I've been playing survivor for a long time, and recently I've been playing killer a lot more often. I used to think some things were sorta annoying, like spirit and some underpowered killers that were boring to go against. But now I am kind of bummed to see how easy killer is. Whenever I play blight, my chases last only a few seconds. When I play trapper, all I have to do is trap shack and some dingus will run into it. All you have to do to win is put on 3 slowdown perks and barbeque or something and you'll win nearly every game as long as your not stupid. I just used to think killer looked complicated but in reality it's so easy. On another note, I don't know why anyone would face camp if the game were this easy. Never understood why people do that.

'All you have to do to win is put on 3 slowdown perks'

Weird idea - try without. I use max 1 slowdown (mostly none). I know, ruin/pop is like the holy grail at the moment. So many are running it. But if you complain about Killer being too easy, really just put them off. If you are good as a killer, you won't need them. Also strong killers like e.g. Nurse/Blight/Spirit are just overkilling it with slowdowns.

Id rather rip my own hair out and eat it then BUFF dead hards distance when one of its main complaints is that its used for distance

I agree. I'd rather have the i-frame stay and the distance being reduced.

Give players an in-match incentive for playing in a "sportsmanlike" manner. Camping/Tunneling/Slugging are tools to be used, so they should not be prevented.

    Devotion:

    • Hooking Survivors different from the last Hooked grants Devotion.
    • Reaching 6 Devotion allows you to Kill a Survivor that has reached the final stage of Sacrifice by your own hand.

Only outlier IMO is slugging for an extended period of time, which is why I would suggest a watered down Unbreakable basekit:

    Dying:

    • Players can recover past the 95% threshold at a 2000% penalty (2.5% healing speed). (32s)
    • Self-Recovering from the dying state causes the Broken status for 120s.
    • Unbreakable/No Mither/Soul Guard prevent the Broken status and function normally. (No Mither just applies the Broken status again...)

I am wondering. Could that watered down unbreakable work? Thinking about situations where you want to use a slug as pressure so another Surv has to pick them up instead of doing a gen. Would even one Surv go and pick the slugged one up if they know it will take a bit but the slug can pick themself up? I remember I got kept on the floor for less by teammates :x

And what about those killer who are slugging the last person, camping and bm-ing them. It won't help with that I think.

It would fix the slugging for the 4k though (bled out yesterday while the killer searched for last person, totally not annoying xD).

Guess it could also work with Oni because people should have an incentive to pick up fast to not end up with a 4-people down, but I don't know much about Oni and the maximum duration of their power and if they would be harshly affected by that.

The devotion thing sounds interesting, but I feel a mori as reward won't be enough to give a nice incentive for playing in a sportmanlike manner. It would make the mori offering kinda obsolete as well. Wouldn't they go back to be an indicator for 'toxic killer', who want to get the mori even with camping/tunneling? They would need another rework or get removed completely (only yellow mori would make sense to be kept then I guess).

I say this mainly out of spite for the people responsible for my distaste in the previous comment, but, toxicity is just so prevalent in Survivors. Entitlement is almost innate to half of today's Survivor mains. Now, those 'people responsible' were a bunch of sfws who full-on exploited the fact that I need to run cross-play to land a match, as I play on Xbox in Australia (I legitimately cannot find a match otherwise). Given the state of console at the moment, I was running into freeze frames almost every second, lagging consistently, and I could hardly even see the game while playing Huntress for the first time -- who I've held off on playing for many years now simply due to the fact that I never fancied a hatchet-throwing hunter. Yet, I tried, and despite persevering and somehow landing about seven hatchets and two hooks in that match, even given the fact that I genuinely couldn't see, I was treated to a hate fest afterwards as message after message came through with kids misspelling the words 'worst' and 'killer'... Yeah. I was called the 'worst killer' by a bunch of kids who were nearly obliterated by me even while I was suffering through unforgivable spikes of lag and freezing... and that's my problem.

