I mean Dark Theory needs to be set up at a totem, you need to be looping around that area, the loop needs to be still close enough for the effect to be taken into account but not close enough for the killer to easily stomp it. And even with all those conditions it is still 1 % less speed than mft which activates when you get injured, at state that will happen unless you are going against a one shot down killer, and even then you can use it after getting downed once.

I find it kind of problematic that MFT gives you more but has less conditions for its value to be taken into account.

I wouldn't say that those haste buffs for killers are Ok, they are better than nothing, I guess people would have loved to have different changes that play into the qualities of those killers more than just slapping a haste on top of it and calling it a day, but then again at least it is something. (Also many people complain about Trickster being 4.6 m/s so I wouldn't call it generally ok). Those buffs are just a lazy way out of it when you cannot figure out something else to make the killer better.

I think maybe I didn’t explain properly. I’m ok with all buffs and changes to killer. I see no issue - only if the same rule/leniency was applied to survivor.

im ok with killers being extra strong with extra strong perks (I play killer) I just hate that it’s ok for killers but not for survivors. So if it gets taken away from survivors then it should be taken away from killers too.

you can smell the hypocrisy when killers (even big streamers like Otzdarva) where complaining because Haste stacks for survivors (Hope+MFT) meanwhile, at the exact same time, haste also stacked for killers. They where saying it’s unfair that survivors can stack haste. Whilst stacking it themselves.

it was vile. And I just feel like the community was gaslighted into thinking that MFT made a massive difference because I also experienced it. It really wasn’t an issue unless I had a god looper which tbh, would’ve looped me anyways regardless.

It was just hypocritical which then made it one sided rather than balanced.

so my gripe is not that MFT was nerfed. But that MFT was nerfed just because (let’s be completely honest) Killer mains made complaints.

the same is happening with STBFL. I love this perk, I see no issues. It’s strong - deal with it. It’s been in the game since the beginning but all of a sudden it’s not a rare strong perk - now it’s “OP” and needs to be nerfed. Unless something literally brakes the game, there should be no reason to nerf something. If BHVR does nerf something, then they should have a good reason as people also pay money for these perks.

and with the buff to Trickster - before he was mid, now he will definitely be top. Even this is hypocritical. Look at poor Freddy. He was strong yes, got a massive nerf. He is now below what Trickster was, but he ain’t getting a 500% buff to his kit……

I just wish they would get a design philosophy and actually STICK to it.

its ok to announce to Killer mains “shut up, we’re not nerfing it, its fine. You also have similar strong perks” and say the same to survivors. MFT had plenty of counters. Killers just needed to actually be bothered to switch their 4 gen slowdown build up and they would have found the game more enjoyable.

  • Ok my thoughts.

i honestly have no issues with anything you said a as in I don’t agree.

    im 60% survivor | 40% killer.

i have no issue with nurse. She has plenty of counter but just not as much as other killers and her counter is simple. You have to play against her, the exact opposite of how you play against a normal killer because playing loops normally is predictable. In fact, play like this with every killer.

i have no issues with Blight except his double speed add ons. They make him overpowered. Everything else is fun.

yes I play Survivor most and I have no issues with the “OP busted” killers.

the thing I feel is unfair is BHVR’s and the communitys hypocrisy surrounding MFT.

its adds 3% haste - yes, it is strong. That’s ok.

its ok to have a strong perk, the same way I feel its ok for a killer to be really strong. It has to have one condition. A high skill need.

you do not load into a game with nurse and win. You have to be good.

you do not load into a game with blight and win. You have to be good.

you do not load into a game with MFT and win. You have to be good.

for some reason it is ok that a killer can stack PWYF, Rapid Brutality, NOED, Batteries Included. Get value out of all haste effects, have them stack, get a few kills or win - but a survivor cannot have 3% haste when INJURED.

its ok that Nurse ignores the core mechanics of the game, but a survivor with MFT is OP.

