  • I haven't touched the game for months now and all I can say is I have been enjoying so many other games on my steam deck.

Best decision I made. Not buying any more rifts, no more skins and spend so much time on a repetitive game that on top of that does not validate paying customer's concerns like we are actual adults and not some children.

Spent hundreds of dollars on it and invited people to it before. Now we don't even talk about this game anymore. The slap in the face with this issue has made us all bitter to even consider playing a match anymore.

I literally registered to comment on this thread. I used to play dbd on my ps4, but moved back to pc gaming after owning a steam deck. I have literally bought the game again and steam and now can't play.

I refuse to play on either console or any other machine till it's available on the steam deck.

This was my exact same situation. Played on switch, moved to stadia, and then to steam (deck). I bought ALL DLCS tons of skins and rifts and have now stopped playing the game altogether with my friends and we are playing other games we can all enjoy on our choice of consoles.

It feels like beating a dead horse at this point so i don't expect anything from behaviour now. I feel its too little to late I have no interest in it anymore. I hope the Texas chainsaw game is super successful and on the deck so we can all enjoy a game that listens to all paying players, its not like its a free game to begin with

  • Me an my friends all moved to other online competitive games.

Im baffled with the lack of professionalism on promising steam deck support and then sweeping it under the Rug!

I can imagine we are not the only ones dropping this game completely! Yikes!

Same, I stopped playing dbd for 6 months now, I'll continue this way. I won't give them a single cent anymore nor paying for the Epic Games version to use a workaround they can decide to ban me for.

    Just to be clear:

I'm not mad at Behaviour Inc. because they didn't give a ######### about Steam Deck/Linux. I'm disgusted by the way they did """"communicate"""" (lying) with us. I would have preferred a "NO, WE DON'T WANT TO SUPPORT THE STEAM DECK PLATFORM" instead of the hypocritical statement: “I can confirm that we plan on updating our EAC to support the Steam Deck in the future, but we can’t confirm a release date at this time” just to look iNcLuSiVe and KiNd like the propaganda they are pushing on twitter.

Same! Word of mouth is still as powerful as years ago specially with social media connecting everyone.

My friends and I have gradually moved to playing other online competitive games now and I feel we are getting over dbd. The lack of communication (REAL, raw and authentic) and not a canned responses has only fueled this feeling of dislike towards the game now. Matches are not fun anymore, seems like Whoever is creating this game doesn't even play it themselves. No heart into it anymore, its just a cash cow and it shows.

Simple things and empty promises not only piss people off which is what happened with me, but once it turns to disappointment its very hard to come back from it. You may say, you're just one person, but I had recommended the game to friends who got hooked on it before, forums, discord chats etc. Now I have NOTHING else to recommend to friends and I tell people to avoid it and am not even interested in talking about the game. Its plain out dead and now the skins, rifts, New characters create Zero excitement to me I just feel a huge meh. Reason I write this is to explain how something can be negatively impacted when there are empty promises made. Dont play with peoples emotions because it skills the game for them down deep.

  • @aragami said:

Hi @Mandy, could you please ask to the dev team if they are aware about the "SteamOS + HeroicGamesLauncher" workaround to play multiplayer matches on Steam Deck/Linux? And why is it possible to only play the EpicGames version of DBD but not the Steam one?

To get to the gist, if at BHVR are worried about "Linux cheaters" they are doing nothing to prevent this issue because it is playable from a linux platform with said workaround.

Hope to have better communication on this topic for the future either if it's a positive or negative report.

    Thanks for your attention

Cue up the canned response "unfortunately we have nothing to share at the moment"

  • I've dropped the game and have been enjoying hogwarts legacy and other games on steam OS.

I really hope the Texas chainsaw massacre ends up being amazing and works on steam deck.

I feel super let down by the lack of actual communication and support for the Steam deck, while seeing other games work with easyanticheat left and right. Ive stopped buying skins and dlcs for the game, skipping rifts and I will refuse to come back unless its under my os of choice.

Im afraid by the time they bring it to steam os, If ever, I Will have moved on to other games tbh just of how upset this whole situation has made me. Im sure I will not be the only one. From this moment on, Im officially what you call a "detractor" whom only has negative things to say about this game wether in person, forums, chats etc. Consider me one fan less.

Same here. Hope was restored when it worked for all of 3-5 days or whatever. I’ve since lost hope.. again. The way they (don’t) interact with the community is just disgusting. Spent over a thousand dollars on this game with chapters and cosmetics, and not to mention the nearly 3k hours I’ve put into it too. It’s sad that this means nothing to them. According to steam charts DBD playerbase is steadily declining, finally.

Same here. Bought it for switch and a lot of cosmetics, then stadia and all dlcs again, and now steam. I have stopped buying new things though.

I also sometimes comment on YouTube when I see people recommending games for the Steam Deck on sale etc and I make sure people know it does not work because of easyanticheat and I at least clarify for people before they make the mistake of buying this game and not be able to play it on deck.

