Ex-Dev says 9.2.0 will destroy Killers

Former Dbd Dev Almo chimes in on the 9.2.0 Changes and how it will seriously gut killers

If even former Devs and known Content Creators who been with DBD since the beginning are gonna quit if these anti tunnel changes go live. These changes cannot go live.

A severe grain of salt at that. I know Almo was a dev, and I say this respectfully, but his gameplay particularly on killer wasn't necessarily the greatest.

I don't believe one needs to be great at the game, to be able to balance it properly or make good changes to it, as the former does not exclude the latter. As one can have a good understanding of something, without necessarily having practiced it. However i do believe having an open mind to feedback and to the idea of potentially being wrong about something, and then changing it to be something better, is just as important- if not more so for game health in general.

My main problem and why always take things Almo says with a grain of salt, is because of his attitude whenever someone tries to argue against him on something.

Everytime i saw him on a dev stream, or engage with him on one of his personal twitch streams or on his discord, he more often than not had this air of superiority around him. How when someone was being critical or disagreed with something he did or said, he'd always give some type of know-it-all answer on why people were actually wrong in what they're saying or thinking.

At least, that is what my experience with him has been, whenever i've observed him and engaged with him.

Which would just be like any OTHER anti-tunnel protection. This was the entire reason for conspicuous actions to begin with. You ended up with an awkward situation where DS was essentially granting every survivor 2 minutes of free gen time if the killer tried to avoid eating it. That has nothing to do with tunneling anymore.

I would point out that the OTHER anti-tunnel protection methods have failed to correct the problem. That's why we are where we are. You can still down them. You can still death hook them or mori them if you want. It's just not as efficient to do so with these changes depending on how many gens remain.

The key phrase in your statement about DS is 'if the killer tried to avoid eating it'. Granting free gen time to a survivor because you don't want to just eat a stun and re-down them is the killer's choice.

Then i trust you understand my annoyance with his insufferable fans repeating the whole ''devs rudely shut down otz and ignore his solution during TWD Chandler stream that would have 100% worked without flaws''

Like i'm not gonna defend how bhvr handled that entire situation, however i've seen people take that situation to the extremes and basically treating not taking Otz's suggestion as some kind of unforgivable mortal sin that bhvr must burn on a pyre for, because nobody is ever allowed to go against Otz in any way it seems.

    It is more like this.

BHVR allows this DDoS'ing thing to happen. They gaslight the community by saying that they found no evidence of it ever happening. Content Creators continue to deal with the obvious DDoS'ing with zero help from BHVR. Eventually, they find workarounds and ways to counteract the bad actors without BHVR's help.

Then BHVR runs a livestream. It then gets DDoS'd. One of the CC that was most affected steps in with a proven solution to fix the issue. Not only do they shut him down, but they also actively sabotage the people who tried to fill the lobby and stop the DDoS'ing and straight-up interrupt and seemingly belittle their special guest in Chandler.

It isn't that it happened to Otz, even if it was some random it would be bad, but that it happened to someone that they supposedly value and trust enough to be a Consultant, Fog Whisperer and on a huge livestream, is absolutely diabolical levels of incompetence.

I posted 2 examples with video. Neither involves hard tunneling.

No clearly that was hard tunneling and the penalties were deserved/s

Thing is, i don't believe it's that simple nor that it was a case of them being actively trying to lie to anyone. Because there's usually more going on in the background of things than what the public is aware of.

Also i know people say that they belittled Chandled, but that's not what it sounded like to me when i listen to that audio bit, so much so the idea of him being belittled feels like the community blowning it out of proportion instead, because they're already upset over the ddos thing to begin with.

Even if it wasn't Otz, it doesn't change that some people took that whole situation to an extreme level, just because it was Otz.

Imagine thinking random content creators who are killer mains, and an ex dev who refers to killers as "we" are unbiased and impartial.

What is killing, will continue to kill and ultimately be the death of this game is weak minded Devs pandering to salty killers every time they have to work at the game.

Ghoul has been broken for ages.. nothing happens.

Killers cry about distortion, nerfed to the ground, killers cry about fog vials, nerfed to the ground, then the toxic and unhealthy tunnelling and slugging, yep cry cry cry, Devs come running to give you a reach around.

Killers wait so long for games because survivors are quitting because the game which btw should be renamed to death simulator, is awful for survivors.

It will soon end up with Texas chainsaw and they have themselves to blame for never believing in what they develop and listening to a small group of people who prefer everything handed to them on a plate.

Killers require zero skill. Any change that reminds you of that, gets nerfed to death because your egos can't handle actually having to play

Four people left at halfway? So like two or three gens finished? Isn't that normal? Do y'all really have survivors dead with less than six hooks at that point without intentional, hard tunneling?

This just isn't how my matches go at all. Everyone is usually around until maybe the last gen. But they all have one or two hooks. My momentum in matches is consistent and my stats are average.

That part stuck out to me. He doesn't think the 5 players that paid for the game should be able to play minimum half of a match? I'm glad the current devs don't seem to be sharing the same opinion.

    There's no way that's him.

This reads like someone posing as him supporting the idea that Killers are somehow not allowed to tunnel or kill anymore

Its him, he has posted about this topic many times already.

It is that simple though. We know how these things work because the community has dealt with them due to the inaction of BHVR.

When Chandler represented Otz's solution, which again we know would work because we've seen it work before, they talked over him and shut him down, acting like he (and Otz) had no idea what they were talking about.

Then I suppose he's been consistent in his takes, poor as they may be.

  • An automatic system that tries to shape killer gameplay through punishing "undesirables".

Instead of a system that gives survivors tools to counteract "undesireable gameplay".

Let survivors on Hook choose a hook they can teleport to, show it to other survivors, and give the unhookers the option to choose which location to unhook.

Killer doesn't get information on what hook they come off of, and can still get instant information on hook states.

And remove tunneling penalties in exchange for some kind of base-kit Shoulder the burden when certain conditions are met, still taking time from survivors, but also adding time to the killer in the case the dead survivor isn't literally dead weight (which is a MMR issue)

Again, i don't believe it is that simple, nor did that part of the livestream to me, come off as how you describe it as.

Disagree with me all you want, but i simply just don't see either of those moments the way you describe them as.

    What is it then?

What is it that you are seeing that nobody else is?

  • If Almo thinks it's a bad idea, it's most definitely a good idea.
