New patch favoring killers AGAIN

It's no surprise that the majority of the killer updates are buffs and the few ones survivors have are for perks I hardly ever see anyone use. And then they take one of the most popular and beginner friendly perks and absolutely destroy it. Also what the hell is the abandon/ surrender thing because they never explained how it affects points etc

Comments

  • Kinda disappointed by some of the survivor buffs ngl, but some of the perks definitely has potential

Yeah I really didn't like how some perk buffs were just buffing the tier 1 and 2 versions only

I still don’t get why perk tiers are a thing, it makes balancing so much more difficult and adds unnecessary clutter and grind for newcomers

I think the reason they gave if I remember correctly it's a core dbd aspect if they got rid of that it would dismantle dbd like the game would brick

    spaghetti code strikes again

Saying that the changes are for perks that nobody uses is literally the point. That's the point, to make them used more. And same with the killer ones. Nobody used monsterous shrine before, and i doubt they will now, but at least its something.

  • Do we really gonna start complaining about them buffing useless perks, that you never see? What about diversity? I thought survivors don't like going against the same perks and killers wanna see different builds as well

  • Machine Learning is now basically guaranteed for the whole match. Counterplay for survivors is removed as well.

Pop being replaced with undone or someone slotting monstrous shrine into their build doesn't change the fact that I am still facing gen focused slowdown/regression/blocking with the killer going for a tunnel out. Some of the chase perks will see play but the primary meta will not change.

The survivor changes will not change which perks survivors run because our perk slots are already filled with anti-tunnel (StB nerf, Borrowed Time nerf, no other changes), anti-slug (no changes), gen speed (stake out replaced by this is not happening, no real change). FmA will just replace windows and beginners will need to run both meaning less space for anti-tunnel (even easier tunnel on the player trying to learn). Flow State needs to hit 3 tokens before its healing speed approaches Botany, endgame unhook is the only real advantage. Empathic doesn't work on yourself so still botany. Road life? Better to just bring a medkit.

Monstrous shrine will absolutely see play, pair it with pain res (untouched) and the new undone to kick gens with built up tokens when someone isn't on a scourge hook. You get an uncleansable ruin up most of the match while still being able to kick gens when necessary.

Do you think killers will drop their four slowdown builds for buffed Whispers and Monstrous Shrine? They'd have to nerf those meta perks in tandem, like they're doing to the survivor side.

I feel like monstrous shrine is gonna need some serious looking into. It sounds good on paper, but... im just imagining every gen I've started regressing OUTSIDE of using the perk stop regressing after a save. That could very well result in negative benifit.

For monstrous shrine? Genuinely, yes, I definitely am gonna run it with jagged compass and now undone, just like I am going to run Ravenous on Spirit and gonna try out help wanted, it is better to try changing weak perks so that people have an incentive to use them, DMS also is getting nerfed and is not gonna work with pain res, they already nerfed all of the slowdown perks multiple times by now

Well I'm sure not. I'll continue to run PR, Lethal, Nurse's, Surge, and TBtC until they get nerfed. I'm not trading sure value for novelty.

they already nerfed all of the slowdown perks multiple times by now

Yet they're still the most popular perks and I promise you they're staying that way. And the last changes to Ruin and Pop were buffs.

  • A lot of generic survivor perks got some really nice buffs though and overall that's a really, really good thing for newer players. Besides, the more new players lean away from WoO the better, I'd rather them take de ja vu instead because them knowing which generators to prioritize is a lot better for survivability long term rather than knowing which pallets to pre-drop.

Its only up when the person is actually on the hook and you are 24 meters away from it, then it deactivates. It is not going to be good.

24m is not very far, if someone is unhooking they haven't been on a gen to go get that hook, that is a gen regressing unless they were paired up (at which point people are doubling gens). You can force someone off a different gen in the meantime leading to at most a single gen not regressing. If the survivors unhook quickly then the killer is still nearby leaving them vulnerable to a tunnel (and this perk becomes infinitely stronger in a 3v1). If the survivors don't unhook quickly you get the effect and can come back to trade/secure since its still monstrous shrine, its lose lose for the survivors and win win for the killer.

So what do you suggest? Nerf PS to 10%? Surge and TBTC to 5%?

The current numbers are already pretty low, and totally fair because you need to work for it use these perks.

Can you explain how? It’s very easy to make that blanket statement without any explanation of each of the changes and how it they favor killer more than survivor. Without explanation, this seems like a knee-jerk reaction from a survivor-sided point of view.

But you might get to see different icons in the end game screen? Is that not enough of a meta shakeup for you :)?

The bigger issue with the healing perks is, being they can't stack, they're all just slight variations of the same theme. They aren't really meaningful buffs. Instead of running botany I can now run things that are basically the same as botany. Yay, buffs.

That seems to be a lot of the 'buffs' on the survivor side in the diminishing returns world - instead of using perk A you can now use perk B instead and its slightly different.

  • Maybe you're talking about Windows of Opportunity, but honestly, I don't see how a game where you just run from one highlighted pallet or window to the next without really thinking is supposed to be fun.

A big part of DBD should be figuring things out yourself — where to go next, whether to use a pallet or save it, and how to connect one tile to another.

Winning because you read the situation and made the right decisions feels way more satisfying, and honestly healthier for the game, than just following highlighted resources around the map.

  • There's a lot of healing speed buffs added to nearly every survivor perk. But what does that matter, killers were buffed!