Some survivors are just embodiments of the intrinsic toxicity in this hateful-as community... and when you get a full-on entitled one, it just ruins your day... it's a game. Why can't people see that? But yeah, this has been more of a rant and I see your points. My apologies for this reply... just got to vent sometimes, I guess. I'm usually a ton more formal, but... desperate times call for desperate measures? I don't know... thanks for your input :)

I feel you. Had these days a game where I had a 9 hook game with 3 survs escaping. Those Survs were so salty afterwards calling me boosted rank 5 killer (was literally first game after rank reset) and were pretty mean. I guess I should be sorry for playing fair.... I don't understand behaviour like that at all. I thought that most Survs want to have a fair experience but then they jump on a killer who does that and attack that one verbally? This is also just a recent example, there are many many more. I am not suprised that more and more killerplayer are jumping on the toxicitytrain if they get treated like that after a fair match.

I don't want to imply that it is the main or only reason why killers are doing that. There are definitely black sheeps among them and numbers are rising with the grow of the playerbase. There also seems to be a toxicity-spiral. One side has a toxic match -> their next match will be played toxic by them with s1 who has nothing to do with the previous issue and then they will go to their next match with a toxic gameplan - and so on. Ofc this is just a feeling but I've seen people be like 'next match I won't play fair anymore, screw the other side' (who knows, maybe my resistance might be gone at some point too).

    As for the topic:

It seems to be really hard to come up with an idea which could work against tunneling/camping/slugging. I know that there was a long time ago a try, but it got abused hard by Survs. I guess that's why people will say 'It will be abused' as soon as they see just a tiny little hole, because it seems just to be in the nature of humanity to abuse where it's possible.

I don't know what people think who use these tactics in a very unsportsmanlike way. Do they care about BP? Do they care about rank? What do they care about? Do they care at all? Because if they don't care about anything but laughing their butt off the known misery of the other person, then I doubt there is much one can actually do to stop it.

Also the tactical use in high ranks needs to be looked at. How to distinguish between normal tactic and unsportsmanlike behaviour. Try to remove it completely and change something within the game to make up for high rank players?

I feel this subject is really complex.

I am curious about any ideas people can come up with. I certainly won't be able to get one as I am not creative enough and think too nicely to see any backdoors.

I'm glad your experience has been better, but there are people in this thread who've had very expensive PC's and still had issues.

That's why I said that there has to be more to it.

If you meet the minimum requirement, you should be able to play it without issues. No matter if you meet them just on point or meet them many times over. I wonder if it has to do with specfic technologies used in some parts. Would be interesting to gather some data in that regard. Which setup is used in each occasion and if there might be some which are more likely to produce that issue than others.

They really should communicate their current progress and maybe some planned timeline. That would help a lot. But I guess they won't give out too much information, if any at all :c

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2150767#Comment_2150767

    PC isn't any better off.

Only extremely expensive high-end PC's run DBD well. Affordable PC's don't.

I tend to disagree with that statement that only extremely expensive high-end PC's can run DbD well.

I was playing DbD on a PC from 2012 upgraded with an NVIDIA GTX 960 4GB (from 2015 I think). No problems. A friend of mine got that said PC from me when I renewed my parts (besides Graphic Card) and also encountered no problems.

So from my perspective the statement is just wrong and can't be generalised like that. There have to be some other reasons why the game won't run smoothly.

I hope the reason will be found somehwhen near in the future and is going to be fixed. Seeing how many people seem to be affected even on PC I feel like I am being blessed to far with having no issues at all.

  • That really depends on the person. For me and I'd guess for many other people as well, DbD was a horror game while starting off. Not knowing how strong the Survivorrole can be, being in constant fear of getting caught by the killer and unable to really escape.

  • @RiskyKara said:

The other day after everyone escaped the killer made a comment about "Oh man I get so flustered when going against a SWF."

    I blinked, "What? I don't know these #########."

We just played well so they assumed it was a 4-man SWF. To be fair a total random DID give me a flashlight save. I wonder how often people aren't SWF but are accused of it because they play really well.

I think that happens a lot. Haven't played Surv in month (if playing DbD I tend to play Killer) and am currently sloooowly going back up in ranks and I got a few very nice teamworkmatches along the way by now. Most were in green tbh. Killer went in at least half those matches "I wish I could turn swf off" or smth similiar towards the subject swf. I was every time solo and most of the time the others wrote "#########, I am solo" as well. Given they said the truth it actually happens a lot.

Slightest sight of any teamwork and it's supposed to be swf.

