There is a reason, and it's why they changed it. It's more immediately familiar to new players.
If you're coming into DBD from other games, which again most games use this color scheme, you can now immediately get a feel for how rare an item or addon is purely by what color it is.

Oh, I may have worded it incorrectly. There is not a single GOOD reason for them to do that.
The confusion they have caused by changing the colors between old and new players (guides mentioning yellow medkits, colorblind players, ect.) far outweighs the moment of confusion for new players when the color is slightly different than other games.

Because Fortnite is apparently a pinnacle of game development so we must make DBD a carbon copy of it, but "horror".

Yeah not a fan myself. Like if people want that sure…make it an option. Don’t force it though. Just give us a choice.
This color system dates all the way back to Diablo 1.
World of Warcraft is technically the game that made it an industry standard.
Most games with item rarities use this color system, not just Fortnite. DBD was kind of an outlier.
