You don’t really have to justify your playstyle. If you pursue an injured survivor who was just unhooked that is your prerogative. Why explain yourself or answer for it? Do you. But to be fair if you go back to the hook during an unhook, you could still follow the injured survivor’s scratch marks or blood pools to wherever they are so them ‘going for cover’ or some such doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll escape you.
I appreciate your civil response first and foremost. I like that people can still have a conversation. Honestly I don't know why I feel the need to justify it either. The only thing I can even think of is as I mentioned above I get no enjoyment out of making something less fun for someone else so maybe it's that. I guess that's the only thing I can think of to answer your question. About justification.
I can tell you what made me come to the keyboard. My day ended and I wanted to relax and play some dead by daylight. I literally turned it on, picked my killer, but as I went to enter queue I had this thought. I was like do I really want to play this and potentially put myself in a grumpy mood or stop having fun if I run into this kind of thing? And that was depressing to me. That it's so bad I had to stop and think if I really want to deal with it to play this game I enjoy. That's what made me want to blow off some steam with the post.

This seems like you used "Windstorm"- Blood (purple tier) and "All-Seeing" Spirit.
But that's the issue with Wraith; he relies heavily on add-ons to do well. Imagine if you'd played this game with worse or no add-ons, how would the match have gone for you then? He's fun, don't get me wrong, love the cutie, but he needs those add-ons to remain semi-viable.
I mean it's pretty easy to assume that you have more experience than I do as I certainly don't have very much but I really didn't have many problems leveling him up either. Now I suppose there's also that bonus so I didn't go through as many games to get to the level I am that I probably could have but I really like him. I mean that add-on is something else but I really like just the invisibility and stuff. I definitely annoys me how slow he appears but I also recognize that's important for balance, and I've come across a couple of those add-ons as well. The first time I played it I felt that he was underrated The first time I used that add-on I was like yeah, this dude is really underrated. Plus those purples are so common at higher trees too.

You’re right.
It isn’t relevant.
What do you want them to do?
Delete their save file and start levelling up all over again? You can’t revert a perk tier.
That definitely answers my one question. So like are there other perks that I should be avoiding putting extra levels in? That seems counterintuitive to my life as a gamer lol But I'm also not so pretentious I can't take good advice
-
I'm fairly new to the game so I say this with some inexperience, especially less experienced than most people in these discussions but after playing both sides for a while I would call myself a killer main, that's at least where I have more fun.
In what is again my vastly shallow amount of experience playing this it kind of feels like killers are always not only outnumbered but kind of getting the daggers both in balance and just in general. 😁
Opposite decisive strike and flashlights and stuff, as well as certain maps that are just silly where survivors can completely disappear in a chase just by pressing circle because of dark tall grass (I haaaate the swamp place) It seems like if killers ever step up to the plate they immediately get hit by a pitch. I didn't even get around to trying pyramid head before they changed him up a bit.
And then there's like silly stuff too like I just watched a parody video that mentions this survivor's book for killers but even though it was a joke I was watching it like dude that's really really valid lol. I don't camp or tunnel (usually) because it's like good etiquette or whatever and I try to be a positive dude and meanwhile you know, we're getting tea bagged and survivors are hanging out or trolling, sending messages, and getting to go against 4 reds at rank 16.. I have a lot to learn but my first impression is certainly that I chose the minority / "bad guys" side of the coin. 🤷🏻♂️☠️

Give him the full story though. Yes you get less noise span but the yellow aura when they let go stays linger at t3. Some of us prefer that
So like something to remember when I prestige? Or is there a way to select a lower t? And I welcome and appreciate advice like this so thank you

Instead of guessing how short a match is, you can see it at how many xp you get. You get 1 xp per second in the match and then 0-18 xp for emblems. Just a tip :)
I appreciate the info Thank you.

