  • Would've been smarter & more special to do like you said and release the new character on a 6th anniversary update of the game.

  • If they really want this garbage map & they were smart about it, they would have the old version as Haddonfield I and this one as Haddonfield II much like there are multiple Springwood maps. I would eradicate this new one though because it's beyond bad & ugly. Whoever designed the older maps must have been fired or just left BHVR because the new maps just suck & favor one side (lately killer) too much. Older maps always favored a side, but it wasn't as much as this disaster or the Artist's map. I had really good survivor & some good killer matches on the old Haddonfield and it was even more evenly split on maps like Hawkins.

  • It's absolute trash. They ruined one of my favorite maps. I thought they would just fix a few loops that were real ######### for most killers but they totally ruined the map. Garbage & ugly as hell now!!!

    Hi again.

Actually no, I'm not. I will elaborate, however I don't think we will ever agree because we see this game's "point" very diferently.

From your statements I can surmise that you not only consider that the only fun in playing DBD is always winning, but that you actually think only 4k stompings are a win and that any killer that cannot 4k consistenly is a waste of time.

This is why I suggested that for you, and you in particular, the answer to your chagrin would be to master either of the only two killers that can do this consistenly.

Personally I consider 3ks a nice win, though I have, for some time now, stopped getting 4ks and 3ks even when I can. I almost always let at least 2 survivors go and I enjoy my trials very much. For instance I have been playing Harpoonslinger recently and, though he is slow and lacks map pressure (probably because I still have it at lvl 17) I just have a lot of fun playing turkey shot with the survivors. So much that I actually forget about everything else and just keep shooting at people until suddenly all gens are done (when did that happen?) or everyone stops moving (whoops)

So no, I did not imply those killers are pointless. Only for you.

Thus, try nurse or blight, those will give you what you want to have fun IF you have the skills. If you find you cannot master them, well, I sincerely, non-confrontationally, unironically suggest you do find a different game that allows you to enjoy it.

Best of luck to you and may you nurse blink always strikes true. And first!!!

Actually no I don't. As survivor I don't care if I die, as long as I get to do things in the match like a generator or 2, cleanse totems, get some heals & unhooks, etc. As killer, I'm fine with 2k or 3k matches too, but what bugs me is why make certain killers unfeasible for getting Red 1 killer rank? I'm a Michael main and if I want to play solely as him for a "season" to try to get to Red 1 rank, it won't happen because he's too slow & against some of the better players and SWF teams, it would take him too long to get enough kills to get control of the match. Meanwhile someone like Pyramidhead is a lot more versatile & reliable to get that Red 1 rank if a player would stick solely to him. Just his cage of atonement (if you get survivors to walk on his trails) bypasses the need to pick up & hook survivors which turned out to be impossible in a match I had on RPD a couple nights ago when I was trying to take a Yui to hook and couldn't move her 10m without her wiggling out every time. Not to mention his built in mori that he can do after a survivor reached the 2nd phase and is affected by his trail.

I think killers should be balanced more so that if someone wanted to solely play as any one of them, they could get that Red 1 rank with whoever they like best rather than have to use killers they don't like/enjoy as much.

  • I have no doubt anymore. A few hours ago I had a match where a Bill was following me wherever I went. I worked on a totem & he hid in a locker next to the totem as I cleansed it. I went to the basement to get an item from the chest, he went down there too. There were 2 Megs as well. Eventually the killer (Hillbilly) got Bill & hooked him, I unhooked him and he hooked him again about another minute or 2 later. I went for another unhook, this time sticking my neck out to take a hook for him and everyone just let me there to die on my 1st hook. The 2 Megs hadn't been hooked and just left. Same with the Bill. The match ends & everyone has 1 or 2 perks max and all yellow tier---clear as day that they were beginners/Johnny-come-latelies whereas I am Red 4 (and been stuck there because this ######### game can't give me team mates on my level like it did up until a month ago so I can have someone who has my back when I get hooked).

It's clear now why they're hiding the ranks of players on the post-match screen---they want to withhold how obviously bad the matchmaking is and how it's matching experienced players with novices and they don't want that visual to be seen by the players, despite how obvious it is from our match experience we're getting lately. Before this started about a month ago, the only way I remember experienced & inexperienced players played together was either in custom matches or if an inexperienced player was friends with an experienced player and was part of their SWF team, which was the case with me when I got into DBD back in 2019. From then until a month ago, all my solo matches with random players were within the vicinity of my own skill level. That's clearly not the case anymore with the solo queue.