  • I would say - the main objective of the killer is to not let the Survivors escape. It's not just simply "kill". So if I had to chose whom to give a win to if the Survivors are not doing their objective at all and the Killer is hindering Survs from escaping - it would be the Killer. I mean why would anyone give the win to a side which is not doing their objective?

If Survivors are playing ONLY stealthy (means touching no gen at all) - they do not deserve a win in my opinion.

Even with tracking perks it can be tedious and near to impossible finding Survivors. I mean, if you have 4 people like that which are not progressing the game in any way, idk. I really think they do not deserve any win whatsoever. They also are not effective. They have not done ANYTHING to escape. I don't care if they survived so far. They were useless and inefficient.

Being stealthy while progressing the game normally is no issue - just to make that clear.

I remember having a game with old hatch mechanic where the hatch would only spawn for the last Survior if at least 2 Gens were done. Gencount was 4 and there was only 1 Survivor left. Was going for the Adept Huntress back then (means I had no whispers available). It took me AGES to find the last Survivor. I have a policy to never DC but that was taking so long, I considered it. Found the last Survivor crouching with Urban Evasion at the outer edge of the map.

I would totally be up to the idea that the game would end if for a specific amount of time nothing happened. I don't know which approach would be the best though. If it's like 'if no Surv was touching a gen in the last 5 mins the Match will automatically end with the Killer winning' or more like 'if there wasn't done a gen in the last 15 minutes the Match will automatically end with the Killer winning' or something different. But the condition must be basically game hostage. The only thing I can think of, where a Killer can keep all Survs game hostage is, if all Survs where in the basement and the Killer just blocked the way up. Or maybe that one room on the Saloonmap.

On the contrary though - how often does it happen. For me it was just 2 times in nearly 1k hours of Dbd. Once was the one described and the other one were 2 Survs on Haddonfield who did not try to get the last gen but rather be stealth and probably were hoping for each other to be the one not been found first. So I rather would see more of the bugs getting fixed than any idea to prevent such a playstyle implemented at the moment.

Also to a comment before - 'The survivors didn't even cause the 3 gen. He just forced it from the start of the match.' I would say it would be totally the Survivors fault. At the start you have all 4 Survivors left. If you can't pressure at least 2 of those 3 Gens, then the Survivors failed miserably. The way it was written it even sounded like it was known from the start that the 3Gen was forced. As long as you have enough people to do gens, a 3Gen is not too bad. It's annoying but ultimately the Killer won't be able to keep it (at least I have not seen an unbeatable 3gen with enough Survs left).

  • I am not a fan of that idea either.

I heard and read quite often that DbD Mobile has a bot jumping in for the DC'ed player. That might be a much better idea. Could do that as well if someone kills themself on hook the first time they got hooked (like 3 free attempts + no struggle).

In the end there won't be a nice solution for that szenario.

  • Steam likes to disagree.

Other than that you might be right :p

  • Definitely nope xD

Got the achievement for both side reaching Rank 1, but I certainly do not belong there for either role.

Surv: Still don't know many maps sufficient enough to run the Killer efficient enough. Might be purple though, can't really measure my own skill :x

Killer: I am only good with some, good meaning I would place myself confidently into purple. Most Killers though I would say I am middle to high green. But yeah...hard to rate myself.

  • "And almost all competitive games has option to play in ranked or casual, its not a problem. Casual games should be for fun (maybe less awarding bps will do), and competitive is for serious play."

    This here is the problem.

This is not really an e-sport competitive game. So imo it doesn't need different queues. People are making fun of so called Tournaments, as there is no perfect balancing possible between matches - even on same maps. Tile spawning can sometimes decide between win or loss (Team A gets a nice spawn and get's a 4 ppl escape, Team B get's unlucky with a bad spawn and get's just bc of that only a 1 person hatch escape). Getting a "wrong" map with a Killer can give one also a huge disadvantage.

There is no way one could balance a 'Ranked' Queue. It would need a complete overhaul, deactivating some items, addons e.g., Events shouldn't be available on it either, as one knows, eventitems or objectives can screw with a match as well.

I really think two queues are a bad idea.

  • They activated it some time ago but it was not working properly so they turned it off.

Since they havn't said anything I doubt it is on again.

The killer were locked before they enabled the MMR-System (~ 1 week) and will now stay as that probably to let the system collect data in the background further.