I'm gonna say, the only possible way 5 gens can be done, and escape in 3 minutes is if the killer does literally nothing to stop them from doing gens. To be fair this is a matchmaking problem if anything, not a balancing problem, as it would be strange if a rank 15 with 2 tier 1 perks could beat those ranks.
Also adding in the fact that bringing in a secret offering is just asking for gens to get done quick
Just to be clear about the point I was making I agree with you I do post this as a criticism of the matchmaking not the balance ✌🏼❣️ apologies if I did not convey that accurately

Five games later, I guess at least this time I put in some work... Lol I know the scoreboard doesn't show it but I hooked all of them once and some of them a couple times so I mean optimism sake it wasn't like a 3-minute game but you know, lol

It doesn't auto equip. Check your head cosmetics.
Also, as killer, I'm prioritizing hunting those displaying crowns already during the endgame collapse. You're welcome!
I thought that I had this same problem, but make sure you're not trying to get it on a licensed killer because that was my issue. I wasn't thinking and didn't realize that Freddy Krueger couldn't get one.

Friend, that is not salt at all, that Killer was a tunneling douche bag and I'm sorry for that experience. I hope you'll acquire the crown and make it out soon.
I appreciate the kind words man. Truly. It's like more frustrating because not to beep my own horn here or anything but like I never do that. There's so much teabagging and toxicity and game which strangely I don't see on the forums, and I just stay out of it. But it definitely gets frustrating to deal with lol

It's easier to gst it on killer but you can only get it with non licensed killers and you have to get it as each individual killer since it is not universal.
But like I would happily get it with each survivor as well. I mean it's certainly one thing to present a challenge to players and say if you do this you earn this thing and that's totally fine. But when there's two sides of the same coin but one is harder to flip than the other that takes a little bit of the fun out of side one. 🤷🏻♂️ But just my opinion, my saltiness. Respect man ✌🏼❣️

Stop looping Leatherface. See how silly that sounds? I hate it when I play survivor, I don't do it as killer I choose not to (unless I'm getting teabagged or griefed then it's like whatever you made the bed lie down in it) but it's a thing. It's a mechanic. If it gets done, that sucks and I'm sorry, no sarcasm I'm genuinely and truly sorry you had this experience I also don't enjoy that made you have less a good time than you would've normally..
but if you want to punish camping, get on gens.

Because right now, that's literally his power. You might as well argue that Wraith shouldn't be allowed to go invisible, Trapper no longer is allowed to use traps, Nurse can no longer Blink, etc etc
Also this. Leatherface has to charge it up, if he misses he tantrums etc. Just like nurse shakes it off and all that. Trapper not watching where he steps. It has a cost and a consequence to go with the reward and effort.

I am so really disappointed, I was expecting Pennywise or Jason.
Very disappointed and very annoyed by the false teasing.
You know what annoys me most about this pyramid head thing? They had a statement out there that said this is a licensed killer that's been around since the inception. To me and to most people I would assume inception means the beginning. The beginning of horror would be Dracula, Dr Frankenstein, Dr Frankenstein's monster or wolfman. Even if you land interpret that as no they don't mean that old They mean modern horror, the inception of modern horror. Okay? Halloween was the first in October of 1978. Seven months later was alien, shortly after that was the shining. Friday the 13th came out around this time.
The first silent Hill was in 1999, just under 22 years ago. That's not the inception of anything. It's not even the first horror video game. There was a goofy little Friday the 13th game way before silent Hill.
I agree with you I was disappointed as well but I also felt like that was a load of crap. Pyramid Head did not come out at the inception of anything. Not horror movies or games or characters. in the grand scheme of things it's relatively recent.
-
I hate when people even use the word noob as a derogatory. Because what you mean is new players. That's what you're saying. That they are making this game more accessible to invite other people in to love it as much as we do and that when those new players get here they won't know what they're doing. (Mind blown)
That aside from the fact I don't even agree with that statement anyway. Like someone else mentioned the cage thing sends them all the way across the map from you, literally the farthest possible hook from your location. All this is is a counter.. finally a counter.. to flashlights and body blocking. That ability is not about camping. That ability is about focusing on the generators while still doing your job. You know the generators right? The things you can put a new part in and have repaired before some killers can cross the map?
I play both, and it's crazy to me how survivors have it easy and I say that as someone that finds it much easier on survivor, but one counter to anything the survivors have in their vast arsenal and everyone loses their minds. I'm not a silent Hill fan I've never played it, I was not excited by the announcement today I was a little disappointed it wasn't somebody else that I thought it was, I'm not sure how pyramid head is in any way to quote the development team "there since the inception" but it's also pretty asinine that people are so mad there's a counter to some more annoying items and tactics finally.
When I play survivor or killer I encounter what we all encounter on either side of the coin where you hit someone after getting looped or get hit after looping whatever the case may be, you pick up / get picked up and boom the flashlight goes on right? And so that killer has wasted time getting looped just to not get a hook when finally picking the survivor up. I see absolutely no problem with one killer amongst the entire roster of killers having a hard counter to that circumstance. Know what you do against pyramid head? Bring a med kit or tool box instead of a flashlight.

