  • so THIS is what’s been happening! all of my games have been 200+ ping despite nothing being wrong on my end. ######### how does a bug like this even happen.

  • so THIS is what’s been happening! all of my games have been 200+ ping despite nothing being wrong on my end. ######### how does a bug like this even happen. 😭

  • Same issue here on Switch! Matches are saving but changes made to characters/loadouts are not.

  • i’ve had multiple games where EVERYONE is over 200 ping, it’s ridiculous. i’ve also had multiple games where the server stopped responding literally right at the end of the game when i’m about to escape. all that bp, gone. it really feels like i’m having my time wasted and makes me want to stop playing altogether.

  • @Oputeeva said:

So it's super fast right? Do you have a video? Since without video this report can be declined

you don’t need video if you’re not on PC, but also omg as a wraith main i got really excited thinking this was just a stupid superbuff LMAO. glad it’s a bug though because it gives you NO time to respond as survivor.

  • this has been happening to me as well. i’ll have the prompt available to me but won’t be able to drop it no matter how much i’m mashing the button. there will also he instances where my survivor will literally start the pallet-dropping animation (the “vacuuming”) only for it to be randomly cancelled.

  • Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work? If you’re within 16m of the survivor and they get to finish the 15 second song, you get the lingering bardic inspiration effect for 60 seconds wherever you are.

  • same on switch! i thought there just wasn’t a modifier tome until i saw this lmao.

  • UPDATE since patch 8.2.2: this is still happening, and has recently become more frequent. unless i am actively queueing up or i’m already in a match the game will boot me to the title screen with the same “no network connection” error within 30 seconds of idling in menus. trying to change anything in menus is a chore now as i feel like i’m on a timer and the switch isn’t exactly fast with selecting different perks/items.

New error when trying to load back into the game, requiring a full restart: Session Expired. It says my account is in use on another device when it isn’t. Maybe this is a cross progression glitch?

What's the counter for DH, DS and OTR if you play Ghostface or any other M1 killer? The counter is that you don't play for hooks like a novice.

The only skill issue in this case is being granted god-mode and then acting like you were good at something when the hit literally didn't count.

okay so you genuinely sound like you don’t have that much experience as killer. as a wraith main, another M1 killer, here’s how to counter these perks:

DH: literally just wait and don’t swing right away. many killers have little ways they can bait out DH. you might get tricked the first time, but this was also the case with old DH pre-endurance.

OTR: if you notice they’re not making any injured noises off hook, they have it. either avoid them and go after someone else or wait until they do literally anything. if they decide to do nothing for full 80 seconds for whatever, that is a GOOD thing for you, the killer.

DS: again, either don’t tunnel and go after someone else, or if they’re using it offensively, just slug them until the DS timer runs out. yes, i said slug. because the specific issue i’m talking about here is killers intentionally wasting survivors’ time by bleeding them out because of spite and butthurt. and bringing a perk that very much encourages them do this.

learning how to play around survivors’ different perks and strategies is literally part of this game’s learning curve. throwing a tantrum and bleeding people out is not going to make you a better killer.

as a wraith main, another M1 killer, it’s pretty simple:

DH: literally just wait. with many killers you can easily bait it out.

OTR: either go after someone else i.e. don’t tunnel, or wait until they do literally anything. if they wait the full 80 seconds without touching a gen that is a good thing for you, the killer.

DS: again, just don’t tunnel, or slug them for the amount of time DS requires. yeah, i said slug. because the issue i’m specifically discussing here is killers coming in with the intention of bleeding everyone out for no reason other than spite and butthurt.

learning how to play around survivors’ different perks and playstyles is literally part of the game’s learning curve. if that bothers you too much, you might not want to play this game at all.

  • @Anti051 said:

If there weren't so much punishment tied to hooking then it wouldn't be such an issue. You should probably forget about a knockout rework until "endurance" doesn't swoop in to hard-carry survivors against the weaker killer kits.

You've got 4 minutes to make a difference in standard DbD and no killer-player is interested in getting screwed by god-mode perks that pardon survivor-players from needing to play well for the escape.

You guys really ought to stop ignoring the entire picture just because you think something isn't fun for you.

if you are so wound-up about a core mechanic of the game that is entirely meant to keep all players continuously engaged and move the match along, then maybe you should play a different game? also endurance shouldn’t be such a big problem for you if you know how to play outside of camping & tunneling lmfao (and know the very simple counters to perks like DH and OTR). that status effect is the least of my concern when i play killer. literal skill issue.

    are u serious?

hell fire is so bad, having a long wind up and slow movement speed, and still complain its too strong?

    I've seen it all.

i never complained it was too strong, just a little more difficult to mindgame than other ranged killers based solely on audio. please learn how to read.