Its ok that a tombstone Myers can have and keep 3 stacks of PWYF all game, but 3% is op.

its ok that SM can randomly get a 5% haste effect because Claudette in the other side of the map entered a beam but 3% whilst injured is OP.

its ok that Boon: Dark Theory can give you 2% haste for nothing, but 3% whilst injured is OP.

its ok that BHVR has just gone on a roll with buffing killers with new ways to get haste effect (all at least 5%) trapper, SM, Trickster, Alien, Chucky but 3% whilst injured is OP.

let me make this clear. I never used MFT. I like my lith/SB. But I DID go against it.

Id be happy if it was nerfed/deleted if the same principle was applied to both sides but it’s not.

the average kill rate is around 60-62%. This means if you load in as a survivor, you already only have a 40-38% chance of escaping. MFT didn’t win games, it just raised that percentage.

again, let me reiterate. IM OK WITH THE NERF TO MFT. I’m not ok with the hypocrisy.

killers would have MFT in there lobby and NOT complain because they didn’t win, they would complain because they didn’t 4k. Whilst having a 2-3k. Which I would say is balanced.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all of the cosmetics completely unconnected from the event mechanics this time around, because you unlock them with that new currency gained from doing challenges?

This is the least you've ever had to sweat to do things in an event, you straight up don't have to escape or get kills to get the new cosmetics. If explicitly optional cool mechanics that you don't have to win the game to benefit from counts as incentivising sweaty play, I don't think any event ever could avoid that.

You can’t do the tome challenges without gaining energy which is gained by the main objective. I don’t care about escaping or 4k. The issue is the sweat that is happening which is incentivised by the devs choosing the main objective being the only way. Matches are over pretty quickly. Also today I’ve had countless killers using the portals to camp. It’s just sweaty man which negates all fun.

Chasing is the worst it's ever been for killer. Even with the buffs for chasing. A single chase can and typically will cost you either 2 or 3 gens. The maps are filled to the brim with pallets and windows. And thanks to WoO survivors know that exactly where the safe ones are and where resource are still up. This means most chases are extended.

Then on top of WoO there is MfT and Resilience which further extends chase. Then God forbid the survivors are even half ass coordinated then you gotta deal with body blocks, flashlights, sabos, and cruelest of all the Buckle Up FtP combo.

The devs nerfed every single regression perk which was what gave the killer time to do chases. Then to make it worse after nerfing the regression they released several perks that speed up gens for survivor. So gens go even faster than they did before despite the 10 second time increase. BHVR completely erased the one real buff killers got in years.

And if you pay attention survivors KNOW chases are how Killers lose the game. And I can PROVE that survivors know this, because the 4 killers they hate the most are the 4 killers who can get around the chase.

Nurse and Blight are hated because they are actually good in chase and can win them.

Sadako is hated because she can ignore the chase.

And the most despised is Skull Merchant who also not only ignores the chase but forces survivors to come to them.

You will also notice they hate basement builds because those builds also ignore the chase.

This is all proof that chasing is a bad idea for killer and everyone knows it.

Camping and tunneling are good counters to chases and guaranteed kills.

Things will only get worse until BHVR balances around gens done rather than kills|escapes. Because kill rates are vastly inflated thanks to survivors throwing in the end game. 99% of kills happen AFTER all 5 gens are done. If survivors actually left after the final gen almost all games would be 0k or 1k and 2k at max.

BHVR needs to release the data on how many gens get done on average per match and how many survivors are still alive on average when 5th gen is done.

I’m confused by this opinion. You said thanks to WOO which is a perk that has been out for about 4 years.

you then said thanks to resilience which has been out for 7 years.

you also said survivors KNOW that chases equals win - this is nothing new.