As of now, the solo queue of this game is pointless and I won't waste my time with it anymore. It's fruitless for me to try to get Red 1 again when I'm being matched with players who don't know how to play the game and let their team mates die on 1st or 2nd hook and then mostly die themselves as a result because this is a team game & the more team mates die, the harder it gets. If this is the way DBD is going to be, then it deserves to die rather than sucking more players in & wasting their money. I'm utterly disgusted.

  • Well it took them a while to talk about the DDOSing that happened, so just because nothing was mentioned by them doesn't mean there were no changes.

I find it very suspicious that the survey was posted right around the time when these issues started.

I played at all hours of the day before and play at those same times now and it's a night & day difference. I don't see how it's possible that suddenly everyone's schedule changed. The people I watch on stream play DBD at the same hours and the people on my friends list play at the same times mostly too (though a lot of them stopped playing entirely). A UK streamer I know even posted a video on his Youtube about changes to the MMR right around that time and he pretty much solely streams DBD (well he's gotten sick of it now & is switching to Rust) and wouldn't have pulled that out of his butt (meaning there had to be a reason he said that).

  • Then it's completely pointless, especially with the way it works in that you have to use it up when you don't even know if other players will bring a map offering and how you lose it even when no map offering is brought by another player in a match where you use the sacrificial ward.

They really need to change it so that unless a map offering is brought, the SW is not consumed and returns to your inventory. The same with map offerings that don't win out when multiple map offerings are brought--those that don't end up taking you to the realm they represent should be returned to the player(s) who threw them in. It's very dumb & unfair to dock a player of a map offering that didn't end up sending them to the represented realm when that player may only have 1 of those offerings and needs it for a challenge. The one exception should be if only 1 map offering is brought with no SW brought & the match ends up taking place at another realm (very small chance of that happening but it happened to me before). In that case I say have it consume anyway because there's no guarantee that it will send you there (says "tremendous" not guaranteed). But the losing map offering(s) when 2 or more are thrown in should be given back.

Going back to the SW though, with how low of a chance there is of throwing one on when a map offering is played, they need to change it so it prevents you from going to that realm. Otherwise with the odds being so low already that you use it when a map offering is used plus with it not preventing you from going to that realm makes it almost useless & not worth spending bloodpoints on or wasting as an offering.

Nah, its no coincidence that players who main their character for years have fine matches despite being called weak.

I have yet to see that against a SWF team. It probably does happen, but it's the exception to the rule and not the rule itself.

  • @DyingWish92 said:

The problem is so many the killers have nothing to deal with the pure BS that is the maps in this game. The maps are so unfair to most of the killer roster. I don't know why God pallets are a thing in this game or loops with no mindgame that the killer HAS TO break the pallet. Its stupid and negates the ability of the killer player to play the game. Feels so babyish towards survivor players.

At this point I think the best thing they can do besides trashing the MMR system and returning to the way it was when ranks were numerical & your rank didn't reset back to Rank 20 (or Ash IV as it is now) where you could also derank, is letting killers break finished gens to extend matches and allow survivors to attack killers. One of the dumbest things of this game are loops where you have to waste a good minute or 2 chasing a survivor around to injure & hook them while a good 2-3 gens are getting done by the rest of the team. Just imagine a horror movie where that happened and how how pathetic it would seem. Or add a perk that lets killers break undropped pallets. When you only have 5 gens until escape and loops that waste a good amount of time, it becomes pointless unless you play as Nurse & can blink or have some projectile or range attack like Pyramidhead's or Huntress's.

  • @Tiufal said:

Or youre just not good enough with those killer, but i guess that can never be the case. sigh.

No, it's no coincidence that the best killer players who have played this game for years main killers who are not weak. There's a reason a lot of killers are being buffed.

  • Here is a screenshot of the post match screen of the SW incident (you can see there was only 1 Mary's Letter played when another 3 were needed to send us to Midwich after a SW is played):

    image.png

  • Something definitely happened because I never got randoms in the solo queue like I have in the past month. In the past I made it to Red I and now I can't get past Red IV because I keep getting survivors who just started playing or who are just bad. I used to get players who were around the same experience as me who were able to run some nice rescues with me. Now, I see them having like 1 or 2 yellow tier perks and just staying on gens when 1 or 2 survivors are down and/or on hook. It's not just me from the 40+ people I know who play DBD who noticed this.