@FlamingkittyUmad said:
Preemptive disclaimer: I'm not saying "playing survivor is too hard :((", I'm pointing out how unfair it is to play survivor in a lot of situations. The killer can have a lot of really dirty advantages but if all 4 survivors are experienced and coordinated they can still all escape.
First: This game isn't in alpha any more, Even if you can't viably give survivors another objective other than "just rush the gens lol", I'm sure you can afford to give the survivors another tool to use (Waking up against a freddy is a lot more well-rounded now), or at the very least have The Entity step in when the killer is stomping the survivors at 4 gens left, because hatch is all but useless now and there's no way a single survivor can escape alone through the gates during EGC.
Second: stop balancing the game entirely around stacked SWF groups. Unless survivors are coordinated to rush gens they have no chance against a half decent killer (depending on other factors). Devs are just now addressing the problem of deadzones- spots on the map which are completely empty of anything significant, and only after a long stream of survivor nerf updates (while pallets/ windows still have bad hitboxes)
Third: Some killers, like Spirit, Doc, Deathslinger, Oni, just to name a few, have powers without any counter play to them, which is just another reason survivors have no choice but to rush gens.
Examples: any spirit player with 20$ headphones can hear exactly where sounds of pain/ footsteps are and use it like a beacon to track the survivor; Deathslinger's shot can't be dodged, only missed, and unless there is a solid wall between killer and survivor there is no way to resist the pull since you bounce off every object like you're covered in grease, The Oni has a hillbilly chainsaw with 300% more turning and movement control that can insta-down multiple survivors around a corner or through a vault and gives the killer a boosted bloodhound into his default kit; and the new pyramid head killer has a mori built into it's power/ doesn't have to use hooks.
I play both, higher survivor rank than killer rank.
As a survivor you have a team, self heals, three lives without a mori, two lives even with the best mori, flashlights, medkits, tool boxes, pallets, perks, tall grass/darkness sometimes to the extreme like the Oni place, 360 ankle breaking, vaulting, looping, struggle, hit-sprint, killer swing recovery, the hatch and body blocking.
Pyramid is like the first counter to some of this (flashlights, body blocking) in the roster. And even with those admittedly powerful counters that he brings, you can still install a new part and have a generator done before he makes it halfway across some of these maps. Even a level one survivor has most of what I listed, the exception of self-heal and items. Even a level one survivor goes into the game with everything but that.
Sometimes I get frustrated as a survivor as well. Sometimes I get frustrated playing killer. But the survivor experience definitely does not need a buff. If anything I could think of a couple different killers that could use a hand.

