Can you tell me why

I recently had a game I had to take a call before game started. I forgot I'd pressed start to search for a game.

I returned to find all gens done and all 4 survivors bobbing up and down, fast vaulting a pallet and opening and closing a locker.

Must have been a good few minutes I watched them before one left and opened exit gate which had been 99'd.

Why? What do you get out of that?

They could have been doing that for a good few minutes before I returned making it pointless as I wasn't there to see it.

When it's blatantly obvious I'm not playing why would you not just leave and play a new game?

Even when I returned I'm hardly likely to chase you just to get body blocked and t-bags before all escape.

Just curious.

  • From a survivor perspective..bc they lost a bunch of points from not being able to save and chase, so they farmed you for boldness bc you were afk.

  • Brother it’s not that deep, they probably just wanted to farm points and make some use out of their time. The games not all serious, they were probably just having fun messing around together as well.

  • Next time you afk run wraith and stay invisible.

  • thing is, if a killer is afk like that you will depip. If you're at a point where you don't want to depip you do some stuff that will help you pip; cleanse the totems, open chests, hope for a toolbox to sabo a hook, so stuff that gives you points in boldness. Takes about 4-5 minutes.

  • Because survivors try not to lose pips because you have to talk on the phone... that's why.🤣

in games like this even survivors lose pips (not just killers)

  • Remember you're supposed to wait for Survivors to come back when they're afk otherwise you're toxic lol

Stuff like searching chests and cleansing totems for points/pips I fully get. Locker/vault noise pollution though should probably be tweaked in general though. There's 0 reason a killer needs 10 explosions to let him know about a locker on the other side of the map. Putting a cooldown period on explosions from the same source would probably be a smart move.

iirc shift-jumping out of a locker in TR also gives you points for boldness. But yes, spammed notifications shouldn't be a thing. Yes, sometimes you want to know if someone fast-vaulted three times - but any more than that every five seconds (or even less) def are enough.

The thing is, the only time it's important to know if someone vaulted 3 times... is if your chasing them in which case it's not explosion sounds anyway. It's the sound of the locker, or pallet, or window.

More evidence that the de-pipping system should be done away with, ASAP. All matches safety-pip unless you DC and double the amount of pips you need. Done.

Reminds me that I should start the 8ths topic about this, until BHVR takes notice :)

Who knows why survivors do the things they do sometimes, wild majestic creatures truly.

but yeah getting multiple notification explosions incessantly in the same spot should be looked at.

I just did a spit take with "wild majestic creatures", congrats.

do not double the amount of pips you need. 10 pips for iri 1 ALONE? dear god xD

i think i'd prefer a system that depips me than that grind....

With you 100% on removing depips. - Though, ever since the grade is hidden behind the badge the whole "out of sight out of mind" thing has become much easier ^^

Thought about that too and also agree - but then thought about some fast moving killers that might actually decide which side of something they pick for their M2 based on noise notifications and then figured by the time a surv has vaulted three times they're probably there as well 😅Not that I play the high mobility killers myself, so I wouldn't know - but that was the thought behind it. As far as I'm concerned one notification per pallet/window every... 5-10 seonds or so would absolutely suffice.

Send me to brown, bronze, silver, and gold, I dare them. They’ll regret that instantly. Survival rates through the roof. The baby/teenage survivors will think they’ve been blessed by the entity and the baby/teenage killers will think the whole game is rigged.

Even with fast killers, that's just a hindrance. The sound effect also comes with that bubble that obscures my view of the survivor. I'm finding no real positive situation where I'm going "Thank God for that SEVENTH explosion".

This. Don't blame the other players because you were afk.

The thing is, that by doubling the pips, but doing away with de-pipping, you would need around 250 good or ok games (games that gave you one pip, obviously less if you got a double pip) during a month. Thats a lot, but still manageable and a sort of hard cap. Also, without de-pipping, the value of every single game would go down, and thus a lot of the sweat.

I know for a fact that in critical situations, it nearly broke my heart when an especially cute survivor gave up when the game was stacked against them and I REALLY wanted to give them hatch, but I was at 4 of 5 pips and I knew that I would miss out on the sacrifice emblem if I let them get away, so 9/10 times I killed that survivor with a heavy heart.

In nearly all cases of the 1/10 where I let them get away I was rewarded with a couple of extremely toxic and/or strong murder/death-squads that effortlessly reduced my pip count from 4 to zero in the span of 5 or 6 games. That felt really aweful and made me resent the de-pipping system with an absolute vengeance. I can somewhat understand how some people defend the system with something like "its the only thing that makes you play and give it the games a little sense of impact", but I also strongly believe that we would curb down the toxicity and sweat considerably if all games were safety-pip games and everyone could play anyway they liked.

In my hardcore DBD days I sweat like mad in order to reach Iri1, just so that I could play anyway I liked afterwards, and I would so love if I could play anyway I liked EVERY game, deciding on a whim if I want to become friends with a survivor and meme around or if I want to be a sweatlord, and don't have that decision be influenced on my amound of pips and the prospect of losing them all to a slew of bad games.

  • Step 1: Queue up.

    Step 2: Assert dominance.

    Step 3: Collect the salt.

No exceptions. It doesn't matter if the survivor / killer is afk. Their in game character will still be salty. If they're not salty, then you didn't win.
