I have this one reason for thinking Spirit is better than nurse.
You can’t counter spirit without having Iron Will, you can counter a nurse without it.

Thought you would say gengrabber build with prayer beads.
@DaS_only that is a good point for those who don’t use spine chill/premonition.
But you forget, the most poweful build of all... BUBBAS BASEMENT.
That is my... personal secret...😈😈
You can, it's just going to be more difficult. You need to have really good prediction skills and a good understanding of what Spirit can do.
I main Spirit and I can tell you the best way to run from one is to use windows. Windows are more effective than pallets because if you vault a window and she didn't predict that to go around to the other side she has to stop phase walking to vault the window, or at the very least she will use up her power before going around to the other side.
Pallets are less safe because she doesn't need to come out of phase walk to go through a pallet. However, if the pallet is dropped, then it would act like a window and you can use it as such until she breaks it. This is why you still need to break certain pallets as Spirit because if you don't, it's basically another window a survivor can use to evade you.
I already know pallets aren’t very safe against her. So my counterplay options are to hope the invisible lady doesn’t hear me?
You can counter neither without Iron Will.
Besides, in order to finish chases as fast as Nurse, with no Iron Will involved, Spirit needs to either 1. get a hit without her power early or 2. use her power in incredibly short bursts, which can backfire because you need to be a lot more precise.
Nurse can finish chases faster assuming the killer player is good and has true map pressure. Spirit has pseudo pressure and takes longer to finish chases. Still #2, but the gap is pretty big, especially with no add-ons.

Besides, your point can be turned around quite easily. Iron Will REALLY harms Spirit, and Nurse doesn't really care about it because she cares about very little in this game.
@gantes it doesn’t hurt most Spirit players since you can hear footsteps, at least I can hear survivors footsteps.
It doesn't because just like Nurse, she doesn't have reliable, consistent counterplay.
I said it really harms her because the first chase against every person with Iron Will is gonna probably be a nightmare, and with how important time management is in this game, it can turn a game around if multiple people have it. Besides, things like window/pallet jukes get better if you have Iron Will.
I mean she might be able to hear you but if you are on the other side of a window there isn't much she can do unless it's a bad window. All you need to do is get her to waste her power, then she is a 110 killer than you can loop normally for a short time.
You can also use environment sounds to your advantage. Running gens, fire pits, etc. can make it harder to track you by sound.
But IMHO windows are the absolute best option against her. She is especially weak against the super strong windows like the one downstairs main building of Grim Pantry or the window on Ironworks or Coal Tower. If you vault those and she failed to predict it then she is forced to vault the window, and she is a 110 killer with no way to really catch up before you get back around to the window. Where Hag can set a trap to break the loop or Huntress can throw a hatchet from a distance, Spirit doesn't have those options. She ends her power, vaults the window, and by the time her power is back up you are already back to the window. Granted those windows are good against nearly every killer, it's just even better against Spirit.
Eagerly looks at you in Territorial Imperative
The reason why Spirit can be mindgamed isn't entirely because she can't know where you are, but because she can't know where you are planning on running.
She can try and find out by waiting before phasing but if you predict this then there are often places you can run to with the extra time in order to be safe anyways such as some windows as people have mentioned.
In order to counter it she needs to already know you are heading there without stopping to let you do so and then cut you off.
However this opens up a mindgame since if she predicts you heading there, commits to it since she needs to go there before hand, and then you DON'T go there. Then you've wasted her power and she's now a 110% Killer for about 15 seconds. Even given her having perfect information of your current location (she won't, just an approximation) that doesn't negate the mindgame.
This means that she has a reason to NOT cut you off if she predicts you won't go for the potentially safe window.
Sometimes you actually do need to use her lack of perfect information to juke her, for example while if you are near the window you can just vault it if she isn't already heading for the other side (which she'd need to do before you preform the vault in the first place making knowledge of your current position meaningless). This also applies to a lot of pallets, in fact it does so more often than windows. Either way in these situations it is impossible for the Spirit to guarantee a hit.
In other situations this is not quite the case. For example if you are running to a safe window but she has just enough time to reach you as you are vaulting it.
You can do 1 of 2 practical options:
A - Run up to the window and vault
B - Run up to the window and walk away from it. After she phases start running again.
The spirit can either strike the window catching you on a vault (but otherwise giving you time to run) or not strike the window and catch someone walking away (but letting someone vaulting the window go). If she waits to phase then the window vault is guaranteed if attempted thus making this text book WIFOM.
However if the Survivor is injured and doesn't have Iron Will then the Spirit can hear the survivor walking and thus guarantee a hit no matter what on reaction.
A healthy Survivor or a Survivor with iron will can attempt the mindgame so long as she doesn't have fathers glasses.
You can counter a Spirit without IW. Just like any other killer she has multiple counters. Please do some research into these counters to help yourself. Well IW and Spine Chill are the strongest counters they are not the only 2.
@GrootDude You commented on my how to play against Spirit post so I know you read at least part of it. It's the same I said there... Perks can help but are there are counters that don't rely on them. Windows, flashlights, backtracking, be aware of sounds and scratch marks that you leave.
Spirit has counterplay.
As long as Sally is here, Spirit is no one.
Maybe on console, but not on PC lol.
