Queue times are the longest theyβve been for Killers in years. Something tells me that the BT basekit buff isnβt doing much to make people want to play Survivor
Longest ever been?
10-15 minutes is bad but NOTHING compared to Halloween 2019 where i usually waited 45+ minutes to get into a game.
It sucks yes, but i'll take 15 minutes over 45 any day

There's a clear trend regarding recent survivor and killer perks, particularly recent ones. Reassurance and the reworked Off the Record are supposedly META, but they both have meaningful restrictions/downsides that make it questionable if they're even good perks to begin with, especially in solo queue.
Reassurance- To apply its effect, the survivor can't further the objective and actually has to chase the killer. It stops hook progress, gen progress, and the need for game sense on the killer side. This is not a META perk, it's arguably a killer perk. Its positive side should be something that's implemented as simply basekit.
Off the Record- If allows the survivor to tank a hit for 80 seconds after being hooked as long as said survivor doesn't further the objective, again, or engages in team-oriented activities. It deactivates after gens are completed, requires the need to mend if hit while active, and can add an easy stack of STBFL (a real META perk) for the killer, provided he/she is running it. I would perhaps think about running it in solo queue if coordination was in some way basekit and not required by perks.
Dead Hard- Deep wounds again. The survivor makes a good play and it results in rewarding both survivor and killer; extended chase for the former and slowdown for the latter.
There's other ones. None of these perks are that strong. With the patch, longer games aid killers. How's the math work out for solo queue? Three of you go for the unhook, three of you go for the box. Get off the gen to proc Reassurance. Don't the touch the gen to profit from OTR. There's not enough math on the solo queue side. It's all to extend the match which is to the killer's benefit. Compare these perks to recent killer perks, though
No Way Out- A minute of slowdown plus it Tinkers when the exit gate is touched. Meaningful slowdown and the killer's told where to go. As an aside, why do killers still see the aura of the exit gates for the entire length of endgame at this point? Survivor perks deactivate at endgame, where's the "compensation"?
Deadlock- Tinkerer plus slowdown. Generator with most progress is blocked after a gen is completed and the killer is told, "They're working on that one".
Eruption- Slowdown, incapacitation of the survivor working on the gen, and two Tinkerer notifications, both the survivor scream and the yellow aura that tells the killer "You're patrolling this area of the map".
Pain Resonance- Slowdown (buffed since the patch) and a Tinkerer scream. Can also be combined with DMS to eliminate the need for gamesense.
Call of Brine- Tinkerer and slowdown. When a survivor completes a skill check on a gen affected by CoB, it Tinkers and tells the killer "They're on the gen again".
You get the point. "Strong" survivor perks come with meaningful downsides and strong killer perks do two or three things at once. The patch already brought some perks/add-ons as basekit. Couple stacks of Thana guaranteed, tier 1 Brutal, two stacks of STBFL., Compound 33 when injuring a survivor. Add this to the META perks that are two or three perks in one, and killers are playing with 11 perks and five add-ons. This is a balance issue. Thank you for reading.
Hex perks LITERALLY can be deactivated by survivors leaving the killer with less perks. If that is not the biggest downside, what is wrong with you lmao

In the PTB i waited for 40 minutes to get 1 killer game. In the live version i usually wait around 5+ (sometimes 10-15) minutes as killer)
The problem with this is it is almost impossible to get clear data on this game as there are way too many variables.
Im not a good killer by any means. But when I get 2 games back to back with not optimal survivors the third game is me going against 3 thousand+ hours survivors. Most are swf.
The balancing and mostly the matchmaking are the issue. The devs think because you win a few games you immediatly are a god and need to be matched with people who play nothing else than DBD in their life and make it their profession or what have you.
DBD is mostly based on circumstances and unless that changes there will always be long cue times, there will always be games where you either get trashed or you completely dominate the opponent.
-
Some killers feel recycled for sure. Ofc they are different but there are certain categories that limit what they can do.
Trapping,Stealth/Stalking, Infection, Ranged, Teleporting not that much variety when considering a lot of killers do the same things but with some different flavor to them
I honestly just wish that all killers had more ways to play them. Myers for example may be so and so but with his addons there are multiple ways to actually play him.
Doctor too.
But they keep making throwaway addons that barely someone uses instead of letting the addons switch up the powers a little bit.

