If the killer has given up and immediately opened a gate (and gone AFK), PLEASE 👏🏻JUST 👏🏻 LEAVE 👏🏻
Sorry that's against the survivor rule book, rule 15 states: A survivor must wait at the exit gate or hatch until the killer comes to the exit gate or hatch at which point the survivor will either T-bag and or run around and use dead hard into the exit.

1) Keys - No further explanation required
2) Streamer SWF with a toxic attitude (eg if they win, gg ez killer get good, if they lose, killer didn't play by the survivor rule book and is worse than hitler and we will talk ######### about them to the end of time) Wow who wouldn't want to sign up for that deal !!!

"THE DECISIVE REWORK WAS A BUFF"
Hell to de naw.
I remember playing killer in the old ds days. Once you got to the good survivors (top 10-15%) ? you got utterly screwed over as killer, I remember getting ready to play some dbd killer session just to walk away from playing killer cause of how the game design utterly ######### over the killer with the old d/s.
At the start of the game after a bit of looking you get the first chase, 1 being chased, the other 3 on gens for the most part. The other 3 have no reason to come off those gens until some one gets hooked.
Well since you're playing against the good players, at the start said good player has all the pallets to work with since it's the first chase, you can change targets if you want but the math is the same, 1 chased, 3 on gens.
So after you get the first down, and God forbid as killer you made a mistake in chase which just adds to how long it takes you to get that first downed survivor, BUT WAIT, after putting all that time in the case as gens get worked on BAM, get hit with D/S, so you don't even get that first hook, said survivor gets off and you continue the chase, the chase continues, more time for the other 3 to just stay on gens, and of course the survivor just goes to the area they had not gone to before to use those pallets and extend the chase.
Maybe you have not even got your first hook, 3 gens popped, maybe even 4.
BUT WAIT THERES MORE.
After finally getting that first hook, you go looking for some one else, you find them, chase begins, again some time goes into putting into this second chase you get them downed, you pick them up.........D/S strikes again !!! you continue the case, all the while gens have being worked on.
The counter play for killers when playing at the higher levels with old D/S ? Become a God tier nurse player or don't allow yourself to become a red rank killer or stop playing killer and people complain how it takes so long to find a game as survivor.
The more things change and all that eh ?

Lack of killers/lack of red rank killers means the red rank survivors searching gets expanded resulting in a green rank killer getting red ranks.
-
Wait, you can actually see the key in the lobby ? Well it's already your lucky day !
Sometimes when a game is stacked against you the only way to win is to not play at all.
Yeah I often see the whole, franks/mori/tunnel/camp proposed as a counter, suffice to say if those are proposed as "solutions" there is a big problem here.
To play as killer abiding by something resembling the "survivor rule book" (Sign up now for our free course) just to get the 1 gen, 2-3 down the hatch, taking out the last phase of the game (exit gates) where at least the killer will probably get a shot at some one and the gameplay that will follow if you get some one down/hooked at the exit gate stage of the game is a HUGE cost to pay on the killers side.
Everyone draws the line somewhere, to put effort into killer just to get that, more so with the key challenges, where some times you can't even see the key in the lobby, that's a deal breaker ladies.
Que survivors complaining about waiting times and getting more and more killers who just are just going to do camp/tunnel/mori.

Funny how 2-3 gens can pop before you find, chase and hook one survivor
Now 40-60% of the opposition's objective is completed before you take the first step in completing yours as a killer
You'd think the devs would realize that having nothing left but toxic meme killers might crash and burn their game, but apparently not
There does come a point where it could reach "crysis point".
I suspect there metrics on what constitutes such a crysis isn't the same as the players, it will be based on sales/in game transactions ultimately.
As long as money is still being made overall from their point of view things are all right. It just how the world works.

They can't tell the difference between an unintended d/c and the pulling of the plug so to speak.
Some people are going to get unfairly punished for their unintended d/c, but obviously the decision was made that the benefits overall of the d/c penalty system outweighs such costs, I think they are probably right.

