  • Not really, I was just confused and wanted to know why it is like that.

Well another big problem in this forum is that many terms aren´t fix.

My favorite example for this is one of my few Killer games as Chucky.

I had three Survivors on death hook so I got 6 hooks total but I couldn´t find the last survivor. So I took some time to find her while the rest of the team was resetting. I found her and hooked her for the first time. She got unhooked, healed and I came back to hook. Taking another chase with her to get to 8 hooks. She gets down, DS me and goes down 10 seconds later. So I got my eight hook. Before she gets unhooked I sacrifice someone else and down another Survivor. She stands under hook pointing at the hook I down her and end the game with 11 hooks.

    Great game for me.

But the chat after the game was fire.

The whole team was telling me that I should unalive myself because I dared to tunnel her out of the game as fast as possible and I should really learn to play Killer.

    I was completly buffled.

So we need a fix term of what tunneling really means. If you go twice for the same Survivor at the end of the game. Is this really toxic tunnleing?

Or we just stop caring about these survivors who will complain about anything. You played as fairly as you could and should not let others decide whether you should feel good about the game or not.

  • Thank you! Glad to see that DBD is as glitchy and bugged as ever :D It's part of the charme.

If you talk about Skill… are all Killers allowed?

Remember the Skill gap between Trapper and Nurse.

Survivors would need some base game things or you have a full Slug Party for 4 Minutes or Camping on demand (if you remember the last Chaos Shuffle it was free tunneling cause no perks.)

Nurse needs skill because you have to hit your blinks.

Trapper needs LACK of skill from survivors because you rely on them messing up.

    Let the downvote commence.

  • We can't tell you what you should buy, except maybe watch videos of killer gameplay and get the one where you think "I want to do exactly that!"

  • You don't need to play Bubba to get value from him. He has nice perks.

Apparently, you like fast killers. Demo, Springtrap and Xeno all play similar in that they teleport around through portals and have a moderately ranged attack. With Pyramid Head, you need to manage where you are going because he has no mobility and your perks have to buy you time.

  • Two ways to solve this problem:

    a) Make every perk, item and add-on use up a certain amount of "loadout cap" depending on its power, or

    b) Offer a way to trash unused bloodweb items into something new. Either one-time effects similar to offerings, or actual random offerings that can only be obtained that way. Or maybe unlock a skin for ONE match. Might actually push skin sales if a player gets used to a skin and runs out of items to buy it every match.

Survivors have less passive ways to farm haunts. It's much easier and faster to collect it on killer, and while some gen kick and simple attention can counter value of cristalls on gens/fog, killer getting much more value from his passive powers. It's basically as same as in last masquerade event. Some “bully” “annoying” potential from survivor passives and whole straight buff for killer.

It's impossible to completely balance around it, but why it can’t actually be neutral territory where both sides showing direct chase skill and can’t rely on their bonuses? To earn even more bonuses later outside the void. At least hindered status that can be applied on survivors for no reason just because of poor RGN was too much

WDYM? Survivors farm it by doing gens. It can't get more passive than that.

If "simple attention" can counter the crystals, you aren't using them right. Of course, if you use them for running away while you are injured and wonder why the killer is still following you, that's just not helping there. But use it to make them miss that ONE important swing to get out, and it's gold.

I'm gonna be honest, they absolutely pay for bots to inflate player numbers lmao All those "players" yet I run into the same accounts every other match no matter what time and day, whether I'm Surv or Killer or switch between both in a play session. That should not be happening in a game with this many "players".

Maybe there are not a lot of players on your server in your MMR? I barely recognize any names during my sessions.

The Resident Evil is a complex one. Because it is a survival horror and "gunning the monsters" was implemented as a "change of style" in later installments in the game. I can see why people that see the new Resident Evil games feel like it is more of a shooter than a horror, but the first three at least where about not having enough ammo, horror and survival.

I didn't mean the later games in particular. Even in the earlier games, the player was a "doer", proactively fighting against the monsters. He was expected to succeed. Resident Evil was never about horror to me, not more than Castlevania, which in my eyes was the worst possible Dracula version they could have included. Castlevania uses characters and imagery from a classic horror theme (Dracula) and sieves it through the "everything is rad and cool"-filter of video games, losing the horror vibe.

