I would love to be able to bind specific perk slots to the chat wheel. It would only need to display the perk icon next to may name to convey what I'm trying to do.

You gave me an attitude, I don’t take kindly to people that are ungrateful when others try to help. I didn’t think you’d be asking something as simple as “how do you know when you’re safe from getting hit?” Which is a pretty easy to answer question, if there’s nothing in bwtween you and the killer, you need to change that pronto.
it's like you 're asking for food and someone gives you an empty plate. It's not helpful to say "get better".
It is. And it’s not what I told you. I said to get a feel, that means pay attention, not necessarily sweat. And by the way, if you’re asking for food, a plate would be helpful because then you would have something to put the food on. It’s progress. Nothing is instant. Time to learn.
EDIT: Once again you are only grateful for instant benefits.
Yes lets give all starving African kids plates.

I have a friend who has Dead by daylight on PC. I recently bought Dead by daylight on PS4. Unfortunately, we can't play together since we are on other platforms. My friend recently bought a PS4 too. My question is: Do you have any plans (or are you willing) to add a feature so that my friend can play Dead by daylight with his PC account on PS4?I love the game so far and keep the good work up 🤘
It could be done if the game tracked progression on a "DbD account" like Fortnite does. However this is not the case.

Even if you don't want to hear it, it is mostly latency. So long as the killer's hitbox and the survivor's hitbox overlap during their attack, it's going to register a hit. There is going to be a delay there, and even a split second is enough to make it look like a miss in close quarters. So the simple answer is latency, like it or not.
Beyond that, there's also smoothing in play. As you're playing, the game isn't sending information back and forth thousands of times per second. That would cause a lot of lag for people with weaker connection. Online games will send information periodically and fill in the blanks on your end in between. It's not 1:1. (Massively simplified e.g.: He was looking this way, but now he's looking that way. Rather that just snapping from one direction to the other and looking he's teleporting around, the game smoothly rotates them to the correct direction.) This adds a slight delay to what you see.
But the important thing is that if you got hit, it's because they did actually hit you. It's not just giving them a free hit for no reason.
how do you explain then that it also hits on the killer side, when they are the host of the match
The killer's side is mostly a visual thing. It checks if you hit and then goes through the animation, locking on in the process. At that point the killer already got the hit and the game is just doing its best to make it look right. Sometimes that'll mean locking on to where the survivor was when the hit was validated, even if they moved since. Again, there's a little bit of latency and smoothing at play.
Does this mean that I hit when I as a killer swing at a survivor and turn around during the swing?

Let's do some math:
Wrong capsule-shaped surv hitbox that is 3x times bigger than the actual surv and doesn't change with any movement (except crouch)
PLUS
Huge spheric shaped killer hitbox that can hit in any direction in 90% of the lunge movement
PLUS
Lag due to p2p connection
IS EQUAL TO
Counter-intuitive collision system you have to get used to after hundreds of hours of play (if you're a surv, if killer is just a gift).
THEREFORE
Just get used to this #########, is not gonna change: when they tried to rework the huntress hatchets to a more realistic one they made a mess cause suddenly they had to aim (lol).
Exactly. When it doesn't even lign up from a killer's perpective, I can only imagine what it looks like on the survivor's side.

I didn´t have a better example at hand, but it proves the point that either the lunge hitbox or the survivor´s hitbox is completely off. I don´t see the meg anymore in the clip and I still hit her.
Is it hard for you people to understand what a hitbox is?
http://blog.counter-strike.net/index.php/2012/03/1838/
You do not hit the model, you hit an invisible box with an invisible box that you don't see either. Animations sometimes line up but this is an indie game, you're probably attacking a walking box at this point.
I know what hitboxes are and how they work, and if your point is that the animaition don´t line up with the hitboxes then I´m completely right saying that the hitboxes are complete dogshit
Melee hits are registered via hitcones in DBD. The animation is just for "immersion" purposes
And that is a great hit detection according to you?
Are you willing to give BHVR a bigger budget so they can line up and make more animations?
Oh wait, you don't?`k then.
They have the money to make a 3 page update log every other 2 weeks, but can't be bother to fix the hit detection. I can 't enjoy survivor anymore because of this and got killer rank 1 within a month of playing the game, if that doesn't say anything than I don't know what would.
Aiming for rank 1 is pointless as long as rank is so easy too achieve. You will literally get bored, I suggest trying to have fun by playing the game and if you cant have fun as survivor, then simply play killer.
But I am curious. What is the part that annoys you, is it the actual detection mechanic or that the visual animation doesnt lign up properly?
Both, and they weapon models don't even have to lign up perfectly, but at least reasonably. Like Billy has the same range as the clown, it doesn't make sense.
I can ensure you that the devs will not touch the actual hit detection mechanic EVER. They are so scared to even do little changes, trying not to break their spaghetti code.....
Maybe we will have visual update that the killer weapon stretches a bit to visually touch the survivor for this "extra immersion", but I doubt that the devs will bother with that either.
Why doesnt it make sense that billy has the same range as clown?
Well they have the same range, but billy's weapon is a 1 meter pickaxe/hammer and the clown's weapon is a little tiny knife