What I have found is that there is a large number of people who are utterly dismissive of any and all killer sided issues. But you will get a ######### ton of insult and all manner of bs for your troubles as you try to explain why you are about to walk away from the killer side of dbd.
Killers walk, wait time increases, reasonable killers leave increased ratio of the bad type of killer results (some one who is just looking to increase as much misery as possible eg Mori/tunnel and isn't so much interested in having a "game") insert surprised pikachu meme for survivors here.
I have taken matters into my own hands and testing some strategies to make it worth playing killer for me, I had to cause I have one foot already out the door on the killer side.
Time will tell if it keeps me playing killer (regardless i'm playing less killer anyway) and/or some changes for the better happen sometime soon (not really counting on that one)
-
No as I don't use Moris.
Another problem with Moris its the go to move when bad blood happens, "next time I see this guy i'm gonna mori him, muhahahahaha" So you got the BS that is dead after first hook + added salt.
If i encounter that kind of certain survivor mentality (survivor rule book), I don't wan't to mori them, I want nothing to do with them, using a mori would still require putting effort in to play killer for them, i'd rather send them back to the survivor que.
Survivor wait times are the real killer............

Hear me out. When a killer is working together with a survivor to kill other survivors, it shouldn't be bannable for the killer, only for the survivor, period.
The killer is just taking advantage of a "not clever" survivor to win the game.
So for example, if that survivor unhooks everyone in front of the killer without BT and the killer decides to focus the unhooked survivors and let the trolling survivor go (because the killer knows he will continue sandbagging other survivors), it should only be bannable for the survivor.
Change my mind.
Nea agrees with this.

Killer mains like to think mori offerings are fine: after all, its rare and "only allow them to skip 1/3 of their objective". Ok, lets apply that way of thinking, but for survivors. If they had an ultra rare offering that made it so the generator time is only 2/3 of what it is right now, it would be great, no? It would be rare to meet one and it would "only allow them to skip 1/3 of their objective". So, dear killer mains, still wanna say moris are fine? If you say "yes", then it would be a good idea to add the offerings I mentioned above. Prove me wrong.
I find that mori (offerings) and keys in a way have something similar about them, I believe they cause more harm to the game than do good, as such should get deleted or at least re-worked.

Survivors dont know about moris why should killers know about keys?
I've always said moris are bs, I don't use them (except for a meme or something between known people). I've never seen a mori offering game as an actual game of dbd game, I see it more like a game of chess where some person just slams the chess board on the ground and screams dominos ######### and declares themself the winner. In both situations I'd just like to get it over and done quickly and move on, and even better to be avoided all together if possible, like keys...
So the mori thing when i'm playing killer isn't part of my equation since I don't use it and expanding on your own reasoning, if i don't use moris why do I have to deal with keys ? Am I going to take action to avoid that bs if possible ? Your God damm right I am.
Keys and Moris are the low hanging fruit that can easily be dealt with, as I see these things bringing more pain than joy and can just either get deleted or reworked.
The reason we should be more focused on the killer side of things isn't because the survivor side is nothing but puppies and rainbows, but rather that the killer side of things is worse.......much worse. The whole survivor wait times and who they eventually get matched with is a testament to that.

And you’re arguing against the rules of the game. Keys are as valid as flashlights, toolboxes, and med kits. But you have chosen keys to be your main gripe. An item that 90% of the time gets wasted, and not all of them are even capable of opening the hatch. You keep accusing me of being toxic, but I am not the one in this conversation that is disconnecting because somebody has chosen to use a legit item that I don’t like used. Do you think I as a killer like flashlights shined in my face at every pallet I break? Of course not, but I don’t disconnect over it. Grow thicker skin or don’t play the game. I don’t give a rat if people escape me using keys because killing absolutely everybody isn’t essential to my self worth. I’m sure that it you were any good of a killer you could shut that stuff down. Use Franklin’s Demise if it bothers you that bad. Just stop ruining people’s game over your bruised ego. Sheesh!