"when there's already teamwork, and flashlights, and tool boxes, and looping, and pallets, and decisive strike, and med kits working against that one killer."
This only truly works when randoms just click well together or when there is a 4-man SWF. Using that as a basis, I might aswell start using people like Otz who got a 4k using Bubba and the speedlimiter addon to say that Bubba is fine without an instadown.
"I feel like this is probably someone who enjoys playing killer talking to someone who enjoys playing survivor so of course you and I see different sides of the same coin."
Nah, I play both, red ranks consistently aswell. And I dont see any real downside in my average killer games. Yes, I'd be destroyed slightly easier vs optimal SWF, but optimal SWF is NOT the standard. I'd still easily get a 2-3k in my average game. Hell, I've had games where I played killer, went to the bathroom to pee mid game and still ended up getting a 4k.
"I mean even being hit by a killer right? The killer has to stop for a minute and shake his weapon off while at the same time whoever gets hit bolts forward with a speed boost."
The killer animation isnt that long and the speedboost is only big enough to make it to the nearest structure before the killer catches up. And then you have to hope 1. pallets spawned there and 2. no one wasted said pallet before you arrived there. I've had plenty of games where I ran up to a structure, expecting there to be a pallet since pallet spawns in other structures were low and still not have a pallet there, meaning the speedboost I gained from the hit was voided by RNG ######### me over. So I was forced to use an unsafe window instead and hope the killer didnt know there was no pallet. Let alone the amount of times where I was the second person being chased and ALL the strong pallets were already broken. The speedboost gained from tanking a hit while the killer moves at 20% speed while cleaning his weapon isnt that much of a downside. Let alone that there are plenty of ways to force survivors to either ignore their teammate, guaranteeing you a kill, or speed up the gen fixing.
"But it feels like people are asking for another way to make 3 minute games 2 minutes and 30 seconds instead."
Hypothetically, the fastest game is 3 minutes. Assuming the killer does not patrol any gens, 3 survivors bringing a toolbox with BNP and 1 bringing a key, 2 people having prove thyself, everyone running no mither, resilience and spinechill while the killer looks at all survivors at the same time, every survivor knows where all the generators are from the beginning, do a 1/1/1/1 split on the first 4 generators and it being a relatively small map and the hatch spawning directly next to the final gen, also happening to be a 4 man gen, while survivors do a key escape.
The average game in reality, is about 10 minutes long. I've even had games that lasted nearly 20 minutes simply because the killer set up a 3 gen from the moment the game started and was essentially waiting for survivors to sacrifice themselves in favor of doing gens. There are many ways a killer can slow down the game. Chasing someone does not slow down match time. Chasing someone allows 3 people who are not being chased to do gens instead. Chasing someone for 5 gens is a mistake you made. Sometimes you just need to admit defeat and know someone is gonna outplay for 5 minutes, and if they can outplay you for 5 minutes, they can outplay you for 5 gens. Thinking a 5% stagger would impact the game that much is simply not true. Either you already were gonna catch a person, or you werent. There is less than 1% of players that would escape your grasp by that 5% stagger, unless you really use the lack of stagger in your advantage(revving billy, charging huntress, for example). Which is even less of a playerbase.
My point was simply that survivors already have plenty of means of escape, and that killers are... Well killers, that shouldn't be on equality with survivors. And for what it's worth as much as I enjoy playing killer I played a lot of survivor last night like four to six hours straight or something doing those mastery challenges. I definitely encountered what it is your referencing more than once. And yes probably about 70% of the time they would assassin's creed drop me. However I also learned that if I dropped out made like I was going to go right and then took a hard hook left they would miss. So it's not impossible to avoid either as it is

Correct, however, these survivors are able to fix generators without ever having learned to do so. As for staggering and slowing down. Yeah, the killers were slowed down and staggered. When Myers was shot, he was slowed down. Not stopped, but slowed down.
There are a lot of other things in this game that need some changing, like an easy haddonfield nerf would simply turn 1 or 2 of the flat roofs into balconies with only 1 entrance. There should be more rooms that are small enough to tank a hit and escape a killer, but once injured, a death trap. You already have the Saloon room with 3 breakable doorways and 1 window, that is essentially a death trap. We need more rooms like that. We'd need large wooden crates that would essentially qualify for killer pallets, that a killer could quickly push/kick into a doorway/in front of a window that takes time for survivors to break down, making a doorway and/or window inaccesible for a loop unless actively taken down(aka, giving survivors an objective other than generators). There is an easy solution to shutting down godloops to a point where survivors actually have to spend time earning back the loop. Giving killers 2 possible ways of breaking a strong loop prematurely(breaking doors and kicking crates) without costing too much preptime. Let alone that the game needs a lot more unsafe pallets in deadzones. But just because that all is needed on killer-side, doesnt mean there isnt anything on killer-side that is particularly strong that might need a tiny bit of a nerf in today's meta.
I feel like we will just have to respectfully agree to disagree. I mean you want killers to get slowed down from falling when there's already teamwork, and flashlights, and tool boxes, and looping, and pallets, and decisive strike, and med kits working against that one killer.
And it's not like that other game we won't mention by name Why you have to find car keys and a gas tank and a battery, we run up to a generator and hold R1. I feel like this is probably someone who enjoys playing killer talking to someone who enjoys playing survivor so of course you and I see different sides of the same coin. I just, I don't know man. I feel like killers already have enough stacked against them. I mean even being hit by a killer right? The killer has to stop for a minute and shake his weapon off while at the same time whoever gets hit bolts forward with a speed boost. And you know, I'm kind of a new player I haven't been playing as long as likely yourself, other folks. maybe I'll feel differently 200 hours from now or something. But it feels like people are asking for another way to make 3 minute games 2 minutes and 30 seconds instead.

