Tips for Pinhead please.

I have been playing a lot of Pinhead lately and I think his design is really neat but I get so frustrated playing him. His main power feels so terrible I am ngl. I feel like there is no reward for actually landing your shots with him.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a right time and a wrong time to get hits with your power? Let me know. I would love some help.

  • I think that one addon that makes his chains respawn when they get broken by environment is mandatory or something idk @100PercentBPMain has to answer this one i think.

  • aww, thanks yall. I'm honoured! I feel a little bad, as if I should have a secret weapon for exactly this moment!

but that's the neat part...there is no reward. It is just suffering. It's not always even your fault. The chain power is medium risk/medium-low reward, and on some levels you will struggle to secure a single health state.

It's why I crash out over Laras because how do you secure a lead vs 3 people with Finesse+ Lithe? I usually only 1 regression perk max so the math is simply against us. If you're playing Chaos Shuffle and you see Fixated you basically have to never chase that person because you're a trapless Trapper.

Cenobites just a killer that has to come out and overwhelm everybody, and then maintain that pressure the entire match. A single "recovery" can often put you in a position you'll never come back from. So you're basically forced to immediately grab the box on spawn, and from there try to maintain Chain Hunt uptime while also forcing pressure elsewhere. Sometimes it's about being patient and waiting for an opportune time for the Box while the survivors are busy or make a mistake. Against good survivors on a good map it's sometimes all you have to pray for. This killer cannot come back from the brink without an opportunity or a mistake.

This killer needs some kind of info so you can help triangulate that box. Sometimes it's worth letting it sit there just because sometimes it's in a really mean spot. Swamp though....ugh I swear it ALWAYS spawns on the docks. there's so much empty space there.

I used to use the Jason build on him to help reinforce that early game oppression but I've been trying to get away from that. I've found Deerstalker to be cute for helping deal with my worst enemies, the sneaky box stealer.

I wish I had some real advice, though. At the very least, his iri box addon should help add some inefficiency so survivors can't easily just beeline the box. REALLY confident survivors will just take the box and never solve it. That's how little respect we command sometimes. Good luck on a pallet filled map.

I'm unironically thinking of transitioning from no power Krasue to no power Pinhead because I wish I were joking by saying I 4k with no power Krasue but I struggle immensely on Pinhead some days. So why not have a box help me while I'm at it haha

Its not an easy life, as you'll end up wanting to play Ghoul or even Legion. As much as I hate to say it, I prefer to face Pinhead than play him. If you stick with him for a while all your Pinheads will suffer as you have.

I did a horrible job reassuring you, but I attribute all my dbd skill to Legion+ Cenobite. these killers will sharpen your macro gameplay. Just gotta recognize the lost games when you get em and not get tilted by the bad games. These are the games I try to go for fancy chain curves. One day I'd love to be more confident and rock the turn rate addons.

You get pre ran pretty hard, so Distressing just isn't helping. Don't sweat it, buddy!

Okay first of all: not you dropping the Cenobite Gospel on my little goofy thread 😭 🤣

For real though, this actually helps a ton. Hearing you say ‘there is no reward, it’s just suffering’ lowkey made me feel way less crazy, because that’s EXACTLY how it feels when I’m getting pre-ran to Narnia.

I’m gonna try leaning into the box timing / chain hunt pressure more and just accept that sometimes the map + survivors = pain and nothing I do fixes it. Thank you for the essay, professor Pinhead. I hate this killer and also now I wanna queue him again, so… mission accomplished I guess 😂

Devs if you’re reading this….Pinhead needs to be less frustrating to play as. His main power barely slows the survivor down in 90% of his uses.

its a bit of a weird conundrum for me because I adore the fact that Pinhead is merely Seeker of Pleasure #5, no other killer wants the same thing survivors do. BHVR could nerf chain hunts and buff the possessed chain but I worry he'd just be Clown 2 and he'd lose his flavour. We could really use a couple minor things like smarter portals and not allow Pinhead to break his own chains. I used to be against that but I think its the best way to make them feel better without actually touching the killer

  • Currently he isnt much rewarding you need one addon that spawns more chains.

Look at some pinhead main and you will see how you should land his chain so chains wouldnt break so fast by enviroment or by your character model when you push him, this is very important more then people realize I would say it makes huge difference in getting hit or just almost getting hit.

Second thing is cube the more you get your hands on it the more preasure you have.

Pinhead is getting more outdated but he is still viable, fact is the rate in skill requirement to reward is way worse then with nurse or henry which simular powers in landong part.

  • I decided to check my stats because I feel like I have under 60% win rate but he's still one of my higher wins rate killers at 63%. He gets some imposter syndrome like The First. My Krasue and Freddy are on top somehow.

if you wanna be evil, Pinhead can cause some psychological damage with the hexes with Chatterers Tooth you have an on demand "rip people off totems" but don't tell anybody I said that lol. Blood Favour and Devour Hope can go hard sometimes if you enjoy that. Engineers Feng is legitimately a terrible addon that gives you 0 chase power but some games that doesn't even matter so yoy can pair it with some hex builds

Yeah exactly. He needs a buff. Some fine tuning.

  • I kinda miss the Hoarder days that perk has seen no use since then :(

  • Hope you get a solo queue team and then it’s GGEZ win. Either everyone is going to for box and gens never get done, or no of goes for the box and it’s permanent chain hunt.
