Could a Gen Undo Perk work?

Like once per match you can break a repaired generator to set it to 0 charges. The generator gets 60 permanent charges.

Or survivor perk, once per match when at least one generator has been repaired, while repairing a generator, click E to instantly finish the generator. Another completed generator becomes undone. Half of the Charges on the generator that has been repaired like that get transferred to the undone generator.

That way you could counter 3-Gen as survivor.

  • That sounds good in theory but I could see potential griefing taking place.

Also this is kinda what Potential Energy is supposed to be for. They just need to buff it so that you don't lose all your stacks when hit (maybe losing something like 5-10 stacks would make this perk so much more useable).

The problem with not losing stacks with it is the problem with so many other survivor perks though, if all 4 survivors take it, you could spread around "work" on gens then all dump it into the same gen and basically instantly complete it (especially when stacking gen perks/toolboxes/etc.

So the perk on its own is totally fine and needs buffs, but when 4 stacking it, its a problem.

It's why i think they should have done diminishing returns based on how many survivors take the perk not on your own perks. So if all 4 survivors take the same perk, then it becomes weaker for them. And then only have that apply to the more problematic ones like fast track and such.

Could be an Invocation. Whoever activates it only gets broken once they use it

  • Break the gen at 5% and it's suddenly halfway completed.

I think they need to increase the number of stacks you can carry to like 40~50. Would make it a lot more usable.

Right, which is why I said losing 10 stacks instead of all of them on a hit would be more preferable to what we have now. Though maybe making it a percentage-based loss of stacks on hit would be preferable.

I don't think a buff like that to Potential Energy would make things get all that out of hand even if 4 people brought it, because it's not like you get extra progress while you're charging your perk.

Even with 4 people using this perk, they still incur the repair speed penalty if multiple people are trying to repair or charge PE of the same gen. They still have to hope that they don't have any stacks while being chased (or go on a ridiculous chase that makes the killer want to find someone else).

And then there's the opportunity cost of not bringing a more general perk that could help you in some other way.

I'd at least like to see this tested on a PTB before they fully commit to the change.

  • No, undoing permanent progress is unhealthy. Its why Shoulder the Burden is one of the most problematic perks in the game. Imagine a perk for killer that undos a finished gen by setting its progress back to 45 charges whilst also sending another gen 45 charges. It would be incredibly game breaking just like how StB is.

Except shoulder the burden doesn't undo overall progress, it's a lateral move to stop every blight under the sun from tunneling someone out at 5 gens. If it actually removed a hook state from the killer, then it would be a major issue.

Except for every other killer in the game who also gets punished by shoulder the burden. Nevermind Vigil also removing one of the only downsides to actually using the perk

Why do you think Shoulder the Burden is problematic? It’s extremely risky to use - if the killer goes after the unhooker, who is now exposed, that’s two quick hooks states for that survivor. I very rarely see anyone use it in my matches, and there’s a reason for that. It’s just not that good.

It does not undo but is still problematic which is what I was trying to show with my example killer perk. Imagine the said perk being able to recreate a broken 3 gen, that is essentially what Shoulder does, removing immediate pressure by spreading hook states.

It is not risky to use it at all.. Just stealth for pull and use it when the killer is committing to a different chase/is far from hook. Even if its a killer like Billy, Blight, Kaneki etc who can return to hook incredibly fast, the unhooked person can use basekit BT to prevent a trade, not to mention the person who is running Shoulder can use something like Sprint Burst or Vigil to reach safety more easily by either getting to a strong structure and/or shortening the exposed effect. I have 80% escape rate with this perk alone, it is very strong for survivors.

Nerf blight and A tiers to B tier if you want shoulder nerfed. Otherwise it's necessary at high levels of play. Killer power creep keeps shoulder a necessary perk.

80% escape rate? Across how many matches? Can you show screen shot of stats? If this is real, I’m impressed

80 percent escape rate with Shoulder the Burden.

My escape rates across my top 3.

  • That’s very good! A good inspiration for anyone complaining about how the survivor role is too hard 😉

Do you play solo or SWF?

    Mostly SWF.

  • This Could work as a Killer perks. But i would have to say it should only be a 1 time perk because being able to undo Gens at will. Will be a bit over doing it. And make it have half permanent progress as well.

Perks shouldn't determine the outcome of a match. Survivors should not have control over the game.

    It's insanity to think otherwise.

Exactly. You shouldn't have to use a perk to even COMPETE with a killer. Hence nerf all killers A tier and above, then you can remove shoulder the burden.

And since you think your argument is a gotcha, please direct your attention to: pain res, corrupt, lethal, dead man's switch, surge, almost every iri addon for killer, noed, no way out, etc.

I'm so damn tired of having to stare at the wall for 20 seconds every time a teammate gets picked up because I have to anticipate the gen exploding/blocking multiple times.
