PTB Recall - Was it really Killer outcry or was it actual dev data?

Do you think that the cancelled PTB was actually cancelled due to Killer outrage per the current 'theories,' or do you think that the developers looked at the results they had and saw that the system was a failure and did not align with their current goals?

I see a lot of people complaining about Killer outrage in a lot of topics, but no one ever seems to consider any of the evidence that points towards the system being a failure in its current iteration (ie being reworked by the devs).

What do YOU think?

"Probably because they take everything so seriously"

Not sure if you've ever watched Hardcore Survivor, but the difference between the killer main content creators and the survivor main content creators was interesting to observe lol Otz and Dowsey spent the whole time trying to get JRM and Ayrun to take it seriously. Then Hens took over from Dowsey later down the line and he was even more on edge, constantly going off at JRM and Ayrun. They were all playing survivor for those games, but it was no surprise to me that the players (Otz, Dowsey, Hens) most drawn to killer were assertive and competitive, while the ones drawn to survivor (JRM and Ayrun) just wanted to have fun lol it made for a very interesting dynamic

I mean if a survivor content creator loses they could still have looped well or saved their team so its interesting to watch. If a killer content creator just keeps losing its boring af to see and prob they have a dead channel, so on the entertaining aspect Id say there is a reason.

Killer crying 100%. Streamers saw they might have a little harder time tunneling, slugging and winning 2,000 Blight matches in a row. BHVR saw that might be a little unfair to make it harder for these people and caved into the demands.

You always use the “2,000 win streak Blight”, which is like 5 people out of the millions of players, to represent the views entire killer player base. It’s incredibly divisive and it derails productive discussions about balance. You may be surprised to learn that most killer players, including streamers, actually play both killer and survivor roles and thus have a good understanding of when something is broken on one side or the other. Did you actually play as killer in the PTB to test for yourself how these changes affect the killer experience? Maybe consider listening to the full analysis and context from people who play both sides rather than immediately demonizing everyone who was against the changes as people who want to tunnel and slug to win 2,000 games in a row.

  • A reminder to please keep comments civil and respectful.

  • Just data based, biggets outrage that ended with one of hardest nerf for no reason in DBD history is skullmerchant nerf that was just because survivor main complained.

Fog vials will always make me think outcry trumps data, because I can't imagine those mediocre things were tipping the balance after a week of already minimal usage.

Fog vials nerf is small thing compare to skullmerchant case.

  • I think it’s more about people reaction. If they were actually counting on data, they would more likely to share with it to stop this rant and cool down the heat of discussion

I also noticed MMR doesn’t work on PTB. I barely had 4 matches out of 40 on this PTB where my skill matched with my teammates or opponent. Many killers or survivors dced just after first minutes of match because it was too fast - either 4 downs on 5 gens, or 3 gens done without any hook stages. So, maybe, the issue they don’t really have proper datas…

The main point the whole PTB from the start was created from people outcry as well, just from other side. It never was about some stats or objectiveness, it was an attempt to accomplish sentiment

Meh people always use "bully swf squad" to justify nerfing anything that benefits survivors, it's a small % of the playerbase but that doesn't stop you from bringing it up everytime

the guy with his 2000 win streak is not important, because you can take ANY other skilled Blight player and he probably wins 9/10 times without breaking a sweat.. a 2000 win streak is symbolic of a deeper balance issue, that shouldn't be possible at all

Killer content creators doesnt need to 4k but I agree with you, its either winning and streaks or some crazy wesker hugtechs, orbital snipes, snipes across the map with huntress or flicks with blight cliped togeather.