Horror is about helplessness, facing the unknown without a safe plan to fall back upon. Being the hero wielding a weapon that solves the problem disqualifies any franchise from being horror.

You could argue that you also have a weapon in Silent Hill, but the horror there does not come from the threat of the monsters but from the "human monster", the dark secrets of the protagonist (in Silent Hill 2, at least, where Pyramid Head is from). It isn't the hero's objective to bring an enemy down, it is facing his own darkness and ultimately there is no happy end; the best you can achieve is surviving and coming to terms with the dark past.

  • None.

Don't get me wrong, I don't know many of these options, but I'm not a big fan of including the "wrong" Pop Culture franchises. Mainly, characters that don't really are "horror". D&D is not horror, Resident Evil is arguably not horror as you are the hero gunning down enemies and its style doesn't fit the game. Silent Hill IS horror, by contrast.

Tokyo Ghoul, being an anime, had me wondering, but they made Kaneki's looks fit the game. Still hate playing against him.

  • steamdb_chart_381210 (1).png

No, DBD is not dead just because you are losing interest.

If the game stresses you out, play something else for a while. I heard from a reliable source that Civilization is a very good game.

  • It also speeds up gen progression because the killer ALSO wants to farm haunts and beat pumpkins. No difference in that regard.

They did broken and exhausted for survivor, idk why it’s impossible to make same for killers. I would genuinely be curious about seeing 115% Nurse or other killer with no power. Some killers are pretty limited already - you can't get condemn as Onryo, Myers fishing with portals doesn't really a thing anymore

Because if one survivor is hunted by the killer in the void, there are three more survivors out there doing gens. If two survivors go to the void, and they are NOT broken, the killer had to follow them in order to not have them heal each other without any danger, and to do that he would have to give the rest free reign. Fleeing to the void has to have a downside.

  • Otz did a video partly about this a little time ago, and I agree with his take: Merge weaker perks so we have fewer, and the weaker ones get stronger so they are worth a slot again.

Another idea (not from Otz) would be to assign each perk a rating, and if your equipped perks stay below certain thresholds, you get some kind of reward during or after the game. Extra pip when you escape, bonus BP, a random item at start, a random fifth perk, see the killer aura at game start … anything to make players consider not taking the strongest perks.

  • @Royval said:

Power creep is slowly making playing certain killers completely pointless :) Uroboros is somehow less effective than spit.

Good. Somehow, Wesker's VA lines make me aggressive. I'd take a Krasue over this "too cool to lose" Resident Evil guy any day.

  • Krasue = killer in dbd

Krause = name of an infamous German handyman on TV

Also: "Wah, a RANGED killer? Are you insane? Just give the killer a gun already, nobody is going to play this ######### game anymore!" - every survivor when Huntress dropped

  • @rysm said:

You're a star for putting this together. Should do a "Stats" series and i'd be here for it lol

I'm currently working on a "how often is each killer encountered" long time statistic that will finish December 31st :D But as I never climb above silver rank, it's only valid for low-level MMR. Spoiler: Huntress leads, and the months when Ghoul and Animatronic were released those killers went through the roof. Lowest are Freddy and Demo with only one single encounter each this year so far. Yes, even Houndmaster and Sadako are more frequent.

I originally started it in July 2024, but doing it January to December would make more sense, especially since I had a few months with almost no matches.

  • I hope we will get NO emotes (I'm all for making communication only through game mechanics), but purchasable moris? Why not!

  • Also, before a week or so ago, it was really rare for me to see no BP bonus for the survivor queue; during the last few days, the bonus disappears regularly, which means more players queue up as survivor than before, compared to killers.

  • I changed the order of columns a little, hope it helps.

It might be a regional thing. I have seen barely any Russian in my matches of all time. And also russian toxicity only really exists in counter strike because its a staple over there. I don’t think that the dbd community is nearly as toxic as it’s made to seem. And there are far more benefits to in game chat than one con. That being some people may use it for flaming. Which is an issue that can easily be solved by implementing punishments for chat abuse and adding a mute button. Personally i wouldnt care that one teammate will call me a noob only to be never heard of again afterwards because i muted them.