This device is steadily increasing sales and the player base is pretty much adults, whod spend tons of money and not kids. I Dont know what the devs are thinking... Go figure.

  • Still in awe how, as a company you allow your team to announce support for something, let a year pass and have them repond with generic responses and feel that is acceptable...

I lost hope to be honest

  • Steam Deck just announced it will open orders on Asia in December. Dbd is losing all that Marketshare plus existing steam deck owners.

I skipped buying skins, this dlc and the rift. Imagine how many other people who are not in this forum are also skipping all content as well.

Specially during the season where online sales for the holidays had people spending tons of money. They're not getting the Bigger picture here.

Heck even Nintendo is scared of the potential of steam deck at this point lol.

  • Played a few matches yesterday and now its not working. Good thing I held off from buying the dlc and the new characters. Felt too good to be true and I wasn't wrong.

  • Its been a while since I haven't played the game and probably will continue this way.

I loved DBD and spent a TON of money, twice for that matter, since I left all my stuff from the switch for stadia and now was planning on moving to steam.

But the lack of support for the steamdeck is tiresome. The lentghy wait times to get a response, which when they do give one and has no real answer or details, the lack of communication from the team with their players, the zero interaction with the community (aside from their VIP fog whisperers and streamers) , makes me wonder if it's even worth my time and money.

Eversince I stopped playing, ive bought a ton of games from sites with bundles and discounted prices that work on the steam deck and skipped this dlc, skins and will not be buying the new killer or whatever characters come out from now on. Try some hidden gems, Zelda Is coming next year and other nice games are being ported to the deck. If our voices are just ignored, Im sure our pockets would talk louder if we all stuck together.

  • It's never gonna come to steam deck guys... What a disappointment

  • @AbsoluteLength said:

    Honestly, what is the deal?

Rule number one of any good games studio is communication. The radio silence is just off putting at this stage.

Steam deck has shipped 1 million+ units. That's a decent sized market to support alone, never mind Linux users in general like myself.

I switched to Linux after putting up with years of MS rubbish. Now I can't play one of the few multiplayer games I still enjoy and the developers/publishers/community managers just don't seem to care. If you didn't promise Steamdeck support it would be fine, We'd have to deal with it. But the fact you told us it would happen then just ignore it, is insulting. Let's not even get started on how easy it is to actually implement!

Forget the red tape and give us an update....

We are paying customers, some of use have spent hundreds on this game. At least respect us by giving us some type of update.

Completely agree with you. For me it shows such a lack of profesionalism to say something, not deliver, postpone things with no timeframe nor updates and continue as if nothing happened.

Gives me overwatch flashbacks and how Blizzard handled the whole mess and the playerbase was upset at the lack of info updates.

Steam Deck with Windows is such a terrible gaming experience I just decides not to boot Windows on it again and move on to play other games there. It takes you out of the entire experience and steals the magic of the whole handheld concept. Like your games cant live in the same OS and its very off-putting.

Having said that, I've realized I'm playing dbd more of a sporadic gaming experience and not dedícate so much time and money on it.

  • Which popular games don't work on the Steam Deck?

It's getting noticed by other websites for the lack of support on the Steam Deck... Hopefully it brings some attention for it to be prioritized

  • Easy Anti-Cheat support

Here is the easyanticheat website where we can specify and inquiere about Linux and specifically steam deck and mention it is not working.

Maybe if they get several reports they will try and work around the issue and we can finally enjoy dbd on steam os and not have to install windows, cause in all honesty it takes you out of the entire experience of games cause you have to boot separately to load the game.

  • I mean we could always leave a review with the score based on the steam deck lack of support and mention these concerns there as well

  • Postponing things for a few months is fine. Problem comes when it goes past a year, and there is no update or communication from the team.

Once we have more than two things they announce, back track or procastinate on fixing it starts looking bad.

    * We were promised cross progression for console and pc.

    * Then they said only switch but no timeline. How long has it been?

    * We were told steam deck support would come but just not on launch. One year later still no update or info of progress or what is holding it back.

    * Then account merging was disabled, and no update had been given until we got the stadia closing news.

Good things have been done and people are happy about it, but the lack of communication with the community about the other stuff is an issue.

  • Guys does commenting about any issues here actually do anything? It feels like we are just being ignored... I give up..

  • I think if we had constante communication and updates from the developers it would help understand the situation and we could wait knowing whats going on.

But going mia and ignoring their own forums about players concerns, for months, to me says alot. I believe thats the problem with situations like these.

  • What's sad is that there has been no official update about this situation on their website or social media. Where's the communication?

Like can they actually tell us exactly what is the issue, intention to work on it and timeframe?

Saying something will come and just forgetting about it or making no mention for months or years is just disappointing.

Does it actually though? I want to get a Steam Deck mainly for DBD on the go (it runs too horrible on Switch). Can anyone else confirm DBD runs bad with Windows on the Steam Deck please? Don't want to just throw away £450.

Dbd through Windows on the Steam Deck, if you're planning on just doing handheld is OK as it runs 720p 60fps more or less.

