Other than my love for Sadako there’s no reason you’d play her over most other killers if you like to win games. You’re basically a below-average powerless M1 killer most games when survivors take tapes / turn off TVs - I guess for new players she’d be strong if you ignored the TVs and became condemned.
She needs a lot of love when it comes to chase ability (make her phase through dropped pallets / breakable walls when demanifested, increase passive phasing duration), a map wide lullaby if we’re keeping it (like Drac in bat form), an add on rework (iri tape’s current version should be removed) and TV cooldowns should be much shorter and more punishing if holding a tape.
-
I agree she feels clunky and gets heavily punished by body blocking which is frustrating to play against.
If the switch to and from head form was instant/smoother or infection applied immediately if hitting with head form then she’d feel better to play as without being “OP”.

You've brought up some good points about Batteries Included in this thread. The simple answer here is that after buffing it alongside Steady Pulse, the team noticed that the increased burst of speed had become a little too oppressive, given how easy it was to trigger and how long it would stay active.
While we are bringing the Haste % back in line with it's pre-Steady Pulse value, we still want to explore ways of making this Haste valuable to you. By increasing the radius at which this effect will trigger around a completed gen, it should offer more flexibility in how you path your chases and make it easier to get that burst of speed. Of course, it's something we'll be watching closely over the coming days and weeks!
As for your question about why this wasn't tested on the PTB, it was unfortunately a case of timelines not always lining up. A few perk changes were made slightly later in the update cycle and weren't able to make it into the PTB build. As mentioned above, we're always monitoring for feedback we can bring back to the team, so we'll be keeping a close eye on these perks as folks go hands-on with them tomorrow!
I think the nerf was unnecessary - it'll mostly be used by weaker m1 killers who need the help than more oppresive killers who already have good map pressure. Even at that, I doubt at 7% it'll be widely used by the majority in favour of gen regression.
-
she still feels really underwhelming tbh, like freddy tier.

So even if you run Reikos watch it does nothing for the demanifest?
according to jc’s video above, the invisibility duration is the same whether you use reiko’s watch or not, sadly. it doesn’t extend it like it’s supposed to.
-
i’m thankful they finally looked at it.
Shame about Reiko’s Watch being totally bugged so it doesn’t extend the duration at all now when I was looking forward to running it again.
Let’s hope it’s addressed quickly this time 🙏🏼

That gives me some hope.
Hopefully. I figured maybe they would listen to a larger content creator since our voices aren't enough.
-
I mentioned it to Otz yesterday in his stream and he said he's already told the devs about it - we've also submitted reports with logs and video evidence so not sure what else we can do sadly. They seem reluctant to fix it for some reason.
-
I don't mind the lullaby as I think making her totally silent would be a bit unfair, however I would like to see them make it map wide like Dracula's in bat form - that way you won't know where she might appear from.

Which of these is now actually difficult or requires much time?
Right? Survivors can freely take a tape next to the gen they're working on without having to worry about condemn stacks (unless she chases you ofc). That's not even counting the fact they can turn off all your TVs while holding a tape too.