  • In general, the spirit could have been rank 1 and not played after rank reset until now. (I know I havn't played since rank reset)

Overall I do not see a huge flaw here. It's not like rank 18 Killer got destroyed by red ranks. I did not see the game nor do I know more about the spirit. Did she have a bad game and plays normally better? Did the Survs play really good? There are too many unknowns.

It’s part of cross progression, so PS4 is excluded from this (as is XBox).

plus they did say licensed content might be handeled differently. I guess this means stuff like Freddy on Switch because that’s not possible...

Ah ok. Just read the article and well, in the end I would be satisfied with Switch only :D But maybe the other consoles will follow at some point.

  • @Mooks said:

yeah a cheaper version would be interesting, especially since they also announced cross purchases with the cross progression. Maybe a discount if you already have a BHVR account with all the content once cross Progression is live?

i got all the characters on Steam, and actually purchased Clown with shards shortly before the announcement who is also in the switch version..

Oh, havn't heard/read about the cross purchases. That would be awesome if it applied to everything I bought on PC (bought all DLCs normally besides Deathslingers Chapter with shards). If that's a thing I definitely will play on the Switch and maybe even on the PS4 (got it there through PS+).

  • @sherman said:

I play on Switch and the matches I'm getting are outrageous. I was so excited to play against Freddys and Quentins and in Badham Preschool for the first time ever. But with the matches I'm playing, it's not worth it. We just aren't meant to play against high fps PC players on our tiny handheld devices. I play on a monitor still but it's just not the same anymore. I can't loop cause M1'ing is so easy, and the opposite for playing for killer. Everyone just has stretched res and hug the wall AS TIGHT as they can and we're just not used to it. Ranks are being spot on in matches. but with the difference between platforms WE NEED the MMR. Console players I feel are so much more casual (but still more toxic sometimes), and care less about skill.

It's just a buff for PC and a huge nerf for console. We're kinda forced to opt out and then get kicked with longer queue times whereas PC gets to kick everyone's butt. I get that console players can still be better by all means but in a general sense we're just weaker. For an especially small console like the Switch, we just want to play what we normally know. And the skill bar for PC is much higher. I've been willing to try lots of games, but I'm better off quitting for a while.

Idk about your matches but I kinda feel offended about that 'Everyone just has stretched res' as I never used it and never will. Never used/enabled anything. Do not throw us all into that bucket pls...

How do you even know that for sure? From my point of view it can only be an assumption.

Nontheless I can understand some complaints like the FPS issues for example. That is a huge no-go and even without crossplay quite the funkiller.

  • I actually would be interested in that when cross saves are a thing. Would be nice to chill in bed and do a last round or smth like that.

Sadly I have nothing to really contribute to the topic ('only' am interested in that as well for the future).

  • 3. cheese

  • @Deathslinger said:

I might be out of the loop, or an idiot but... I was under the assumption the MMR system needed time to adjust to everyones individual skill level. So...they said 10 games yeah?

To me, that means (as killer) 10 games with one specific killer will be necessary before the system knows where to put you.

    AND

To me, that means (as survivor) 10 games ‘against’ one specific killer will be necessary before the system knows where to put you.

If that’s even close to how it is, then with up to 20 killers, you need 200 games to get the MMR system settled with all killers and survivors. Not sure why people expect everything to be settled and perfect so soon. This might be a month or two endeavor.

Survivor were supposed to need only 10 matches (if they are new or haven't played in a while) because they were collecting data beforehand.

For killer it is 10 matches for each individual killer. But same as above, if you have played recently with a specific killer the system should have learned already about that.

That's where most of the frustration comes from. They said that data was collected but people (especially streamer) who play a lot...like really a lot, should have quite the accurate rating, but the matching isn't accurate at all. That gives the impression that we got lied to - which set's people off. Additionally many have no fun playing because it's either too easy or too hard. I read a few exceptions where it seems to work, but well...overall it seems to be the minority by far.

I read in a different thread, that the system is being looked at. Nothing more known currently, so all we can do is wait sadly.

I do not blame you for having some selfish thoughts. I mean heck why not take advantage while the game is at its most broken point to get some of the killer achievements done. Do what you can while you can. =)

I also would like to say I did finally have one match that was a little more balanced but also made me super mad. This time they went the complete other way. They placed me with a entire team of players who no joke were throwing pallets down just because they could with no killer around. They could not do a gen to save our lives. I mean no joke they popped my gen so many times my 90% gen ended up back to half.