MFT, FTP and buckle up are very new and the camping, tunnelling, suicide on hook - all at 5 gens started before that.

infact tunnelling SHOT Up in my games after the DS nerf (which was stupid)

they nerfed gen perks because of the Knight holding 49-60 minute games.

they nerfed gen times as the same time they nerfed DS so tunnelling shot Up so survivors had nothing to do but do gens as fast as possible as a result of BHVR and K play styles.

I agree with you that it’s all from BHVRS poor choices in design when it comes to buffs and Nerfs. But the majority of this is in the hands of the K. They genuinely decide how the games go

The game hasn't gone downhill. It's when the playerbase decided to move to a more competitive, optimal and meta-absorbed mindset and moved away from just enjoying the game, exploring and having fun.

The strive for having to be known as an amazing player to a point where, if they go through a rough patch, it is everything else which is the problem and not them. The need to follow their favourite YouTuber and only use what they use. The game needs the fun back and, for the most part, the tools are there. Some changes could be made, but I'd put the main reason down to the shift in mentality towards it.

I think it’s exactly this. It’s the players mindset influenced by the content creators.

I do have a somewhat gripe with content creators that push for the “optimal” play, mainly Otz. Don’t get me wrong - he be the GOAT. But, he has a very specific influence over people with small minds and sensitive egos that I don’t think he is aware of - at 8k viewers a time, he’s definitely influencing. Jesus even during HC Survivor, JRM & Aayron where goofing around and he was just screaming at them the whole time.

Now with the heal nerf (yes, influenced a lot by Otz) there is no time to play for fun, you play optimally or your out the game fast.

With the gen speed nerf (again, influenced by Otz) survivors tried to counter by playing gen perks along with BHVR releasing gen perks leading to gen rushing out of panic which led to gen slowdown builds being the counter to the counter leading to where we are now…. Fast tunnelling games where either side is afraid to take a break because gens will fly or teams will die. It’s stale. And NO, it’s not perks that are the problem, not Eruption, not Pain Res, not MFT! It’s now the players. BHVR changed the settings and we adjusted to a hole that we probably can’t change back unless BHVR removes All gen slowdowns and speed ups whilst saying “no longer the play style” and forces us out of the whole of countering the counter to the counter to the counter influenced by the counter.

sorry if I’m coming across as an Otz hater, I’m really not. I respect him so much for his mindset but DBD was not the game. I think he needs to watch and under the full reach of his influence which no, does NOT directly influence BHVR - but it does his viewers, who then complain, who then tweet, who then report which THEN influencers BHVR.

F balance. The game should be fun.

  • @Luv2NotHateDBD said:

My Problem is that BHVR seems to want to limit what types of counter play which makes the game very, very, stale.

It feels like both sides have had their toy boxes stripped down, so it only encourages a very, very rigid of play style.

A big part of the problem is new perks accidently creating toxic synergies with older perks that become too strong on either side.

Example Pain Res and DMS. (Before the adjustment to Scorge Hooks)

Or Eruption and Call of Brine (You can't just remove someone from the game for 30 second).

    Or Now: MFT and Hope.

What they need to do is evaluate the perk system and create perk types. Example: "Eruption is Gen Slow Down" or MFR and Hope is "Player Speed". If they would create a perk point system that prevents a player from assigning all value High Value Perks at once, then the problem is solved. This way they can continue to make new perks and them just limiting some of the build outs.

But the issue with this is they’re essentially controlling your game even worse by saying “these are available to you but no” that to me is in line with the proposed EGC Mori that just plays the game for you and removes your choices. Which is the reason why I loved this game.

2500 hours and you think dead hard was OK and now is destroyed (even if the perk is still played both in pubs and comp).

Maybe in another 2500 hours you will have some clarity.

DH was a pretty simple perk and almost laughable to dodge on its first endurance nerf. It really wasn’t an “issue” - it was just popular. Popular doesn’t equal OP. Would you call Wesker OP?

ps. Hours don’t equal skill… clearly

Hey you, yes, you. I need your input on this topic since I want to gather the community's stance on Filters.