I'm not talking about crashes. I'm talking about people who hit the leave match button. Theres no reason to not just slap people like that with a 30 min knock it off timer imo. Go take a break or play something else.
Edit: If they crash give them the normal 5 min system. Still no reason to not slap a 30 timeout on people who hit that button in game. Regardless of people going around it. No reason to not have stiffer penalties.
The other day i got disconnected by the game three times in a row. Had to wait every time. Filed a ticket and they can't do anything about it π
-
This post is so unnecessary. The game is 4v1. End of discussion. You don't win by giving survivors a chance and play 'fair'.
You're on your own (as killer) and are allowed to use all means that are provided to you. Excluding cheating. Camping is allowed. Using unfair perks/addons? They are literally in the game to be used.
It sucks but unless they don't change the core gameplay or add new mechanics, this game will remain one big frustration for everyone in the community. Peroidtttt..........!
-
Prolly a survivor main that wrote this in hopes killers get nerfed LMAO
-
I would be excited if the killer ACTUALLY had an UINQUE power instead of a mix between Huntress and Legion. Very weak and unimaginative.
-
Generally dont like it as most of the streamers act like DBD is the only thing in life. Not everyone has to learn the math behind everything in DBD or needs to be perfect some people occasionaly play it and livestreamers tend to be really cruel to other people that don't 100% sweat their ass off every match. Generally the community is a really unhealthy and sad one. One of the reasons i havent been playing for 2 months. I occasionally pop into forums to see if its worth playing again but honestly theres many better things rn
-
He doesn't fit in because his ENTIRE POWERS are rehashed, reworked powers of The Huntress and Legion combined. It's a lazy way to resell the same premise with another design which was clearly targeted at thirsty fans to make quick buck.

I wish they'd fix the game instead of release more unfinished content πππππ

i dont enjoy playing survior (solo queue), and if the game forces me to play as survivor to do the stupid rift that i paid money for it. I will do my mission and suicide so i can get quicker in the next match, when i have only a few hours of free time per day, and i will do the things that i dont like but i am force to, in the most efficient methode possible. So, sorry for ruining some games, i am truly sorry, but speak with the devs to change how the rift works, because i will not play 10 normal games(doing gens, unhooks, chases) to be able to do 15 totems or search 10 boxes, i will do my 2 boxes and gtfo, and dont forget the queue times.
The game doesn't force you to do anything. You shouldn't spend money on the game since it only encourages them to go on. Buying the rift is on your own accord since sou know how it works.
Stop feeding their pockets and they might be forced to changed.
Just my 2 cents

Instead of Reworking killers and pumping out trash DLC every 2 months they should start Reworking game mechanics, objectives and the basics in general.
-
Or you know, go after another survivor? It's really not that hard and costs nothing. Jfc

Grind by Daylight

Had 3 matches against Twins, all slugged and the team went down like flies on purple ranks. I'll just kms next time i face them. Just awful. Especially since all three games took 30 mins to load in :)
God i wish the devs would fix the game and make me feel less bad about wasting money on it.

Your little sibling shouldn't be watching you play a horror game rated 18.
60 % of the playerbase is likely under 18 ππ