Then on my last gen a new survivor slowly crawls over to the gen jumps on it pops it 3 times then leaves ONLY as I leave. I think okay I will let the killer chase me so they can finish it. That was a joke because I lost the killer then go back to the gen and no one is there so I start working on it and out comes that same survivor. He was hiding in a locker the whole time. He comes out jumps on the gen and pops it 2 more times.

I had enough and alerted the killer I am her and let them kill me.

This has been how my matches have been going except that one RARE match the killer was rank 14 but then once again back to rank 1 killers. I guess out of almost 40 matches now I should be happy I got a average rank killer around my skill finally. lol

I do have hope but it is dieing slowly and that last game has broke me. I went back to Animal Crossing and Xenoblade Chronicles until this MMR system gets these high skilled players away from me. lol

Good luck on getting your achievements done while you can and heck I say take full advantage of it. =) Also I feel dumb because I assumed you were a guy but guessing you are a girl because you mentioned your b/f. lol YAY a girl player. =) I hope I am not offending you and I am wrong I mean I guess I mentioned my husband but I am not a girl so anything is possible rofl....Just did not think many girls play this game lol

Thanks, I will definitely try! And nah, you have not offended me in any way. I am indeed female :) I actually know quite some females playing this game (with me being the only killermain though xD the other ones like the survivor role more).

With your game experience it really sucks. There is nothing more to say than it's just plain not playworthy that way :c Games shoudn't be that frustrating. Definitly will wait with playing with my sis again.

Have fun with Animal Crossing and Xenoblade! AC is not my game and haven't played Xenoblade by now but I really loved Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Really one of the better games on Switch. Wanted to maybe give the first one a try too. Sadly my time is pretty limited atm and I am playing Nioh 2 and also a Sekiro Challengerun currently. But it is definitely on my list to consider :D

Thank you for the kind words and I am a really patient person but the only problem is even I have my limits. I decided to try a couple games today figuring maybe I was overreacting and I only snapped a pic of one but this is how it has been going for 3 games in a row:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/T1RDCH99ZPX8/once-again.jpg

I do not get how someone can be Rank 1 even now meaning they have played more than others and still so "NEW" to a killer they think their skill level is on par with us grays. I mean I am shocked we got 3 gens done but that is more about the map being big then our skill.

I hope they fix this soon. I honestly think they may just delete the ranks we see now so we cannot complain and think its us instead of bad pairing. I mean if they delete the fact I could see Rank 1 I would not be able to prove this was a mismatch. lol

Also I have to say right back at you about it being refreshing to meet such a nice person. I hope things get better and I am happy to hear about siblings playing games together. My husbands plays with me but not this game. His reflexes are not the best so he just like watching me play. lol

That sucks, that the games were not improving for you.

Removing to see the rank might be an option, but in the end people can still ask in endgamechat which rank they were. Additional to that they could check the playtime if profile is not set to private or playtime is hidden (I think this is possible on other platforms than steam too but it's only a guess). But you are right, that seeing the rank in endscreen can set people off with no effort. And to be fair, in 99% of the cases I would guess that a Rank 1 won't be a good match with Rank 12-20. One exception would be my bf for exampe who played on a high skill lv on both sides and hasn't touched the game in ages (aka deranked)..if he were to pick it up again he probably would have no problem to play again at that level. But I doubt there are too many of such cases.

I actually am only concerned about the killer rank 1 achievement in the future as I collected quite some recently and thought I wanna go for that as well finally. If they remove the emblemsystem it might be unachievable. I might have to start the grind now. I play killer normally quite casually as I am not playing too much. Anyway, this is only a selfish thought I had while reading ^^

Back to topic, I really do hope that they will fix this too. Far too many people are not getting matched properly. I read also some posts were the system seems to work, but they seem to be more rare than mismatching. One could say that those who are getting matched properly have no reason to come to the forum and complain, but well...doesn't really excuse that many mismatches either way.

lol I would not blame her for quitting as well. Also it was not easy playing that many matches but I did it hoping it would help but still having horrible matches to the point instead of getting mad I will just take a break. I am hoping in time the high rank players will once again rank enough to get themselves to the spot where they are once again playing against people their level.