As a matter of fact it happened right around the time they posted that survey.

EDIT: Another thing I forgot to mention is the amount of the players I'm getting matched with who dc when the killer downs them the first time (or even injures or spots & chases them) has gone through the roof over the past 3-4 weeks. It makes it pointless to even play in such a match especially when the killers these days do not play nice like killers of the past did when one of the survivors dc'd early. Being down to 3 players in less than a minute or even 2 minutes in is a huge handicap. When this happens and I'm the next to be hooked, I just end up killing myself on hook because there's no point and there's only so much of that I'll take until I abandon this game once & for all. So thanks a lot BHVR for ruining this game even more than it's been ruined.

  • @Chaos999 said:

Sorry to see you are not enjoying the game. Maybe you could learn to play nurse or blight so you can win consistently, or perhaps try a different game where you can win every time?

It's really not worth it getting angry over a game

You do realize that you're implying that all the killers that have little chance to get a 4k against better players are pretty much pointless in the big picture, right? Which means DBD is mostly a waste of money because it mostly contains killers who may be fun at the beginning when others don't know how to play against them, but afterwards just collect dust & are useless against better survivors & SWF teams. And the ironic thing is that rather than fixing the long standing issues of the game, BHVR just focuses on adding more mostly useless killers who will in the long run be worthless against SWF teams. The purpose of adding all those weak killers is defeated.

  • There is no reason why survivors shouldn't be able to pass through other survivors in this game. The most toxic thing I've ever dealt with in this game was a p.o.s. Claudette player who trapped me behind one of the open doors of the Lery's map when I found a hex totem there (like they occasionally spawn) just about a minute or less into the match WHILE THE KILLER WAS AFK THE ENTIRE MATCH. The scumbag stayed there until the endgame collapse and even died on purpose just so I would die. My game ended up crashing before the death animation and I lost pips and got a temporary matchmaking ban plus lost my items I brought and lost a free chance to get a challenge done that I had active & would've finished had the scumbag not been blocking me so I could leave as soon as the last gen was done & gate was opened. The crash would not have happened in-game had they not blocked me and I was free to do gens & get out (barely happened even with them blocking me and me not having done a single gen). I took multiple screenshots of that incident throughout the match and included them in the report of the player, who deserves to be banned for life for crap like that. I have no tolerance for crap like that when I & many others who deal with toxic crap like these situations are patrons of this game.

Why is that even allowed to happen in this or any other PVP/collab game? Why is there no option to pick up and move players who are idling or just pass through them? The player in question wasn't even AFK because they were spinning in place and pointing back at me while I was motioning at them to move.

  • Last night I played against a team where one of the players had perks that made it impossible to transport them to the hook. I couldn't even move 10m before they wiggled out and I picked them up like 4 or 5 times in the match. Trash game. A few months ago, I had BOTH AGITATION AND IRON GRASP on and I was barely able to move a Feng I was playing against on Dead Dawg a few meters until they struggled out multiple times.

It's just a crap game that's dying with all the streamers I know who either mainly or solely played this on their channel who are moving to different games because they're fed up. The MMR and entire game has become #########. It was not anywhere this bad when I started playing. Had it been like this then, I would've abandoned it or better yet never bought it because it was streams of friends playing DBD that made me buy it and all my friends are fed up with the style that these johnny-come-latelies have been playing and the perks that have made playing killer be pointless. Especially the boon perks that allow survivors to infinitely bless the same f'ing totem over & over again. Go play a killer match on the Temple of Purgation map and see how fun that is when they keep blessing a totem down in the temple's bottom floor.

  • Good luck. I hope it works if you try again. He's fun for me because I like the strategy of placing his traps & trying to get the survivors to step in them.

  • Strange, I unlocked it on Steam in October without any problems. Could a corrupt file be causing it? Sometimes I verify the integrity of the files, but I think the game automatically does that whenever there's an update, so it shouldn't be an issue.

    image.png
  • I wish I could but I have enough problems just running the game on my laptop with the crashes I already experience (trying to stream it would probably cause massive problems).