Yeah, that's why people have those self-imposed rules, because they know it's not fun and they like to go out of their way to make sure their opponents have a good time - which is admirable, but certainly not compulsory.
If only it was a two-way street. 😂 It's really toxic on PS4 which is weird because it's like super chill and friendly and cooperative on the forums which I really appreciate by the way yourself included. On PS4 it's bad dude, like every couple matches I get a message. EVERY match there's griefing when I play killer. Be it teabagging or on rare occasion people even refusing to leave the map after the exit gates are opened and I don't mean for a couple minutes, but for a good amount of time. I had one game where instead of leaving they went around and were just destroying all my demogorgon tunnels And because I was disheartened because here's another loss for myself I really just wanted the game to end so I could learn from it and move on and stuff like that definitely makes it hard sometimes. But ya know, rude is not an excuse for rude 🤷🏻♂️
-
I have definitely noticed that survivor queue times are like three and four times longer than killer queue times. If I queue as a killer which is what I normally do that's what I play most thus far, the queue times are pretty near instant I mean under 30 seconds. If I queue survivor especially late at night like now... when I'm playing survivor as I am right now I have time to do things like scroll through TikTok or you know, check the forums lol
That's genuinely why I'm so active on the forums right now because I have nothing to do for 8 minutes between matches and right now what I want to do is dead by daylight so that's what has me on the forums while waiting for the game.
Edit: I didn't mean to totally disregard your question there I'm sorry. Yeah, I mean I've been playing for a bit now, like 20 hours or so but definitely not an extended amount of time. I have one survivor at level 44 and one killer at level 41 because I'm kind of like, focusing for that orange perk so that I can take self heal and barbecue and chili on other people but that's about as far as my progress has come.

The way the game is designed in general encourages tunnelling as a playstyle because in any game where you're playing against a team, eliminating as many of them as possible as early as possible is always going to put you at a huge advantage. Moris just make that easier. You can definitely use them, but it's up to you what you want to do with them - for example, a lot of people have a self-imposed rule that they only mori survivors who are on death hook, or that they only use their mori at all if the survivors are being rude or irritating.
I respect that. I definitely don't tunnel even when I run into a teabagger or someone sending me messages. Despite the abundant temptation. I used the Mori and I didn't really tunnel I just kind of played, ad I normally do, and if I saw someone that I had hooked previously I then just killed them. 🤷🏻♂️ But I didn't sit around and wait for it or anything. Because I know I would be super frustrated if I got hooked once and then boom I'm just dead I'd be like really game? XD
-
Just my two cents. You say that killers should be staggered like survivors. Michael Myers in the original Halloween was shot five times and fell backwards out of a two-story window landing on his back only to get up and be gone before they had time to cross the bedroom and look down to see if he was dead.
Jason has been shot, beheaded, stabbed, blown up, lit on fire, he's still killing.
Survivors can wiggle out of someone like leatherface's grasp despite the fact that he's a towering monstrosity with unearthly strength in the movies.
Look at the spirit. How do you stun an etheral ghost with a 5 lb wood pallet?
These killers are not supposed to be on equal footing with the survivors they're hunting. If that was the case the original Halloween would have been an 8 second movie. The movie would have ended the moment she hit him with the car outside of the asylum.
So I understand your frustration, but these are other worldly unstoppable monsters from movies we all love. They absolutely should not be treated as your basic human being.
-
I appreciate the clarification man because like I said you know I got on the forums when I started playing to kind of get the etiquette and stuff, because I don't like to be toxic, and I've been avoiding it. literally going out of my way to avoid it sometimes like running by someone that just got unhooked to kill the person that got them off the hook. I read that and I thought well I'm sorry that seems like that's my directive with this Mori 😑
-
There's another topic about this. I viewed it, mentioned that I also as a new player and rank 16 have this problem. This was my match immediately following posting that comment and returning to DBD. As I said in the other post, I only killed three because tea-bagging < Bubba's chainsaw. My level is 41 because Bubba is like my only played killer basically, next highest killer is 15 or something.
-
Literally the next game I played after my comment. And I know what you're going to say "But you killed three." Yes, because they wanted to teabag so I made like I was going to give up and go left, revved chainsaw and then sprinted down exit gate swinging XD but yeah, this is an issue. I'm not just 16, I'm a new 16 lol. My Bubba is 41 but that's because I have played two killers more than a couple matches and he's one of them. My next highest is 15. This game despite the lawls at the end was as you imagine, about 6 minutes in length (might've been less)
-
I have like 20 or 30 hours into the game if that, and I am (was) 15. I was playing Nightmare and got paired with four folks who were in a party and super, super good. I had no chance. Like, literally embarrassing no chance. I then of course got messaged afterward about how I am totally garbage which I am already quite aware. lol Sometimes it's rough going through the L2P process when as I L2P I get games that are like 3 minutes and pretty one sided, then my next game I kill all four people doing their L2P in like 5 minutes, there's like no middle ground. The game with Freddy I mentioned, I guess like toolbox or something I don't know, they had two gens complete before I was able to cross the map to check them. Def wish MM was more forgiving. I don't want to get roasted, and I don't want to roast others, just wanna learn man lol
-
Thank you.
-
Thanks y'all I appreciate it. I kind of figured that was part of it but I wasn't sure if like there was something regarding terror radius that I was missing or if I should as you said disregard that part of it. Again, thank you.