Just a question, what times do you usually play, OP? Or what region?
When activity is lower, you tend to get matched with much higher(or lower) ranked players since the matchmaking prioritizes getting a game over not playing. If this wasn't the case then people would go back to complaining the queue times are too long.
You can't really win when pop is low; The happy medium is impossible to reach.
Europe and I play all over. Sometimes morning, sometimes noon/night etc. I get paired with ppl from everywhere. Mostly ranks suck. I also play surv (currently purple rank) and get matched with 3 brown teammates and a brown killer. So π€·π€·π€·π€·
-
@OldHunterLight said:
It was worse before so I will say something that may sound mean but not intended to.
Try to take that as a chance to become better at the game, ranks mean nothing, try learning the basics, moonwalks, mindgaming etc.
Now when you are low rank is the chance to experiment and learn a lot, so what if you lose a match? You can still try again.
I know the basics it still does not matter. I dont wanna be a rank 1 pro killer. I wanna occasionally play and have fun/do challenges as killer. You should be able to play a game without having to become a pro veteran at it.
'Get good' is such a ######### advice. Sorry. I know what to do. Survivors do have the upper hand. They have to make mistakes for the killer to get them.

@jerakal said:
I used to be like you. You can't go into every match expecting to win.
Sadly, because of the community, you can't even go into every match expecting to have fun. It's why I've switched off of killer main, it's just too stressful to have to herd cats, which sucks, because the killers would be fun to play, if survivors weren't all toxic tryhards.
I don't even expect to win- really. I just wanna enjoy the game and not have to sweat every time. That's all I ask for and that honestly should be the minimum provided. The game has been out four years now and i dont have any hope left regarding it getting better. It's a lost cause at this point. Devs and the Company have proven more than once they dont care for the game. They care for the buck. I hope it will be the games downfall
-
Special treatment only for fog whisperers sorry
-
At the end of the day i don't think most people 'care' if the other party has fun otherwise the community wouldn't be so split in opinion about certain things.
-
I see they let 12 y/os
play DBD now lmao
-
No Perks For Survivors November :DDD
-
The penalty wouldn't be needed if they worked on removing the reasons why people leave/ragequit or well in this case, crash πππ
Last October for example i had a full day where a 'network error' in the game kept disconnecting me and other players out of the game. Stop using the excuse that the game is ruined for others when its often the fault of the game itself.
But yeah talking to the devs about issues is like talking to a brick wall.

I'll disagree, 10 quid a skin has been standard in the industry for over a decade.
You also get less interesting skin for lower than that.
10 'quid' is half the price of the game.
Your arguement is invalid
-
If i could refund skins i bought i would. 10 or more bucks for a friggen character skin is just a blatant cashgrab. If they would invest in making the dlc more expansive instead of just new characters and a map by lets say adding a new gamemode or something else to do they'd be better off but obviously people will continue to feed them money. If you want change make their sales numbers dip. The only thing the company cares about. Sales. Not their community.
-
Sad how in a game about survival the only fun thing to do is getting chased by a Killer.. like
does anyone else see the issue with DBD?
-
You can take all the meta perks you like. If you solo que as survivor and your team doesnt do anything you're still screwed. Had someone tell me 'With those perks you can carry yourself' Not if you unhook, heal, get chased 3 mins and then get one hooked all the while not one single gen pops :)))
and yes, that's like 9/10 games i have legit. There are good, wholesome ones. but only about 1/10 matches.

Please, don't give up. When you get against good survivors, take every minute to play vs them. Try to learn moves from stronger opponents. Learn their fakes. Pay more attention to scratchmarks and predict where would they run next. Look for them everyhere, in corners near you and on horison line. Hide your red stain by the walls to give them less time to react, mindgame.
But never, NEVER open exit gates. Try to the end no matter how good they are. Even if you know you don't make 4k, and even 1k, don't give them easy game. You will learn a lot from games like this and there gonna be less hard survivors for you in your next matches.
Teabagging is nothing. Don't take it to heart.
You talk like everyone wants to play this game 24/7 and learn every little detail about how things work. It's just a fact that there are a lot of casual players that dont waste every hour of their life on DBD. Some people occasionally wanna come on and have a good match which often doesnt happen, because more often than not the game is one big bundle of frustrations.
You either invest a lot of time to learn things and be frustrated at how good this game //could// be if any sort of love went into making it and listening to the fanbase instead of corporate greed.
Or- you play ocassionally which means you're okay at it but it's still frustrating because of the many balance issues and rng elements to it.
its a lose loose situation, really.
-
What i forgot to mention is that ridiculous 1 million BP cap. Why is that a thing? You can not even get to level 50 with 1 millon
-
That is about the only reason to keep playing the game aside from what little enjoyment you get out of it. It's far too much of a grind. Would be nice if they could focus on actually making it fun and not take hours upon hours to level up, only to get perks/items you dont want or need.

