Invoking Salts

So how does everybody feel about the Invoking salts in 2v8? Is it a waste of time, overpowered, or just right? Could it be made into a future item or Invocation perk? Example

While in the Basement next to the circle, use Active Ability Button 1 to invoke. While invoking, other Survivors see your Aura and can join your Invocation.

When the Invocation is completed:

All Survivors are granted a 5% Haste Status Effect for 300 seconds. (If to powerful it can be nerfed so only injured survivors are granted the Haste)

Every 60 seconds this bonus is reduced by -1%.

You become injured.

You gain Broken.

Each Invocation can only be completed once per trial.

  • I like the idea of being able to place an Invocation where you want. I like that it has no Broken. I think these things should be considered for 1v4 to make these not the worst perks in the game. I also like the visual more.

But in 2v8, I hate them. Probably half my survivor loses can be attributed to these stupid things, with some people doing them repeatedly during the match. It's gotten to where if I find them I dump them in a bush so they can't be seen.

Good idea. Of course the quest didn't help but because it's a new thing people want to try it, even when there are only 1-2 gens left. Quite annoying.

  • This content has been removed.
  • I like it because its a fun new sidequest. The rewards for the invocations are whatever not mad at it. But apart from that, id rather do something else during that match than a 60 second ritual

“Probably half my survivor losses can be attributed to these stupid things” - wouldn’t that also be the case if these were in 1v4 mode, especially if you’re solo queue and not coordinating with teammates on comms?

  • I like the idea of them but in practice, especially since they only apply to the players in the circle, they feel like a waste of time and feels a bit selfish. I think if the bonus applied to everyone instead of just players in the circle it would feel better. Can make it so players in circle get a higher/longer bonus than those outside but everyone gets a bonus Maybe make it so the short term bonus is different depending the class someone is running.

From my understanding they meant that the current invocations should be able to be performed anywhere and not make broken, to make them actual useable Perks.

It's not like it's impossible to win in solo. It's pretty rare I see people just opening chests or cleansing totems in 1v4, which would be the equivalent.

I've had some abysmally bad killers that would have lost if there hadn't been multiple people doing Invocations. Like you've got four people on the map participating and four sitting around. The ones participating are getting chased or going for unhooks and no one is on gens during that time. Even someone who sucks in chase can do a gen in 1v4, but if they're spending the whole match opening chests looking for this garbage then wasting time doing the ritual then they are beyond useless.

I think they knew what they were doing making it a quest.

  • I don't really get the benefits of it, I'll be real.

For the time commitment and rarity, it should effect all survivors in some way (that isn't just free gen repair please)

  • I like the idea enough, and the benefit is handy for the brief period of time. The worst part is the quests that have resulted in people chest hunting instead of gen hunting lol

  • survivors are comically overpowered so I appreciate having incentives to sandbag the match. Encouraging inefficiency in the name of fun is good I think.

I had some good fun baiting killers into complete time waster chases. Killers don't really realize you are haste boosted.

It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things because catchup mechanic exists. Just watch out for generator progress. those are my thoughts as John Invocation himself

This is also the reason why they shouldn't buff it too much now, if they reduce the time, then it is gonna be actually busted, having haste for 5 minutes on top of the other things survivors have in 2v8 would be insane, but then again, it is a more casual brain off mode, where most survivors don't know how to use most things and you still need to get it from chests, but they definitely have to be somewhat careful with it

  • In 2v8 - it's pretty bad. As a random item you have no way to plan around it. If the plan is to get one and then engage the killers in chase, you might waste a lot of time looking for one.

Even when you do activate it, there's a lot of possibilities that make it bad

A: You are better at chase than the killer and don't need it (in my experience, the killers who commit to these chases I probably didn't need the added haste to loop)

B: You get double teamed, making it ineffective

C: The killer sees how fast you are moving and just goes to another survivor

D: You just end up doing gens/healing

So it is a guaranteed loss of time (which might get interrupted) for a benefit that might not even be useful.

For 1v4 - I think Invocation's have to be permanent benefits - given the risks associated with going to the basement, the time commitment (leaving the others in a 3v1), and then permanent broken status, the tradeoff has to be pretty substantial to justify those costs.

Now the issue with it being a haste boost in 1v4 is that haste is a lot stronger in 1v4 (somewhat killer dependent). So any type of permanent haste boost would likely be too strong, any type of temporary one likely too weak.

It's bad, it should activate faster at least or you waste a lot of time and you need to find them in chests so its quite rare too, plus 5% haste is nothing when killers only double teaming everyone, it should not decay at least

5 percent haste is not something trivial, you especially feel the sting if you are a 4.4/M1 killer.

However, I think they are fine, if anything, not even that good due to having to find them + spend precious seconds that could have been used to pop a gen.

    Gimmicky, but not OP.

  • I hope there are no more quests involving them as they are terrible when people are just trying to complete their quest. They need to either be used well or ignored. They are a massive negative for the survivor side when people are hiding in corners doing them solo and/or when people are wasting time hiding them.

It's not too bad in 2v8 because almost all the killer classes provide haste at some point, on top of the buffed "innate skills".
