  • I bought the Alessa one because yeah but I'm not gonna buy any for the regular survivors because it doesn't change who they are.

When I see this icon my hands start twitching. Adrenaline starts pumping. Eagles cry and waves crash upon the shores. A globe? In my crossplay!? Knowing my opponent is shivering in fear, clutching his joycon controllers hones my skills. Sharpens my resolve.

I clutch my mouse gently, but firmly. Ready to left click at any moment and when the moment comes, I press the space bar. (that's to pick up survivors, for all those uninitiated folk) The globes begin to crack. The globes begin to fall.

At the end of the day, I know I caused it all.

gg I type. To no one that can see it. For all they know is the soft glow of the television set, where I once appeared. Where I ruled.

Comment of the year!!!! Have my upvote. That was some funny stuff.

  • The ones that tunneled and camped us today had the little globe by their name every time. So either windows store or console. Tunneling and camping is not PC exclusive :)

  • I see it the other way a lot of times. That 1 solo person will bail on everyone else asap if they can. I understand why though cause they get boned more often than not. Earlier today after 1 gate was open our random went down and got basement hooked by trapper. He double trapped the top of the stairs. I still went back and got the dude. He escaped with my other 2 SWF and I died on 2nd hook. I could have left and my current challenge of get out the gate with adrenaline said I should have just bailed. Not all SWF teams view the random as expendable. My team kinda watches to see if they help or not. We try not to leave anyone behind but if we have to it's usually one of us.

If I see a hidden offering from the killer, you bet your ass I'm force-quitting on the loading screen.

Why sell yourself short on a guess? Had a round just last night where we had 3 escape (including myself) against a pink mori packing Freddy. Just because they bring a mori doesn't mean they are good and you're doomed. Every now and then you get a confidence boost from being able to overcome the odds stacked against you. In fairness we were a 3 stack SWF but the random was one of us that survived it. Go solo Q :)

  • I can understand the frame rate thing in not wanting to play against PC. As many others have said you can disable crossplay. I know you're gonna say "but my Q times!!!" I don't think you understand how that actually works. You aren't barred from playing with people that have it turned on if you have it off. You have the same pool of players that are on your console to match with so you're not any worse off than you were before. The people that keep it on just have faster times because they opted into a bigger pool of players.

  • The grind is real. Maybe if they even did so little as remove the middle tier of each perk it would be less ominous.

  • Agree with @DTJObe on this. Sounds a whole lot like lag. I've been on the PC version for quite a while now and have never seen a cheater that I'm aware of.

  • That's weird, it totally should have eaten the tooth. Maybe the entity thinks teeth are too hard to digest so it refused to eat it.

  • I made a thread wishing for this back in January of 2019. Hopefully now that we have cross-play cross-progress will be soon™️ to follow. Even if they just give me the BP equivalent of my xbone account on pc I'd be happy.

  • In fairness I got a lot more hate mail back when I was playing on xbone before I swapped to pc. Can't attest for the PS4 crowd though. I have it but never played it there as I didn't wanna start over again. On xbone I got a metric fuckton of party invites to cuss me out, nasty messages and I once even got a voice message because I got hatch and didn't work on the last gen right in front of the hag's face. PC has been much more chill although people sometimes still get riled up in chat after the match.

  • It's probably the alchemist but I'm gonna roll with @Zoldyar and guess The Werewolf. Dude in the trailer looks like he's growing fur.

  • Me and my daughter got stuck on 2 different hills at the same time. She spawned in the stuck spot. I thought she was around the corner of my hill and walked into it. I was able to get out by putting down my medkit. I then went and found her to try to give her the medkit so she may get out but along came the huntress. She got downed and when the huntress picked her up she got stuck there. She was able to free herself by swinging her axe while carrying my daughter. Game went good after that. We never went near a hill again.

  • I agree, hopefully cross progress soon follows.

  • if you're on console it means your update isn't finished downloading yet. give it time and it will unlock

They wanted a horror movie killer, they don't understand thr importance of pyramid head in the horror genre beceause it's "a lame video game" or "the movie were bad".

They don't get that horror is not only in movie and books and that other media have horror stuff that can be used, video game being one of them (music too in some degree).