@Moundshroud said:
I'm neutral on it. As long as the ranges and audibility for the Killers is the same, why should I care? I live in Maine, and I can assure you that real generators are loud as hell. Perhaps they are going for immersion on that one. My hat is off to them for the effort; I think it is a bit ungrateful to complain about something they clearly spent a lot of time on and doesn't (as far as I can tell) affect game play.
I do have Technician as a Perk and I do use it (regularly) and as far as I can tell I haven't had any more Killers finding me working on a Generator based on noise than before.
They spent time on it? Its 3 distinct sounds of someone starting a damn car over and over. If that's the thing they spend their energy and effort on sorry, there is no hope.
-
@KingOfBadRNG said:
No not really at first I was afraid that they didn't add any noise that a generator is being worked on now i could hear it.
Its more of a thing since its really frequent and loud where you can barely hear the sounds of the things they pull and twist on the gen itself.
-
It's really 50/50 most of the times i press dead hard and get downed with exhaustion π
-
Ive been saying all these things since starting playing last year aswell.
The problem is that instead of reworking the core mechanics they keep plastering over the old issues, creating new ones. Bringing out dlc to sell more seems like their numero strategy.
Listen to this:
Almost half if not more of the killer perks existing are perks to fix certain things that would make the game even worse for them. (vice versa for surv.)
(PgTW, which slows gens which wouldn't be needed if gens were reworked, Ruin, Bamboozle because looping, Healing perks etc)
They just put bandaids upon bandaids and created a whole mess from what I can see.
Totally agree with the gamemodes. The game gets stale very quickly. Sure it's always a little different (aka maps other players) but the core thing is rather bland really.
M1, shift, backspace- repeat. (m2 if ur killer, such wow)
Skillchecks are actually Attention Checks, no skill involved except maybe hitting a great one which has to do with reaction time, not skill.
-
There's a lot os asymmetric games on the horizon. They really need to step up their game if they wanna stay top runners of the genre or this game will end up like Deathgarden- buried.
Pun intended
-
Sorry but this whole patch and update and system they introduced the past few days/weeks made the game the least enjoyable it has ever been.
-
Might aswell ask why people camp in CS:Go or whatever π€·
-
@Happysmurf said:
This game has no balance because 99% of the devs focus on cosmetics and making quick $$$.
They think they have a winning formula but in reality once real competition comes out in 1v4 asymmetrical horror, this games gonna be forgotten.
There are a lot games on the rise and i really hope DBD gets is buttocks kicked
maybe they'll start to work on balance then
-
Time to mass hook suicide against Bubbas to send out a message
-
Her hatchet power is alright although i would like her to have a passive ability or something that fits her character to make her more interesting
-
This whole patch is just the definition of making stuff noone asked for
-
Honestly i don't think that's the way to go about things, especially since the game is laid out for casual players.
No everyone's a diehard 12 hours a day DbD player. Or streams it for 23 hours every day.
They should first fix the game so you don't have as many reasons to dc.
-
Grind by Daylight

Survivors recently got a perk to counter Pgtw with Cheryl Mason, the one you can block the gen with. Leave it alone. If we gonna talk about perks that are being used 'too much' what about Adrenaline, Descicive, Bbq Chilli, Dead Hard, and all the other 'crutch' meta perks?
Sorry but if you change perks because people use them too much you should probably question your capabilities of actually creating good balanced perks, instead of just making stuff up to take a step back and cover your mistakes.
-
People really understimate flashlight accuracy addons.
Especially on the purple flashlight as it has reduced accuracy