Ultimately you have to ask yourself, is it worth it for you ? When all is said and done, does the positive outweigh the negative ?
Granted you can try some strategies to tilt the equation more to the positive side, (ask me about what to dodge in lobbies, best lobby dodger in OCE) but never the less the question will still be, well is it worth it ?
This is coming from some one playing killer less and less with one foot already out the door.

Lol! You are quite the hoot. I play both survivor AND killer and, believe me, as far as this conversation goes I am pulling punches. Why? Because it isn’t worth it. Just a quick mention that keys aren’t going away ever, and there are challenges created to use them. Have fun!
That's the toxic survivor mentality right there, hey killer your gonna play regardless of conditions, your gonna play by the survivor rule book, and your gonna let yourself get screwed over by keys.
You expect people to continue a bad deal, utterly self defeating position.
A leads to B Leads to C.........I won't explain this again to you.

Your tiny mind thinks as such, killer d/c's unseen key, insult, insult, I win, good he don't play killer "time" will be saved.
BIG PICTURE, reasonable killers walk away, can't make the cost/benefit side of playing killer work and your overall waiting time increases and you get an increase in probability of bad games, eg Facing camping LF/Ebony Mori tunnel, because why bother playing reasonable if your just going to get ######### on ? Killers walk, yes even if you keep insulting them, even if you tell them, hey just play under these conditions, do it, I demand it, they still walk, and that is what makes your position self defeating, as the consequences of this mentality come to fruition and there you are wasting so much "time" on the survivor side.
Yeah but...................THE D/C !!!

And all because of a person like you. Thanks buddy! You rule!

Wow so unexpected.........
Here is a fun fact for you, I decided to not play killer tonight, you know take a break from "ruining the game"

So what do you suggest then? I would say remove second chance perks like ds.
Specifically on the "gen rush" issue, I don't think you can do something simple like, oh just add time to do gens, eg add 12 seconds each.
One interesting idea that I heard of was some kind of penalty/slow down to do gens at the start, until first hook/down/hit etc, this would be balanced with after the initial slow down phase the time to do gens later on would be less.
Also an idea about since survivors hate the whole camping thing, and killers hate the gen rush thing, an inbuilt game mechanic (not perk based) that buffs gen speed when killer is in a certain radius of hook and a gen repair penalty when outside of hook radius. Rewards non camping.
I'm not actually against d/s, bt, bodyblocks as in they should get removed (hey I play survivor too ya know), but the purpose of bringing those things up is to show how survivors get an easy time in a "normal" game vs a killer which goes to a balance issue. There is no simple fix here but we can start with the low hanging fruit that seems to bring more pain than joy, get rid of/rework moris, keys would be my start.

"even good billies"
Well of course otherwise the game would be unbalanced.
Which goes to my point about the lower margin of error for mistakes as killer, yes even as Captain Banjo.
-
@Reborn2020 said:
Thats not the case for hillbilly though . He can drop chase when he wants and start another one and it wont be like that you described for him and he s also able to down survivor in split seconds.
Well why doesn't everyone play Hillbilly ?
Cause there is a skill level using his chainsaw that needs to be attained that is alot harder to achieve than w+m1 before you can be effective constantly with a billy against lets say the top 10% and yes even good billies have games where they make mistakes and alas the gen popping begins.
Maybe in the perfect world we are all hillbillies, hillbillies everywhere

Go back and reread my initial post in this thread which you chose to debate me over. There is no revisionist history here. You took my opinion on the subject of disconnecting and went on a different tangent. My point remains the same as it always did. The only person disconnecting because of people carrying keys is YOU.
If the key is as easy to see as other items then I would not d/c, since I would dodge it in the first place. Kinda feel people who complain about the d/c on key miss that. it's all about d/c, d/c OMG the d/c. And for the sake of accuracy the d/c comes at the start of the game, when you first see the key in game, NOT mid game.
I think I can speak for other killers/former killers out there when I say with all the added bs a "reasonable" killer has to put up with, i'm not going to get f*cked over by a key, an invisible key I can't sometimes see in the lobby, something which has happens alot more lately I assume because of the key challenges.
Insult me all fooking day if you want, say nasty things, claim i'm ruining the game and what ever else you got.
That's a line for me to walk away from killer, and Ill bet i'm not the only one.
If every survivor had your attitude, you wouldn't have to worry about killers "ruining the game" cause there wouldn't be anyway.
Reasonable people walk away when things become unreasonable, so guess who is left when the reasonable killers go away ?
Still having trouble figuring it out ?
I'm gonna take a guess what is going in your head right now................. D/C, D/C,D/C, D/C