I like where you're going with the "music too in some degree" part. The Murmaider when?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I53HDr0-Qew

  • I started out on the xbone version then switched to PC. I still use my xbone controller and do just fine. There isn't really as big a difference from m/k vs controller as one would think. If this was a FPS it would be different but DBD doesn't go that hard. I could see the frame rate being a semi issue. Not sure what the game runs at on ps4 but it was reasonably smooth on my xbone. To me the frame rate is just for looks once it goes over 30fps. If it drops below 30 is when actual problems happen. Crossplay won't be bad at all I think.

Edit: The only other thing I can think of is it's easier to 360 a killer on console and it's way more prevalent there. PC killers for the most part will slap you down trying to 360 them. So if you rely on that then you may have some problems.

  • for someone that doesn't rage quit you sure have a lot of rage. If i remember right the dc penalty resets 1 level every 24 hours of not dcing if that helps you out. so I'd call my isp and take a break till they get the ######### sorted.

    Distressing (for big terror radius)

Unnerving Presence (Trapper - for smaller skill checks in your big terror radius)

BBQ (Leatherface - Any one you don't see, might get picked up with static blast)

Overcharge - (Dr - Blowing gens left and right) and/or Pop Goes the Weasel (Clown - Good for gen slow-down)

I have a lot of success with this build but that is just my opinion. Have fun in the fog.

I use the same build. Love impossible skill check Doc. I'd swap BBQ for something else but those bonus BP are way to good to let go of.

  • I think I'm gonna roll with Jason on this.

Yeah, i forgot about haddonfield and the indoor maps not having shack. Edited original post as this point has come up a few times already. Cheers :)

Only that solo survivors would need to waste time going to the point in the map each time they want to know how many totems there are left. Unlike SWF which could communicate the information for their friends in games where it's not a full team and may not be 100% sure how many totems were done.

Yeah but I think a counter in the hud would bone killers with hex builds and completely destroy noed with 0 effort. It's totally true that swf have the upper hand on that matter but I think it only really does it for them if it's a 3 or 4 stack. a pair and 2 solo or 2 pairs don't get the same advantage so it would help the lesser evils a bit too. There's no way to fix a 4 stack being able to just use comms so I thought this would be a way to bring solo up some hopefully without boning killers in the process.

  • @Plebian said:

The issue I see with giving an indicator in a specific location on the map is that it gives more power to playing SWF vs Solo. As apposed to displaying it in the UI which would be available for all players. Unless it's easily visible from multiple points in the map, e.g some sort of indication on hooks.

How would it help SWF at all? They already have it in the form of "hey I did 2 bones, how many did you guys hit?"

  • Maybe to make it feel a bit more fair for killers with hex builds have some sort of interaction kinda like searching a chest to get the counter to pop up. Say go to the very back of the basement and there is a crystal ball or something to interact with and at the end of animation the glowing counter shows on the wall.

Where do you I run in a map like haddonfield or the game where killer shack doesn't exist?

That was pointed out earlier. I somehow forgot about Haddonfield and the indoor maps not having shack. The basement was suggested as a better location and I think that would work well. Every map has a basement.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/154531/idea-for-a-totem-counter-of-sorts

It's not a bad idea, but why not just run Detectives Hunch? Every gen that's done gives you 10 seconds of totem spots for free. Plus this would completely kill any totem build in existence and IMO would break the immersion of the game. The survivors are suppose too be weaker then the killer with little info about who/what people are doing, if there's a giant sign in the shack that says "Hey, there's X bones left." it wouldn't feel like I don't know whats going on.

Fair point. I do run Detectives Hunch and it's the best thing for totem killing. Sadly most don't wanna waste a perk slot on it so I took my shot at an idea.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/154531/idea-for-a-totem-counter-of-sorts

I think this is fine, but they really need to rework the entire totem/hex system tbh.

The way hexes should work is that you have to cleanse all 5 totems, and their power is dependent on how many totems are left. That way they aren't able to instantly be cleansed in a match and be completely useless, nor last the whole game because you can't find that last totem and be completely OP.

    I like that idea too

  • @AvisDeene said:

Would make playing Trapper, Hag and Basement Bubba more fun if a counter were put in the basement. But no, I am still against a counter without buffing Killers. A totem counter would take away from the uncertainty of hex totems because it would encourage Survivors to cleanse totems asap. Killers who use hex perks rely on Survivors not knowing how many totems are left.

If a totem counter is introduced, it should be a perk and something should be introduced for Killers to help counter it.