Problem comes when trying to dock it and play on your TV etc. Its too glitchy.

Windows doesn't feel as superior at all compared to when you run games on steam OS. Its an alternative but it should not be the primary way of playing dbd on the deck. Its underwelming.

SteamDeck is VERY solid and is worth every penny. You will love it.

Updates for the status of dbd on steam OS would help us know if they are actively looking into it. I wonder how Apex Legends got their EAC working quite soon though.

I still put money into the game because I love it, I have 5500h, I have to stay with windows on the steam deck at home, I can play dead by daylight, please BHVR, give us support for the steam deck..I would love to be able to play it on steam deck without windows

I installed Windows just to test dbd on the steam deck. The experience is very unpleasant specially when trying to play docked on the TV. Audio running through the deck and not the TV. Image losing quality and frames.

If this was my first time playing the game I would have gotten such a bad first impression cause its a pain in the butt.

1 million steam decks sold would create a profit if 100k of those became new dbd players buying rifts skins etc. Take a page from skyrim theres a reason why that game is still selling well

  • @Darkpriest667 said:

Just for the money comment. I will never have windows on a machine in my household again. That's 4 customers you're losing. I will not buy another product and certainly no DLC from this company until this is fixed.

The SDK exists. It would take minimal effort, heck you can hire me for a day and I'll implement it into the code.

Same. I've decided to not spend any money on cosmetics or dlcs anymore, if I cant play a game in a console of MY choice.

It's sad we just get with statements like "we are working on it indefinitely or no estimated time for release". NO TIMEFRAME? . When you have no release date for something, it just means it will be sitting in a backburner with no intention of working on it.

How long as it been since these were announced and nothing has been spoken of?

    * Nintendo switch cross progression

    * steam deck support

  • I got my steam deck recently and ive just stopped playing dbd at this point. Not being able to play in the console of my choice is just disappointing. Its been ONE YEAR. let that sink in.

Been playing other games like Apex who fixed their EAC right of the gate and it works amazing on it. Even overwatch 2 works without the need for Windows, granted, with some minor fidgeting.

  • I once read a comment about the reason as to why BHVR has not emphasized allowing DBD on the steam deck and in all honesty I think they might have been right.

It all comes down to money. Think about it. People that own the game on steam will not need to purchase it for the Steam Deck thus not generating any new income for the company.

Its sad but I legit think this is their way of thinking. How can they make more money instead of, how can they allow people to play and have better gaming experiences.

Its not like there's not already tons of cheaters in the game already for them to be so worried and not do anything about EAC for Linux.

A big downside is the cross progression merge has been broken for about 2 months now. I used Stadia to play until I had money to build a pc and fortunately synced the accounts before it broke, but I have a friend doing the same thing and he can't sync his stadia progress to steam because the cross progression merge has stayed broken.

Stadia wasn't very good but it was serviceable for those wanting to play M&K but without a gaming pc.

Omg Im in this exact same situation.

I moved from switch to stadia, had to grind all the progress again for survivors p3 for all perks, new rift and skins from prime gaming, thinking when I could afford a pc id be able to have my stuff on steam and now I cant merge my progress cause it has been disabled for 2 months with no update as to when its getting fixed.

Lets hope they are fair with us for trying out a service and support our cross progression if not, it would be exactly the opposite of what they promised and encouraged people to try a service thinking it would sync.

  • @Krazzik said:

    People actually played on Stadia?

Yeah. I began playing it on the switch with my friends, moved into stadia using a Chromecast cause I read about the cross progression so I thought to play on stadia and when I could afford a pc id transfer my progress. My friends and I played on stadia. Now I have my pc with steam but cant get my progress so ive had it pending until they fix cross progression they disabled since July. No update or anything from bhvr though.

  • Yeah Im also concerned since I bought dbd on stadia a second time after they said no Nintendo switch cross progression. I lost my hrs and skins but I grind all survivors to p3 on stadia, purchased rifts and skins with the intention of cross progression to steam when I could afford my pc and now that I have it, the merging has been not working for 2 months with no update as to how this will be resolved.

  • I am also concerned about this, but my issue is that I linked my stadia account but have not merged it and now cross progression has been disabled for over 2 months and Im worried all the grind ive done to be lost.

I played on the switched and left all progress and skins for stadia thinking when I had the money id transition it to steam and keep my stuff.

Doing this a third time would not ve fair and very anticonsumer if I lost all my stuff tbh. Hope behaviour says something about this.

  • Im actually a Stadia player and I did it solely cause I was on switch and wanted to move to steam but at the moment all I could afford was a Chromecast.

I thought I could later sync my progress, but the merge option for cross progression has been disabled for 2 months now.

I levelled all my survivors to prestige 3, and my rift skins etc.

I already started from scratch after the switch cross progression was put on hold so I grind again on stadia and would suck if I had to grind one more time to unlock all my progress a third time.

I hope BVHR does something about the cross progression and doesn't ignore us Stadia playeros. I love the game but I would not grind and accept losing hundreds of hours into the game to start over.