I also overlooked the fact they said they have been collecting data prior to this release. I guess not much data if this is still an issue after several games.

I hope you are your sister have better luck than I am having because I was almost rank 9 but lost so many ranks trying to save new players and getting killed on my first hook. I know rank doesnt matter but in the end it does because it in the very least tells us this person has played the game and has more knowledge than this other player.

Goodluck to you and your sister and I hope when she does play with you that you both get killers that are more her level. =)

Thanks! I really hope it will work out :)

I am amazed you pulled through the matches to be honest. I probably would have given up (or went on killer). But I am not enjoying survivor really unless I have someone to talk to while playing.

Guess your patience also was there because you haven't read about the data collection beforehand.

Good luck to you too that it will be better for you after a break!

Btw it is nice to see such friendly posts on the forum :D

  • I started with Wraith basically and I think it did good to get the basics down. If you want to have some nice perks to use you might want to start dumping bloodpoints into some killer (maybe farm those on survivor) before playing. Leatherface for BBQ&Chili is nice and I personally like Nurse's Calling a lot from Nurse. There are quite some perks you might want to have and the downside is that most are on different killers and it will cost you a lot of bloodpoints to get some nice builds starting.

Also you miiight want to wait a bit until your first games as the MMR system seems not good atm.

This is after 20 to 30 games since the new system and still getting Rank 1 killers just sweeping games. My last 3 games all have been less than 5 minutes because the killer just eats these new players.

I do know that it is still early but Rank 1 people normally are rank 1 because they not only are good buy play enough to stay Ranked. I really hope they put into account the killers highest MMR on their most used killer or else this could be the new norm. The Rank 1 killer picks a killer they never used like Pig and then get matched with players like this because their MMR with Pig is the lowest and the do not look at the higher MMR of the other characters. I keep looking at the article and even what you said and you both are right they Rank your MMR PER killer and it looks like they do not look at your overall MMR so getting high ranked players using a new killer down here with us little people.

I am gonna continue to try and give it time but so far after my many many games I am still getting matched with killers who clear the game or when I play killer survivors who make me the prey. lol

I really hope you are right but at the moment I may switch to another game while these higher rank players finally get placed where they belong because I am tired of trying to both save newbs and do gens against killers even I can't handle.

This surely sucks a lot. If I take in consideration how much I play the game, 20-30 matches would take me probably 2 weeks. In case of survivor probably 2 month LOL as I barely play survivor at all.

With those results it is pretty hard to believe that they collected data for some time. All those threads where people complain about consistent failed matching which are stomps. All those streamer who are mostly matched with people who have close to no playtime. It feels like we hit a hard rank reset where every player starts anew.

I definitely feel so sorry about new players. Started to play recently with my sister (really only a few matches), but with the current MMR system I don't want to even ask her if she wants to play because she struggles with the game already enough as it is. She is not a person who is calm about unfairness and if we happen to get a high rank killer, she would instantly stop playing - not that I would blame her.

I really hope they will improve the system ASAP because as the feedback currently stands it is not working as intended...

  • I am against them giving out the math tbh. What I like to know is some kind of shown number/rank tied to that MMR though. So that you can actually see, if you climb/fall and if that reflects the feeling of the games you had.

Also we could compare the MMR in postgame lobby. Currently we know only like 2 measurements. The ranksystem and if we can see the amount of hours someone has played the game. Both are not too accurate to know if the matching was good/bad. As well as improvements with further games played.

Sorry I may have misunderstood and you may be right but I seen this in the new matchmaking description:

"The next phase that you will notice goes live with the upcoming mid-chapter update: We are no longer allowing Killers to switch their character while searching for a match, or once in a lobby (excluding Custom Matches). This will allow the new Matchmaking System to track player skill with each killer individually and match them against more appropriately skilled opponents based on their killer selection."

That is where my confusion is maybe because with each MMR being based on each individual killer and not the overall player then wouldn't a lets say Rank 1 killer main trying a new killer get the lowest MMR rating for the individual killer and get placed in a pool possibly with new survivors?