@Peasant said:
Real talk here, if you're having trouble seeing keys, maybe look at the hand instead? See, if a survivor has no item their right hand is open and empty. So if they're holding a key their hand will be a fist to grip the item. Maybe stop trying to look for a small hard to see object instead of looking for the sign that it's there?
Of course looking for the key I look for the closed fist/holding item. But that doesn't necessarily mean a key is there. Also there is the issue of how much of the hand you can see depending how they are standing.
Again, we don't have these conversations on medkits now do we.
So again, by design ?
-
@bburr10085 said:
As a killer main all I can saw it's not that hard to see if you look at there hand and it doesn't open up it's a key. If the hand snaps into place they just equiped the key right there. If you find it hard to play around a key just use Franklin's. If it's mid match and you didn't see it you should see it when you knock them then tunnel them out of the game to remove the key and wait to see if it drops. A key is a item you can play around if you pay attention and it's really not that hard unless they are playing a stealth play style. Hope you learn that it's not that hard to counter keys and most of the time when they get used it's only 1 or 2 survivors that escape which is the average or above average kills that you just got.
Sometimes I hear about using tunnel/mori as a response to key.
Suffice to say if we are talking about tunnel/mori as a response to a problem, something has gone greatly wrong, also I think you need to update your survivor rule book, 21st edition now available in all good book stores.
I have to disagree there have been times I have looked real hard, have NOT seen the key.
Crazy idea, here me out, make the key as easy to see as a med kit/box, I know, I know, I'm a mad man with mad ideas.

I’m not talking about people choosing not to play killer ever again, I’m talking about people choosing to disconnect in the middle of a game just because they are carrying a key. If you can’t see that then you are just seeing what you want. This discussion is going nowhere so I’ll leave you to your petty rambling.
There is NO explanation where you say that you’re disconnecting midgame and coming out to be the “good guy” in this discussion. You’re ruining the game for everybody else. End of story.
Excuse me ? You were clearly disputing my whole killers are walking away, and you were like, nah YOU are walking away blah blah blah. Then I referenced that whole survivor wait times vs killer time thing.
So no you don't get to make up revisionist history of what did or did not take place.
Did i mention that what is going to be left as reasonable killers leave is longer wait times to get a camping LF/hard tunnel mori killers cause everyone else has fracked off ?
But, but, YOU are ruining the game.
Kinda hard to ruin it ( at least on the killer side) when you play less and less till the point you hardly play at all.
Still having trouble figuring it out me thinks.

I don't have to be sold on the mori (offering) are bs. I'm coming from the view as killer who doesn't use mori as such the whole yeah but what about mori for killer as a counter to keys doesn't do anything for me here.
If i'm survivor and some one does the mori (offering) thing, I don't consider it a game, my attitude is fine take the kills have all the kills if you really want, lets just do this quickly so we can move on. I mean I could do something similar as killer where I don't see the "invisible" key at the lobby but then see it in game that doesn't involve the d/c.
Well that's if I can bother with another survivor que ? but who got time for that, where did all the killers go anyway. No where apparently, everything is fine, or as so I've been told.

It isn’t “killers” walking away, it’s just YOU walking away. That’s YOUR choice. I haven’t heard of anybody else doing it. Sure I may pass on a lobby if I get a sense that I am going to be outmatched, but disconnecting midgame is simply being juvenile. You’re being a bad sport and it is as simple as that. Sorry.