Your ping system idea sounds good to me. it’s not as powerful as talking but it may work better for the general DBD playerbase than an outright text/voice chat.

I could send you a few screenshots I pasted into ChatGPT to have it translate the chat to me ;)

Cant really run from her as her head form catches up too quickly. Just have to stay at loops i guess?

Her head dash has a charge bar so it's not infinitely usable and after stopping she has a delay before she can act normally.

Survivors just don't even try. I was playing her the other day and used exclusively M1 on Pale Rose, got a 3k and was raged on from the survivors afterwards for playing her. Never transformed, never spewed.

(here's another post for you all to mass downvote)

I believe people just need to play against her differently from what they are used to.

    How?
What exactly can solo survivor do against her?

I have no idea. If I had, I would make Youtube videos about my matches.

But people complained about Huntress, and now they are fine. People complained about Bubba, and now they are fine. They even complained about Pig. Players always complain when a new killer enters the stage that needs a new playstyle to go up against.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

in game chat = survivors can communicate in game using added text and/or voice chat

would it break dbd or be a huge step to a better game long-term for all players?

I'll be honest: Judging by the aftergame chat, we would hear nothing but Russian all game long. Case in point: Any FPS game with ingame voice chat.

Also, I expect you to play the game, not type and flame during the match. Nonverbal communication is a big part of the game.

  • To clarify that, it's easier to first look at what the survivors' objective is: To finish gens, open the gates and escape.

The killer's objective is to prevent that. If that means slugging is necessary, it's necessary.

    However, it usually is not.

Deathgarden was so heavily survivor-sided that I played two matches and never touched it again. If, in game with that name, survivors swarm the "killer" and stunlock him after only DAYS of the game being playable, that's a problem.

Deathgarden went through a few different versions so not sure which one you played. I played Bloodharvest and while the Hunter took a few games to get the mechanics down, they were the much stronger role, though the version before that was very different.

Also though, not even the point I was discussing. It wasn't about strength of the roles, it was about the 'kindness of players' and that Deathgarden had a mercy mechanic were killers were expected to let scavs back up instead of killing them in return for more points.

The problem is just that instead of tweaking the basics, they make increasingly powerful but boring killers. How many Houndmasters, Vecnas, Draculas or Chuckys have you seen lately? Because they are boring.

And how many Trappers, Hillbillys, Spirits, Onis, Doctors? Because they are weak.

The only old killer that is good AND fun AND fair is Huntress.

You're combining fun and strong which makes it harder to discuss, but you're saying Billy and Spirt are weak?

    Let me rephrase that:

Billy and Spirit have a very high skill ceiling, making them good when the killer player is good, and terrible if the player has not practiced them a lot. They are powerful, but hard to pick up because you need a lot of experience with them. Unless you focus on mastering them or play really a LOT, they are weak (in your hands).

I have been playing DBD since pre-nurse, but never really touched Billy, back then I played mostly Trapper. Yesterday I took a swing at him. It took me several matches until I realized that he is basically unplayable without the Counterweight add-on, and that's just pre-game decisions. Misuse their powers one times too often, and you lose the match with no comeback because it costs you so much time and can end you up in the wrong corner of the map.

  • I believe people just need to play against her differently from what they are used to. It was the same for Huntress when she came out, everyone was "a RANGED killer?" and whining all day about how unfair that is. Now she is considered one of the most fun and balanced killers and leader of any #played statistics.

  • @tes said:

She is boring to play. What’s the point of learning infection projectile with auto aim when u have unknown where u actually can experiment with it? What’s the point of switching forms when Dracula’s or Lich’s power provide more interesting gameplay? What the point of her dashes when some Wesker or Chucky has more variable one?

She has so much from different killers and so little at the same time.

People playing her for her strength mainly, or they really obsessed with her design. She can be fun first few hours, at least I felt like this, after this returned to my main

The irony is that all those killers you mentioned are a rare sight too, even Wesker who was everywhere for months after he came out.

Relying on a players kindness to not employ tactics easily available to them is atrocious game design.

Agreed, unfortunately its BHVR's philosophy that they can't seem to let go of. Deathgarden was even worse.

And I’m sorry to break it to you but that “QOL” update isn’t coming, maybe you get a watered down near useless version by 2027 like the anti camp meter.