I mean I totally agree with everything you say but if we are ignore ranks now and only going based on MMR then for example lets say I dominate and always 4k with Hag and Myers and legion. I play for maybe 400 hours give or take and now I change killers to Trapper. The MMR system might say wow he has no knowledge of this killer and yes give me easier opponents but they could also pair me with newbies who just started survivor because the system is looking at just the Trappers MMR and not the overall knowledge as a killer.

I agree though it is still to early to tell but I am hoping for the best.

Yes, each individual killer will have their own MMR. I do hope though that they will take e.g. your highest MMR of all killer into consideration when you try out a new one and just lower that by some rating. Or maybe an average rating over your most often played killer.

In an optimal instance, someone who is skilled with a specific killer has a MMR related to that. Currently it seems to be ######### up because the playerbase need to land at their destined MMR. It was said they collected enough data beforehand but with so many threads related to this subject and me watching streamer to get not matched with equally skilled opponents/teammates (consistently - not just ~10 Matches) it is kinda hard to believe.

I guess all we can do is wait for the system to learn.

Additionally it was said in the Q&A that they will change the matching algorithm so 4000h player won't be matched with 20h player, as it's happening a lot apparenlty atm.

All in all they should have been a little bit more informative about this MMR system beforehand as people are not satisfied right now - which is totally understandable. The system might be good but it feels like they should have collected more data beforehand as it doesn't seem it was sufficient.

If I am right after reading the article many, MANY times this is how it works are is suppose to work:

On killer side if you try a new killer you never played before or are not familiar with you are put against survivors of the same level. You get survivors who are new to the survivor they picked or are not familiar with.

On the survivor side you pick a new survivor you never used and get put against a player using a killer they are new with.

The problem I see here is they are ignore the rank system because they say it is broken but that is a mistake. If anything put the rank system into consideration. The ranking system at very least tells us something. It tells us that a Rank 1 has played enough to know the game well and whether they pick a NEW killer or survivor they still know how to chase and loop. They may not know exactly how to use the said new to them killer or survivor but they know the game.

Now the Rank 1 player picks Oni for the first time and now the new system says oh well he does not know how to use them we should team him with survivors that are new but that is an issue. Yes it is gonna pull New survivors who are also inexperienced with their character but the player is gonna be maybe Rank 18 or 20 and not just new to the survivor but the ENTIRE game.

I hope that what I am saying makes sense because I cannot think of another way to explain it but I will try to simplify it more. A person use a new killer matched to 4 people playing new survivors may not be equal because said killer may have 1000 hours playtime where those 4 survivors may have just bought the game today and vice versa.

I think they should not only use the new system but put into consideration the ranks a bit too. I still have hope but currently after many games I am still have very unbalanced games. Good luck to you all and may the odd be ever in your favor! Live long and Prosper! Nano Nano! lol

    Not entirely.

Survivors share their MMR. Meaning you won't get easier killer if you play a survivor for the first time. This is because Survivors are basically only skins.

Killers will have each their own MMR but as far as I understood, you will put against easier survivor (lower MMR) if you play a killer for the first time or not playing that killer often. But easier doesn't automatically mean you get close to lowest possible MMR. Let's say someone having 1k hours in the game as solely playing killer (and doing pretty good at it) and a new killer is coming out which the person jumps on trying. That person will get easier opponents - but not newbies. That makes no sense and it's nowhere stated as far as I read. It only says easier. Let's use the ranks for an easy example: Playing Huntress on a Rank 1 level but never played Nurse. With Nurse you have now Rank 8-10 opponents the first match.

The paragraph where they mentioned that can be misleading but I don't read anywhere that they say that they will put newbies against someone when they playing a killer for the first time (if the killer has a high MMR on any other killer). I mean it wouldn't make sense to begin with as there is the factor basic gameknowledge to take into consideration. Noone playing at high skill level would play at newbie lv with a killer the never tried before. They still would do pretty decent even if they play the new killer without their power and only as a m1-killer, because they know how to loop, how to apply pressure, etc.

There is one instance where you would get legitimately matched with a rank 20 and that would be if someone was at a high MMR and then stopped playing. Their rank would go down, the MMR not though.

This said, the system is nowhere close to have enough knowledge thus far, that's why unfair matchmaking is happening. This should resolve itself the next weeks IF they got a decently programmed MMR-System.