  • @Hannacia said:

He does though. He makes this sound of fire starting. I dunno how to call it. I would say he makes more sounds than deathslinger when he's about to shoot. I had no issues of hearing him starting his hellfire attack.

hm, maybe all the draculas i’ve gone against have just pulled it out when i’m too far away to hear it?

  • adding to this: the forgotten ruins map is also extremely choppy on switch right now.

  • UPDATE since the Lara Croft chapter: now when this happens, trying to log back into the game will show a save game error and force you to quit & restart entirely. pls i just want to play without having to be glued to my screen the entire time. this makes playing with friends extra tedious as well. 😭

They warned first thing that the performance on Switch is awful and not where they want it to be but they were going live with it anyway. I haven't even tried the mode on Switch, I used cross-progression to merge Switch with a PC account and have stuck to playing 2v8 on PC. 2v8 only uses free killers.

Sucks they never got the game to a good place on Switch even in 1v4.

ah damn it 😭 oh well. i’m broke af so switch is the only platform i own but hopefully i’ll have enough saved up for my first gaming pc soon! sucks that i have to factor in rebuying the game though lmao.

  • this has happened to me three times in the past HOUR. it happened literally just as i was about to escape and i called it quits for the day. love losing everything because of something out of my control.

  • This has been happening to me all morning. Even while playing a custom game against all bots the servers aren’t stable. Are you on west coast servers by any chance?

  • yeah dungeon navigation has been a massive problem for both killer & survivor. multiple times i’ve had killers who had to slug bc they couldn’t find hooks and just now a teammate went from first hook to death all because none of us could find where the hell she was hooked. doesn’t help that as usual this map is insanely dark & on console you can’t do anything about it.

  • @xoreyna said:

Unfortunately it's not a bug. It was an update that came with the recent chapter release. The basement in particular is ridiculously dark on Switch now.

I wish we'd just get some transparency regarding Switch cross-progression, and if they abandoned it, they'd just tell us and instead focus their priority on optimizing the Switch port. The lighting on certain maps (especially Midwich) and the basements need to be fixed. There's no reason the game should run this terribly on one of the ports.

so it isn’t just my eyes then. maps with higher contrast between light/dark (midwitch/nostromo/autohaven/etc.) have especially been made dramatically darker on switch. i can barely see the killer’s red stain around corners before it’s too late! hope whatever change they made to the lighting this recent update gets reverted. i feel like it’s also affected scratch marks because they’re kind of harder to see as killer all of a sudden?

  • I just left a report about this and it got denied as a “tech support” issue even though there’s nothing we can do on our end about poor optimization. Like thanks guys. 💀

Also the Nostromo map has crazy frame drops, so add that to the list of issues.

  • I also had this while playing Spirit on Switch. Her yell is gone when she swings & the survivors don’t yell when hit.

I don't really know how to describe it but the trickster is positioned wrong in the pre-game lobby and when he's supposed to blink at the player he blinks at nothing. But in a custom game lobby he is positioned correctly. Notice the differences for yourself:

All of the killers’ positions in lobby were shifted to the right when Nemesis was released, presumably in order to make room for the big guy. It’s sad that we can no longer see Trickster’s signature wink, though. :(

  • @Fantasy said:

I haven't come across any issues like that personally. (Xbox Series X)

Yeah, most of the problems with console DbD seem to be exclusively with last gen consoles.

  • It seems to be a problem with all 16 charge medkits, as I'm having the same thing happen to me when using a green medkit. :(

  • I'm having the same problem, specifically with the "last place you look" survivor challenge.

  • this has been happening to me too, nearly exclusively in matches against nemesis, and almost always in the end-game, which is even more frustrating when i’ve been having a great match & know i’ve accumulated good bp. DC penalties are still very much a thing, however, even when you crash, so i’ve de-ranked twice within the past three days.

  • Yes, I know. I was pointing out a specific trigger for these crashes, as knowing what triggers glitches/bugs makes them easier to fix.

  • @Aneurysm said:

Matchmaking is gonna be even worse for a while, some red ranks didn't get reset at all, some went back to 20 etc. They're meant to be bringing back MMR so assuming they do and it works it might be worth waiting til then before getting into killer.

Also this is more forum advice than game advice but treat pointless comments like the one from @NotACompPlayer the way you would some old dude mumbling to himself on the bus, let it fade into background noise

OKAY FOR REAL i basically had to learn to stop making assumptions about skill level based on rank because of the rank reset fiasco lmaooo. i mean in general it’s good to do that, but this last rank reset especially made ranks matter even less hahaha.

  • @GenJockeyNance said:

I agree with the comments above me but I'd like to offer a bit of my own advice if I may.

I'd like to preface this by saying I'm a purple rank killer and I face a LOT of swf. Some toxic, some just really organized and efficient.