While I agree in principle that there are a lot of frustrations playing this game on both sides, I must say that it's kind of the point. There are very few popular games that don't incorporate frustration in some way. Look at dark souls as a prime example. Imagine if you could just reload your save and get a different boss until you have one you find easier. I would not have played. The randomness plus the pvp of this game is what make it great. I trust the devs to continue monitoring the experience and make small necessary adjustments based on data that can only be collected by them, rather than playing with brightly colored survivors on a flat plane with only 1 gen that the killer always spawns next to and takes an 3600 seconds to repair, or a killer with no weapon on a map the size of Texas with a gen every 2 meters
So when a situation is frustrating think about how it really impacted you. For me as killer a key in the game adds a sense of dread and urgency that I find every bit as exhilarating as having devour hope proc as a survivor, and appreciate that it is there
"For me as killer a key in the game adds a sense of dread and urgency that I find every bit as exhilarating as having devour hope proc as a survivor, and appreciate that it is there"
I suspect that MOST killers (including those who no longer do the killer thing) would NOT share this view.
MY view is pretty much the opposite of yours, when you play a reasonable game as killer, (no mori, no face camp) get to a bad start, then work your way up to a 1 gen, 3 survivors where the game could go either way and the survivors do their best bye felica as they go through the hatch, (now granted in my experience its usually that 2 go through together with 1 left on their own to MAYBE get the hatch again).
I would be more than happy to pass every lobby I see a key in to you, well if I could see the damm thing to begin with.
You love keys as killer ? you do you.

@FrootLoops said:
Why are you complaining that a key is hard to see when none of the survivors can see anything about the killer until they are in the match? Would you like it if the match ended as soon as you rev your chainsaw or the sleep timer starts or the phasing sound plays?
I don't regard that as anywhere near equivalent as can't see key = can't see which killer.
There is a larger context here about how much bs a survivor and killer has to put up with vs the benefit of playing survivor/killer that they key thing is merely apart of here.
Not going to go into detail on all of that, other than to say going by the lack of killers/survivor wait times this is telling you more and more people are saying ######### playing killer.
-
It's sad that killers have to do things to make it worth playing killer. Have you not noticed lately the survivor wait times ?
Dodging because of various reasons is the final straw to try and make playing killer worth it, the final straw before another killer walks away. If the game design is such that I can't even SEE the key to lobby dodge, yeah I will D/c, again, having to put up with the usual bs plus keys is a hard no from me, it's a deal breaker, I will simply walk away from killer if it's forced. Funnily enough all the insults and attitude by some people doesn't change the is it worth to play killer equation, some people really don't get that, not to bright if you ask me.
I agree that moris are bs, but I don't use them. So my view is coming from a killer who isn't bringing a mori, dare I say i'm a some what reasonable killer ?
More wait times, more "bad" games eg, camping leather face/mori's is what I suspect will happen if this course continues.
So lets see if we can maybe stop such a thing from happening ?
Step 1: Make keys as easy to see as say a med kit ? or am I a "cry baby" for suggesting such a thing ?

Assuming you play survivor and want to in the future, you really might want to start looking into those killer concerns, cause you know, there is more to life than waiting 5, 10, 15 mins to get a survivor game to face a LF who is going to face camp you all or the tunnel hard with mori killer becomes more and more as the "reasonable" killers have walked away.
The other options is to give the killers attitude, adopt a moral superior position of i don't care what your excuse is and enjoy sitting on your pedestal, cause your gonna have a long time to sit on it as you wait for a game as survivor.

It's amazing how much "de rank" or at least not ranking up as fast you can achieve say for instance you have the 4k but let the last guy have hatch, and the odd d/c cause you missed the ######### "hidden" key, or how maybe every now and then I start a game as killer, tab out, get distracted and looks like i was afk for the whole game. (whoops I'm so forgetful)
Now granted how much effect does it really have ? not as much as you think as a killer, cause of the lack of killers the red ranks survivors will just get their search expanded and once again get a game with a green/purple rank killer who is at that rank who is there but isn't deliberately self sabotaging.
But I'm certainly in no rush to get to being an "actual" red rank killer anytime soon.
