Both. Try to be sneaky, but as soon as you spotted, be as efficient as possible in your chase. If all your teammates are sneaky, and you know you're at least decent in chase, try to be the aggressive player, but a team were all 4 players are aggressive don't always end right.
I had a friend that was mocking me for being sneaky when I knew the killer was coming. Pretty funny to point out that he always barely piped, and I always got more BP than him.
Yeah, I'll definitely play both now. I should probably run a few stealth perks along with an exhuastion perk that helps me in a chase, like BL or DH.

An Agressive Stealthy style is best.
Aggressive players actively taunt the killer, even use OoO, and want to be chased the entire match. Ideally if the survivor is good enough to loop the killer the entire match this is ok. But this kind of skilled player is quite rare. There aren't many players who can loop a killer for an entire five minutes while his teammates finish all the gens.
Chances are you'll go down after a minute or so and your heroics end there.
Stealthy players on the other hand just tend not to be productive. They are too careful and "immersed" so they avoid danger and risk, and don't do much Gen work.
This is far from ideal, though it can be fun to play. But it usually results in poor performance.
The ideal style in my opinion is the stealthy Agressive. Player. Stealth when needed to avoid the killer, but smart enough to know when to play aggressive to get things done. This style uses game sense and perks to know when it's dangerous and stealth is needed, and when it's safe to run around and aggressively work on gens and other objectives like totems and saves. And when ######### hits the fan, knows how to aggressively loop and juke.
Yeah... I think I might end up playing both depending on the situation. If no one is getting gens done... and everyone is getting hooked very early, I'll have to loop the killer around for a bit to give them some time. And btw what I mean by stealthy... I mean I'm still doing gens, but when I hear the killer coming, I just back off and wait til they leave then get back on it. I don't just crouch around whole game like everybody else does when they play "stealthy"

Iron will, self-care, botany knowledge and dead hard are good.
These sound really good as well. I will be sure to try them! Thanks!

Balanced landing is amazing too
Also, Lithe and dance with me if you like disappearing. Edit: works better with quick and quiet
Yeah I heard these are amazing perks to run at the same time. And I will definitely use BL over DH though. Thank you for the help!

DS, BT, Adrenaline, DH is the meta.
You can't go wrong with Unbreakable and Bond, either.
A lot of people do tell me this is the way to go. The only bad perk in this build imo is Dead Hard (and I think it's the worst exhaustion perk). It just doesnt work on decent killers anymore. I mean... yes, it could help you get to a pallet or window that you wouldnt necessarily make, but it's one time. Imo I think balanced is way better and I will just run that instead. But otherwise, I will give this build a try. Thanks!

I think it has the potential to be a good build for evading the killer.
Personally, I always include Quick and Quiet in my stealth builds though so I'd swap Spine Chill for that. However, if you prefer Spine Chill then stick with that. Either way, I hope the build works out for you!
Thanks, I appreciate it!👍

My stealthy build involves keeping track of where the killer is, and knowing where they're coming from, so I run Urban Evasion (Of course), Premonition (To keep track of which direction the killer is coming from), Spine chill(to know when to hide), and my last perk changes depending on what I want to do. I'll run Lightweight, Iron will, or quick&quiet , or an exhaustion perk depending on what I'm feeling like, and what item I have. I expect to replace Premonition &or Spine chill with something else as my game-sense improves.
Yeah I used to run Premonition and Spine Chill at the same time to. Empathy is really good to for keeping an eye on the killer, since when someone gets hit, you basically know where the killer is. I usually replace Premonition with Empathy

No it's always useful. At higher ranks you will need to to counter Spirit/Nurse and killers that are very good at tracking. It can help you make better pathing decisions and give you a way to easily stealth juke a killer during a chase once you break line of sight. That's not to say you need this perk, but it is very helpful even if you are a top tier survivor. I use both this and Iron Will all the time, and I feel like I'm usually the hardest survivor to find and track of my group.
Premonition is the perk that becomes less useful as you get better, because knowing about where the killer is, or at least their direction in relation to you, becomes easier once you realize how tiles spawn, how killer's optimize path, and that stuff. But knowing when the killer is focused on you is very important information you can't get that easily otherwise.
I'm just having a tough time reading spine chill, that's all. Like... when it lights up, I dont know which way to go, because I dont know which way he is coming from. Is there a way you do this?

