This is just a rant about toxicity

I know this game has many issues including the idea of this game being "competitive" but seriously what is the point of being toxic towards someone even if they didn't do anything wrong and I'm getting sick of hearing the bullshit excuse of "it's just a game" so what if it's just a game your still talking to a person I know I sound soft as hell but at the sametime having to deal with that ######### over and over just builds up and it honestly just gets annoying

Behaviour has a ton of problems don't get me wrong but they did not "Create" that space. they have a simple chat function and even a filter and people are in those pictures purposefully avoiding the filters.

plenty of other games address this behaviour with lengthy bans in response to report, no other game of this size has me experiencing this this frequently

They for some reason are really slow on bans. I can understand ignoring reports about camping, but the obvious chat reports like this should really be an easy ban.

I’ve seen stuff like this in post-game chat too - many times - and not once has BHVR responded to any of my reports. I don’t know why they even have an option to report chat abuse because they clearly don’t anything with those reports. It’s hard to believe that they actually care about an inclusive gaming environment when they do absolutely nothing about hateful stuff like this.

The in-game reporting feature and this forum are just here to give you a place to vent and cool off. Their real purpose isn't to actually solve your problems, but rather to keep you from going to unofficial platforms and damaging the game's reputation.

  • Thing is, this is not a DBD thing. This is an anonymity of the internet thing. Every situation where someone can hide safely behind a screen will have some nastiness involved. BHVR do hand out bans for post-game chat bs (a popular streamer recently copped a temp ban for saying ######### in chat) but someone will always be there to replace them. Kids and adults who never learned to control their emotions will always exist and unfortunately the rest of us have to share space with them.

anonymity isn't the only factor, the total lack of consequences is equally as important a component

i'm not even talking about bans specifically, bhvr never discuss the bigotry and toxicity problems they cultivate, never make a point of telling people acting that way is unacceptable, and never make statements about any plan to address them

  • Just pointing this out of those who claim harassment is not punished in the game. I got two reports of harassment where action was taken just last month. Report them in the game and move on it might take some time to happen but they do react to those reports. They most likely have a huge backlog of reports as would imagine people do even false reports a lot. Can't count how many times someone stated they reported me for cheating when I played totally normal or they did not get what the perk did that I used that they never see as nobody uses it.

I can't speak for them, but i imagine they don't give too much energy to it because that sort of acknowledgement just motivates trolls. They crave attention and reactions. Like back when POC streamers were being targeted by hackers wearing the old Claudette face-mask on Bubba, the devs didn't make a big announcement iirc. They simply removed the masks.

  • Makes me glad I play on xbox sometimes and don't have access to the egc. Is there a way for ppl to directly report toxic message son egc or do they just have to submit a report using the normal system?

I'll get the occasional salty direct message from another xbox player but thankfully most of my interactions tend to be chill.

No call for ppl to be racist or homo/transphobic though. Ppl like that need quick and lengthy bans.

You report them for harassment in the ingame report system.

Ah so no chance to quote the offending message then. That would streamline things a bit quicker

When you do the report it saves the match and the end game chat on the server side. Most likely in this case it saves the chats only as its hard to do harassment in the match itself. So they do get the logs of it.

Yep - it’s the total lack of consequences. People know that they can say the most vile and hateful things to others in the post-game chat and never worry about getting banned.

yeah I understand what you are saying but its a problem of Behaviour being overly lazy in general. the game itself is in a horrible state right now and ultimately you can just cut off chat if its a problem. I would rather them fix issues that are actually affecting the gameplay than bother with chat, i don't care what people call me at all, I can just go next. ultimately the chat is useless as it is anyway, the only time in DBD you really don't need to communicate is after a match, they could just strip it to a system of a visible thumbs up, thumbs down system.

Edit: its not a good thing at all, but I definitely experience toxicity like that in other games, I play Dota a decent amount and the things that come through voice comms can be considerably worse, but maybe Behaviour could solve the problem for DBD the same way DOTA has, a communications score from 0 to 12,000 that goes up and down based on how you choose to act in games, the lower it is the more communication functions are locked out for you.