Rather it be NVIDIA Filters or TV/Monitor settings, do you use Filters to change the way the game looks? If so why?

I personally have been using Filters to deal with my Deuteranopia (Red-Green) Colorblindness. To be more specific, colors that have red and/or green in them blend together with my vision and brain, I have a difficult time making sense of those colors and it can be hard for me to see certain things as a result.

As you can probably tell, this is an issue with DBD. You need to see RED scratchmarks and blood by often looking through GREEN grass. As you can imagine, this is not a fun thing to deal with, and while BHVR's colorblind settings help a bit, often Filters do the heavy lifting.

    Visual example below.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9V8SIWPUDJSI/screenshot-28905-29.png

Because I personally feel bad using Filters to alter my game's appearance, I do have a few downsides that Ive decided to live with. Maps like Coldwind, Eyrie of Crows, and Decimated Borgo have the issue where colors blend together when I use Filters, as the changes in coloration ironically make things worse for my colorblindness on those maps.

I hope that wasnt too long or too boring to read.

Anyways, Filters, how do we feel about them?

Yes. I use Nvidia colour & detail filters (like saturate) I play both sides and I just like my perks looking brighter, my cosmetics looking brighter and more textured and more colour powered. I just like it. I turned them off once and realised how now the game looked so washed and blurry compared.

  • Then your most likely part of the problem - with no intention of moving forward.

    just stay camping dude 👍🏻

  • @scenekiller said:

I'll reiterate what I've said in threads past, because I truly believe it to be the problem:

People cry out for more balance but the reality is, the more we "balance" a game that was inherently based on an imbalanced premise to begin with, the more we're going to see matches where one side dominates the minute the other makes a single mistake. And this leads to more people being frustrated and less fun in the game itself.

This is the direct result of people caring too much about "balance" in a game that was fun BECAUSE of all the ridiculous things both sides could do. OP perks/mechanics/add-ons/etc in the past were definitely "unbalanced", but matches felt like they had a lot more stakes to them, or that they could change at any time, because either side could use these to swing the match in their favor.

I agree with this so much and also have been saying this. Everyone wants balance - until they see how boring, predictable and unfun it is. I want old 5 tótem ruin back.

I’ve NEVER cared about dying - I care about the match. I want to have fun.

im also convinced that the rise of the likes of Otz and compatible “optimal play by subtracting 60% of 3 gens plus Dead Man’s” type streamers has made this game so dry and sweaty.

I Guess my real issue is all matches are turning into and Otz trial when all I was looking for was a JRM / Yerv trial like I used to enjoy.

if the result is that the player base has just changed and that’s it, then pub DBD matches are just not for me.

Me and my friends are the type to spawn into Midwitch with an anti hooking Head On / Exponential built. WE WILL ALL DIE. We will NOT escape. No gen will be touched. We’re just after some head on stuns and hook sabos. It always leads to a 4K for the K and we’re all essentially bled out once the Boon carrier dies, but it’s the best fun.

Winning is fun when it happens. But it’s not why I spawn in - so stop camping and tunnelling ME!!!!!

  • @Fantasy said:

It's something to do with the app data in documents and then delete the DBD folder. No idea if that will make any sense to you but it takes like 2 minutes to do it. So deleting the app data is the fix.

    This worked perfectly, thank you!

Anyone else having this issue on Steam:

    Close game first!

    1. Type into Search bar on windows - %LocalAppData%
    2. Scroll down to DeadByDaylight folder
    3. Delete this folder.
    4. Restart game. The game should automatically download this folder again (Basically resetting it)

I kept the original file in my waste basket just in case ha, but it worked fine.

It's not a strategy when it is the one that work the best...

A strategy is when you have the choice to go A, B, C with the same odd of winning for each choices and when the opponent has a way to counter it.

Camping and tunneling have no counterplay unless gen rushing.

Everything in this game that have no counterplay = OP and bullshit

    Lolllololololololololololol