Locate the weakest link if you can. These will generally be the ones who don't last in chases or make several mistakes that get them caught. The stronger ones will usually come to their aid by attempting to flashlight save or pallet save (when their friend is downed under a pallet so when you go to pick them up, they can pallet stun you and it releases their friend) which leads me to my next point: they're usually very altruistic. Sometimes a lot of the times, altruism kills. Sometimes I even get a little annoyed when my friend brings their friends in to join us to play because they're overly altruistic and a good killer will take advantage of it when they notice it.

Camping, slugging and tunneling is against survivor code which you should ignore if you want to win and rank up. This generally applies to even non swf matches. I tend to have 2 slugs at a time, hook one so one survivor is at least forced to come and retrieve the non hooked slug and or come for the save which can be a trap if I come back in time for my slug to catch the savior and honestly it can all be game over from there if the last survivor screws up big time. God forbid if you camp the hooked bodies, putting yourself in a really good position, is against survivor law. According to survivors, you need to hook and go hide in a corner so they unhook and heal and do their gens in peace uwu but nah, screw that. I'm pretty competitive by nature and if I see the team is doing well and I'm losing, I need to take those measures now.

I almost forgot but a majority of the time in a swf group and I'm sure you've noticed this but there will be at least one to be armed with a flashlight and click it several times to get your attention or purposely go in your view to teabag to get you to chase them. Ignore them. Find the weakest link and work from there.

Generally the only way to learn how to really deal with them is just play against them, hone your mindgaming skills and keep your head as cool as possible even when you get tilted. Believe me, I even struggle sometimes to keep my cool when the one survivor is annoying me by trying to catch my attention. And sometimes I lose matches because the players were really well coordinated and that's just me needing to improve my own gameplay which can only be done by me playing more.

I don't know who all you have available to play killer wise or what perks you have unlocked but ruin will help, Thano from Nurse helps a bit, bbq to see where they are and even though I have no real luck with it (this is partially my fault since I am guilty of neglecting protection of my totems) , I really like devour if you can protect your totems. Haunted Grounds from Spirit will also get you a fast down if you're lucky enough to find someone or someone's shortly after some fool cleanses it. A nurse's calling is also good for when they sneak away to heal. You could also look into endgame perks like blood warden, NOED, etc. Franklin's from Cannibal can help if they're carrying items. A lot of times they'll be greedy enough to come right back for it so you can kinda keep your eye on the dropped item. Make your choice from Piggy punishes their altruism, it'll give you a fast down if you can determine the savior. Blood Echo from Oni screws their exhaustion perks (Sprint Burst, Dead Hard, etc) so that could help if their exhaustion perks are also getting you. Monitor and Abuse from Doc should decrease your terror radius to get in closer for a hit or a down if they're already injured.

I can't think of many more perks off hand and I don't view myself as experienced, so someone can always chime in if something I said can misdirect you but it helps me greatly and has helped me climb ranks. Hope this helps. ❤️

EDIT: I also forgot to mention two things. The first is body blocking. Sometimes swfs will body block for each other and don't get discouraged! This can help you if you take advantage of it. You can smack them out of your way, injuring them. If you manage to still snag the hook, you can then go after one or more of the body blockers. You can go right back for the one heading to the hook if they wiggled out especially if you've decided they're the weak link and their friends will be injured and you wouldn't believed how many of them will STILL body block despite being injured.

The second is the signs of a good looper other than the obvious teabagging in your view or clicky. The good loopers will generally wait at the corner of a jungle gym or any other similar structure. They will be able to run you good if they manage to drag you to killer shack. They know all the tiles and pallets, every window and just in general, the map layout, they are confident in their routing. If you can't catch them in within a minute or less, move on. Don't be afraid to switch targets and try to injure as many of them at once as you can. This'll create a form of pressure if they choose not to heal or waste valuable time healing (with nurse's calling, you can be able to sneak up on healing survivors especially with ghostface which is one reason I LOVE playing him).

oh my goodness thank you so much for taking the time to write all this, this was legitimately super helpful! i still need to work on identifying each players’ skill level per match, but like you said, it’s really effective when you can pinpoint the weakest link. i feel my biggest problem with these groups is pressuring effectively, bc typically they’re communicating which gens they should do together and whatnot, so i still need to grind for some of the good gen regression/pressure perks like thanatophobia, discordance, pop, etc.

  • @Mr_K said:

What makes you believe they were all SWF? Looked at their friends list? Asked if they were a SWF?

it’s pretty easy to tell when they all have similar handles, coordinating outfits, are all playing on the same platform, and their ranks are a literal rainbow lmfaooo.

Maybe they should blame matchmaking then not imbalance when every individual player in the lobby is better than them.

BRO i literally blamed matchmaking and not SWF itself. maybe learn to read next time & don’t comment if you have nothing helpful to say??? christ.
