The gates are powered and open. Are killers not allowed to protect any kills whatsoever?
Well that looks like someone on a hook, and 3 survivors picking their bums instead of finishing the game. Nothing is being held hostage there.
Not by survivor logic. They can't accept that there's a chance some of them will die by going into the most unsafe place in the game. We're Gonna Live Forever!!!

I don't remember ever doing this.
To quote one of the developer: "A survivor should always have the chance to escape.". So in their eyes this was not okay.
There's 3 survivors there lol. She could easily kill everyone.
Also I don't do that stuff, but the basement rework is very good in my eyes.
No counterplay to stairs being blocked.
That's not protecting a kill, it's abusing a mechanic
No counterplay to survivors rushing the hook with the gates powered and open.
I'm okay with top of stairs blocking.
It's the damn Wraiths that block the stairs so you can never leave. Those trolls are toxic af.
Blocking and not letting players out of the basement is completely different then hitting and moving on. Many are trolls, yes, however being stuck for hours just to force DC's is NOT okay.
This still allows for the same stragies with all the same killers but now at least the trolls can't abuse survivors.
You can still camp basement with insidious and get kills no problem.
You can still get a hit on the stairs no problem.
You can still run up stairs and hit no problem.
You can still run down stairs and hit no problem.
With the new end game without this change it would mean now all killers, not just the trolls, would block the stairs giving themselves 4k's by holding the game hostage.
This + new end game change is balanced.
