Wasn’t the hit medkit efficiency scrapped in the last patch?
-
I don’t think so, but we absolutely should get compensated.

I’ve experienced less problems from my teammates since the anti go next went live. The most unfun aspect of playing Survivor was having my team give up at the most minor of problems, and turning a perfectly winnable match into a premature loss. Hell, it was a problem as Killer too, because facing a kneecapped team is boring.
The anti-go next system isn’t perfect and could use some touch ups, but it’s a million times better than having teammates ruining games. -
I’ll hop on a gen. No point hiding.
I used to just let the Killer kill me so I can move on to the next match, if there’s to many gems to do. I tend to just get slugged for the 4K, so I don’t do that anymore. -
I have fun by 8 - 12 hooking. No tunnelling, no camping.
Sometimes I’ll leave things at 8 hooks based on how rough it was for the Survivors, or if they brought shared BP offerings or the Survivors or cute.
But even if I decided to proceed to Kills, I’ll still spread hooks out as best I can, and if that costs me the match, so be it.
I get very little toxicity when playing like this too, as a bonus. That said, if I end up against a really good team, or a flashlight/stun squad, I’ll go all out. Kinda. Still never gonna tunnel or camp, but I’m not going to ignore someone I’ve hooked if they’re all I find.
-
Honestly, they should just run back the last nerf. Her problem was babies going next. Now that that has mostly been resolved, her Kill Rate should stop getting artificially inflated.
Maybe she wasn’t the most fun to play against, but nerfing isn’t the solution to that particular. Hopefully the push back on the recent Clown and Knight nerfs will cause BHVR to reevaluate how they approach the “not fun” problem in the future. I doubt it, but hopefully. -
I’m happy with the Franklin’s nerf on paper, but it really should have waited for the remaining items to get a rework. At least, they need streamlined add ons, similar to what the new/reworked items in the upcoming patch. 5 add one that each buff one aspect of each item would be a lot easier to balance, I feel. Add-ons in general need streamlining in my opinion.

Its a great change that hasn't changed anything at all in regards to slugging. I'm genuinely convinced everybody is lying about slugging because they don't want to be moried. I have seen almost no slugging whatsoever. Maybe about 1 in 15 or 1 in 20 games on average. Devs even posted stats saying slugging is rare and people flat out reject factual stats.
I play both, and I've definitely noticed the increase.

Or they can do what they want.
I mean, yeah, no one can stop them. The rest of us can still think it's pretty cringe to go all out on an opponent who isn't trying as hard as they would be normally because they're distracted by the event, though. Especially since it was their whining during last years Halloween event that resulted in the split lobbies in the first place.
-
If you're doing it on first hook, you a butthole.
But yeah, I think their are some valid reasons not to want to hang about these days.
-
Fair points, but Killers should still get to chat in the pre-game lobby if they want to.

Once we have taken over Dead by Daylight, we shall take over the world!
How? You won't have aura reading IRL.
-
Survivor has just not been the most fun like any event. You have the toxic Killers that slug, tunnel and camp as hard as they can, but I've learned to just deal with that. It's the people who are treating this as normal that bother me. Like, after complaining all last year about not being able just play normally, they're not just ignoring the very thing they asked for to interfere with those of us just trying to engage with the event.
At least as Killer I have the tools to slow down any sweaty Survivors. Never had an issue with BM, personally. Not as Killer anyway. Had a Sable said she hoped I got tunnelled because my name was "Only doing pumpkins". Ended up being a Pig with no interest in hooking lol
-
I'm mostly just frustrated at people treating the event lobby like it's the normal one. Like, dude, I'm not even trying, how is this even satisfying for you?
With Killer, I can bring some slowdown perks so I can focus on the event, but I've had three Survivors matches again a Dracula that tunnelled someone out, two of the were me.
I just got blocked out of playing any game with Easy Anti Cheat for over 24 hours, so I've been looking forward to get back into things, and this was what I come back to.
Like, the split lobby exists because these people whined about not being able to play a normal game last year, and now that it's hear, we still have to put up with them.
Outside of events, though, I'm mostly fine. The good games, even ones I lose, outweigh the bad ones with tunnelling, slugging and general BM.
-
It's funny, because these kinda thing isn't that uncommon, meanwhile I haven't been able to accesst Dead by Daylight and other games with Easy Anti Cheat for 24 hours just because EAC has decided it doesn't want to open so I can repair it.
Wait, did I say funny, I meant infuriating.
-
I keep getting this message when I start the game.
I've tried everything that has been suggested in other threads and nothing has worked and even a factory reset has done nothing.
I don't know what else to do.
-
Any luck with this? I started getting a EAC Client not instantiated before getting the boot, and like I can open Easy Anti Cheat to actually repair or reinstall it. Worse yet, I think my attempt to fix it using old solutions found in "Solved" reports have made things worse, since I can now no longer play Fortnite either.
-
Until there are ways to communicate in SoloQ what pallets you've used up, WoO can't go anywhere. It's wouldn't even be necessary if BHVR kept bridging the gap between SoloQ and SWF.
-
Pumpkins are random how much they give. Some give 2k, some 500, some 25.
-
Usually I would give myself up to the Killer if it was just two of us, so my team mate could get hatch and we could all move on, but now I daren't risk it because the chance that they'll just slug me for the 4K has increased.
-
That would be more love for Sam than the Tomb Raider devs ever gave her, so, I'm down for it.
I also want her classic outfit, though. A proper one, not whatever the hell that is in the store right now. I'd take her edgy Angel of Darkness look too. Modern Lara's outfits kinda bleed together a little.
-
You're thinking to small. Haunted by Daylight should be a PVE Co-Op mode, where Survivors try to fill the Well with Void Juice, and Killers defend them from roaming Haunts that target Survivors.

