Why only survs main are allowed to get fun and a fair match?
This is going to be a long one, okay?
The first time I played this game was in 2018. Back then, one slowdown perk (usually 'Ruin') was enough to have a decent match with almost any killer. Today, every build is choked with slowdown perks; if you don't have at least 2 or 3 perks to delay generators, you don't even stand a chance. Meanwhile, survivors can put together builds with a huge variety of options (when I play survivor, I never feel pressured about not having new perks, because the old ones are enough and offer a variety of playstyles). I want to play and have fun with different builds (even if it's just swapping out 2 perks from the standard slowdown meta), but nowadays, that almost guarantees a loss.
A while back, survivors were given a bunch of base-kit perks. "It's to prevent tunneling," they said, but the reality is that it provides an unintended advantage—one the devs pretend not to see. In every match, a survivor coming off the hook uses their Endurance to shield their rescuer from an attack and block the killer's path, giving the other survivor an extra 30 seconds of chase time that can cost you the match. In contrast, what did killer players who don't tunnel get? NOTHING. What do we get for rotating hooks? T-bagging and insults at the end of the match.
Why do these kinds of changes always benefit the survivors' overall win condition if the goal is just to prevent a specific behavior? If it were fair, something like this would happen: "Endurance doesn't activate if the survivor is within 3m of another survivor and more than 12m away from the hook." That would prevent tunneling without penalizing someone who just wants to go after a different survivor.
Yesterday, I lost at least two matches because survivors (in an SWF group) sabotaged all my hooks, forcing me to drop the person I was carrying. The slugging strategy typically used in these situations was nerfed for being "too toxic," but is this kind of survivor behavior fair? In another match, the survivors brought four toolboxes and a "Brand New Part," finishing the first generator in about 30 seconds—before I could even find them. At that moment, I knew there was nothing I could do to win the match (and not even a minute had passed); it’s a completely disheartening feeling.
If I, as a killer, decided to use an external tool to make things easier, I’d be considered a cheater; yet when a survivor does it (using Discord), everyone turns a blind eye. (And yes, I’ve played with friends and understand the game is much more playable with voice chat, but it’s not a built-in game feature, and it undeniably provides an advantage that wasn't accounted for in the game design.)
Years ago, I bought Sadako; I loved playing her even though she wasn't very strong. After her second or third rework, she ended up in a terrible state—completely unplayable. I felt misled by the devs, and since then, nothing has been done to bring her back to a satisfactory state. That’s not to mention the various other killers who are just as bad off and have also been forgotten by the devs. I haven't bought any DLC since then—even when I think the character looks cool—because I realized Behavior doesn't care much about the player and just wants to profit from the next release (at least, that’s how it feels to me).
I stopped playing for over a year because I felt the game was deeply unfair. I came back a month ago, and the feeling has only gotten worse; it seems like to have a satisfying match as a killer, you have to play as if your life depends on it, and I don't think a game should make me feel that way. Today, in 2026, I can still play decently with the same survivor build I used back in 2018; however, as a killer, I constantly have to keep up with updates and buy new perks just to play without getting frustrated—and that simply isn't fair.
It would be great if the devs threw a bone to killer players—perhaps by buffing perks but categorizing them to prevent excessive stacking—so we could fairly experiment with different playstyles. I even think adding in-game voice chat would be worth it, provided that perks and killers were balanced with that feature in mind. I don't want to be forced to play only top-tier killers just to have a reasonably fun match.
I think that covers it; apologies for any translation errors.
Comments
I only used google translator…
Doesn't seem to be ai, Google translate does over punctuate things and use extra symbols and whatnot. It also says apologies for any translation errors at the bottom so..
Endurance is for the unhooked survivor. How is an unhooked survivor—who was unhooked by another survivor—supposed to stay 3m away from their unhooker?
What basekit buffs did survivors get that help with slugging?
Killers do use permissible external elements for advantages. Reshade, high end headphones, aiming sights, etc. The difference is that everyone has access to Discord, which dbd has an official server for where they have voice channels for people to use.
Meanwhile, survivors can put together builds with a huge variety of options (when I play survivor, I never feel pressured about not having new perks, because the old ones are enough and offer a variety of playstyles). All survivors have for variety is builds, killer variety comes from all of the different killers.
Also this doesn't really jive with what you say later:
Today, in 2026, I can still play decently with the same survivor build I used back in 2018That statement is much closer to most people's experience, very little has changed meta wise on the perk front for any substantial amount of time (every now and then something comes in for a few months before being nerfed).
In contrast, what did killer players whodon'ttunnel get? NOTHING. What do we get for rotating hooks?Well, if you aren't tunneling the basekit endurance has very little impact.
There was also a huge idea to combine anti-tunnel with basekit benefits for unique hooks, it was primarily shot down by killers.
Why do these kinds of changes always benefit the survivors' overall win condition if the goal is just to prevent a specific behavior?Survivors used to have builds to make themselves unhookable. One of the counters to this was putting more hooks onto the map. I've never heard anyone suggest that killers shouldn't use these hooks.
Yesterday, I lost at least two matches because survivors (in an SWF group) sabotaged all my hooks, forcing me to drop the person I was carrying.Okay, what happened after that? That means all the survivors aren't on gens. On future downs did you slug and look for sabos, go to unusual hooks, etc? Sabo plays can work, but both sides of ways to play around it.
At that moment, I knew there was nothing I could do to win the match (and not even a minute had passed); it’s a completely disheartening feeling. You're down one gen, the earliest gens are the hardest ones to defend. That doesn't seem particularly devastating.
I constantly have to keep up with updates and buy new perks just to play without getting frustrated—and that simply isn't fair.Nurse is still the best killer.
What's the new perk that killers 'have' to have? The meta on them seems to be just as stagnant as on survivors.
I don't want to be forced to play only top-tier killers just to have a reasonably fun match. You can play whatever you want, but you seem to be conflating fun with winning. There's lots of builds I like to play as survivor, but know there's only a few I should really run if I want to maximize my chances of winning.
Average kill rate is 60%. That feels pretty fair to me.
If you are 12m (or maybe 16m or whatever) away of the hook, its distance enough to get 3m (three meters) away from another surv (its literally 3 steps to the side), you not getting tunneled, good, but you not suposed tanking a hit for another surv, abusing this system.
Good headphones = cheat? I mean you suposed to hear the game (otherwise the game did not have sound). But use a external software to get advantage is literally cheat. Imagine if every killer use a software to see through the walls, isnt fair right?
Are you saying you don't want the endurance to kick in until the survivor has moved away from their unhooker and not right off hook?
My TV has an aiming sight built in. No idea if using it would be considered cheating but there's no way for anyone to prove it if I was. Reshade is also white listed. These things are external advantages for killers. People's experience aren't even. Someone playing on a Switcn isn't having the same experience (or advantages) as someone on a high end PC.