Then I'll stick to the special event modes. I don't have anything in the way of expectations at this point and am patient enough to wait until it comes or move on if it doesn't.

Deathgarden was so heavily survivor-sided that I played two matches and never touched it again. If, in game with that name, survivors swarm the "killer" and stunlock him after only DAYS of the game being playable, that's a problem.

Let's face it, if you play killer, you expect to be in the power position, and as survivor, your actual survival should be an uphill battle. The game (DBD) is now in a state where it should have been years ago, favoring the killer.

Because they are weak.

krasue its just brain off and win

Pretty much… not the case. That would be ghoul.

  • The game has 40(?) killers now, why constrain yourself to playing only five of them? It's a game, not the Olympics.

Why would you play anything other than the best rated video games? Because playing something different is fun. That's why you play more than one Soulslike, more than one Metroidvania, more than one puzzle game. Not because you can't decide which of them is the best, but because you like variety.

  • I liked the blood pump mechanic that was in a recent event: Fill a bucket at a pump station and fill a gen with it, several tours needed to finish it. For non-events, it could just be a jerry can and the gen has to be filled AND repaired, make repair a bit faster to compensate for that.

The problem is that sitting on an generator is static and as long as the killer is not coming near you because the one he is chasing runs towards you, you just sit there and are never in danger. With the pumps you had to move.

  • @SoGo said:

I feel like the issue with Haddonfield is, well, the map itself.

It's really easy to win on as killer.

I have the opposite experience, I regularly escape as survivor and get more 0k than 4k as killer.

  • Exactly the same here.

  • All talk about distance etc. aside, he is ridiculously powerful and easy to play. I just played him for the first time and probably my 5th-or-so killer match in the last 6 months, and I got a 4k with two gens left, and I don't even think I fully understood his ability chain. Yes, he is fun to play, but playing against him feels like you are playing against Wesker and Deathslinger at the same time.

    So… just don't spend them?

  • @TheTom20 said:

I did 14 games as survivor an 11 of those every gen was done an i escaped out the gates on 10 of them.
As long as people are on gens it seems you can escape.
i found the only games that went badly you had to have bad survivor rng, exceptional, killers an for pretty much almost or every survivor player to make mistakes for the killers to have a chance of winning.

Yes I escaped 4 out of 5 games on the first day too, that was before killers learned to play together. After that, I felt like I was a rabbit hunted by a pack of wolves, not one of eight survivors working together to do gens against two killers.

Killer in 2v8 plays differently from 1v4. You have to apply a lot more map pressure because if each killer hunts one survivor, there are not 3 but 6 survivors left doing gens. However, if you work together, you can keep them running, herd them into a corner and score hits left and right.

  • I find Wraith to be the most problematic killer in this mode because it is so hard to notice him cloaked with all that hubbub going on around you, plus you can't listen for heartbeat and know if he is cloaked or uncloaked. He practically always spawns directly next to me while I am doing other stuff.

  • The challenge of the same name in tome 16-3 (hook 6 in basement) is also bugged.

  • I started playing again specifically because Xeno came out and didn't have a single game against it yet. Came here because I was wondering what was going on because various streamers and YT-creators said it was a strong killer; and while I am sure equally many said the opposite, it should mean it's not trash.

I think BHVR is scared that an FOV slider would be abused in some way, or could potentially be modified client side for malicious intent, but even then, I feel like it is something that should be added by now.

I also think it would be nice to add some visualized sound effects for Killer since we really need more stuff for deaf players (and being forced to play just Survivor to have access to settings is lame overall, you paid for the game and only really get to play half of it).

    Not this again.

The game challenges your senses by its very concept. You can't make it accessible for impaired players without drastically changing the experience for everyone else.

  • If you repair yourself into an unwinnable 3-gen, you lost by your own choices, just like when the killer defends only the center and suddenly all three last gens are on opposite ends of the map. They are undefendable and he lost by his own choices made.

The knight by itself is bad for the game, period. His power alone created this fringe scenario because he can deny a zone for so long.

  • I just did some quick math and I probably have spent around 130-150 million BP, in TOTAL, since the game came out. I could never pour all that into a single character, so I recommend your dedication.