Seems like an appropriate word to use for a situation when a person makes an incorrect statement purely as a reaction to a word they didn't understand in context.
Either way you're free to disagree, the fact you can't argue any further than that proves I'm right.
Sadako takes barely any skill to pick up and the fact she has such big killrates proves that. Her power's difficulty is dictated by survivors performance which makes her uber easy to play on beginner level and very difficult on master level.
That doesn’t make much sense - if she was that easy to pick up and do well with then her pick rate would be higher but she’s currently the 8th least played killer in the game.
-
@Ilikechips said:
Sadako has a 64.46% kill rate.
Sadako has a 61.37% win rate
Sadako has a 28.33% loss rate.
If you play sadako you will win or draw 71.67% of the time.
Sadako is baby mode easy to win with.
Yet here you are, crying for buffs.
i’m not agreeing with super buffing her as she does need counterplay, however she also has a low pick rate (1.5%) so these numbers are inflated by players who probably main her and play her a lot, rather than the average player.
She also does well against casual players who don’t understand her power or players who choose to ignore it and prioritise gens over tapes - against mid - high mmr players tho she’s weak in both chase and ability.
-
so there’s no mention of this bug being fixed in the latest patch notes for the ptb… do we think it will be for live release or left out again?
-
she’s strong against players (when played well) who completely ignore her ability but struggles greatly against experienced players, especially in chase which is why many sadako players won’t commit to long chases - this is why you will never see sadako played in a competitive environment.
i’d say shes C tier at best.
-
i DO think carrying a tape should have a risk, such as a status effect (eg. exposed after a certain duration of holding it) and ring drawing base kit if hooked with one - they are cursed after all but at the moment they only provide benefits for survivors.
-
it can be useful on sadako as she doesn’t make any sound when manifested if she’s undetectable - you just need to teleport to a tv that’s not too far from the person that’s oblivious.
-
@MechWarrior3 said:
I propose this to the devs.
Revert Sadako to 1.0 - keep the following changes.
*Keep the Reduced Tv cooldown times
*Cannot be stunned while demanifested
*Keep increased speed coming out of TVS.
*Stealth fixed and corrected from Patch 7.5.0
*Revert Yoichis fishing net back to 12% faster on passive condemn on tapes.
*Revert old ring drawing to give condemn upon heals only not slugs OR make current ring drawing base kit.
*Keep the Lock in condemn.
New - The Onyros lullaby has been dramatically increased in size from 24 meters to 45. OR reduce it to 18 meters.New - The Onyros TVs now turn on after 20 seconds. (Was 30)
(I feel like I am missing stuff?)these are all good 👍🏼
i would like to see them up the lock-in stacks to 4 and i actually wouldn’t mind if she had a map wide lullaby (like dracula in bat form) if they’re gonna keep it - at least it keeps survivors guessing where she might appear.
basekit reiko’s watch + old newspaper too (without the bugs😊)
-
I hope she gets some love too, it would be nice to see her going up a few tiers strength wise but I also have a feeling the devs aren’t really interested in her just now (which is also why i’m so keen for them to fix her demanifest bug in the meantime).
-
I’d like to see them keeping the QoL changes they a made to her last time around while helping her chase out - I think it would be cool if they allowed her to telepathically break pallets (like the anniversary offering) while making Reiko’s Watch & Old Newspaper basekit. I know we’ve often spoke about her being able to phase through dropped pallets and breakable walls too. I wouldn’t even mind if they toned down her condemned play style to allow this to 0.5 stacks per TP for a shorter tv cool-down.
Lore wise she’s one of, if not the strongest killers in the entity’s realm, it would be cool to see her play-style reflect that. She’s only really strong and viable against newer players or players that disregard her tapes ATM.
-
I feel like they just kinda gave up on her after her last update, despite there being lots of great suggestions and feedback to improve her from sadako players in the ptb feedback post. Also, the fact that her demanifest bug still exists since that ptb is pretty much confirmation of that.
-
They should have just left her alone until her rework was ready. People are just gonna DC/give up regardless of her playstyle because it's Skull Merchant.

There was a bug, where she was fully invisible and then she got kill switched. Couldn’t use it sadly.
the nowhere to hide bug right? they were quick with that one.

Too bad this bug affects you negatively :(
If it would benefit you even slightly It would get fixed within a week like Chucky scamper bug they fixed today :))
so true
if they doubled the invisibility duration instead of halving it, it would have been patched the following week no doubt.
-
it’s giving freddy at launch knee-jerk reaction patch.
-
Soo are we all surprised that another bugfix patch was released today without a fix for Sadako?
-
Honestly wouldn't waste your time trying to make them understand - they have a bias for survivor which made me lose interest in their (long) point a while ago. We know what the deal is.

Right? I’m kind of confused about the whole “it’s passive” thing. I’ve never heard anyone say that before, even back when the invisibility duration was 1 second.
Me either, and let's face it - most players (from what I've seen) that only play Sadako casually don't use her demanifest in chase to take advantage of it.

It is passive in that it automatically applies in the demanifested state. You don't press a"Sadako is now invisible" button. You just walk around and passively benefit from this while demanifested and you continue to benefit for a bit after manifesting. It's very similar to Spirit's passive phasing, but stronger over a shorter duration.
A survivor can't react to something they cannot see or hear. It would be better if it only applied when she was demanifested, but it lasts for four seconds after manifesting, which can and will give her free hits after manifesting with minimal effort; she can do a simple mindgame at a fortunate time and appear like 6 meters away from where you expect her to be.
I understand the devs intended to buff this and nerfed it instead. That's not good, but the correct decision would have been not to buff this in the first place, and instead to buff parts of her kit that require skill to get value. So, all's well that ends well, I suppose.
You still need to manifest to attack, so it requires specific timing and attention on the killer's side to use it effectively to get a hit - unlike Spirit who can just M1 while passively phasing.

I've already mentioned this from the ptb bug section
But the sadako bugs where her demanifest invisibility last about 0.7 seconds instead of 1.2
It's been a few weeks since I last made the post and yet nothing was done with the release of this update which could've been a rather quick fix especially since you did fix her sync issue from her invisibility

It's kinda disheartening to see all these things getting worked on when you have weaker killers like Sadako, who's demanifested invisiblity duration has been bugged for 10 months now with no ETA on a fix.

I know, I was specifically looking for it in the patch notes too but alas, nothing. I wish they’d at least acknowledge it and let us know it’s being worked on, it’s the only thing she has in chase and it’s indefinitely bugged.