Iron Will, Spine Chill, Calm Spirit, choice.
Iron Will hides your cries of pain making it harder for the killer to track you when you are injured and making it easier to maneuver around the map without alerting the killer.
Spine Chill tells you when the killers is looking in your direction. If it flashes sporadically it means the killer is within 36m but not focused on your position. If it stays lit that usually means the killer is coming right towards you, or even sees you. It can let you know when it's safe to move out from cover or let you know which direction to go to avoid the killer. It can also give you info on the killer's perks, as (for example) if you are healing and it lights up and stays lit chances are the killer sees you with Nurse's Calling. You can learn what perks the killer has based on the context of the situation.
Calm Spirit will stop you from screaming and alerting crows. It also hides your aura bubble for something like Rancor. Alerting crows is lowkey an easy way to give away you position to the killer, so this perk let's you move around without much care in that regard. It also hard counters Doc's power which is itself anti-stealth, and if you want stealth you will need this. It has other uses but it takes a lot of skill and practice to get those uses out of the perk. For the most part you are using it to counter Doc and hide from crows.
Last perk can kinda be whatever you want, because everything else you can hide by just playing patiently. For example, Q&Q is a good stealth perk but if you just slow vault windows often you don't need it. DWM/Poised/Lightweight can hide your scratch marks, but again you can do this by walking and just being aware of when you're leaving a trail.
I would recommend an exhaustion perk, really any will do. Sprint Burst, while probably the worst exhaustion perk in the game, is good for stealth play as you will tend to be walking everywhere anyway, and the ability to bolt like a cheetah when the killer comes knocking can help you avoid a lot of chases. But again it's what you want. The 3 perks I mention are the best stealth perks in the game, albeit they require a good amount of skill to use efficiently.
I am definitely planning on using lots of these perks. Everyone just says though that Spine Chill gets more useless the more you get better. But I'm not quite sure about that. Do you agree?

Ah, I forgot about detection perks! All the ones you mentioned are helpful to know where the killer is. I'm not a fan of Premonition myself, but I like Spine Chill and Alert.
Bond does a similar thing for me which is why I mentioned it too. Empathy can also do the same thing if you pay attention to where your teammate is when they get hit.
Yeah, Empathy is preety decent to. I actually tried something new yesterday though. I decided to run Premonition and Spine Chill at the same time. It actually works really well if you want to know if the killer is coming towards you, and what direction they are coming from. Should I keep running them both or no?

Perks like Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Quick and Quiet, Calm Spirit, and Lightweight help you stealth around. Some perks that benefit by successfully stealthing around the killer are Diversion and Stake Out.
My go-to full stealth build is Iron Will, Urban Evasion, Diversion, and Bond (to help me avoid teammates that are being chased nearby).
Lots of people do reccomend this build. Do you think I should use any detection perks, like Spine Chill, Prem, or Alert?

@Almo said:
Mine is Alert, Iron Will, Urban Evasion and something else. Often Q&Q or Balanced Landing. Alert is so good for hiding when the Killer kicks a gen you were just working on.
This sounds like a really good build. I just switched out Bond for QnQ in my build. I definitely like alert though, so it's a preety tough decision.
-
I'm honestly starting to figure out that you dont really need this perk for your main builds or just in general. I've used self care preety much since launch and I just stopped using it a few weeks ago and I just rely on a med kit or teammates to heal me. Just make sure you know where teammates are at all times so you can get healed as soon as possible. Even put on a aura reading perks to see your teammates instead of self care, like Bond, Empathy, Aftercare and etc.

I know lol

I'd like to think he would have an ability to just smash through pallets, like literally walk through them, smashing them into a million pieces, as that would be very accurate to his film counterpart.
Yeah... I was thinking similar to this. Maybe he could have a power called rage that is active for a limited time. Maybe while active, you can smash through pallets instantly, as well as walls that could be smashed through. And you can also see all survivor auras that are outside your terror radius while the power is active

Bond, Iron Will, Spine Chill and Adrenaline would be good too. Dead Hard or Balance Landing also works if you don't want either Iron Will or Adrenaline. Technician is pretty good if repairing in a group and the killer chases after the other person. Or if your character model is harder to spot right away.
I'm actually gonna try this build out (I'm just gonna replace adrenaline with sprint burst or balanced landing). Thanks for help👍!

Although I like to switch up my build to try out different playing styles and roles within the match, common perks that I use for stealthy escapes would be...
Iron Will, Bond, Spine Chill and an exhaustion perk.
If I had to pick one for stealth, it would be Iron Will!
I think I am definitely gonna try this build out. I'll replace my self care with iron will and see how it goes
-
Definitely the doctor. He makes hiding a lot harder and he makes doing gens harder because of the more difficult skill checks. Just overall puts a lot of pressure on survivors.
-
Thanks for the responses and feedback everyone! Really helped👍

Spine Chill is awesome with Urban Evasion! Also top tier perk, very underrated. :/
Do you think I should be running urban with sprint burst though? They both have the same reason... evading the killer