I'm not taking my own experiences into account, merely the reported experiences of the community as a whole. Personally I enjoy DBD, and though people genuinely enjoy doing things that are supposed to hurt me or (If I'm a teammate) the opposition, I am also fully aware that they are the lesser for it. It is honestly more depressing that people act in such toxic ways in the first place, and it is sad to consider the problems and issues that cause them to feel they have to dominate someone in an anonymous online video game to feel personal validation.

Edit: I also didn't mention any normal gameplay things. If you consider toxicity normal then perhaps you are a little too jaded.

"Game-breaking bugs and glitches?" This is imo the only legitimate reason to DC you mentioned in your earlier post.

I get it, as a killer player i know sometimes sluggin is necessary, also camping but there are ways to do it. I dont like ######### other peoples game and i prefer playing nice even if that makes it difficult to get red rank, a rank 1 killer that slug with 5 gends or facecamp everytime it's just a bad killer for me and rank means anything. Hear me out, i'm not saying survs never cry, they do, as a killer i zoned one surv with the exit open and they accused me of camping, like they wanted me to go to the other side of the map and look the wall while they scape. it's just stupid sometimes. But there is a difference between ZONING at the end game so u can get points too, to secure a kill or slugin one person to make pressure in game and just sluggin with 5 gens left 4 survs or camping/facecamping the hell out of everyone or tunnel the same person so u kill him fast enought to make him lose pep cause he couldnt play. I wont ever complain about zoning or sluggin when is necessary, but some killers just abusse of those mechanics for no reason. If playing like ######### sluggin everyone or facecamping is a mechanic then killers shouldnt beeing complaining about gen rush either, it's a mechanic too then (for me survs that only m1 gens are nothing, anyways, it's just a example)

And as i surv i NEVER tbag or click the killer, even if i'm winning a chase, there is no need, but i also found killers that called me toxic just coz i was looping and dont letting him take me down easy, there is always nonsense people in games.

I know what you mean and I am playing like that (just ofc making mistakes sometimes). But no matter the reason, I feel still scummy for every slug. Even if I find myself to camp at the EGC to secure that one kill.

I hate it when killer try and slug the first person they down in the game at 5 Gens. If people were around, ok. I mean if I know there is a flashlight in the game I will try and spook them if I can't face a wall or smth. But quite some killer tend to play "too sweaty" or "scummy".

I just am sad, that I have to play differently from my imagined way. I never meant stupid and unnecessary slugging, but that there are quite some cases where it is the best strategy. Also avoiding playing Oni for example because his power favors slugging mostly. It is just not my playstyle. But I am an achievement hunter, so there is that (currently missing only 14).

  • 13. What you also need to understand is camping tunneling and slugging are a must in the current state of the game you have perks to counter that so you can’t whine much there

I remember that I wanted to play Killer like this:

Going after a Survivor, down them, hang them. Find another Survivor and do the same. Then again find a Survivor (if it happens to be the first I would try to ignore them aka find a 3rd) and do the same. Rinse and repeat without slugging nor tunneling.

But to my disappointment you can't really play this game like this(maybe not anymore - have no comparison). If you won't at least slug, there is no way, you reach a high rank and most of the time you get just bullied by Survivors and not even getting one kill out of it.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel scummy if I play like this and definitely not like it. But what else can one do to apply pressure, if you just go for Survivor one by one? That's the case where one would feel "Gen-rushed" because too many survs would focus on Gens.

I really liked that list @RizeAki ! That one point just got to me personally and I had to put my 2 Cents ^^'

  • Also having quite the bad time to see auras atm. I mean people are also hiding in lockers to not be seen by bbq, but unless they are running somehwere not too far away, they seem really really hard to spot.

My actual biggest concern about this is that I often spend time using up my Bloodpoints on a "Different" killer that I am leveling instead of the one that I am actually playing while waiting in the extremely long 10min Killer Ques that I face frequently. So that was at least a way to kill some time while I wait, now I won't be able to I guess..

I actually am on the same note here. That is the only thing bothering me. Now I have to spend extra time (besides the mostly already long queues) to spend my bloodpoints on a killer I want to level up, which is in like 95% of the cases not the one I want to play. But well....guess sacrifices needs to me made.

Honestly they shouldve just waited until the new matchmaking was actually READY. What's the point otherwise?

They probably need the system to learn. This is actually better if they do it as early as possible.