No it was not addressed. Sadly. Some people in the community feel like it wont happen due to her "Kill rate" So they think they might leave the "bug" I hope they just fix it honestly since it was in the patch notes
That's disappointing, they should have left the Ring Drawing add-on bug if that's the case (or at least make it her Iri tape since the current one is worthless.
-
Was this bug ever addressed? I love using Reiko's Watch but don't want to if it doesn't give the correct effect.
-
I get the impression that after the last few updates we got for Sadako that she's no longer a priority for them. They no doubt have a schedule to adhere to and can't really veer away from it unless there's a bug.
There's a TON of feedback and suggestions for her on here that would make her better to play as and against that hopefully they read through and implement where necessary.
-
@Peanits said:
Thank you for the feedback everyone! We'll be unpinning this thread now, but please feel free to continue sharing your thoughts in this section of the forums.
Hi Peanits, can you confirm if Sadako is done for updates for now or are there more to come? Thanks.
-
me and my friends played against 2 onryo’s last night and we just ran around with tapes while she was in chase turning off her TVs and there was nothing she could do. her counterplay is wayyyy to easy with the tv auras visible and the 1 second tape animation.
-
She does feel nicer to play as and against after the last update so kudos to BHVR for trying, there’s still a few changes i’d suggest making :
Her chase is still weak, especially on maps like Eyrie, Garden, The Game etc where you just have to eat pallets. I would love to see her phase through dropped pallets / breakable walls, as well as further increase her passive phasing to help her mind game safer tiles or at least buff Reiko’s Watch again so we can choose to use chase add ons. Adding Old Newspaper into her basekit would also be a really nice QOL change, instead I would make Old Newspaper the current Iri Tape and grant extra BP.
Tapes - i’ve seen so many survivors turn off all the TVS to get themselves condemned then put the tape away in my face because the 1 second animation is so short. You’re pretty powerless in these situations and even if you do hook them there’s essentially no / little stacks of condemned to lock in. I’d revert the tape animation back to 2 seconds and bring back passive condemned for holding tapes. The TV auras are also unnecessary as long as you can see the TV you need to turn off.
Add ons - Iri tape feels next to useless, you’re essentially removing her strongest aspect (condemned) without much reward, especially as survivors can still turn off your TVs. This add on could easily be a brown add on for extra BP! I would revert Iri tape to the first version (that turns TVs back on) but possibly reduce the amount of TVs that turn on to make it fairer.
Visual heartbeat - this really hurts her demanifested / undetectable state. I do love the lullaby as it fits well for her character, perhaps a better change would be to make it map wide when she’s demanifested (like Chucky) so you never know where she might appear, or reduce the range of the lullaby.
Overall I appreciate BHVR for listening to the last round of feedback and hoping they add a few more tweaks to make her perfect!

I can confirm that it will not be today.
ok thanks.
-
is the patch due today? I'm sure they're normally on a Tuesday.
-
I've been playing her a lot since last week and it's just disappointing and sad to see what they've done to her.
Survivors are so cocky and confident against her now because she basically poses zero threat - tapes get put away in your face, TVs all get turned off denying your power, everyone carries tapes because there's very little risk involved, very little to help in chase, the visual heartbeat so being demanifested is useless. Overall, it's just a miserable playing experience and I can understand why players turn to killers like Blight, Wesker, Billy (now) and Nurse instead for a fair game.

Do you think the devs will read the feedback this time and do something with it? I‘m really depressed about what they did after the ptb, everyone said she was either ok or needed buffs and then this. They also said they will eventually gut other playstiles, when they are effective, which makes me think the rework was only there to gut her entirely.
Probably not - I think they just have this section so it looks like they're listening to their players but ultimately come up with their own internal decisions and ideas. I think this latest update is proof of that.

Having access to such high mobility can be 100% worth the trade off in the hands of a skilled Onryo. Its a teleport but unlike the other killers you mentioned, it has no cool-down and can be used at a will. With the proper adjustments so survivors can't just run around rapidly turning off every TV, it is 100% worthy of its place as a strong Iri-add-on that augments her power in a fun and unique way.
I know many Onryo players focus on her condemn pressure, but some of us also know how strong her old map pressure was and know how to take advantage of it. This add-on will be alright if BHVR fixes it so survivors can't abuse it.
Well it technically does have a cooldown, as the TVs will take 20% longer to turn back on if survivors take a tape and as there's no risk of being condemned, there's no downsides to them taking tapes all game and denying your teleports. You are right in saying that you don't have to play for condemns but it's also a built in slowdown without running a full gen regression build as it's a side objective to gens.
I love playing Sadako as a chase killer but I also enjoy the built in pressure / slowdown condemn applies, without this she's just an M1 killer with some map mobility and there's other killers that do that better IMO.