I feel like Ethan might be kinda hard to do without showing his face, here.
Then again, BHVR figuring out a way to make his face permanently shadowed could be interesting…
He has a fully modelled face. Capcom just chose to be weird about it in Village. They should just use that. It was silly to hide his face in cutscenes like that, so I'd rather they just drop it.
-
Ethan for Leon, and the outfit that makes Rebecca look like Faith from Buffy are what I want.
Also a Santa outfit for Nemesis, that gives Misty and the other Zombie Christmas Elf costumes.

Just have a ten minute long screen where bloodpoints go up and you get event rewards at the end. Same thing, and equally dull.
This community is ridiculous with how they want to police how others play. People can sweat if they want. People can chill if they want. It does not matter. Event elements are made to complement and hook into the normal gameplay loop and they do it pretty well.
How's this then?
No hooks, no gens, but Haunts roaming the map, and the Void, hunting Survivors.
Survivors need to get Void Essence from the Haunts to put into the Well, but have no means to actually fight them. Or if that doesn't work, have Plague pools with Void Essence in them or something along those lines.
Meanwhile, the Killer is functionally their bodyguard and fights the Haunts so they they drop the Void Juice for the Survivors to collect (or just to protect them)
The Well slowly depletes, and the team needs to either fill it, or simply get it as high as they can before a timer runs out.

Yeah but thats what a really low chance? Also if the killer really cared they would just bleed you out if theres no hooks in range. Just a silly reason for the OP to want to skip the objectively faster option.
It's still a chance, though. That's always going to preferable to zero chance. It feels cheap.

This is far from a busted or obvious mechanic and you’re being melodramatic.
- Survivors can still see the dying survivors aura to navigate towards them in the void. They can still help them recover.
- If the Killer is hanging out in the void with the slug, that’s free time on gens. And survivors have a handy tool to obscure their movement that they can access while the Killer is standing on the slug to try and make the pickup safer
- If the Killer abandons a chase to re-enter the void if they see another survivor enter it, then that’s less pressure on the rest of the survivors, increasing their efficiency
I will agree with it seeming odd that the Survivor can’t exit the void while in the dying state.
I'm not talking about the void specifically.
In this events case, it's the complete lack of cooldown on the haunts. Literally everyone else would have pointed out the need for at least a small cooldown, and the fact that remote hooking in the Anniversary even made it past conception is baffling. Remote hooks felt so unfair I would walk to the hook before using to feel less cheap.
All these issues would have been incredibly obvious if BHVR play tested their games more.
The Void's issue is that you're expected to engage in it at the expense of doing objectives, and if you're opponent is just playing to win, then you have to either ignore the void or throw the game. Again, obvious problems that would should have been picked up ages ago.

@AssortedSorting said:
Maybe it didn’t cross their minds.
Perhaps they could leverage the hatch interaction conditions (from a technical perspective), if they’re looking to reuse code to allow survivors another interaction method while in the dying state with the Void Portals.
It should have though, and too much stuff doesn't cross their mind already. Too many busted mechanics get through the cracks during these events, that any one of us could have said was obviously a terrible idea.
They need to playtest these things more.

It works well if you do the Even things and not just play a standard DBD game. Pumpkins give 20 for trick, 500 for normal and 2k for treat with arcane. In turn a gen complete for even is 3k.
Your opponent has to let that happen. Killers can actively prevent you from engaging with the event if they want to, and most Survivors seem to just want to end the match as fast as possible. Optimizing BP on both sides has been a bit of a pain.
I've been head trapping one person at a time as Killer, and just ignoring gens completely as Survivor just so I have a chance to actually engage with the event enough for my liking.
-
That's not not an issue with Anti-face camp, it's an issue with Nurse not being suited to DbD, and BHVR refusing to do anything about it.
-
@Brimp said:
You would unironically spend longer going to the hook, getting hooked then through the sacrifice animation than being in a mori.
There's a small chance they misjudge, and you break out and bumble onto hatch. That's still something. Once the Mori has started, the game is over for you. I don't want to watch the Mori again. Even Knight and Ghostface's get old after a while.
-
I feel like the problem is that it's just the regular DBD but with side quests. Side quests that are very hard to engage in if anyone is focused on ending the match as quick as possible. If gens pop to fast, or a Killer just constantly interrupts your attempt to engage with the event it ends up feeling like you may as well just play the normal mode.
-
For Haunted by Daylight specifically, I was thinking instead of kills/escapes being the goal, it's filling up the well. Still keep hooks/unhooks, chases and gens as a means of gaining void juice, but remove the death states. Have the well slowly empty, and all 5 players job is to fill it faster than it empties with the reward being based on how well you did keep it full.
Obviously, this is just something I pulled out of my butt, but I think the vague idea has merit. It would justify having two queues at least, since having two now is just splitting the community for very little.
Christmas should just be a big snowball fight. Make it 4 vs 4, even. Either Killers vs Survivors, or have both teams mix and match. Or all Killers?
-
I had to buy a month of Game Pass to even access this and it's a measly 4500 shards. I'm genuinely pissed off.
I'm bouncing between fuming anger, and almost laughing that BHVR is so greedy they couldn't even make it an even 5K lol
It's mostly anger, though. I didn't even want to make the jump to Steam in the first place, and only did so because DbD (plus other games) runs terribly on Game Pass, meaning I really had no choice if I wanted to keep playing.