As for the final question, yes there's a cap on how much stalk you can get from each survivor. You know you've reached the cap when their outline is bright red instead of the white it begins at. I don't believe they regain stalk throughout the match, although I might be wrong.
I appreciate it and they must not because it was a game that I killed all four people and the very last person I hadn't seen in awhile but I couldn't increase my power any further so it was either faster than my brain is telling me it was, the match I mean, or it just stays that way. But I appreciate that thank you now I know that and I will make sure I'm using it at the right time and not just charging it up for no reason

In no way did I mean "go out of your way to tunnel", I'm just saying if it's an extremely toxic person that just got unhooked and I coincidentally find them moments after, I won't hesitate if they're the only person in site to re-hook. Lol.
As a survivor main I'm definitely against camping and tunneling, as it just unfairly ruins someone's experience.
But if you coincidentally find the same person, it happens. Just knock em down and go find someone else. :)
It slows gen progression immensely because someone has to go help them, and you can find another person and slow the progression further by downing/hooking the new person, all without tunneling. 👍️
lol I know man and I don't do it. But I for sure get tempted. Some survivors are so toxic it's really blood-warming. The online community, like the forums, everyone gives the impression this community is pretty solid. I choose to hold onto that thought. But I am so unlucky and get a good game here or there, but most of the time it's like if I don't kill all four, even three, the messages, the tb'ing, the standing by exit refusing to move. It's a salt shaker. =/

First and foremost I appreciate the civil discourse in all the responses. Much love. ✌🏼❣️
The exploit question. I threw some different phrases into Google/YT and pretty sure they were asking me to "hooktech". Definitely not my thing whether exploit or gameplay.
To the thing about how you tunnel or camp when they're toxic. I've definitely been tempted but manged to restrain myself. I'm just... That guy ya know? I try to always be friendly and helpful, civil and non-toxic. It's just me. But for *real* I'm tempted sometimes man. I've run into both really chill friendly players and quite the opposite which of course is to be expected in any community. But some of the more toxic folks it has definitely crossed my mind like no matter what happens you won't get to leave here lol.
I feel the play for fun thing too. I believe in live and let live, to each their own.
So again, appreciate the civil dialogue here. And thanks for the info/discussion.

Why bring another clown in?
There is a big, like... huge difference between someone resembling John Wayne Gacy and a character like Pennywise. Yeah they both wear clown makeup.. there, that's 100% of the similarities. Even in Dead By Daylight, the clown is very human. Concoctions mixed and tossed to catch you. Pennywise is a crazy monster thing that feeds off of the energy of fear, and can do all kinds of supernatural things. That's like saying Jason and Michael are the same killer because both their masks are white. Sirloin and ground beef might both be cow, that doesn't make ground beef a steak ya know?