Well you got me there. I usually run detectives hunch so totems are mostly a non issue for me. Was just an idea that popped in my head that I thought wouldn't be too over the top bad for killers. You do make good points though so thank you :)

  • @bm33 said:

Would need to adjust for the maps with no shack. Maybe on the exit gates? Run up to see only 4 when hit with NOED would be rough.

Yeah, i forgot about the inside buildings. Not sure if exit gates would be a good place though cause that's still kinda handing it to ya. I did like @KingFrost idea about in the basement though. Give it a bit of an extra function and all maps have that place. Just a hint of danger to check if you're clear of the dreaded NOED lol.

  • @Bovinity said:

    It's a neat idea.

I dunno how it'd work in practice (that's a TON of time spent not doing objectives to check a counter) but it sounds cool.

I don't think it would take too much time to run to a predetermined spot to make sure the team got them all. It would definitely be more time than a counter in the hud and I think that's a good thing.

  • To add to the stuff others have already said, it's generally a pretty good idea to hop in a locker when he's fixing to hook someone. If he has BBQ it saves you from that and also a lot of Docs (including myself) tend to use the static blast after a hook to quickly find the next victim.

Edit: There's also Calm Spirit that keeps you from screaming. Not a meta perk I know but it also helps out against anything other killers have that make you scream.

  • Survey complete. Good luck on your paper.

  • What if they went back to if survivors didn't complete at least 2 gens then the hatch doesn't spawn at all. When it's down to the last survivor EGC starts. If you did at least 2 gens hatch spawns and is open so no need for a key, if not you gotta take your chances at a door. Survivors still get a chance at escaping as the last even though they failed and killers are less likely to slug for the 4k. If you didn't at least do the minimum for hatch then the free escape should be hard.

  • Lat one I can come up with. Also not a cat lol

I call most killers their title, with the exception of Freddy, Myers, and Bubba.

Yep, I forgot about Fredward and Bubba :) good catch

  • Most of them I just use their names with a couple exceptions. Doctor = Doc, Trapper = Trap Daddy, and The Shape = Oh ######### it's Myers lol

  • I play with controller as both survivor and killer on pc. while M/K is more precise this game isn't a fps so it doesn't make much difference. Of course there is the exceptions like huntress, deathslinger and nurse that the extra precision that a mouse brings to the table helps out with. The majority of killers though play just fine on controller.

  • Now I may just be a little buzzed up but if I read most of this thread right you guys are saying killers should tunnel to get DS out of the game early. The only time I've seen it as a problem is at end game.

  • @toxcitynacl said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/152356/penalty

This is impossible. I have been told on great authority by someone in this very thread that the game is stable and if you are crashing it is all your fault.

The game is mostly stable. Every now and then something random happens. If you don't do any volunteer DCing you shouldn't get past the 5 minute mark.

  • I've seen this. The killed didn't DC. You got DCed from the game. I had a game with a full stack SWF and 3 of them DCed thinking the killer DCed cause the game told them it was the killer. Back in the game I was like "#########, it says 5 gens or hatch!" then Doc came and drug my ass to the basement. I've also been the one that got DCed while my friends and killer were still in match but it told me the killer DCed. Hope they fix it soon. It's still very rare and I've never been past the 5 minute penalty.

  • There is absolutely no reason to DC aside from a real life emergency. Even then you could AFK and not screw over the rest of the people that also paid for this game. As you say you are new to this game you probably don't know what things were like before the DC penalty became a thing. As Entity_Hugs pointed out, before the penalty survivors would DC for the most ridiculous reasons. People ran around with "whatever makes me mad"=DC for names if that helps you to understand why things are the way they are now. Getting "annoyed" while playing a game doesn't mean you should DC. That just means you should get better at the game to prevent being "annoyed" by whatever nonsense triggers you. Welcome to DBD btw. I wish you well and that you get great games. Please try to not be a sore loser and make everyone else pay for your rage fits.

I'm playing on xbox one really trying to find something with an aux plug so I can also use it on my phone.

no aux plug on the stealth 700 so that one would be a no go for ya.

  • I really like impossible skill check Doc.

BBQ - cause I like points

    Distressing - for huge TR

Unnerving - To make those checks harder to hit while they bounce around the screen

Overcharge or Pop - I swap these 2 but mostly run Overcharge to make skill checks as hard as possible

Addons vary by mood. Sometimes fake pallets amuse me. If I'm feeling a bit mean I'll run King and Queen. I always giggle when a random survivor in the distance screams cause they went to heal their friend.
