I never understood the whole M1 thing.
M1 killer is apparently bad but...are they not all M1 killers? Even Nurse and Spirit down you with M1 using their power of course but still. Maybe not counting Leatherface and Billy because they can down you with M2? I been playing since early 2017 and I still think calling m1 killers bad is stupid lol

The best way I can describe it, is its just a quick way of saying the killer's power doesn't help deal damage/the power itself doesn't deal damage.
Plague without corrupted purge is an M1 killer, Plague with corrupted purge is not.
By that definition, all killers aren't m1 killers.
They all help deal damage, or just deal damage.
Plague kinda deals damage with her m2, everyone is broken eventually
Nobody is gonna use Nurse or Spirit as a M1 killer because their power actually helps during the chase

It's just part of the negative connotation game that this community likes to play
"Survivor Main" - Means you can't comment on balance for killers
"Killer Main" - Means you can't comment on balance for survivors
"M1 Killer" - Means the character is weak as heck and has no chance
"Camper/Tunneler" - Means the killer is playing in a way the survivor doesn't want too
"Gen rushing" - Survivors doing their objective
"You're a (insert perk name) user" - Using a perk either side doesn't like e.g. NOED/Ruin/Self-Care/DH
None of these labels are actually bad, but they're used in a negative way to push little agendas here and there

This is a semantics argument, but generally the term M1 killers means the character is only as dangerous as they can reach with their M1. Generally, that means that they're vulnerable to looping because the survivor knows that as long as they're not within M1 distance of the killer, they're safe. Even characters like Purgeless Plague or Ghostface are M1 Killers. If you're not within swing range of them, they literally cannot hurt you. They cannot ignore the loop game.
With Nurse or Spirit, while they technically use their M1 to actually hit you, you're not actually safe from them simply by being out of reach. Billy is similar because he can close distances quite quickly, but far more conditionally than the other two can. Trapper and Hag also tend to elude the looping meta to some extent, but they pay for that heavily by having crippling setup time and being extra vulnerable to sabotage.
I miss the laugh react. Anyone have that jpeg? Clown bottles certainly do help in a chase and with tracking. It's not situational at all. Yes, you closed off a loop. That indeed helps with the chase. Period. It's like saying Trappers traps don't stop loops as well. Yes, he is a m1 killer but with a very strong m2.

I can't understand your point, what does Clown do? Bottles to slow survivors, ok. But survivors still can deal with his power and avoid it with no difficulties. Spirit and Nurse, you just teleport and hit them fast. They aren't killers running for hours in circles, unless the players are inexperienced
You can't really compare Clown, Pig, Plague, Legion, Trapper and Wraith at the level of Spirit, Billy, Nurse, Huntress or Hag. Huntress need to get her hatchets and Hag's traps can be countered but both powers still usefull during the chases, the rest is just lucky (Trapper traps) or circunstancial (Plague with corrupt purge)

M1 is basically a killer who is fully depended on his M1 to down killer while his m2 doesn't help to down survivors faster at loops. For example Huntress is a M1 killer once she has no hatchets left.
Clown power is weak, doesn't help him in chases, or map control. That's why people call him M1 killer

Non-M1 killers rely heavily on their powers to injure survivors in a chase. Nurse, Spirit, Hillbilly, Hag, and Huntress.
M1 killers CAN use their power to injure survivors (Canibal, Pig, Trapper) or use them to close the gap / shorten a chase (Freddy, stealth killers, etc) but the majority of their gameplay in a chase consists of walking towards a survivor until they're close enough to Mouse 1 them, whereas a survivor has to really misplay for a Nurse, Spirit, Hag, or Huntress to end a chase in reasonable time without using their power. Hillbilly is a bit of a special case, but I still wouldn't consider him a M1 killer because A) he should always be looking to achieve downs with his power and B) even his basic movement around the map is dictated by his power.
M1 Killer isn't necessarily a negative connotation, they've just historically been weaker than Nurse, Spirit, Hillbilly, Hag, and Huntress.

We typically don't use this phrase to describe killers that are very good in chases.
We might as well call every other killer NN. Not Nurse lol shes in a league of her own and every other killer..even spirit is kinda crap compared to her. I hope in the future though all that can be balanced out.