I know it happened a bunch of times to me. I follow it, then the trail pauses and I look to see if it continues in another direction and I just don't see it continue. It's possible that with the low res & missing frames that I miss it sometimes, but I don't know. I wish it was easier to see because even when I do successfully close the glyph it's usually not easy to see and pretty easy to miss. With all the other things the killer has to do in a match, you'd think they'd make following it a bit easier considering the valuable chase & gen damaging time you lose following the slow trail.

  • Sometimes I follow the glyph trail and wait where it stops and it just doesn't appear. I even check to see if the trail continues like it does a lot of times but it doesn't when this happens.

  • Strange. What platform do you play on? It worked for me on Steam.

  • Ah damn, that sucks.

  • I always thought the Grim Reaper from Spookies looked awesome and he would be another cool one to have if they ever wanted a classic Grim Reaper/Death killer (video below is timestamped at the proper part):

    https://youtu.be/B4dtPCo1P1Y?t=149

  • Tall Man would be awesome. Another one I'd love to see is Herbert West from Re-Animator.

    Untitled Image

I know it would never happen the way I'm about to describe, given the way the game is set up & the changes that would need to be made, but it would be awesome if instead of hooking a survivor, he could switch the head of a survivor with a zombie or something and turn that 1 survivor into his partner for like a minute or until another survivor revives that re-animated survivor, who for that "zombie" period would then have to help the killer and would be able to attack other survivors or perhaps sabotage gens so that working on them would regress them. And after that time period is up, that survivor would go back to working against the killer. And just like hooks, the 3rd time a survivor would be re-animated, they would die.

Man, I would love like an 80's movie DLC pack of killers with Pumpkinhead, Tall Man, Herbert West (who traces back to Lovecraft's novel, but 1st appeared in that 80's Re-Animator film), Malachai from Children of the Corn, the spider lady from Spookies, Ghostbusters Terror Dog, and more.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddXYVwViNYc

That spider lady in DBD would bring my childhood nightmares back haha.

  • When I did Cripple Them All I had to pick them up while they were still trapped without downing them for it to count. Unlike the daily rituals which only requires them to step in your traps to gain progress.

  • Yeah I'm hoping so, but it'll probably be a while if it happens at all. I heard of a remake movie in the works, which I probably won't like given my history with remakes, but if it brings the Pumpkinhead IP attention, I'd be for it. The Rob Zombie Halloween films were the last ones to have been made before DBD was released but it was the original Halloween timeline/reality that made it into the game, so I'm hoping something like that happens with Pumpkinhead as well eventually.

I used to play Survivor exclusively. But it's been a week I'm enjoying the Killer role and... Now, I understand.

I don't tunnel/camp tho, but I see the reason some players do. One chase can cost you two/three generators. So... A second efficient chase and everyone's out?

It's hard to really have fun when you have a couple of hooks at the end of the match because the group was efficient with the resources they have. One person per generator, the guy who is chased looping good... I love to chase! It's really fun! But I see that if I want to rank up, and get the highest reward possible at the end of the season, I have to kill a minimum.

I guess most players don't tunnel/camp for fun, but for efficiency and making sure they can get a +1.

I agree with what you said, especially with how a chase against a good looper can easily cost you 2-3 gens.

Yesterday I played against a Legion who from the start of the match camped everyone he hooked and he thought of himself as a great killer & thought he won the match when 2 out of 4 survivors escaped and technically all 4 of us would have if the 2 who made it out would have healed before trying to unhook me & another hooked survivor after the last gen was done, which never happened (I think one of them may have swapped places with the other hooked survivor). It was pretty ######### and I even recently went against a Wraith who camped every hook and it was pathetic for someone to need to do that with Wraith's speed.

As someone who plays both survivor & killer about equally (probably a little more survivor than killer) & who uses most killers I currently own as I alternate between them (I am a Michael main though), I think the best solution is if they add a perk or general core mechanic that would let killers break finished generators so they start regressing, perhaps with entity claws for a min or 30s where for that duration they regress without survivors being able to stop the regression until after that time period is up. Maybe have it be only available to killers who don't camp hooks or tunnel, which would require tracking those playstyles. Camping should already be tracked now because I know it affects bloodpoints when you camp a hooked survivor. Tunneling might be trackable currently as well by whatever sets off Decisive Strike. I'd even suggest having it track camping & tunneling throughout the match so that if a killer decides to start doing those late in the game, they would be blocked from breaking completed gens for the remainder of the match.

