Chaos Shuffle - unplayable and just not fun
This is my honest feedback about Chaos Shuffle. I genuinely don’t understand why this mode still exists in its current form.
I don’t think it should give players completely random perks. Instead, it should give random builds. Right now, you can end up with perks that don’t work with your item, don’t synergise with each other, and don’t complement what your teammates have. It just doesn’t make sense, and in my opinion, it isn’t enjoyable or even that playable.
It would make much more sense if there were preset builds, like a healing build, looping build, gen build, stealth build, or other themed builds where all four perks actually work together. The items should also match the build. That way, instead of trying to memorise 16 completely unrelated perks every match, you’d only need to recognise four different builds. Everything would have a purpose and actually synergise.
The biggest problem is that there’s no time to read everything. Before the match starts, you’re expected to read your own four perks, understand how they interact, then check the perks of all four survivors. That’s 16 random perks with no connection to each other. It’s impossible to memorise anything because nothing correlates. Every match just feels like a pile of random effects thrown together.
If it were based on builds instead, it would be much easier. I could immediately think, “Okay, I have the healing build, Rebecca has the looping build,” and instantly understand what everyone’s role is. The builds would also be designed to complement one another, making teamwork much more natural.
The mode is called Chaos Shuffle, but I don’t think “chaos” should mean that nothing works together. Chaos can still be fun if there’s some structure behind it. Right now, it just feels random for the sake of being random, and that doesn’t make for enjoyable gameplay.
Because of that, I honestly don’t see the appeal of this game mode. I always end up ignoring it because I don’t find it fun, and I don’t really understand why some people enjoy it in its current state.

i prefer the chaos over now every single game will also just be like regular with the same kinds of playstyles and perks as before just some with different names.
theres probably thousands of different build combinations having to work all that out and code it is not really reasonable for a mode thats around for a week.
The only thing I agree with is the time it takes to read. I have thousands of hours in this game but I also dont know every Perk (especially the really bad ones, since I read them once, used them once in the Adept and thats about it), so even I have to read. Will be even harder for players with less experience.
I think at least your own Perks should be shown in the Loading Screen. But on the other hand, I understand why they are not doing it, because there is a risk that players would DC in the loading screen if they dont have good Perks.
If people want to make a point of something people should stop stating something "unplayable". Clearly the mode is not unplayable. Its totally playable of how it is meant to be played.
Why are you not suggesting another mode where there would be builds? Why we need to change a mode that some people enjoy to something else? Your change also does not remove anything people still would need to read what the perks they get if they don't know them. Like changing it to builds would not remove that.
Chaos literally means lack of organization. Your build change would literally make it organized not real chaos. Chaos Shuffle should stay as chaos. Your suggesting could be another mode where you get random assigned build.
It's unplayable because nothing make sense hence why I don't see the point. Even in 'chaos' there needs to be organisation. i know, sounds contradicting but it really isn't.
If you make a game mode that doesn't relate to anything I'm questioning why do some enjoy it? I'm genuinely curious. Some ppl find loosing matches and bad teammates as unplayable and I disagree with that. I can enjoy my time even with bad teammates and if i loose (i have a bad time if they're purposely body blocking me though). So that is what i mean by unplayable.
My suggestion is to make the game mode more fun and playable base on what i think and base on some sort of structure. Not a diff mode.
right now im just unsure how ppl play this game mode. because if 3 perks dont work with each other or with my item then its an UNPLAYABLE perk. it becomes redundant, obsolete. so again, unplayable.
I like it because it forces players to utilize perks that are often outside of our comfort zone. The reading issue will be fixed over time through experience.
Once again its not unplayable. You just don't like the mode because you don't enjoy it. That is fine but it does not make it unplayable not even for you.
Also don't really get how you have no problem of having bad teammates but somehow you having bad perks makes the game unplayable. I would take good teammate with random perks over bad teammate with a build as good player does not rely on their perks to play well. Perks help but if you can't loop without them you are not good player.
"Hehe funny perk I never used I will try and get value out of it" and "I know I got a mess of a build, but most likely others too so nobody brought the most potent stuff" are the 2 main reasons people like chaos shuffle
It's fun because of the pure gamble if you or the enemy get something good or worthless. It's insanely funny to see a trapper that's basically useless because he only has the most useless stuff, at the same time it's pretty funny to start into the match and see someone with no mither sometimes even multiple people.
I see what you mean with the differents builds you could also get assigned randomly, but I honestly like to play like this more - it's just more chaotic.
That being said I would also play a perkless gamemode because it's from time to time really exhausting to think about any perk that could destroy you in this second. So maybe I also like it because I don't have to think about the perks most likely :D
I had once Chaos Shuffle match in earlier iterations where we had two No Mither players and still I think most of us escaped so its not even a death sentence people seem to relate it to.
I guess that depends if you focus them or not. Someone with no mither and nothing else won't live long most of the time. That being said you will use more palettes and therefore make it harder for the other people :D
Because it's just a game and someone trying their best isn't going to make me have a bad time or rage on them?
Having maybe one useful perks and everything else unusable is unplayable in my opinion and doesn't make sense for a game mode.
but the point of dbd is for perks to utilize with one another so when none of them work together im like, whats the point then? haha. that's all im saying. to me it just feels like im playing a dbd mode with no perks on. that's honestly how it feels.
When i dont want to think about perks i just play 2v8 haha. and the only thing i would find funny in chaos shuffle is who's the chosen one for No Mither but that's about it haha
The point of dbd, like any game, is to have fun. Which way you have fun is entirely subjective. Some people like randomness, some people don't, it's normal.
If you dislike chaos shuffle as it is, that's fine. Suggesting a different style for a mode is also something that's welcome, atm the only modes we have are getting repetitive, having specific builds but you get a random one as a mode does sound interesting to try at least, but that's up to bhvr
I don't think I've ever got No Mither value in Chaos Shuffle. Most Killers won't leave you on the ground because it's so obvious when a Survivor loads in broken that they've got it. I don't think I've seen anyone else get value out of the perk either. That said, if I'm doing well on Killer I'll sometimes let the No Mither player get at least one self pick up with it just because I pity them for being so unlucky.
Genuinely one of the worst Survivor perks in the game. It's well overdue a rework.