It would definitely give killers more incentive to break gens and would extend matches so that gen rushing is countered without camping or tunneling. As killer I really don't like camping or tunneling because I play survivor and know how infuriating it can be, but also because it's boring. Hunting down survivors is way more fun than staying at the hook or going after the same survivor over and over until they're dead.

Anyway, I'm just throwing an idea out there.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/316250/can-we-have-a-2nd-possibly-3rd-ormond-map

Yes to all except any freezing power which acts as slow downs on survivor movement. I'm all for an add-on or similar power where you can kick a gen and it "ices it" meaning gen progress speed is reduced by 50%/60%/70% for X amount of seconds.

I think the freezing & slowdown of survivors could work if done like Freddy's dream snares with a hindered effect or like Trapper's traps, where the survivor is stuck for a bit but could break free before the killer reaches them. It would have to be balanced of course.

  • @C3Tooth said:

Clown & Nurse share the same realm without being related to each other (as Spirit & Oni share Yamaoka realm)

I hope they will have a killer that share Ormond realm.

Same with Huntress & Plague sharing the Red Forest realm (Huntress has the Mother's Dwelling whereas Plague has Temple of Purgation).

  • Moving ski lift would be awesome but even if that can't be done, I'd be fine with a 2nd map with a stationary lift/gondola.

  • I think the one change with No Mither should be that it should be hidden from the killer HUD much like hook counts are now. Maybe have it appear on the HUD once a survivor with that perk is downed for the first time.

  • I have a lot of lag issues with her on PC as well. Then again I have a lot of lag when playing killer in general on my laptop. Sometimes frames will just cut out and skip and a survivor I'm chasing appears a few meters in front or out of sight. It really sucks. I despise Unreal Engine. Spirit is probably the worst though when it comes to lag. I think she's probably not optimized.

  • Did you pick them up as they're trapped or slug them into dying state & then picked them up? Because you're supposed to pick them up without slugging as they're still trapped or else you don't get credit.

  • I think it's a dumb idea for an achievement and this is coming from someone who is currently at 29/30. It should count finding survivors and going to them to heal as well, which requires more effort & risks you exposing yourself to the killer than just staying in 1 spot and letting people come to you. It is especially easy for people who are SWFing and are in vocal communication with other survivors and tell them where they are, which sucks for those of us who mostly play with randoms (like me). It also causes people who are achievement hunting to play selfishly and not work on gens if they just camp and wait for injured people to come to them. Just a dumb idea, much like basement hook challenges which makes killers use scummy basement camp strats that should not be encouraged.

You know what a better idea for an achievement would be? Opening up that room in Midwich's courtyard that requires you to complete the gens in the music room & chem room (when they appear in those rooms since they don't always do). Or maybe having the player cleanse all 5 totems on a map once (1/1), though with so many using boon perks, that could be a real pain these days. Or an achievement for cleansing NOED totems 5 or 10 times. That would be a good one & incentivize selfless/risky play. Or maybe an achievement where all the 7 gens on a map have to be marked (at various times of course) on a Rainbow Map brought by the player before the exit gates are opened.

The worst achievement must be the Skilled Huntress one where you have to down multiple (I think 20?) survivors from 24m+. As long as I've been playing this game, I haven't even made a single bit of progress in that one. I know people play friendly killer mostly to get it, but that defeats the entire purpose of having that as an achievement. I don't play on good PC hardware (I use a laptop) so I miss many frames and can't even see that far with the res I play the game at. I'd rather have that one be replaced by an achievement where you mangle or apply some other status effect with the Huntress' hatchet add-ons 20 times or even 100 times. The fact that you can only carry 1 hatchet that downs survivors in a single hit and missing a survivor while throwing it at that range is so easy is an added reason why it's such a bad idea for an achievement.

Also Nurse's 500 blinks one is another one that I don't like. Lower it to 100 or 150 or even 250 and it's much more tolerable. Many people hate playing as the Nurse and 500 is just beyond overkill.

  • A friend of mine from the UK (I'm in the US) has a similar issue. When he tries to add me it won't go through but if I join him, there's no problem. We're both on Steam and I don't have any settings preventing others from adding me (console friends are able to do it easily). Maybe it's some kind of server issue?

  • I had this issue too on PC/Steam.
